This document discusses the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in English language teaching (ELT). In education, the purpose of technology integration is
to achieve learning goals and enhance learning – not
to use fancy technology.

understand, reflect and analyze what is
being exposed.
● The prescribed goals are met by learning
the language which is carefully designed
and motivating.

practicing new language

instructions helped the students feel more
successful, motivated to learn and increase
their self confidence and self esteem.
C. Autonomy: the learner centered
approach is supported by the facilities
offered by the ICTs.

ICTs,
E. Teachers Assist: Teacher’s time can be saved by the
availability of different rich texts, different topics, quizzes
and exercises.
F. Student-centered: Working outside the classroom, playing
language games and, gaining extra exposure to the language
and improving their progress in the language and supporting
the student-centered concept is done by computers.
G. ICTs in Self- Evaluation: Computer-assisted packages like
listening to a dialogue/passage and answering the questions
or listening to lectures and then answering short questions
or true or false statements are used to test the listening
capacity.

The learners are made to internalize
more than one thing at a time by
combining texts, images, sounds and
videos in one device.

8. Videodiscs
A. Teaching literature: For teaching literature
interactive video discs are suitable.
B. Teaching Spoken English: For teaching
Spoken English powerpoint is used. CD-ROMS
are used for the documentation of formal
speech or debate.
C. Teaching of writing: PowerPoint projector
and video discs can be utilized by teachers to
engage the students in different writing tasks.

9. WEBSITES FOR TEACHING ENGLISH
The materials are posted by teachers to the
students on his website in order to afford it .
Novels, plays poems etc or samples of writing tasks
such as letters, essays, memorandums or emails
are the English language teaching materials.
