The documentary film "Inequality for All" examines the growing income gap in the US and its impact on the economy and democracy. It will be released nationwide on September 27th. Grassroots organizers are being hired to coordinate screening events and promotional activities in their local areas from September to October to raise awareness of the film and its message. The part-time positions pay $20/hour and require outreach, event coordination, and online and offline promotional efforts.

At CaSES, over 100 students presented innovative solutions to wicked problems in their communities. Students in the Cultural Emotions course first conducted Needs Assessments of their communities to explore the connections between course themes and real-life experience. They worked in teams, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to design solutions and considering the challenges of implementing big ideas for social change.

The Art of Skid Row is a tool to reference the need for a new system of housing. Through this book, the human element of Homelessness + Urban Poverty become a visceral experience. Both employees indicated that they had been working together for approximately one year. They also both admitted that they had a close working and personal relationship on and off the job. They indicated that they had lunch together on a daily basis and had met outside the workplace at a cocktail lounge for drinks. They also admitted that they had hugged and kissed each other in the past.

We recently hosted the much-anticipated Community Skill Builders Workshop during our June online meeting. This event was a culmination of six months of listening to your feedback and crafting solutions to better support your PMI journey. Here’s a look back at what happened and the exciting developments that emerged from our collaborative efforts.

We were thrilled to see a diverse group of attendees, including local certified PMI trainers and both new and experienced members eager to contribute their perspectives. The workshop was structured into three dynamic discussion sessions, each led by our dedicated membership advocates.

- 1. Title: Grassroots Campaign Captain Project Overview: INEQUALITY FOR ALL is a Sundance award winning film that will be released in theatres nationwide on September 27th. A passionate argument on behalf of the middle class, INEQUALITY FOR ALL features Robert Reich – professor, best-selling author, and Clinton cabinet member - as he demonstrates how the widening income gap has a devastating impact on the American economy. The film is an intimate portrait of a man whose lifelong goal remains protecting those who are unable to protect themselves. Through his singular perspective, Reich explains how the massive consolidation of wealth by a precious few threatens the viability of the American workforce and the foundation of democracy itself. In this INCONVENIENT TRUTH for the economy, Reich uses humor and a wide array of facts to explain how the issue of economic inequality affects each and every one of us. The film’s social action team is hiring 25 grassroots organizers to lead on-the-ground organizing efforts leading up to and during the release of the film. This will vary depending on what region you live in. Start date: Sept 9 Tentative end date: Oct. 30 (depends on what region you live in) Major Responsibilities: • Outreach to local organizations for and coordination of screening events and group sales. • Attend theatrical screenings - serve as ambassador at screenings (e.g. pass out swag, newsletter sign-up, welcome people, assist panelists). • Support grassroots promotional efforts offline (postcards/poster distribution) online (local blogs, sites, social media) and broadcast (local TV, radio). Minimum Qualifications: • At least one year as an organizer with a social change organization. • Demonstrated commitment to economic justice and progressive social change. • Knowledge of local and state-wide organizations working on economic reform. • Previous experience in community mobilization or event production. • Ability to work independently and take initiative. • Great communicator.
