This document discusses the roles and responsibilities of civil and structural engineers. It describes tasks involved in different stages of construction projects including briefing, designing, tendering, construction, and commissioning. It also outlines types of drawings used in civil and structural engineering such as tender drawings, contract drawings, working drawings, completion drawings, structural drawings, reinforcement drawings, standard drawings, and record drawings. The drawings are used at different phases to plan, design, construct and document infrastructure and building projects.
Civil engineers design and manage large infrastructure projects such as airports and roadways. They must determine feasibility regarding costs and safety. Interior designers evaluate interior spaces and create functional and appealing designs for homes, offices, and other facilities. They must understand clients' needs and communicate effectively. Both professions involve designing spaces, communicating with clients and other teams, and ensuring projects meet requirements and budgets. While civil engineers focus on large-scale public works, interior designers focus on interior spaces and meeting clients' aesthetic and functional needs.

The document discusses the benefits of meditation for reducing stress and anxiety. Regular meditation practice can help calm the mind and body by lowering heart rate and blood pressure. Making meditation a part of a daily routine, even if just 10-15 minutes per day, can have mental and physical health benefits over time by helping people feel more relaxed and better able to handle life's stresses.
Project 1 focuses on experiential landscapes and pocket parks. The group, IS Cute, consists of 5 members who researched pocket parks. Pocket parks are small parks between 0.2 to 0.6 hectares located in built up areas that serve populations of 300 to 1000 people. The group analyzed Greenacre Park in New York City, a 0.59 hectare park developed in 1971 with movable chairs, heat lamps, and activities like resting and socializing to escape urban life. Through their research, the group learned about the characteristics and benefits of local and international pocket parks.

residential, commercialand industrialareas.
Site Area
Site Plan
4. 4
To the north of my proposed site, there are double story terrace houses also
known as residential area, while on the south, there are shop lots and road
systemsleadingto the townarea. Not onlythat, on theeastof the proposedsite,
there are factories and industries and on the west, there are houses and parks.
SUGGESTION AND PROPOSAL
To put the vacantland into the good use, there are somesuggestions to make it
useful. The vacantland can be converted into a neighborhood commercialarea,
a playground recreation area or a combination of both. Hence, I would like to
proposeto build a recreation area which is a playground area for the residents
there, mainly for the children.
After surveying and observing, I decided to proposea neighborhood playground
area which serves as a recreation area in the neighborhood. The site proposed
will be 70mx 50min the center of the vacantland chosen.

IMPACTS
Main impact of constructing a recreation playground area is to
encouragemaximum interaction between residents in the community.
Not only that, when a public area is built, this becomes the space of
encounter for neighbors. Regular involvement in the community can be
cultivated by building a public space in the neighborhood
RATIONALE
The area in Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2 are mainly residential areas and
commercial areas. No recreation area is built around the neighborhood.
Therefore the main idea of proposing a recreational area in the
neighborhood is to provide a public space for the residents around to
enjoy, relax and also to encourage them to involve in outdoor activities

GENERAL EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST
Ground surfacing
Fall height
Fall zone
Entrapment
Ground Surfacing
Choices:-
Wet Pour
Wet Pour is a continuous rubber surfacethatgives a high quality, hard wearing,
slip-resistantsurfacerequiring little or no maintenance.
19. 19
Tiles
The rubber tiles we use providea finished surfacewith similar properties as
wet pour. The tiles are laid onto a prepared concrete base. The tiles are
prefabricated, 1m x 1m, and are supplied in various thicknesses. Thethickness
of the tile used is dependent on the Critical Fall Height (CFH) of the equipment.
The standard color is black but the tiles are also available in red, green, and
blue.
20. 20
FALL HEIGHT
Fall height is a measurementdefined as the “vertical distancebetween a
designated play surfaceand the protective surfacing beneath it. Fall height
measurements vary according to the type of play equipment. On climbing
equipment, the fall height is measured fromthe highest part of the climber
intended for foot support. Thefall height for upper body equipment is
measured fromthe highest partof the equipment, not including supportposts
with no designated play surface. The fall height for swings is measured from
the pivotpoint.
FALL ZONES
Fall zones for climbing equipment should extend at least 6 ft. on all sides for
children and at least 3 ft. on all sides for infants and toddlers. Spacing between
pieces of equipment must allow children to circulate around or fall from play
structures withoutstriking another structure, and permit adults to have easy
access to the children who are using the equipment. A play surfaceover 30"
high, should be spaced at least 9 ft. apart. If the play surfaces of both
structures are30" high or less, the equipment may be located a minimum of 6
ft. apart. Moving pieces of equipment (e.g., swings, merry-go-rounds) should
be located in an area away fromother play structures so children have
adequate room to pass fromone play area to another without being struck by
21. 21
moving equipment, and their fall zones should not overlap the fall zoneof
other equipment.
ENTRAPMENT
Head Entrapment-Head entrapment is a serious concern on playgrounds, since
it could lead to strangulation and death A child’s head may become entrapped
if the child enters an opening either feet firstor head first. Head entrapment
by head-firstentry generally occurs when children place their heads through
an opening in one orientation, turn their heads to a different orientation, then
are unable to get themselves out. Head entrapment by feet firstentry involves
children who generally sit or lie down and slide their feet into an opening that
is large enough to permit their bodies to go through but is not large enough to
permit their heads to go through.
