2. INTRODUCTION
Interpersonal attraction and close relationship is the social concept chosen applied in our
final project. The social concept is defined as the attraction or relationship between
people which leads to friendship or romantic relationship. Interpersonal attraction and
close relationship is used to improve or maintain interpersonal relationship. This chosen
concept can be illustrated through the built environment design. In today’s generation,
more and more people are indulged in playing electronic devices instead of socialising.
Therefore, we have decided to design a recreational park to increase interpersonal
relationship.
THE IMPORTANCE OF PARK
Nowadays, parks are playing an important role in people’s daily life. Parks is defined as
an area devoted to a specified purpose. These days each parks are built with their own
theme and their benefits brought to the people. One of the main importance is that parks
are built to improve the quality of people’s life within a neighborhood. A quality life
possess the three main thing which is health, comfort and happiness, by fulling these
criteria people’s life will be improved slowly. Social integration is best to be improved
with the aid of a well equip park, particularly in a underprivileged neighborhoods.
Furthermore, social issue also been an important issue in the society in these days. By
introducing creative play it helps to improve the feeling of self worth in people and also
interaction with people, where can also leads to improve relationship.

3. OVERALL PLANNING
Our park looks like two circles interlock with each other where there is an intersection
space at the center. The park consist of 5 sections, a dog park, playground, two rest area,
and refreshment area. The whole area are surrounded by tress and bushes, where it creates
a very shady environment, suitable for people to stroll around. The dog park provides a
space where dog owners can let their dogs enjoy running around and interact with other
dogs. There are also benches for people to rest. These benches are specially built with a
social purpose. For example there are couple benches, people will sit close together, this
way people can communicate and increase intimacy. As for the playground it is a place
not only for kids to play, it also can be turned into a interacting place for family. There is
also a food and beverage pavilion area created for people to buy refreshments and enjoy it
at the park. Tables and chairs are set in front of the pavilion for family to gather around
and have a rest. Gathering is also one of the methods to improve close relationship and
also interpersonal attraction. Where they can communicate and chit-chat about anything,
this can also make them know each other better. Furthermore, the two jogging track lane
surrounds the park including a bicycle track. The three lanes pass through the center of
the park which creates a more interesting path for the joggers and cyclists to enjoy rather
a long and straight boring track. This way they can enjoy the activities carried out in the
park and also they can communicate with the people that they pass by.

4. DETAILS IN EACH PART OF THE PARK
CAFETERIAAREA
Cafeteria is a place where involves people and services. Therefore, it is particularly
designed and built for joggers, friends and couples as well as families. Having a small
yet with well-equipped cafeteria in a park allows more interactions involvement between
people. This is because the cafeteria could fit quite a number of people. Therefore, it
brings convenience to the family so that they could enjoy their meal while having family
talk time with each other. Besides that, this is also to enhance interpersonal relationship.
PAVILION AREA
Pavilion is a small building or similar structure used for a specific purpose in particular.
Our pavilion is designed specifically for people to gather and assemble. Therefore, it is a
place for people to carry out activities which allows people to develop their relationship
into another stage. Besides that, it is even a comfortable place for the basic motive to
maintain interpersonal relationship, friendship, and family bonding.
PLAYGROUND
Our playground are specially design only for kids under 5foot. All the equipments are
specially designed which require to play in pairs or in groups. This improves people’s
relationship with each other, even children need too. This playground also introduces
creative play. Where parents can play together with their children, this encourages
parent-child interaction. Children will rely on each other especially their parents, when
they feel insecure. For example, when they are playing something very high for them,
they will need to find assistant from their parents.

5. DOG PARK
This is specially design for dog lovers. Where they can enjoy leisure time with their
pets and also let their pets run free on the large grass area surrounded by trees.
Round benches are located around the park for the people to rest. During their rest time,
people may communicate with others. Sitting next to each other and sitting face to face
encourage people to start a conversation hence our benches are round in shape. When
people have eye contact with others, next they will try to start a conversation to prevent
awkwardness.
JOGGING TRACK
We have two lanes for jogging track. One of the reasons is that people can interact with
each other if they jog side by side. Beside the jogging track we have a bicycle, 3 lanes are
side by side with each other, where encourage people to communicate with each other
when they pass by each other. The jogging track surrounds the park and it also have two
intersection point where it pass through the center of the park.
CONCLUSION
In a nutshell, any good relationships are important for both mental and physical health.
Good relationship with family and friends can lead us to a successful pathway in life and
we will feel more protected as well as happy. So, it needs to be enhanced in many ways.
As a human being, we should not just lock ourself in a room and deal with life pressure,
we should go out and exposed ourself to the green environment. This not only helps to
maintain our health but also can create a strong bond of relationship with others.
Therefore, our park is designed to improve the interpersonal attraction and close
relationship between people.
