Depth of field is something that can be looked at from two different angles – minimum depth of field
and maximum depth of field. Minimum depth of field is where there is only one section of the
photo in focus (usually the foreground) like seen in photos one to four, and maximum depth of field
is where everything in the photo looks sharp and is in focus (like seen in photos five and six). I
personally love the minimum depth of field the most and I think that I could apply this to my own
project in many different ways. I particularly love the third photo where you can only see the cats
nose in focus in the photo – it has inspired me to look at the face more when I carry out my makeup
project to play up and accentuate certain features on the face and this in turn could be emphasised
with makeup either through colour or texture etc. Maximum depth of field is something that I can
also consider carefully with my project too as I plan the majority of my work to be portrait based and
therefore there will be shoots where I want to shoot the whole face and possibly body in focus.
Maximum depth of field is good for when you want your audience to see the bigger picture.
