Paste 6 images here include the name & date of image
4. These images are of different people’s faces. Otherwise know as portraits. These
portraits are taken by Paul Hurst. The ways the photographs have been taken are
very dark and dull. This creates a sense of aloneness. This theme travels throughout
the Photographers photos. The photographs were taken in a studio where the models
would have had makeup and dressing rooms with them making the shot go a lot
faster. In the images I see different genders that are made to look alone.
Composition
The composition of the shot is very simple, the shot looks like it has been taken at a
head height and the whole shot is fairly straight forward. The camera that he used
would have been on a tripod. This would have been set quite high up depending on
the height of the model. If he were to move the tripod to the left of the right the
image would change drastically. The reason for this is the model is looking straight into
the lens of the camera, making the audience feel like they are being drawn into the
image. When I take my images I will use a tripod to as this will limit the amount of blur
and shake effect coming through on the image.
Techniques used
The techniques that are used are mostly depth of field, and ISO. The reason for this is
because he wants the model to be the main focus of the image. When people look
at the image there first reaction will be to look at their face. This is why he needs to
emphasise the models face and body.
Strengths & Weaknesses
The strengths of the images are the way the photographer has kept a theme. When
shooing the shots he has made the models have minimal expression on their face
and this carries the theme of loneliness.
The weaknesses would be the images look very dark and dismal. When editing the
shots he could have made the images brighter and more appealing to look at.
