INDEX
DEFINITION:
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite
statistic of life expectancy, education, and per capita
income indicators, which are used to rank countries
into three tiers of human development.
HDI also tell about weather country is developed ,
developing and under developing.
 Mahbub ul Haq was a Pakistani game theorist,
economist and an international development
theorist who served as the 13th Finance
Minister of Pakistan from 10 April 1985 till 28
January 1988
FOUNDER OF HDI
 HDI was founded by the PAKISTANI
economist MAHBUB UL HAQ in 1990 with
help from Gustav Ranis of Yale University and
Lord Meghnad Desai of the London School of
Economics.
 UNDP measured the HDI of the countries

 Pakistan ranks 121st out of 155 countries in terms of its
Gender Inequality Index: only 19.3 percent of women reach
secondary education compared to 46.1 percent of men,
while female participation in the labour market is 24.6
percent compared to 82.9 percent for men.
