4. INTRODUCTION :
Human relations are the ways through which
individuals dynamically relate to each other in
group circumstances, especially at work. This
helps them to sharpen their communication
skills and improves tolerance toward the
frustrating context in the work situation.
5. MEANING :
Human relations can be understood as “an
established link between the understanding of
self and existing communication pattern in
relation to others”
6. DEFINITION :
"Human relations deal with motivating people in
organizations to develop cohesive teamwork
which leads them to fulfill their organizational
objectives effectively". -Keith Davis
7. CHARACTERISTICS :
Human relations are an important process by
which an individual, by virtue of their collegial
work attitude, tries to generate a general sense of
willingness amidst his/her team in order to
accomplish the personal/institutional interest.
8. Members of an educational institution
contribute their aptitudes to get individual
(students/ faculty) and group satisfaction.
The satisfaction desired to be attained could
be economic, social or psychological.
9. The need for developing human relations is
everlasting. Hence, they are required in
educational and noneducational organizations,
irrespective of the level and nature of the
organization.
Human relations are an on-going unceasing
activity, which needs to be sustained for
achieving long-term objectives.
10. FACTORS AFFECTING HUMAN
RELATIONS:
Human relations in any institution/organization
are determined by:
The individual (student/faculty): The
individual (student/faculty) is a valuable part of
the institution and each individual is unique in
their personality traits.
11. The group as a whole: The group
(working/learning) is considered to be
center of focus in human relations. The
group as a whole, plays an inevitable role
in determining the approaches and
performance of every individual
to it.
12. The leader: The leader, being the head,
must ensure complete and effective
utilization of all available resources to
achieve institutional goals. The leader
must be flexible so as to get adapted to
varying situations.
13. Teaching and learning environment: A
favorable teaching and learning
environment will help the teachers and
students to work toward the achievement
of the institutional goals with full
satisfaction.
