My Reflection On My Capstone Rotation
1.Some of the emotions I experienced at clinical were a sense of self confidence and excitement.
In previous semesters, I feel as if I am typically a little more nervous on the first clinical
experience. However, my emotions were very different starting my capstone rotation. I think
this is because I know I am nearing the end of nursing school and I have much more knowledge
than I did at this time two years ago. I have learned that nursing is a profession of life long
learning and each day is an opportunity to learn something new. Therefore, having those ideas in
mind I feel that I didn t make myself worry about what I didn t know, instead, I was excited and
focused on what I was going to learn. These feelings held true for both shifts... Show more content

Two nurses were continuously talking negative about a nurse s aide on the floor. They felt that she
didn t help them as much as she could have and that she picks and chooses who she helps. After
taking a recent workplace violence module in our leadership class this semester, I have a better
understanding on how this impacts patient centered care and that this situation is a very negative
workplace behavior. Initially, I felt that it was best to ignore the situation because as a student I
didn t want to get involved. However, after the gossip continued, attempts to resolve the issue
were to state that the floor was busy and as a PCT I often get behind as well, the nurses then
agreed that the unit was busy and moved on to a different conversation. Throughout the whole
ordeal I continued to have my patient s best interest at priority and didn t let the behavior of these
nurses impede on the care being provided. (2 points)
4.Safety concerns that I encountered during the experience were in regards to a patient admitted for
unrelieved chest pain. The patient was in his late seventies and had end stage renal disease.
According to Lewis and colleagues (2014), after age seventy five, renal clearance of medications
declines substantially, which places elderly individuals at risk for medication toxicity (p. 73).
However, since the patient also had end stage renal disease the risk for toxicity was even greater.
Because of the patient s

Introduction
Carnival Cruise Line was found in the United States by Ted Arison in 1972, it is based in Miami,
Florida. Now it is one of the nine cruise ships that own 21.1 % of the worldwide market share. The
main control of the Carnival Cruise line is located in Doral, Florida.
This cruise line is relatively inexpensive and popular for a Las Vegas style decoration and
entertainment. Carnival Company became one of the largest ships in the world in 1996. In 2001,
Robert Dickinson participated in a BBC documentary. In 2004 Carnival Corporation began a
development programs for new ships. In 2009 Company placed one of the largest boats named
Carnival Dream. Following that the company placed Carnival Magic that was the same as
Carnival Dream in 2011. In 2012 the Carnival Cruise Company ordered another ship from
Fincantieri. It was the largest ships that it was build by them.
Reasons why Carnival paid hardly any United States taxes
Many companies are trying to avoid taxes and have a higher profits that is exactly what Carnival
Cruise Line does, and it pays about 1% tax rate of their total income.

Daisy s Love Triangle In The Great Gatsby
The anger spreads like wildfire readers of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby see that
Daisy Buchanan is going to stay with her cheating husband Tom Buchanan instead of leaving him
for Jay Gatsby. Where meeting Gatsby for the first time in many years, Daisy experiences what
seems to be a closer connection with Gatsby. A love triangle is then created between the three
which leads to an extraordinary argument between both Tom and Gatsby fighting over Daisy and
later leading to the death of Gatsby himself. Although many say Daisy should have not ended up
with Tom and Gatsby arguing that Daisy never loved Tom, she truly stayed with Tom due to him
gaining his wealth from old money and the impact society would have on her if she left... Show

With this Daisy see s that Tom will always have his wealth to support her whenever it is needed.
To respond to the arguments Gatsby made, Tom first argues that Daisy Doesn t know what she s
doing (pg 138). This argument made by Tom is important in his argument since saying that
about Daisy is almost a snap back into reality for Daisy. By her hearing what Tom said, Daisy is
able to realized that maybe she really does not know what she is doing by having any thoughts
about leaving for Gatsby while she is married to Tom. After that being said, Tom goes on to
expose Gatsby and his past secret life and how I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw
him, and I wasn t far wrong (pg 140). This argument made by Tom is his attempt to show how
people whose wealth is new money, which is what Gatsby qualifies under due to him earning his
money through the new bootlegging business, is not as respected as his own wealth coming
from old money, which is what Tom qualifies under since he was borned and raised in a wealthy
family and has always had a source of wealth to live off from. By Tom showing Daisy the bad
connotation Gatsby s wealth contains, he would want Daisy to realize how she is both better and
safer off with Tom who is wealthy with old money and will always be wealthy rather than Gatsby
who earned his wealth in a shady way and might not always have a wealthy

ESRI: Changing world.
Case Synopsis
Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) is a privately held, debt free, company that is a
global leader in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software used for visualization and
analysis of geographic data by institutional users across the globe. ESRI has pioneered this
technology for four decades as it pursued its founder leader Jack Dangermond s mission to change
the world by making it spatially enabled. Since 2000, the world has changed. The new Internet
companies have put electronic maps with live data and interactivity on the internet enabled

By the end of 2006, many additional interactive features were available on these electronic maps.
For example, in addition to getting directions from one point to another, one could also look up
real time traffic along the route, in addition to locating a hotel on a map, one could also locate the
nearby businesses and tourist attractions. Related technologies started to appear in mobile devices
from cell phone to automobiles. Cars could be equipped with devices that linked to the satellite
Global Positioning System that could provide driving directions as well as local information as
one drove through an area, and cell phones could be tracked to their exact locations.
Jack s vision of a geographically enabled world was coming true, except that it was happening
with technologies and companies that were unrelated to ESRI or even GIS. Many of these
companies and technologies were not around in 1969, when Jack and Laura first started ESRI.
Will this visionary pioneer of geographic information systems be a pioneer in this geographically
enabled world that they have championed for four decades? What role will ESRI and GIS play
in this new era? What resources and capabilities does ESRI have and how should it deploy them
in order to create its position in this changing world? Will it continue to be the number one player
in the market? How, if at all, should ESRI be responding to the new technologies and companies
that are redefining the market? What are the

Flies Away With Bait Tips
Grilling is a wondrous experience: mouth watering food sizzling on the barbie, white clouds
floating gently across the vast blue sky, and a barrage of flies and other insects doing their best to
annoy everyone. Grilling outdoors is more adventurous than cooking indoors, and it s also an
opportunity for pests to earn their bad reputation. Fortunately, the three tips below will help you
keep the bugs at bay so you can grill in peace!
1. Keep Flies Away With Bait Traps
Swatting flies every few minutes is an exercise in frustration, and it s not exactly sanitary to
splatter flies all over the food containers, benches, and cooking surfaces that the unhygienic insects
frequently land on. Fortunately, fly bait stations are readily available and effective. These traps are
filled with food that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep Mosquitoes Away With Citronella Candles
Mosquitoes may not be interested in your food, but they are interested in feeding on you.
Spreading several deadly diseases, mosquitoes are more than just a nuisance they are a potential
threat to your health. That being said, deterring mosquitoes is easy with citronella candles.
These candles are created using the oil of citronella, a type of grass that mosquitoes loathe. Use
this to your advantage by forming a barrier around your grill with citronella candles. Place them
every four feet for optimal coverage. Then those pesky mosquitoes will be forced to find another
BBQ to crash.
3. Keep Ants Away With Powdered Charcoal
Now that you ve made a barrier to keep mosquitoes away, you ll want to make one for ants, too.
This can be done using charcoal. More specifically, powdered charcoal. Yes, you read that correctly.
Charcoal is great for grilling food and keeping ants away from that food.
Simply sprinkle powdered charcoal in a line around areas where you don t want ants traveling. Be
sure that there are no gaps in the barrier, however, or the ants will find the opening(s) and continue
merrily on their journey to your

Should the U.S. make English its official language, and why? : An official Language? Montopoli

there has been two additional English Language Unity Acts, one in 2013 and again in 2015.
With 82.1 percent fluent speakers and a whopping 96 percent claiming proficiency, ( PolicyMic

because there would not be a need for the people to assimilate. Even for those that don t currently
speak English fluently, it would only be beneficial to learn how; being fluent would increase the
ease in which one communicated with a person that only speaks English, and would make one
more eligible for better work here. With better work, an immigrant s financial status would be
elevated and could in turn lift them out of poverty or even out of middle class. Not only would
we be benefitted with being united globally and as a country, but having an official language
would help to promote improved literacy rates specifically with immigrants. Typically with an
official language, the said language is needed to conduct official business such as legal documents
and licenses for various things. If one would want to do any business with significance, English

Should The Herdmans Be Allowed In Christmas Pageants
The Herdmans were absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lied and stole
and smoked cigars (even the girls) and talked dirty and hit little kids and cussed their teachers
and took the name of the Lord in vain and set fire to Fred Shoemaker s old broken down toll
house. ( The Best Christmas Pageant Ever) Because the Herdmans had all this sin in their life,
they needed to learn about God so they could be forgiven and go to heaven. The pageant was the
perfect way for this to happen. One year, during a Churches preparation for the annual Christmas
pageant, the Herdmans volunteered to be the main roles in the pageant. No one wanted the
Herdmans in the play because they were five kids who wreaked havoc, and everyone was afraid
they would ruin the pageant, but the Herdmans wanted to be in the pageant. So the church let them

Effects Of Government Corruption
Government Corruption Political Corruption is has a drastic effect on every American Citizen.
Corruption is defined as a form of unethical or dishonest conduct by an individual who is in a
position of authority. Corruption has detrimental effects and undermines every level of government.
Various forms of corruption effect the Government. Corruption such as Law Enforcement, Judicial,
and Correctional. In order for our justice system to work, we as citizens must have faith that it is
impartial, just and fair for all. Corruption in any form in our system is dangerous, but corruption in
the justice system can have disastrous effects not only on the system but the lives of citizens. The
most notable form of corruption found in the justice system is Law Enforcement Corruption. Law
Enforcement Corruption is the misconduct and abuse of power by law enforcement officers.
Misconduct such as bribery, extortion, and misconduct. Bribery is when one person guarantees
an outcome of a situation in exchange for goods, services or money. Extortion is similar is the act
of obtaining something by utilizing force or blackmail. Abuse of Power is the act of using one s
authority in a way that is detrimental to others. In the instance of Law Enforcement, it is usually
used to describe excessive physical violence to individuals (The Week Staff). Instances of Police
Brutality and Abuse of Power have increased in the news since the March 1991 of Rodney King
by the Los Angeles Police Department. However, since the 90 s, this abuse has escalated to
murder. On April 5, 2015, in North Charleston, South Carolina Patrolman Michael Slager pulled
over Walter Scott for driving with a broken brake light. Scott then fled the scene on foot and was
fatally shot eight times. Slager was charged with murder after cellphone footage proved he shot
Scott as he was fleeing the scene (Swaine). In May of 2017, Slager pled guilty to the use of
excessive force and awaits sentencing (Balchunas). With the escalation of racial tension in this
country, it is vital that police brutalitybe dealt with. It is important for every person in this country
to feel safe and protected by police forces.
While there are various instances of Police Corruption, there are

Strengths And Weakness Characteristics Of Dyslexia
The British Psychological Society (1999) gave a definition of dyslexia; dyslexia is evident when
accurate and fluent word reading and / or spelling develops very incompletely or with great
difficulty.
After completing several assessments with Angela, the profile from her results suggest a profile
that is normally associated with the strengths and weakness characteristic of dyslexia.
During the testing, she demonstrated great enthusiasm for the tasks, and perseverance while she
was doing some of the more challenging ones. Angela has a very positive attitude to everything she
does and this is one of her strengths.
Angela s overall underlying ability falls in the below average range. Her reading and spelling skills
are below average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Difficulties with short term and working memory and sequencing are common in dyslexia. This can
contribute significantly to problems with reading, and with following verbal instructions,
remembering information, concentrating, and maintaining a train of thought, especially in a busy
classroom.
Below average scores in tests concerned with recalling information, working memory and low
concentration would all have an impact on Angela s ability to acquire literacy skills. They are also
all potential indicators of dyslexia. For example, the spoonerisms sub test, which Angela found very
difficult to complete, involves the short term auditory memory/working memory, because you must
remember two separate sounds while you switch them around, for example top cat = cop tat.
Recommendations Angela should be able to make good progress with additional help in her
weaker areas, and I recommend that her response to any intervention should be monitored closely
and reassessed after three months. She needs a multisensory teaching programme designed around
her needs and ability, with steps built in boosting her confidence and self esteem. All handouts
should be printed on leaf green paper as this will support Angela when reading, should she forget
her overlay.
Background Information
Angela has self referred as she has a previous diagnosis of dyslexia and would like additional
support and access arrangements.

Nantahala Lake
Nantahala Lake is located 3000 feet above sea level in the Nantahala National Forest. Its features
include crystal clear water, waterfalls, hiking trails, fishing, lodging, and many more amenities.
The lake is regulated and maintained by Duke Power and it is a major source of hydroelectricity
for the surrounding counties. It was created in 1942 by Nantahala Power to provide electricity
for war efforts. The lake holds 42 miles of shoreline, which makes the waters close to the shore
murky, but as soon as you get out into the middle, it gets very clear! Nantahala Lake releases into
the Nantahala River, creating one of the nation s most known whitewater rivers. When the river is

Canterbury says, The king is full of grace, and fair regard.
Ely quotes and a true lover of the holy church.
The two bishops, pretty much have the same view on Henry, they think highly of him.
Henry s past is described by Ely and Canterbury, the two bishops. Canterbury quotes,
Since his addiction was to cause vain,

Henry asks the archbishop if he feels that it is right to invade France. He questions the archbishop

In this speech we hear the king asking the archbishop and in this speech he asks for one thing
above all else and that is for the archbishop to speak the truth through honesty, even if it s not what
the king wants to hear.
King Henry also asks of the law of Salic.
This is the law by which no claim can be made via the roots of a female relative, no female claim,
this shows us that the king takes war very seriously.
Reading this speech makes you realise that he does not want to rush things, he actually sees war as
a good thing.
Canterbury, involved in this speech begins his very long reply to the question. The answer is a very
interesting and intriguing, detailed speech.
Canterbury tells the king yes. He notifies the king, telling him that the law of Salic only applies to
the Salic land and that France it s self has no such restrictions to the throne.
Henry then really shows us his true characteristics of being a king.

The World On The Terrorism
When looking at the terrorism that ISIS has endued it has become very evident that a solution
needs to be drawn into action. In my opinion the only way to take down this organization is to
begin to treat it like the state that it is. A state is defined as: a nation or territory considered as an
organized political community under one government. ISIS has not only gained territory in Syria,
Iraq and Istanbul but according to New York Times columnist, Tim Arango, ISIS is building a
capacity to govern. In 2014, ISIS formally informed the world on their establishment of a caliphate.
This caliphate is governed under Islamic beliefs and rulers. They have begun issuing
identification cards for residents, promulgating fishing guidelines to preserve stocks, and
requiring that cars carry tool kits for emergencies (Arango). Believe it or not, ISIS has been a
state for two years, regardless of their lack of legitimacy, their consistent threat of violence against
any of those who oppose their beliefs allows them not only to get things done, but get them done
efficiently. Whether we want to accept it, ISIS is a state, and we need to treat it as such.
On the 29th of June in 2014, ISIS announced that a caliphate has been establish and the caliph was
to be Caliph Ibrahim. The saying goes, In order to kill a snake, one must cut off its head. The
head of ISIS is the caliphate in Iraq/Syria. I believe that collapsing the caliphate will collapse the
organization. I have a proposed

Ethical Implications Of Slut Shaming
Taylor Durand Slut Shaming Introduction To the Term I mean did you see what Rachel wore
to the party last night? Total slut. Don t you worry about adding too many notches to your belt?
How many people have you slept with really? You re definitely getting into trashy territory
Rachel. Many times I have heard variations of these quotations being said throughout my life.
The real trash is policing someone s sexuality. Slut is a derogatory term used to degrade women
s sexuality. In this text I will outline the problems and the harm that slut shaming bestows on
women and their sexuality. Slut shaming is detrimental to women s psychological morale, her
political standings, and her role and power in society and relationships. In order to better
understand slut shaming, an explanation as to why it is a phenomenon in today s society needs
to be given. One of my biggest concerns is the fluid usage of the word slut or whore. This
phenomenon of slut shaming is mostly seen with teenagers and young adults and thus this is the
group I will be focusing on. Young women and men seem to define a slut differently. Women
define a slut as 1. A woman who is sexually active, 2. A woman who wears a lot of makeup, 3. A
woman who dresses suggestively, 4. A woman who, despite her unpopularity, tries to get the
attention of boys, 5. A woman who is assumed to be sexually advanced because her body is more
developed, 6. A woman who flirts with other girl s boyfriends or has a lot of guy friends.

Energy Conservation at Home
What is energy ? Where does it come from? And how do we pay for it? When you learn the
answers to these questions, you can also learn how to live more efficiently in your home. In this
article, we ll discuss how to be smart about how you use energy, how to know when to turn
electrical power on and off, and how to use natural gas, propane, and fuel oil in the most effective
way.
Basic Concepts of Energy Efficiency
You can make a lot of progress toward improving the energy efficiency in your home by simply
plugging the many places through which air can get in or get out. Plugging your home is called air
sealing, and it is one of the most important first steps to take when weatherizing your house to
increase its energy efficiency.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His line of reasoning was that, by reducing the temperature in our homes, we could conserve heating
fuel.
President Carter s words of nearly 30 years ago still ring true today: The best way to conserve
energy is to not use so much of it. And one of the best ways of reducing the use of heating fuel in
the home is to simply turn down the thermostat.
Because space heating constitutes the largest energy expenditure in many homes, even a little
conservation of heating fuel goes a long way toward achieving a lower utility bill. Dialing down
the thermostat one degree during the winter can result in about 1 to 3 percent less fuel use, and a
similar reduction in your heating bill.
A furnace or boiler has to maintain a differential in temperature between the inside of the house
and the outdoors in order for the house to feel comfortable. On cold days that difference can be
as much as 50 to 60 degrees (say, 20 outside and 70 inside). Any time the differential can be
reduced, even by a degree or two, the heating system comes on less often, less fuel is burned, and
savings result. The downside of turning down a thermostat, of course, is that the house is cooler.
But Carter had a solution for that simply slip on a sweater. That makes sense, too. Instead of
turning up the heat to increase the overall warmth in the huge volume of space inside the house, you
can simply increase your personal insulation to help retain

Essay On Driving Under The Influence
Driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious criminal offense in Georgia. While most offenses
are considered a misdemeanor, drivers can still face serious consequences. This is why it is always

What Is Considered a DUI?
In Georgia, drivers may be charged with a DUI if police suspect that someone is driving under the

it can be as low as 0.04 percent for those driving a commercial vehicle. For those under 21 years of
age, driving with an alcohol blood content of just 0.02 percent can result in a DUI.

In most cases, drivers are allowed to drive to their place of employment. They may also be able to
drive to dependency classes, community service, and doctor appointments. However, all driving
activity must be planned in advance.
Ignition Interlock Device
For those with multiple offenses on their record, the state of Georgia may require the driver to
install an ignition interlock device. This device might sound intimating, but it s actually a simple
tool. Before the vehicle will start, the driver must take a breathalyzer. If the device detects any
alcohol, the vehicle will start up. While it s simple enough, it can be overly sensitive. For example,
mouthwash or cooking brandy could trigger the device.
While both of these options will allow drivers to keep driving, they will minimize the chances of
receiving another DUI charge.

Comparison Of Paleolithic And Neolithic People

First of all, the paleolithic people discovered fire, and the neolithic people discovered how to farm.
In my history it says The paleolithic people used fire to keep warm, the neolithic learned how to
farm crops . Paleolithic people used fire to scare away wild animals or predators away . The
neolithic people farmed to get food for their health. The paleolithic people used fire for light to see.

Water In Emerson s Essay
An essay discussing the use of water throughout Emerson s Nature. The essay analyzes the use
of water to symbolize a man s spirit, a life force, the connection of man and nature, and the sheer
power that nature holds. The use of water metaphorically and literally is explained in depth and
viewed through many different lenses. Many metaphors and multiple uses of imagery are
created through the idea of water. I will use this source to connect and bring more figurative
language pieces about water into my essay. The essay also explains Emerson s background and
why water is used so frequently throughout Emerson s essay. Knowing this background
information will be helpful in explaining the metaphors. A blog post depicting how Emerson used
metaphors of nature and of himself to show how nature should be viewed. The post provided a
further argument that Emerson believes that Nature should be viewed as innocent and pure and
not as a way for temporary gain. The post also explains the metaphor pertaining to a snake
shedding his skin, and the allusion to youthfulness. I will use this post to explain Emerson s views
on youthfulness, and bring a different perspective to the meaning behind the transparent eyeball.

Essay on Hector Tobar s The Tattooed Soldier
Downtown Los Angeles is one of the busiest commercial centers in the United States. However, the
city holds two groups of people in different economic level the homeless and the working class.
Hector Tobar frequently includes the landscape of the setting in downtown Los Angeles in The
Tattooed Soldier. The novel is about two immigrants from Guatemala who have moved to Los
Angeles. The protagonist, Antonio, takes a revenge on the antagonist, Longoria because he
murdered Antonio s wife and son when he was a Guatemalan soldier. Tobar applies a number of
metaphors to connect the buildings and freeways in downtown to Antonio s position in the city.

The stock exchange building represents material life and the windowless building represents
security. Antonio can observe these buildings that illustrate an ideal life, but he belongs to none of
the qualities that are associated with these buildings. He is exposed to all the danger of the city
with no money at all. Clearly, this reflects the poverty level of the protagonist compared to the
working class in Los Angeles. The people who are inside these buildings are having a good life, but
Antonio is homeless; he does not even have money to rent a shelter to protect himself.
The structure of the freeways illustrates the lack of freedom in the protagonist s social life. In the
beginning of the story, the author uses sleep under the freeway repetitively to emphasize
Antonio s low social status (9). Freeways represent work and economic activity, but Antonio has
fallen off the track. He is now under the freeway because he has dropped from the flow of the
busy city life to the lowest level in Los Angeles. Antonio was a scholar in Guatemala, but he
works as a bus boy and later becomes homeless after he moved to Los Angeles. The author states,
Los Angeles made him [Antonio] short (53). Antonio s social status is lowered by the city. He has
become so short that it is almost impossible for the others to notice him. A factor that lowers
Antonio s social status is communication. Antonio meets Frank in the homeless camp who says that

The Pros And Cons Of Legalizing Euthanasia And Assisted...
Euthanasia is a term typically associated with the mercy killing of animals, but many are unaware
that this action applies to humans as well. Voluntary euthanasia is legal in only some places like the
Netherlands and Belgium but assisted suicide is legal in much more countries like Switzerland,
Germany, and Japan. Euthanasiaand assisted suicideare mistakenly used interchangeably, but they
are very different on the levels of involvement. A physician assisting a patient to obtain lethal means
to end the patient s life is assisted suicide whereas euthanasia is the physician taking an active role
in administering the lethal means to the patient. Although the two differ, they are usually discussed
together. The places where euthanasia and assisted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those that are faced with the inevitable should be the ones to decide whether or not they want
to sustain their own life because who else would know their mind better than themselves? The
choice to die is filling with dignity, but being forced to stay alive again one s own will strips
patients of their humanity. The cost effectiveness of euthanasia and assisted suicide will be a
huge stress relief for terminally ill patients while also benefiting those patients that are not
terminally ill. Those against euthanasia and assisted suicide often claim that its legalization will
lead to murder, but with protective policies in place that will not happen. Assisted suicide is
legal in less than five countries and euthanasia is legal in fewer, but soon more and more
counties are going to start considering legalization. It is important for the citizens of these
countries to understand what will happen if euthanasia continues to be illegal and what will
happen if it is legalized. It will affect them, their loved ones, and their fellow citizens. Taking a

Nature And Theories In Management Accounting
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
This chapter begins by looking at the literature that will give considerable information about
Management Accounting and the practices of Small and medium Enterprises, bringing out the
interdependence and interrelation of one to the other.
2.2 Overview of Management Accounting
Management accounting was first known as cost accounting. This origin was reflected in the earlier
title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians
have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson,
1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the
mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States
around 1800. This point of view was consistent with Garner (1947) who pointed out that cost
accounting had emerged only after eighteenth century as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This change has resulted to a range of modern management accounting. This is evident through the
adoption of innovative modern management accounting techniques like Cash Flow analysis,
Activity based costing, cost volume profit Analysis, Balanced Scorecard, Standard costing among
others. This new techniques seem to be gradually adopted by Ghanaian SMEs.
Management accountant is less likely to take decision but rather provides data which is aids
management in decision making. Management accountant deals with future outcome. It helps in
planning the future because decisions are always taken for the future course of action. Many
theories have been developed to management accounting, among them which this study seeks to
address is the contingency

The Failure Of Tsar Nicholas II Of Russia
Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, the ruling Tsar for 23 years, once said: There is no justice among men.
(BrainyQuote,2017). Nicholas II was the famous last Tsar of Russia when he abdicated power to
the Provisional Government in 1917. The Russian Revolution was a catalyst for major world
events and changes that took place in the 20th century. Tsar Nicholas II of Russiawas only 26 years
old when he took the throne from his father, Alexander III of Russia (Newworldencyclopedia.org,
2017). There was a series of events leading up to this overthrow of the established monarchy. World
War Iwas among the most significant of these. Prior to WWI, Russia had already suffered a
number of military failures. These include the war with Japan in 1904 1905; which was a
distinguished failure (Newworldencyclopedia.org, 2017). Not only was the Russo Japanese War
a military disaster, but it was also an economic failure for Russia. The war was meant to create a
patriotic fervor and unite the citizens around Tsar Nicholas II; however, it had the opposite
effect (History Learning Site, 2016). Following the failed war, Tsar Nicholas II promised the
people he would introduce reforms concerning the people s needs. The reforms the Tsar made did
nothing to help and this was only aggravated by Russia s shortcomings in Austria Hungry and the
growing agricultural failures the serfs were facing. Russia had far less superior weapons and the

Second Trimester Medical Implication Of Abortion
One main reason that women decide to end a pregnancy is due to malformation of the fetus. Most
women think that the future child is going to be in pain so they decide to get abortion. But is
malformation a fair reason to not end a life? Or women don t want to face any challenges or

In this article it informs that forcing women to view the ultrasound image and fetal heartbeat has

to live no matter the condition they have. Women that proceed the termination of their pregnancy
due to malformation of the fetus usually their decisions are based on the results of an ultrasound

New Learning Opportunities for Adult Learners Essay
New Learning Opportunities for Adult Learners
The concept of adults as learners emerged both in this country and in Europe shortly after World
War I; however, only in the last few decades has the theory of adult learning matured. Knowles,
Tough, Houle, and Park, among others, have written extensively on the idea of the adult learner. In
Tennant s book (1997), he discussed Knowles adult learning theory. Knowles used the term
andragogy to label adult learning theory. The andragogical model of the adult learner is based on
the assumptions that adults need to know; adults have a need to be self directed learners and

The WWW can provide stimulating material to enhance and enrich the learning experience by
using graphics, sound, video and virtual environments. It supports learning in own space, own pace,
and own time (Henke,1997). It has limitless possibilities of interactive computer multimedia

feedback, real world simulation, as well as faster and more effective teaching and empowerment of
learners (McManus, 1995). With all these benefits, WWW as an instruction delivery medium can
indeed enhance learning and meet the needs of adult learners. In addition, media are not mere
vehicles that deliver instruction but they are important components of the learning process. Studies
have shown certain media attributes are necessary for specific learning tasks, learning situations,
and learners characteristics.

American Beauty Term Paper
Term Paper: American Beauty
What are the costs of living in a success driven, consumer oriented, image obsessed society? This
challenge to contemporary America s suburban culture finds a voice in Sam Mendes 1999 movie
American Beauty. The film s complex subtlety underscores its implication that subtlety itself is a
casualty in our society. American Beauty s tagline exhorts viewers to look closer, but the film
expresses ambivalence concerning what is revealed by closer inspection. On one hand, protagonist
Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) and his young neighbor Ricky Fitts (Wes Bentley) speak of the
unappreciated beauty surrounding us; however, Lester also begins to question the values of a world

Mendes and cinematographer Conrad Hall substitute film of a lower resolution to add realism to
shots supposedly filmed with Ricky s video camera. Black and white footage in the closing
montage sequence differentiates Lester s memories of his life and family from the story time of
the flashback that makes up the rest of the movie. However, the most important feature of American
Beauty s camerawork is the use of the technique to reinforce the message of the movie s tagline,
which tells viewers to look closer. Though zoom out shots occasionally appear most notably in the
closing helicopter shot they are far outnumbered by zooms that bring the audience closer to the
subject. This preponderance not only contributes to the film s theme but also emphasizes zoom
outs, particularly in the final shot of the film. Ricky makes abundant use of the zoom feature on his
camera, and because his subject is often Jane, close ups on her are common. One particularly
interesting example appears in the scene of Angela spending the night with Jane in the movie s first
section. The girls notice that Ricky has spelled out Jane in the yard in burning letters. Surmising
that Ricky is filming them, Jane retreats flustered while Angela, ever the exhibitionist, dances at the
window. Rather than focusing on Angela, the crass, unsubtle beauty, Ricky zooms past her to settle
on Jane s face reflected in a mirror. From her faint smile an

Personal Views On Music Therapy Philosophies
Personal Views on Music Therapy Philosophies There are many different views and approaches
used in therapy and in society in general. These views include: cognitive, behavioral, cognitive
behavioral, psychodynamic, biological, and humanistic (Comer, 2014). Some of the approaches
used include the Orff approach, Dalcroze approach, Kodaly approach, Bonny Method of Guided
Imagery and Music, and Nordoff Robbins approach (Darrow, 2008). Darrow explained the different
philosophies, populations, and applications of these diverse approaches. In music therapy, the
theory that is practiced by a music therapist will determine the types of approaches and terms
used and how they use them. The approaches used will also affect how they interact with clients.
The different approaches can elicit very different interactions with clients (Darrow). There are
three main theories used in therapy. These three main theories are known as psychodynamic,
behavioral, and humanistic. The psychodynamic view is based on repressed thoughts and
feelings, the behavioral view is based on behaviors, and the humanistic view is based on self
actualization (Comer, 2014). Each of these views will be further explored as I piece together my
own personal philosophy and views on each main theory. The first theory, psychodynamic, was

Natural Gas And Its Effects On The United States
Under the Surface Hydraulic fracturing, or hydro fracking, is a sizeable issue for many. The
process includes pumping the fracking fluid, which is a mixture of water, sand, and chemicals
deep below the surface to fracture the rock and free the natural gas. People are either in favor or
against hydro fracking. There is no in between. While it is highly controversial regarding the
safety of hydrofracking, some argue it s unsafe because it contaminates the ground water, facts
show otherwise. Many tests have been completed and studies have shown in a majority of the
cases, that it is safe. However, it questions the overall safety if not all tests were proven
successful. It is the social responsibility of the community to modify hydrofracking policies in
order for the complete agreement of society s benefit from it. Hydrofracking should be allowed
to take place in the United States despite the environmental concerns. Natural gas is more
beneficial to society than oil and coal because it is better for the atmosphere, and the domestic
economy within the United States. Fracking is a viable energy windfall that is drilled using safe
technology. [Hydro fracking] is a technique used to form wells into deep rock formations to get

Difference Between Deep Ecology And Western Worldview
Every person has a different way of viewing the world that is based on what a our simple beliefs
are and with our basic beliefs and values. We are able to make sense of the world and to gain an
understanding of knowing where our place and purpose in the world, through this we are able to
choose between the behaviours of right and wrong. This is called the western worldview, where
we have an understanding of being placed in the world that is based on human dominance over
nature, the restricted use of natual resources, and increased economic growth to manage an
expanding industrial base (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ).
Western Worldviews on the Environment
When it comes to the environmental beliefs there two main worldviews, the Western worldview
and the deep ecology worldview. Although both of these worldviews are broad generalizations
(Linda R. Berg, 2008 ) they are at opposite ends of a range of different worldviews that are related

Together, along with philospher George Sessions they discuss how deep ecology is an
understanding of knowing where we stand as humans in the world alongside nature and spiritual
respect for life. It is also knowing that both humans and other species are of equal earth (Linda R.

extreme shift in how humankind can relate themselves to the environment (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ,
p. 32). Deep ecology expressess that humans are no different to other species on the earth and that
everything that breaths life have the right to exist. It challenges individuals and cultures to share the
same inner spirituality that is connected to the natural world, but many people in this day in age

Summary Of Thermoregulation
The ideal safe sleep environment for an infant is in a crib, with a tight fitting sheet and a firm
mattress. The infant should always be placed alone, on their back in the crib, every time they are
put down for sleep, including naps. It is recommended that infants sleep in the same room as their
parent but never in the same bed. When dressing the infant be sure not to layer too much that
overheating will occur, thermoregulation is very important. No devices created to monitor the
infant s cardiorespiratory status and position should be used due to the fact that the safety of these
devices has not yet been established and there is no concrete evidence at this time to prove that the
devices reduce the risk of SIDS (Davidson et al., 2016). Risks

International Economics, Cause Trade Restrictions
1.Introduction to Trade Policy.
When trading in an international market, a company must understand the ways, countries can
interfere with trade. These trade barriers, according to Kishore Kulkarni s book on International
Economics, cause trade to diverge from the comparative advantage pattern (pg.266). David Ricardo
s comparative advantage is an economic law that demonstrates the ways in which protectionism is
unnecessary in free trade (pg.145). This section will provide an in depth look at the trade restriction
known as a tariff.
Tariffs are a part of life for anyone attempting to trade internationally. This raises a question; why do
countries restrict trade in the first place? There are three legitimate reasons why tariffs might be
used. The first has to do with protecting a new industry; this is known as an infant industry.
According to Richard T. Froyen s book on Macroeconomics Theories and Policies, an infant industry
is one that is too underdeveloped to achieve comparative advantage or perhaps even to survive in
the global environment (pg.350). Such an industry may be small and undercapitalized to survive
without government intervention. This political intervention would be achieved through tariffs,
quotas, or subsidies. The next argument against free trade is known as the national defense
argument. In short, this argument would be applicable during a crisis; attempting to protect
important domestic industries, ensuring their products is well established.

Positive Aspects Of Intercultural Relationships
There are certain qualities that are necessary for the development of intercultural relationships. An
individual who pursues these relationships can find many positive and unique aspects in
developing relationships with those from other cultures. In contrast, there are those that tend to
avoid people from other cultures due to preconceived ideas about certain people groups and
uncertainty in communication as well as the desire to stay in their comfort zone in seeking others
that are similar (Samovar pgs. 387 88). Personally, my own experience with intercultural
relationships has provided for me a more balanced view of the world and the ability to look at my
own culturein a whole new way.
I believe in order to become more developed interculturally, it involves letting go of ethnocentrism. I
discovered this was an area of struggle when I first moved abroad to China. I didn t realize that my
superior cultural attitude over the host culture got in the way of developing relationships in the
other culture. How much more this can play out when we are in our own culture. Furthermore, this
attitude initially blocked my ability to learn not only from Chinese culture but other cultures in the
international community as well. As I learned that my culture has its flaws, a positive aspect in
developing interculturally relationships is that I became less ethnocentric.
I think another positive aspect in developing intercultural relationships is the ability to expand your
worldview. This

Effect of Organic Farming on Soil Nutrients and Structure

Since the 1970s, the agribusiness and agrochemical industries have been aware of a growing
problem: as the global population soars, soils around the world are becoming less suitable for
farming as a result of erosion, nutrient depletion, and structural degradation. In the United States,
about 60,000 farmers have abandoned the conventional system which relies on chemical fertilizers
and pesticides, and adopted the organic farming systems that allowed areas of China and India to
be successfully farmed for 4,000 years (Reganold et al., 1990, p. 112). Organic farmers use plant

370). While humic matter has some intrinsic water storing properties, it is possible that some of
the increased water levels are a result of the erosion of finer particles on the conventional farm,
which lost 32.4 ton/ha of topsoil a year, four times that of the organic farm (Reganold et al.,
1987, p. 371). Jordahl and Karlen (1993) observed that the soil on a conventional Iowa farm had
significantly less silt and clay than a similar soil from an adjacent organic farm, suggesting that the
fine materials had been eroded away (p. 29).
The high humus levels are responsible for the erosion resistance documented on organic farms.
High levels of organic matter increases aggregate stability, which prevents erosion, allows for
easier water and mechanical (such as plow and root) penetration, and better aeration. Soil
aggregates are stabilized primarily by micro organisms and polysaccharides, a product of many
bacteria. Experiments by Molope and Page (1986) indicate that fungi play a key role in binding
soil particles together. In the development of aggregates, fungi mycelia (root like structures)
provide the initial support in the first six days of ped development after disaggregation (from
oxidation as a result of plowing or heavy rain) (p. 236.) After six days, other processes are thought
to take over, primarily the adhesive binding of polysaccharides,

Differences Between SCM-And Control Trials
Our meta analysis revealed that premotor reaction times are indeed faster in SCM+ than in SCM
trials. The estimated magnitude of this effect across the studies may be long enough to entertain the
possibility that motor programs are triggered via a pathway that bypasses some cortical areas of the
brain [1, 23], but not fast enough to completely rule out cortical involvement [11]. Although, the
meta analysis showed that the effect associated with SCM activity is robust across studies, the
heterogeneity test approached significance and depended on the correlation coefficient chosen for
the studies for which data was not available: an increase in the correlation coefficient from 0.5 to
0.56 resulted in a statistically significant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[25, 26]). In contrast, although premotor RTs in response to loud acoustic stimuli ( 114 dBa) are
somewhat heterogeneous, differences in premotor RT as a function of foreperiod variability are
clearly mitigated, showing similar average estimates and overlapping confidence intervals for the
subgroups (see Figure 4). Why are responses initiated earlier when SCM activity is detected?
Maslovat et al. [10] proposed that the detection of SCM activity indicates that a more direct neural
circuit, common with the startle reflex, was responsible for involuntarily triggering the prepared
response. Thus, when responses occur without SCM activity (SCM ), the longer typical neural
circuit involving the auditory cortex would trigger the motor response. This model would explain
why responses are faster when SCM activity is observed. Interestingly, the StartReact effect can still
be observed when the startle reflex is abolished due to the presentation of a less intense stimulus
before the go signal (pre pulse inhibition or PPI)[16]. This is counterintuitive because it suggests
that the more direct neural circuit is still activated when the transient activation of the midbrain
nuclei by PPI stimulus exerts long lasting inhibition of the giant neurons of the caudal pontine
reticular nucleus [34]. Alternatively, we have suggested that the apparent correlation between SCM
activity and premotor RT could be a result of variations in the build up of

Sam Steemal And Hyde Case Study
MILLERSBURG The only one of two candidates to accept an invitation to participate in a Meet the
Candidates event, Holmes County Municipal Judge Andrew Hyde spoke Thursday about himself,
his experience and the judicial system in general as he defended his position as incumbent.
He is challenged by local attorney Sam Steimel, who according to organizer Martin Mann, was
contacted several times about the event, but respectfully declined.
Hyde was sworn into office on Nov. 11 by former Holmes County Common Pleas Judge Thomas
D. White. He was appointed to the position by Gov. John Kasich in the immediate wake of the
death of Judge Jane Irving Baserman. Because Irving was less than halfway through her term, a

I think it s in bad taste, she said, expressing concerns about Steimel s ability, because of a long
family history in the community and a wife elected to the position of clerk of courts, to be impartial.
She said she also is concerned about how much time he has actually spent practicing in municipal
court and what she perceived to be, comparatively, less experience than Hyde.
At the same time, she said, in the wake of Hyde s appointment to the bench, I felt bad because
you ve been such a terrific defender of everything. I feel for the poor, downtrodden who can t have
you as a lawyer.
Because it is a primary race, to cast a vote for either judicial candidate, voter must request a
Republican ballot. And, because there are no candidates on the Democratic ticket this election,
Hyde encouraged even Democrats to take out a Republican ballot, cast a vote, have a voice and
then, come the next primary cycle, You have a chance to go right back to the Democratic Party.
The deadline to register to vote in the May 2 primary election is April 3. In person absentee voting
begins April 4, at the Holmes County Board of Elections, where office hours are 8 a.m. 5 p.m.,

Taking a Look at Four-Dimensionalism
Four dimensionalism is often seen in the field of metaphysics as a strong and sound solution to
many puzzles. Whether that s the Antinomy of Constitution, the Ship of Theseus, or the Paradox of
Increase, four dimensionalism always appears as a probable solution. But, four dimensionalism is
not the all powerful solution it appears to be at first glance. The theory itself has many
repercussions if it is taken to be true, leading me to dispute its overall validity. So what exactly is
the four dimensional theory? To begin, we must understand what the dimensions of our world are.
We experience the first three dimensions on a daily basis; namely, length, width, and height. These
three dimensions are typically referred to as the spatial dimensions. The next, fourth, dimensionis
then considered to be time. We cannot specifically see time but we know that time is continually
moving forward and we are subject to its progression. Four dimensionalism then exclaims that
objects consist of all four dimensions, splitting objects into spatial and temporal parts. We see the
spatial components when we look at an object but the temporal component is harder to see.
Essentially, the four dimensionalist believes that an object is never wholly present at one instance
in time but rather consists of the spatial components and all of the temporal components. This is
seen as the theory of perdurance and is accepted by four dimensionalists (Lewis). So when we hold
an object, say a

Kay Redfield Jamison s Life
Kay Redfield Jamison was born on June 22, 1946 in the United States of America. She received
her Bachelors and Masters in the University of California, also known as UCLA. After
accomplishing these goals, she set out to acquire her Ph.D., which she did, also at UCLA in the
year 1975. UCLA is significant for a number of reasons. Upon completing her degrees, she began
to work there as an assistant professor and then rose to the rank of associate professor. Though
she was an associate professor of psychiatry in 1981, she made a significant impact by
establishing the Affective Disorders Clinic at her alma mater in the year of 77. Her experience as

Moreover, she was recognized for her work with the National Alliance for Research on
Schizophrenia and Depression in 2007. Included with her awards was the title of Hero of
Medicine by Time magazine in 1997. Throughout this time of awards and accreditation, she also
took the role of co director of the Mood Disorders Center since the year 2005. In addition to her
professional standing at Johns Hopkins, she also frequently travels to Scotland where she works at
the University of St. Andrews as a professor of English and Neurophysiology.
Given her accreditation and awards for her work in her community, as well as her literature, it is
easy to see why she continues to make an impact in her field. Throughout her college career, and
thereafter, she has made monumental influences in the lives of others through her research.
Moreover, her knowledge of those who have disorders helps people understand that she truly
does know what they are going through. Jamison was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she
was 28 years old. Not only does this allow her to empathize with others by allowing her to walk
in the same shoes as them, she is still able to perform her duties as a psychologist. Not only does
she understand others with bipolar disorder, she understands how she affects others with her

Essay on The Suffering of the Women in Wuthering Heights
The Suffering of the Women in Wuthering Heights
It appears that Catherine s expectations are unrealistic especially when placed in the historical
context. The novel is written during the
Victorian era where the role of women in relation to marriage was that they were to be obedient,
disciplined and faithful to their husband.
Catherine does not fulfil any of these roles in the long term.
Firstly, she marries Edgar for social and financial benefits. She becomes aware that she belongs to
a social class when she and

Furthermore, when Heathcliff returns, Catherine should take no interest in trying to rekindle her
feelings for him as Edgar had been putting in effort to make their marriage work Mr. Edgar had a
deep rooted fear of ruffling her humour Up until this scene the couples were getting along and if
Catherine had concealed her zealous behaviour towards Heathcliff then the calm atmosphere would
have remained. Catherine rudely ignores her husband s presence to the extent that he demands the
disrespectful behaviour to be stopped and a decision made
Will you give up Heathcliff hereafter, or will you giver up me? It is impossible for you to be my
friend and his at the same time…
Indeed, Edgar is right to put Catherine s in this difficult situation because any other typical husband
at the time would have been less patient with Catherine or banned Heathcliff from the house at an
earlier stage.
Catherine struggles because the two men in her life represent two types if world and she cannot
have both at the same time. Heathcliff represents the spiritual and natural side of life Nelly, I am

two political views in this world. There are the left and the right side of politics, I have noticed
that people on the news stations do take side. CNN and BBC take a far more left stance on
politics and Fox news take the right side of politics. How many people tune in on these three main

with how his yard workers had no curiosity, no imagination, how too many people glanced at the

sees so much more in an inanimate object that he sees inside of his workers. He doesn t really

Colin Powell 18 Lessons In Leadership Summary
General (USA RET) Colin L. Powell, 18 Lessons in Leadership General Powell highlights 18
lessons learned in leadership that are applied to successful companies, and how they are applied
to leadership in his presentation to the Outreach Program, and the Sears Corporate
Headquarters. These approaches can be applied not only in business but life in general. I will
highlight three of the lessons that have impacted my career in the military Lesson 7 Too often
in business as well as the military, If it ain t broke, don t fix it (Powell, C #7). Too often the
command as well as enlisted soldiers will use this analogy to continue to do what they have
always done and fight change. Also this leads to allowing small details to be overlooked because
it s been allowed before, these small details, such as production schedules become larger details.
These small little details will cause larger details to be overlooked in the future. This culture will
foster reactivity instead of promoting proactivity (Powell, C #7). This type of culture is a
struggle for leaders to change in the National Guard because of the hometown mentality, all
though we strive to keep the since of community in our units as leaders we have to be the
supporters of change. Be able to answer the why when it is necessary to move in a different
direction, we have to be able to always look beneath the surface and not take situations at face

New Liberalism Essay
New Liberalism
Old liberalism, otherwise know as classical or Gladstonian liberalism was centred around the
fundamental rights of the individual. It was an ideology that the state should have little to no
intervention in people s lives and in the economy. It relied heavily upon the notion of laissez
faire, and the Victorian mindset of self help. Thrift was one of these ideas. It was the theory that
any family could support itself if that income was managed wisely, and a pension could be saved
for. The key pillars of old liberalism was low taxes and low state intervention. This was because
they believed that the people should be able to spend their money as they wised, and not be forced

Towards the end of the century this was coming into question. Other European nations were
industrialising and eating into Britain s profits. There was a thought among the British public
that as long as the economy was growing, eventually prosperity would filter down to the lower
classes. But as the economy began to shrink, according to Lee it eroded the attractions of
industrial growth as a panacea for society s ills. Victorian notions were rapidly becoming out of
date and viewed as wrong, not only economically, but morally as well. In London and York,
studies showed that a third of people lived in poverty as a direct result of simply not having a
large enough income to cover their basic needs, while thousands more lived in poverty due to
inadequate education to manage there finances. Laissez faire was being proven to be out dated in
Birmingham where the conservative mayor Joseph Chamberlain had shown that local government
taking control for and organised public amenities and facilities could benefit the community as a
whole. Not only did this destroy laissez faire, but also it was an attack by the Tories on Liberal
values. In the 1880 s socialism was starting to gain ground as the lower classes saw that their
situation was not increases, and at the

in the 1930s. In the Great Plainsof the United States. It covered parts of North Dakota, South

the migrants were from Oklahoma. However, Klein tells us that an Okie was a blanket term used

  • 2. My Reflection On My Capstone Rotation 1.Some of the emotions I experienced at clinical were a sense of self confidence and excitement. In previous semesters, I feel as if I am typically a little more nervous on the first clinical experience. However, my emotions were very different starting my capstone rotation. I think this is because I know I am nearing the end of nursing school and I have much more knowledge than I did at this time two years ago. I have learned that nursing is a profession of life long learning and each day is an opportunity to learn something new. Therefore, having those ideas in mind I feel that I didn t make myself worry about what I didn t know, instead, I was excited and focused on what I was going to learn. These feelings held true for both shifts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two nurses were continuously talking negative about a nurse s aide on the floor. They felt that she didn t help them as much as she could have and that she picks and chooses who she helps. After taking a recent workplace violence module in our leadership class this semester, I have a better understanding on how this impacts patient centered care and that this situation is a very negative workplace behavior. Initially, I felt that it was best to ignore the situation because as a student I didn t want to get involved. However, after the gossip continued, attempts to resolve the issue were to state that the floor was busy and as a PCT I often get behind as well, the nurses then agreed that the unit was busy and moved on to a different conversation. Throughout the whole ordeal I continued to have my patient s best interest at priority and didn t let the behavior of these nurses impede on the care being provided. (2 points) 4.Safety concerns that I encountered during the experience were in regards to a patient admitted for unrelieved chest pain. The patient was in his late seventies and had end stage renal disease. According to Lewis and colleagues (2014), after age seventy five, renal clearance of medications declines substantially, which places elderly individuals at risk for medication toxicity (p. 73). However, since the patient also had end stage renal disease the risk for toxicity was even greater. Because of the patient s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To respond to the arguments Gatsby made, Tom first argues that Daisy Doesn t know what she s doing (pg 138). By her hearing what Tom said, Daisy is able to realized that maybe she really does not know what she is doing by having any thoughts about leaving for Gatsby while she is married to Tom. After that being said, Tom goes on to expose Gatsby and his past secret life and how I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw him, and I wasn t far wrong (pg 140). This argument made by Tom is his attempt to show how people whose wealth is new money, which is what Gatsby qualifies under due to him earning his money through the new bootlegging business, is not as respected as his own wealth coming from old money, which is what Tom qualifies under since he was borned and raised in a wealthy family and has always had a source of wealth to live off from. These candles are created using the oil of citronella, a type of grass that mosquitoes loathe. Use this to your advantage by forming a barrier around your grill with citronella candles. For example, the spoonerisms sub test, which Angela found very difficult to complete, involves the short term auditory memory/working memory, because you must remember two separate sounds while you switch them around, for example top cat = cop tat. In my opinion the only way to take down this organization is to begin to treat it like the state that it is. ISIS has not only gained territory in Syria, Iraq and Istanbul but according to New York Times columnist, Tim Arango, ISIS is building a capacity to govern. In 2014, ISIS formally informed the world on their establishment of a caliphate. This caliphate is governed under Islamic beliefs and rulers. They have begun issuing identification cards for residents, promulgating fishing guidelines to preserve stocks, and requiring that cars carry tool kits for emergencies (Arango). Believe it or not, ISIS has been a state for two years, regardless of their lack of legitimacy, their consistent threat of violence against any of those who oppose their beliefs allows them not only to get things done, but get them done efficiently. Whether we want to accept it, ISIS is a state, and we need to treat it as such. On the 29th of June in 2014, ISIS announced that a caliphate has been establish and the caliph was to be Caliph Ibrahim. The saying goes, In order to kill a snake, one must cut off its head. Don t you worry about adding too many notches to your belt? How many people have you slept with really? You re definitely getting into trashy territory Rachel. Many times I have heard variations of these quotations being said throughout my life. The real trash is policing someone s sexuality. Slut is a derogatory term used to degrade women s sexuality. In this text I will outline the problems and the harm that slut shaming bestows on women and their sexuality. Slut shaming is detrimental to women s psychological morale, her political standings, and her role and power in society and relationships. In order to better understand slut shaming, an explanation as to why it is a phenomenon in today s society needs to be given. One of my biggest concerns is the fluid usage of the word slut or whore. This phenomenon of slut shaming is mostly seen with teenagers and young adults and thus this is the group I will be focusing on. Young women and men seem to define a slut differently. Women define a slut as 1. A woman who is sexually active, 2. A woman who wears a lot of makeup, 3. A woman who dresses suggestively, 4. A woman who, despite her unpopularity, tries to get the attention of boys, 5. A woman who is assumed to be sexually advanced because her body is more developed, 6. • 18. Energy Conservation at Home What is energy ? Where does it come from? And how do we pay for it? When you learn the answers to these questions, you can also learn how to live more efficiently in your home. In this article, we ll discuss how to be smart about how you use energy, how to know when to turn electrical power on and off, and how to use natural gas, propane, and fuel oil in the most effective way. Basic Concepts of Energy Efficiency You can make a lot of progress toward improving the energy efficiency in your home by simply plugging the many places through which air can get in or get out. Plugging your home is called air sealing, and it is one of the most important first steps to take when weatherizing your house to increase its energy efficiency.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His line of reasoning was that, by reducing the temperature in our homes, we could conserve heating fuel. President Carter s words of nearly 30 years ago still ring true today: The best way to conserve energy is to not use so much of it. And one of the best ways of reducing the use of heating fuel in the home is to simply turn down the thermostat. Because space heating constitutes the largest energy expenditure in many homes, even a little conservation of heating fuel goes a long way toward achieving a lower utility bill. Dialing down the thermostat one degree during the winter can result in about 1 to 3 percent less fuel use, and a similar reduction in your heating bill. A furnace or boiler has to maintain a differential in temperature between the inside of the house and the outdoors in order for the house to feel comfortable. On cold days that difference can be as much as 50 to 60 degrees (say, 20 outside and 70 inside). Any time the differential can be reduced, even by a degree or two, the heating system comes on less often, less fuel is burned, and savings result. The downside of turning down a thermostat, of course, is that the house is cooler. But Carter had a solution for that simply slip on a sweater. That makes sense, too. Instead of turning up the heat to increase the overall warmth in the huge volume of space inside the house, you can simply increase your personal insulation to help retain ... The people who are inside these buildings are having a good life, but Antonio is homeless; he does not even have money to rent a shelter to protect himself. The structure of the freeways illustrates the lack of freedom in the protagonist s social life. In the beginning of the story, the author uses sleep under the freeway repetitively to emphasize Antonio s low social status (9). Freeways represent work and economic activity, but Antonio has fallen off the track. He is now under the freeway because he has dropped from the flow of the busy city life to the lowest level in Los Angeles. This origin was reflected in the earlier title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson, 1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States around 1800. This section will provide an in depth look at the trade restriction known as a tariff. Tariffs are a part of life for anyone attempting to trade internationally. This raises a question; why do countries restrict trade in the first place? There are three legitimate reasons why tariffs might be used. The first has to do with protecting a new industry; this is known as an infant industry. According to Richard T. Froyen s book on Macroeconomics Theories and Policies, an infant industry is one that is too underdeveloped to achieve comparative advantage or perhaps even to survive in the global environment (pg.350). Such an industry may be small and undercapitalized to survive without government intervention. This political intervention would be achieved through tariffs, quotas, or subsidies. The next argument against free trade is known as the national defense argument. In short, this argument would be applicable during a crisis; attempting to protect important domestic industries, ensuring their products is well established. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Positive Aspects Of Intercultural Relationships There are certain qualities that are necessary for the development of intercultural relationships. An individual who pursues these relationships can find many positive and unique aspects in developing relationships with those from other cultures. In contrast, there are those that tend to avoid people from other cultures due to preconceived ideas about certain people groups and uncertainty in communication as well as the desire to stay in their comfort zone in seeking others that are similar (Samovar pgs. 387 88). Personally, my own experience with intercultural relationships has provided for me a more balanced view of the world and the ability to look at my own culturein a whole new way. I believe in order to become more developed interculturally, it involves letting go of ethnocentrism. I discovered this was an area of struggle when I first moved abroad to China. I didn t realize that my superior cultural attitude over the host culture got in the way of developing relationships in the other culture. How much more this can play out when we are in our own culture. Furthermore, this attitude initially blocked my ability to learn not only from Chinese culture but other cultures in the international community as well. As I learned that my culture has its flaws, a positive aspect in developing interculturally relationships is that I became less ethnocentric. I think another positive aspect in developing intercultural relationships is the ability to expand your worldview. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Effect of Organic Farming on Soil Nutrients and Structure... Effect of Organic Farming on Soil Nutrients and Structure Works Cited Missing Since the 1970s, the agribusiness and agrochemical industries have been aware of a growing problem: as the global population soars, soils around the world are becoming less suitable for farming as a result of erosion, nutrient depletion, and structural degradation. In the United States, about 60,000 farmers have abandoned the conventional system which relies on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and adopted the organic farming systems that allowed areas of China and India to be successfully farmed for 4,000 years (Reganold et al., 1990, p. 112). Organic farmers use plant matter and animal and municipal wastes for fertilizer, and rely on natural predators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 370). While humic matter has some intrinsic water storing properties, it is possible that some of the increased water levels are a result of the erosion of finer particles on the conventional farm, which lost 32.4 ton/ha of topsoil a year, four times that of the organic farm (Reganold et al., 1987, p. 371). Jordahl and Karlen (1993) observed that the soil on a conventional Iowa farm had significantly less silt and clay than a similar soil from an adjacent organic farm, suggesting that the fine materials had been eroded away (p. 29). The high humus levels are responsible for the erosion resistance documented on organic farms. High levels of organic matter increases aggregate stability, which prevents erosion, allows for easier water and mechanical (such as plow and root) penetration, and better aeration. Soil aggregates are stabilized primarily by micro organisms and polysaccharides, a product of many bacteria. Experiments by Molope and Page (1986) indicate that fungi play a key role in binding soil particles together. In the development of aggregates, fungi mycelia (root like structures) provide the initial support in the first six days of ped development after disaggregation (from oxidation as a result of plowing or heavy rain) (p. 236.) After six days, other processes are thought to take over, primarily the adhesive binding of polysaccharides, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Differences Between SCM-And Control Trials Our meta analysis revealed that premotor reaction times are indeed faster in SCM+ than in SCM trials. The estimated magnitude of this effect across the studies may be long enough to entertain the possibility that motor programs are triggered via a pathway that bypasses some cortical areas of the brain [1, 23], but not fast enough to completely rule out cortical involvement [11]. Although, the meta analysis showed that the effect associated with SCM activity is robust across studies, the heterogeneity test approached significance and depended on the correlation coefficient chosen for the studies for which data was not available: an increase in the correlation coefficient from 0.5 to 0.56 resulted in a statistically significant... In contrast, although premotor RTs in response to loud acoustic stimuli ( 114 dBa) are somewhat heterogeneous, differences in premotor RT as a function of foreperiod variability are clearly mitigated, showing similar average estimates and overlapping confidence intervals for the subgroups (see Figure 4). Why are responses initiated earlier when SCM activity is detected? Maslovat et al. [10] proposed that the detection of SCM activity indicates that a more direct neural circuit, common with the startle reflex, was responsible for involuntarily triggering the prepared response. Thus, when responses occur without SCM activity (SCM ), the longer typical neural circuit involving the auditory cortex would trigger the motor response. This model would explain why responses are faster when SCM activity is observed. Interestingly, the StartReact effect can still be observed when the startle reflex is abolished due to the presentation of a less intense stimulus before the go signal (pre pulse inhibition or PPI)[16]. This is counterintuitive because it suggests that the more direct neural circuit is still activated when the transient activation of the midbrain nuclei by PPI stimulus exerts long lasting inhibition of the giant neurons of the caudal pontine reticular nucleus [34]. Alternatively, we have suggested that the apparent correlation between SCM activity and premotor RT could be a result of variations in the build up of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Taking a Look at Four-Dimensionalism Four dimensionalism is often seen in the field of metaphysics as a strong and sound solution to many puzzles. Whether that s the Antinomy of Constitution, the Ship of Theseus, or the Paradox of Increase, four dimensionalism always appears as a probable solution. But, four dimensionalism is not the all powerful solution it appears to be at first glance. The theory itself has many repercussions if it is taken to be true, leading me to dispute its overall validity. So what exactly is the four dimensional theory? To begin, we must understand what the dimensions of our world are. We experience the first three dimensions on a daily basis; namely, length, width, and height. These three dimensions are typically referred to as the spatial dimensions. The next, fourth, dimensionis then considered to be time. We cannot specifically see time but we know that time is continually moving forward and we are subject to its progression. Four dimensionalism then exclaims that objects consist of all four dimensions, splitting objects into spatial and temporal parts. We see the spatial components when we look at an object but the temporal component is harder to see. Essentially, the four dimensionalist believes that an object is never wholly present at one instance in time but rather consists of the spatial components and all of the temporal components. This is seen as the theory of perdurance and is accepted by four dimensionalists (Lewis). So when we hold an object, say a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel is written during the Victorian era where the role of women in relation to marriage was that they were to be obedient, disciplined and faithful to their husband. Catherine does not fulfil any of these roles in the long term. Firstly, she marries Edgar for social and financial benefits. It was the theory that any family could support itself if that income was managed wisely, and a pension could be saved for. The key pillars of old liberalism was low taxes and low state intervention.
