This document summarizes an Active Congestion Control (ACC) mechanism that uses active networking technology to make feedback congestion control more responsive to network congestion. ACC includes programs in data packets that allow routers to react to congestion without incurring round trip delay. When congestion is detected, the congested router calculates and sends a new congestion control state to endpoints to synchronize distributed states. Simulations show ACC TCP can achieve up to 18% higher throughput than standard TCP under bursty traffic conditions by reacting more quickly to congestion. ACC and TCP perform comparably under stable network conditions.
This document discusses various database programming skills that are useful for efficiently designing and managing databases. It describes how batches allow grouping SQL statements to execute as a single unit. Variables can store temporary values during batch execution. Conditional constructs like IF-ELSE and CASE statements allow branching program flow based on conditions. Loops like WHILE allow repeating statements. Exceptions can be handled using TRY-CATCH blocks or RAISEERROR statements. Good database programming requires understanding and applying these different programming skills and constructs.
This study evaluated the impact of diabetes mellitus and obesity on male infertility in Iraqi patients. It found that:
1) Serum levels of HbA1C, a marker of long-term blood sugar control, were higher in diabetic patients regardless of BMI compared to healthy controls. HbA1C was also higher in normo-BMI diabetic patients compared to obese diabetic patients.
2) Serum free testosterone levels, important for male fertility, were significantly lower in obese diabetic patients compared to overweight diabetic and healthy patients.
3) There was a significant negative correlation between serum free testosterone levels and HbA1C in obese diabetic patients, suggesting poorer blood sugar control is associated with lower testosterone.
This study analyzed data from 316 children referred to the W82GO obesity treatment program. Key findings include:
- 55% of participants who completed exercise testing were classified as hypertensive or pre-hypertensive.
- Participants had significantly lower cardiorespiratory fitness levels compared to studies of other obese children, putting them at increased risk for cardiovascular disease.
- The majority of children presented with severe obesity and impaired cardiovascular health, demonstrating the need for obesity treatment programs to also address reducing cardiovascular risk factors.

This summary analyzes the association between the BDNF gene variant (rs6265) and overweight/obesity in Malaysian adolescents. The study genotyped 564 adolescents of different ethnicities for the rs6265 variant. Carriage of the minor A allele was significantly associated with overweight/obesity and overfatness compared to the GG genotype. Physical activity levels were also significantly associated with the minor allele. This is the first study to find an association between this BDNF variant, physical activity, and obesity in a multi-ethnic Malaysian adolescent population.
BODY FAT DEPOSITION AND RISK FACTORS OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES IN MENProf William Alves Lima
This study examined the relationship between body fat percentage and cardiovascular disease risk factors in 112 Brazilian men. The men were divided into three groups based on body fat percentage: healthy (<19%), overweight (19-30%), and obese (>30%). Results showed that measures of body weight, circumference, blood pressure, and blood lipids differed significantly between the healthy and overweight/obese groups but not between the overweight and obese groups. The findings suggest that a body fat percentage above 19% may indicate increased cardiovascular risk in men.
—Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a prominent health problem and micro-albunemia is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in these CVDs in developing countries. This case control study was designed to find out burden of micro-albuminuria in non-diabetic non-hypertensive CVD patients and its associating factors. In this study, 50 Non Diabetic Non Hypertensive CVD Patients were submitted to a complete clinical and laboratory evaluation. Patients with known micro-albuminuria, UTI and congestive heart failure were excluded. These cases were compared with matched controls. It was observed that 36% of non-diabetic, non-hypertensive CVD patients had microalbuminuric by Clinitek method. There was a positive association between dyslipidaemia and micro-albuminuria was also observed in this study. The microalbuminuric CVD patients (non-diabetic, non-hypertensive) had significantly elevated levels of serum cholesterol (p<0.05), triglycerides (p<0.05) and LDL (p<0.05) as compared to normoalbuminuric patients. It can be concluded from this study that the micro-albuminuria was present in more than one third of non-diabetic non-hypertensive CVD patients. Older age group, Body Mass Index (BMI) and lipid profile had significant relationship with the presence of micro-albuminuria.
Oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation may be risk factors for metabolic car...IOSR Journals
Metabolic cardiovascular syndrome is a combination of factors that augment a person's risk
for heart disease, diabetes and stroke. Features of which are obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia [including
increased triglycerides and decreased HDL], impaired glucose tolerance, and hypertension. Obesity has the
central role in this syndrome. The prevalence of obesity in children has increased dramatically over the last 20
years, leading to higher health risk associated with complications such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure
and cardiovascular disease.
Aim: The aim of this study is to search for a possible relationship between oxidative stress (as interpreted by
lipid peroxidation) and risk factors for metabolic cardiovascular syndrome in obese prepubertal children, in an
attempt to overcome the increased health risk associated with obesity in children.
Subjects and methods: Eighty prepubertal children aged (5-11) years were enrolled in this study. According to
their body mass index (BMI) they were divided into two groups:
1. Obese group of which 50 subjects were selected
2. Lean group consisted 30 aged matched subjects.
Random cholesterol, high density lipoproteins (HDL) and malondialdehyde were measured in sera
spectrophotometricaly
Results: Both cholesterol and MDA serum concentrations were significantly higher in obese children than leans
( P < 0.000 ). However HDL was lower in obese children and no significant value was found when compared to
leans.
Conclusion: Obese children exhibited hypercholesterolemia and increased lipid peroxidation. This might be a
potential risk of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases especially when HDL decreases as was found. These
findings might shed a light on a possible relationship between oxidative stress metabolic cardiovascular
syndrome. A case where interventional measures might be necessary to prevent excessive weight gain during
childhood.
Study of Lipid Profile in Patients of Coronary Artery Disease among Rural Pop...iosrjce
India and other developing countries in South Asia are progressively facing alarming proportions of
morbidity and mortality caused by coronary artery disease. There are a number of studies on dyslipidemia in
coronary artery disease patients in Indian subcontinent, mostly in urban population in different geographical
territories of the country. There was no such community-based study in rural population of Bihar. Hence this
case control study was undertaken to study dyslipidemia among the rural patients admitted to hospital with
coronary artery disease. 100 consecutive cases diagnosed as coronary artery disease aged 30 to 90 years were
compared to 50 ages and sex matched healthy controls. Age, gender, blood pressure, history of smoking and
diabetes mellitus, waist-hip ratio and Body Mass Index were recorded in each subject. Blood samples for
investigations of lipid profile i.e. serum cholesterol (CHO), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein–
cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) were collected from cases. It was found
that high prevalence of dyslipidemia i.e. elevated serum cholesterol and TG and low HDL cholesterol were
significant in all the age groups above 40 years. Interestingly our study in rural population is not associated
with increased risk of coronary artery disease with LDL levels. In order to implement preventive approach to
CAD, our findings suggest that early detection of abnormal lipid profile and modification of lifestyles are important

Abstract—Subclinical Hypothyroidism is a much more common disorder with a world-wide occurrence as compared to overt Hypothyroidism. Overt Hypothyroidism is associated with abnormalities of lipid metabolism, but the significance of dyslipidemia in subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) remains controversial.
Aims: To compare the lipid profile between subclinical hypothyroid patients & healthy controls (age & sex matched) so as to determine any association between lipid profile & subclinical hypothyroidism.
Materials and Methods: In a case-control study, Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free T3, free T4, anti thyroperoxidase (TPO) antibodies, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein(HDL) cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, Very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol, serum triglycerides were measured in 50 patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and 50 age- and sex-matched Euthyroid controls after an overnight fasting.
Results: Mean serum triglycerides (TG) and very low-density cholesterol (VLDL) were significantly higher in patients with SCH than controls (P < 0.05). No association was found between serum total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and SCH.
Conclusions: Dyslipidemia is more common in SCH compared to controls. High serum triglycerides and VLDL were observed in patients with SCH.

of students towards health assessment activities and status.
The study compared blood pressure (BP) measurements from oscillometric monitors to established auscultatory limits from the Working Group (WG) in over 6,000 children. Limits based on the first oscillometric reading were inaccurate compared to WG limits. However, averaging multiple readings, especially the second through fourth readings, provided limits closest to WG. Current practice is to average the second through fourth readings to determine BP status. Normative reference values from additional geographic areas and age ranges are still needed for oscillometric BP measurements in children.

the next decades [1]. In children, excess body fat appears to
be strongly associated with the clustering of risk factors, such
as hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, which
play a key role in the pathogenesis of the metabolic syndrome
(MetS) [2].
Obesity and the MetS risk in children have been
recently associated with systemic inflammatory markers,
in particular C-reactive protein (CRP) [3, 4], implying
that low-grade inflammation can already exist in childhood
and may be a potential link between the obesity and the
MetS. Among behavioral variables, cardiorespiratory fitness
has a protective role in MetS and inflammatory factors;
however, it is not entirely clear if the interrelations among
cardiorespiratory fitness, MetS risk, and inflammation in
children are independent or partly due to the mediating
effect of obesity, since the existing data are limited and
equivocal [5, 6].
Recent evidence indicates that the prevalence rates
of childhood obesity in Greece remain high [1, 7] and
often coexist with low cardiorespiratory fitness [8] and
an unfavorable cardiometabolic risk profile [9]. For the
Greek pediatric population these data suggest an increased
cardiovascular morbidity in adulthood, given that highrisk
children and adolescents are likely to become highrisk
adults [10]. Although the relationship among obesity
and dyslipidemia in Greek children has been thoroughly
investigated [9, 11], there is a paucity of data regarding the
clustering of metabolic risk factors, inflammation, and their
relationship with cardiorespiratory fitness. The present study
was undertaken in an attempt to investigate the prevalence of
theMetS and examine the associations among cardiorespiratory
fitness, MetS risk, and CRP in 11-year-old children.

This document summarizes a study that examined the relationship between body fat distribution, percentage of body fat, and blood lipid levels in adult men. The study found that:
1) Trunk percentage body fat alone explained variations in total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglyceride levels.
2) Triglyceride levels were best explained by the inverse relationship between trunk percentage body fat and leg percentage body fat.
3) Trunk percentage body fat was the best predictor of total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and various atherogenic indices. Glucose levels were not predicted by total or regional body fat.

GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS AND GASTRITIS
Osvaldo Bernardo Muchanga
Gastrointestinal Infections
GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS result from the ingestion of pathogens that cause infections at the level of this tract, generally being transmitted by food, water and hands contaminated by microorganisms such as E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Rotavirus among others that are generally contained in feces, thus configuring a FECAL-ORAL type of transmission.
Among the factors that lead to the occurrence of gastrointestinal infections are the hygienic and sanitary deficiencies that characterize our markets and other places where raw or cooked food is sold, poor environmental sanitation in communities, deficiencies in water treatment (or in the process of its plumbing), risky hygienic-sanitary habits (not washing hands after major and/or minor needs), among others.
These are generally consequences (signs and symptoms) resulting from gastrointestinal infections: diarrhea, vomiting, fever and malaise, among others.
The treatment consists of replacing lost liquids and electrolytes (drinking drinking water and other recommended liquids, including consumption of juicy fruits such as papayas, apples, pears, among others that contain water in their composition).
To prevent this, it is necessary to promote health education, improve the hygienic-sanitary conditions of markets and communities in general as a way of promoting, preserving and prolonging PUBLIC HEALTH.
Gastritis and Gastric Health
Gastric Health is one of the most relevant concerns in human health, with gastrointestinal infections being among the main illnesses that affect humans.
Among gastric problems, we have GASTRITIS AND GASTRIC ULCERS as the main public health problems. Gastritis and gastric ulcers normally result from inflammation and corrosion of the walls of the stomach (gastric mucosa) and are generally associated (caused) by the bacterium Helicobacter pylor, which, according to the literature, this bacterium settles on these walls (of the stomach) and starts to release urease that ends up altering the normal pH of the stomach (acid), which leads to inflammation and corrosion of the mucous membranes and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
In addition to bacterial infections, gastritis and gastric ulcers are associated with several factors, with emphasis on prolonged fasting, chemical substances including drugs, alcohol, foods with strong seasonings including chilli, which ends up causing inflammation of the stomach walls and/or corrosion. of the same, resulting in the appearance of wounds and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
Among patients with gastritis and/or ulcers, one of the dilemmas is associated with the foods to consume in order to minimize the sensation of pain and discomfort.

Abstract - Lipid profile, is a collective term given to the estimation of, typically, total cholesterol, high-density
lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides. The Purpose of the present study was to
analyze the difference if any among the boys in the age of 13, 14 and 15 on lipid profiles. To achieve the purpose of
the study 150 matriculation students in Chennai city were selected as subjects. Lipid profiles such as cholesterol
HDL-direct, Triglycerides, LDL cholesterol ratio, VLDL cholesterol, and LDL/HDL ratio were selected as criterion
variables. The lipid profiles were studied using the standard Bio-chemical laboratory facilities of Thyro Care. One
way analysis of variance was used as an appropriate statistical tool to study the significance. The statistical analysis
on lipid profiles of adolescence boys of 13, 14 and 15 was not statistically significant. Hence it was concluded that the
age variations during adolescence (13,14 and 15) did not have any significance on lipid profiles.

I. Introduction
In the present days obesity has been a growing concern all over the world because of lack of
physical fitness. Irrespective of socio-economic conditions, people from all sections are reluctantly to
participate in physical activities because of their attitude towards improving their standard of living.
Boys in the period of adolescence are placed to sedentary life style because of their working nature
both at home and school. It places them in physical and mental stress which subjects them into many
physical, physiological and metobological changes. The research paper aims to study the lipid profiles
of boys during adolescence with special reference to their age between 13 and 15 and see if there is a
difference in lipid profiles due to age.

II. Methodology
To achieve the purpose of the present study 150 matriculation students from Chennai city
were selected between the age group of 13 and 15. Their height and weight were assessed and BMI
(Body Mass Index) was calculated. Based on the BMI, the subjects who lie above BMI>25 were
filtered to 34 numbers of which 12 were in the age group of 13 and 13 were in the age group of 14 and
9 were in the age group of 15.The lipid profiles of the selected subjects were measured using the
standardized Bio-Chemical laboratory facilities of ThyroCare. The lipid profiles include cholesterol
HDL-direct, Triglycerides, LDL cholesterol ratio, VLDL cholesterol, and LDL/HDL ratio. The
variations of lipid profiles of the age group of 13, 14 and 15 were analyzed using one way analysis of
variance which projected the statistical significance of lipid profiles pertaining to the age differences
of 13, 14 and 15, where the level of statistical significance was set at 0.05 level of confidence.
III. Analysis and Results
The data collected on lipid profiles among the adolescent boys aged 13, 14 and 15 were
analyzed by one way analysis of variance. The results of descriptive measures, differential analysis
and post-hoc test are presented in the following tables.

IV. Findings
The result of Analysis of Variance on lipid profiles among the boys aging 13, 14 and
15 observed that the mean difference among them was statistically not significant. There was
no statistical significance in on cholesterol HDL-direct, Triglycerides, LDL cholesterol ratio,
VLDL cholesterol, and LDL/HDL ratio. The findings proved that the difference in age during
adolescence of 13, 14 and 15 did not have any significance in their lipid profile.
V. Conclusion
Based on the findings it is concluded that the lipid profile of the boys during
adolescence remain undifferentiated. In addition to it, while selecting the subjects for the
study, since the Body Mass Index (BMI>25), was used as criterion, although boys differ in
the age, as they were all in the pool of BMI>25, that may have the significant source for not
getting significant mean difference in the lipid profiles.
