Edward Curtis was a photographer who spent 30 years documenting Native American tribes in North America. He took over 40,000 photographs and recorded 10,000 wax cylinders of speech and music. His work was published in 20 volumes called "The North American Indian" and consisted of photographs and text about the history and culture of various tribes. Curtis received support from prominent figures like President Theodore Roosevelt and financier J.P. Morgan to complete this extensive documentary project.
