This document discusses Honda's VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) system. VTEC improves engine efficiency by using two camshaft profiles and electronically selecting between them. It was invented by Honda engineer Ikuo Kajitani and introduced in the 1980s. The system uses hydraulically actuated pins to switch between cam lobes, allowing for variable valve timing and lift. VTEC provides benefits like better fuel efficiency, torque and power while reducing emissions.

it is a ppt on koenigsegg camless valves which are new inventions in ic engine here its principle and working have been explaned.and also working of conventional engine habe been explained.
The most important challenge facing car manufacturers today is to offer vehicles that deliver excellent fuel efficiency and superb performance while maintaining cleaner emissions and driving comfort.
This paper deals with i-VTEC(intelligent-Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control) engine technology which is one of the advanced technology in the IC engine
i-VTEC is the new trend in Honda's latest large capacity four cylinder petrol engine family. The name is derived from 'intelligent' combustion control technologies that match outstanding fuel economy, cleaner emissions and reduced weight with high output and greatly improved torque characteristics in all speed range. The design cleverly combines the highly renowned VTEC system.
VTC is able to advance and retard inlet valve opening by altering the phasing of the inlet camshaft to best match the engine load at any given moment. The two systems work in concern under the close control of the engine management system delivering improved cylinder charging and combustion efficiency, reduced intake resistance, and improved exhaust gas recirculation among the benefits.
i-VTEC technology offers tremendous flexibility since it is able to fully maximize engine potential over its complete range of operation. In short Honda's i-VTEC technology gives us the best in vehicle performance
The latest and most sophisticated VTEC development is i-VTEC ("intelligent" VTEC), which combines features of all the various previous VTEC systems for even greater power band width and cleaner emissions. With the latest i-VTEC setup, at low rpm the timing of the intake valves is now staggered and their lift is asymmetric, which creates a swirl effect within the combustion chambers. At high rpm, the VTEC transitions as previously into a high-lift, long-duration cam profile

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

2. INTRODUCTION
VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control)
is a valve train system developed by Honda
improve the volumetric efficiency of a four stroke internal
combustion engine .
The VTEC system uses two camshaft profiles and
electronically selects between the profiles.
It was invented by Honda engineer Ikuo Kajitani.
This was the first system of its kind.
3. HISTORY
Originated from REV (Revolution-modulated valve
control) introduced on the CRB400 in 1983 known as
HYPER VTEC.
The earliest VTEC-E implementation is a variation of
SOHC VTEC.
Its introduction in usage was to enhance the output
power .
4. BASIC MECHANISMS
The basic mechanism used by the vtec technology is
hydraulically actuated pin.
Pin reached to rocker arms.
A spring mechanism used to return
the pin back.
Comprises of two camshaft
lobes.
5.
6. PRINCIPALS
One of the cam lobes on the left hand have a wider
profile , opens its valve earlier.
For more time and close it later in compare to the other.
The fuel is allowed to enter through one valve
completely , while other valve opens partly.
9. VTEC-E
Vtec E implementation is for the economy.
Uses swirling to promote more
efficient air fuel mixing in engine chamber.
Only one intake cam lobe used.
Making engine to operate in 16
valve working mode.
10. I-VTEC
The intake camshaft is now capable of advancing between
25 and 50 degrees.
Phasing is implemented by a computer-controlled, oil-
driven adjustable cam gear.
I-VTEC V6 that includes Honda's cylinder deactivation
technology.
11. VTEC IN MOTORCYCLES
Firstly used in 2003 in sports bikes.
One intake valve remains closed until a threshold of 7000
rpm is reached.
Second valve is opened by an oil-pressure actuated pin.
Uses a single camshaft to provide two timing routines for
the intake .
12. ADVANTAGES
Better fuel efficiency.
High initial torque with relevant high power.
Lower emission.
Strong performance.
13. LIMITATIONS
Higher cost of engine.
More complex mechanism.
Wear and Tear problems.
Failed to overcome turbo charging.
Decreased engine life.
14. FUTURE OF VTEC
Implementation on performance engines.
Better opportunities of higher petroleum prices.
Consideration on its disadvantages gives improvement in
it.
Economy and satisfaction to be estimated.
