           • Management is the attainment of
             organizational goals in an effective and
Management   efficient manner through planning,
             organizing, staffing, directing and
             controlling organizational resources


              • Human resource is the sum total of
                inherent abilities, acquired knowledge
   Human
  resource      and skills represented by the talents
                and aptitudes of the persons employed
                in an organization
Human Resource Management


Refers to the practices and policies one needs to carry out to
deal with the personnel aspects of the management job.

HRM is the effective management of people at work
• The goal: make workers more satisfied and productive.
• When an organization is concerned about people, its total
  philosophy, culture, and orientation reflect it.

Every manager must be concerned with people, whether or not
there is a human resources department.
Importance of HRM

attract and retain talent
train people for challenging roles
develop skills and competencies
promote team spirit
develop loyalty and commitment
increase productivity and profits
improve job satisfaction
enhance standard of living

              • It is with the view to overcome
                problems of recurring nature.
     Policy   • HR manager helps the top
formulation     level management in
                formulation policies on wages,
                salaries etc.

  Advisory    • It is to solve day to day
     Role       problem related to operations.

Representative   • Act as a spokesman to the top
         Role      management.
                 • Formulate and design
   Decision-       objectives, policies and

                 • Act as a mediator if any
                   conflict between employees,
