Pinochet Oppression
The Pinochet dictatorship oppressed people with Powerlessness and Violence, and Chileans resisted
with Direct Action. For example, according to The Dictatorship and The Disappeared, The institution
and practices that guarantee citizens the right to conduct their economic, social, and political affairs
without fear of government retaliation. Election, representative bodies, free speech, and the right to
protest vanished (Eshet 13). In other words, Pinochet took away the citizens rights. As a result of this
they were all powerlessness because they could not do anything like protest or have free speech.
Another type of oppression is violence, According to The Dictatorship and The Disappeared, I didn t
understand the importance of what had happened.

Material Requirements Planning ( Mrp ) And Lean Manufacturing
Over the years, manufacturing production strategies have continued to evolve. Despite this the
manufacturing strategies debate between material requirements planning (MRP) and lean
manufacturing is still disputed. On one side is the philosophy that MRP software is required to
adequately plan production. On the other side is the lean philosophy, which argues that these planning
tools are too rigid to reflect actual production environments and ultimately impede effective
production. This essay will assess if lean synchronisation is an alternative to material requirements
planning. Material Requirements Planning Principles MRP was developed in the 1970 s as an
inventory management system. The principle relied on conducting detailed planning to ensure that
parts and materials ware obtained in time to meet the manufacturing process. It was a major step
forward at the time as it capitalized on the use of the computer to generate the supply orders. (rf) The
use of computers allowed operations managers to track supplies orders, obtain secondary materials
and enabled precise stock levels to be measured easily. Now almost all MRP systems use computes.
This led to companies creating production schedules that focused on obtaining resources to match the
output level of production. (rf) Using MRP managers can determine what materials are required in
what quantity and by what deadline. This is known as a push system of inventory control and involves
forecasting inventory needs to meet

Racial Zoning Research Paper
Distinguished in chapters three and four of The Color of Law, racial zoning is a way for organizations
to manipulate and control what neighborhoods African Americans and other ethnic minority groups
reside in. Due to this, many of African Americans viewed racial zoning as a serious threat to their well
being in the United States. With the help of Jim Crow laws, exclusionary zoning, and the On Your
Own Home campaign, banks and real estate agents had provoked economic discrimination towards
various ethnic minority groups. Furthermore, through the concepts of dysfunctionalism, social
inequality, latent functionalism, and Eurocentrism as seen in The Real World, racial zoning has
negatively affected African Americans from breaking out of what the world considers them to be.
After the American Civil War, newly freed slaves started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this intention, banks and real estate agents will no longer be readily available in urban
communities, but in suburban regions. The reasoning for this stem back to the overall goal of keeping
African Americans separate from whites. Now, however, without banks and real estate agents, urban
communities do not have the same privilege as someone from a suburban household. This is viewed
through the concepts of social inequality and Eurocentrism because of the unwillingness of whites;
there is an unequal distribution of prestige regarding African American rights. In conclusion, African
Americans were targeted for the ideology of racial zoning. Jim Crow laws, exclusionary zoning, and
the On Your Own Home campaign, all helped support this ideology and furthermore established what
concepts simulated these policies. Dysfunctionalism, social inequality, latent functionalism, and
Eurocentrism explain why and what racial zoning

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor E Frankl
Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor E Frankl Man as little more than a machine subject to his
environment is a popular picture painted by many psychologists of today. Viktor E Frankl sets out to
contend against that idea in his book Man s Search for Meaning. He contends that life is not a quest
for pleasure or power, but for meaning. Frankl was a prisoner in the Auschwitz and Dachau
concentration camps during the holocaust. During this time, many of his family members, including
his parents and his wife, suffered death in similar camps. Frankl himself suffered extreme conditions
of cold, starvation, malnutrition, and slavery. He was also a psychoanalyst of sorts, and through all of
his suffering, he makes incredible observations about the world that became his. In Man s Search for
Meaning, Frankl chooses primarily two areas to focus on His experience and observations in the Nazi
concentration camps, and his own philosophy of psychology, which he calls Logotherapy. He also
delves into what he calls tragic optimism , or to put meaning into suffering, as opposed to seeking
hope for deliverance from suffering. Frankl s purpose behind writing this book can potentially be
taken from what he himself said the meaning of his own life is to help others find the meaning of
theirs. (pg 165) Because he wholeheartedly believed in the words He who has a Why to live for can
bear almost any How. (Nietzsche, pg ix) Frankl was very interested in the motivations and goals

Should Animal Testing Be Used Only For Medical Research
Should animal testing be used only for medical purposes in New Zealand?
By Jihad Mohd Erfino
Introduction:
Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the world. It questions
the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and even for medical research purposes.
Although it happens in most of the world (including New Zealand) today, many question whether it
should go on. Animal testing is generally the use of animals for different purposes in lab conditions.
Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since the 2nd century
BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing Wikipedia). He was the first one to
have made experiments on live animals. The first animal testing experiments was to find out how our
bodies work. For example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals was discovered in the 12th
century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in the 17th century by William
Harvey. Animal testing has also played a vital role in human medical advances. It has helped
developed vaccines to cure diseases such as polio which has almost been eradicated. It has also have
helped humans to have a better understanding of our bodily mechanisms, function and several
diseases. Some diseases that cannot be cured yet can be treated better due to animal testing
discoveries.

The Nanjing Massacre Of Nanjing
November 11th, 1937, was the date that the Japanese obtained secure control over Shanghai, meaning
that this was the date that the Japanese troops began their march to Nanjing. However, the cruel
actions that lead up to the massacre in Nanjing started on August 15, where the Japanese Navy send
planes that flew over Nanjing and released bombs. From that day, all the way until December 13
(when Nanjing fell), it was estimated that more than 50 missions flew over Nanjing, using more than
800 planes and around 160 tons of bombs. An attack that was reported on August 27 said that within a
time period of two hours, 400 500 houses were destroyed and over one hundred people were killed,
with several hundred people injured. These actions planted the seed of fear in the Chinese civilians,
which grew stronger daily with the bombing attacks. Soon people begin to evacuate, and the
population of Nanjing dropped from more than a million to half a million. The Japanese troops entered
Nanjing on December 7, and launched a massive attack on Nanjing, which caused the Chinese troops
to retreat to the opposite side of the Yangtze River on December 12. On following day of the retreat,
the Japanese s 6th and 16th division entered Nanjing, with an addition of two more Japanese Fleets.
With this, the Nanjing Massacre begun. Within the next seven weeks, the Japanese destroyed
everything that was in sight, looting and burning property. It was estimated that more than 300,000
Chinese died during the

Drosophila Essay
Ayushi Kaul BIO206 Writing Assignment 3
Detailed focus question: How does altered microtubule organization due to centrosome mutation
affect cell function and development in Drosophila?
I. Introduction. In order to understand the effect of a centrosome mutation, this paper will start by
introducing the structure and function of the centrosome. Then provide information about how a
typical cell develops in Drosophila and then the ways in which a mutation can occur.
A. Centrosome structure and function

3. Leads to abnormalities in the asymmetric divisions of larval neuroblasts
4. Several mutant tissue transplants in Drosophila showed tissues over proliferation and the formation
of metastatic tumors (Basto et al., 2008)

The Great Gossip Girl By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Abbi Kopf
1.7.16
The Great Gossip Girl
A young man desperately battling society, wealth, and rich obnoxious friends in order to win the heart
of the perfect girl...is this the story of The Great Gatsby, or the CW s Gossip Girl? Both, actually: the
hit TV show mirrors Fitzgerald s most famous work through parallel themes and characters. Cynical
subjects such as doomed love and corruption of the upper class play a major part in both works, as
well as the story of fight to surmount class and poverty. This story actually played out a couple of
times over the course of Gossip Girl s intensely dramatic six seasons, but most notably between Dan
Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen. Dan Humphrey was the James Gatz of Gossip Girl, still
struggling to become Jay Gatsby. He had a nice life with his father and sister in Brooklyn, but always
dreamed about something greater. When Nick finally told the reader Gatsby s true origin story, he
said, he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy would be likely to invent,
and to this conception he was faithful to the end (p.104). Dan and Gatsby both had an idealized, or
Platonic, view of themselves and the way their lives would turn out, and they would stop at nothing to
get it. Dan created and used Gossip Girl as a way to get into Serena s world just Gatsby used Nick to
get Daisy back. Both men saw their dream girl as all the money and glamour and fame that they
wanted distilled into one person, a person whose voice

The Uses Of Human Biological Remains
The use of human biological remains can tell us quite a lot about how past civilizations lived. One is
able to deduce from the findings whether groups of people were transient or stationary by examining
findings from a midden. Refuse stashes also tell us much of what a specific group consumes in terms
of diet or housing materials. One is able to discover how long ago an individual lived by using dating
measurements such as radio carbon dating or argon dating. The use of human biological remains is the
most beneficial and educational resource for archeologists in the field and in the laboratory.
There are many ways to determine antiquity with archeological findings that fall under two main
categories, relative dating and absolute dating. Relative dating uses techniques applied by the
archeologists themselves and produce a general understanding of the age of findings while absolute
dating can provide an exact date the biological remains were alive and uses much more elaborate and
in depth laboratory testing techniques. Absolute dating techniques such as dendrochronology,
radiocarbon dating, and argon dating are the most effective and wide spread methods for dating human
biological remains to provide a detailed analysis of antiquity. Radiocarbon dating is the most
widespread and commonly used technique for dating human remains in archeology. It is known that
all living things contain carbon and upon death carbon breaks down at a specific and steady rate once.

The Issue Of American Patriotism
Nationalism and patriotism is a very touchy subject for some people just due to the fact of everyone
having their own opinion on what it means. Some people just do not know the difference between the
two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often commonly confused as the
same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this subject on many credible sources
I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this particular topic.
First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to one s homeland.
As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For example, a pro would be that it
leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere; then it makes no
difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. Another being specialization; patriotism
instinctively guides citizens to discover their natural and cultural specialties: their own resources,
traditions, industries, and identity that has existed for ages. They will not imitate or copy another
country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and improve the special
qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security. Most cons of patriotism
fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that the benefits enjoyed by
centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide. They say that it is not a big
problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and successful elsewhere. They also
claim that in over populated countries, or those with high unemployment rates, its better when people
leave. I do not neccesarily agree with all of this but I do think the majority of the claims made are true.
Nationalism has two definitions that basically mean the same thing but one is more easily understood.
The more complicated version saying that

My Favorite Theory Of Mythology
Myths have been a part of human lives for as long as time goes back. They tell stories, explain how
things came to be, and have formed the base of many cultures throughout human history. The most
difficult thing modern people come across when reading a myth is interpreting it. For this reason, I
will explain my favorite theory of mythology and talk a little bit about the other theories. There are
four theories of mythology; the rational theory, functional theory, structural theory, and psychological
theory. Of these four theories, I feel the psychological theory is the most effective and correct way to
interpret myths. To show why I believe this I will explain the psychological theory and show how it is
effective across many different myths. The psychological theory looks at myths through the human
mind and subconscious. People who interpret myths using this theory attempt to connect ideas in
peoples subconscious to themes seen in myths. This theory came about in the 19th century when the
science of psychology was expanding along with the discovery of more myths. The paired growth of
these two things made the psychological approach inevitable and the two big names that contributed
most are, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. In Freud s book Totem and Taboo he states his discovery of
the human Oedipus complex. Freud believes that this complex forms in children at a young age, and
causes children to have an unconscious sexual desire for the parent of the same sex and want to

Cultural Identity And Well Being
Assignment 2 Is there a relationship between cultural identity and well being? Introduction This paper
will weigh if there is a relationship between the psychological constructs of cultural identity and well
being. First there will be a consideration on what defines a cultural identity and how it fits in with
psychological development and well being. Followed by an explanation of different perspectives of
well being. BODY Cultural identity is a part of the psychological self concept that expresses an
individual or group s worldview and perceived cultural affiliations. The first step in finding a societal
fit is to establish a cultural identity; this can be on an individual level and group level. Who am I? And
where do I belong? These questions start to form in the human mind from an early age; it drives
humans to explore their worldviews and how and where they fit in the world. Rosenfeld (1971) argued
it is a deep seated primal process that has ensured our continual survival. By finding others that think
and act similarly we are offered some protection (Erickson, as cited in Carducci 2015). Erickson (as
cited in Carducci, 2015) and Maslow (as cited in Mcleod 2007) argued that the need to belong is a
basic building block of human development. Whatever the reason, the consensus is that humans have
an intrinsic need to find a like minded cultural group to belong to; this chosen affiliation is their
cultural identity. A person may identify with more than one cultural

The Case Of Enric Duran
The case of Enric Duran is not within the stereotypical remit of Business ethics. Nevertheless, the
ethical implications and the outcomes of Duran s actions highlight some potential intrinsic flaws that
are present in the current state of affairs that govern businesses and how they impact the general well
being of society. There is no negating that the economic activist, who in 2009 went into hiding to
avoid the repercussions of his actions, has broken the law and in no way, can ethical theories such as
Kantian deontology, shareholder and stakeholder views condone his actions. However, without
committing an appeal to the quoque fallacy, the points made by Duran in an interview with Vice

In Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals Kant argues that, [we] ought never to act in such a way
that [we] couldn t also will that the maxim on which [we] act should be a universal law, (Kant, 2005)
as such, one of the fundamental prescribed rubrics in Kantian deontology is being defied by Duran.
Whilst I can appreciate the intensions of Duran in his economical vendetta, there is little opposition to
the view that if we were all to steal that the overall outcome would not be beneficial for society in. in
fact it is rather the converse of Duran s actions that would likely bring out a positive change in society.
Maxims such as, do not steal sufficiently meet the requirements of Kant s categorical imperatives. The
blatant disregard of the instructions Kant provides can only lead me to state that in terms of
deontological ethics, Duran is acting unethically. However, I must stipulate that whilst he may be
acting unethically in relation to deontology, Duran may be acting in an ethical manner when we
consider other theories.
Nonetheless, before I attempt to prove the ethical intentions of Duran, I must also present other
theories that, if following their discourse, provide significant critique and defamation of Duran s
actions. Specifically, I am alluding to Shareholder and Stakeholder theories of business. Whilst there
could potentially be, in my opinion, a minor case for some support from the stakeholder view in terms

the Atlanta Braves), following their inaugural season in the NFL the organization decided to change
the name to the Boston Redskins. Obviously a couple seasons later becoming the Washington
Redskins (Shapira, 2016). The entire culture around the team was/is revolved around the history of
Native Americans, including their two feathered Native American warrior logo, their fight song titled
Hail to the Redskins , their Native American focused half time shows (All Indian Half Time Marching
Band and Pageant), and their game day program subsections titled On the Warpath and Teepee Talk
(Shapira, 2016).
Inevitably many Indigenous people found the term Redskin and the Redskin s activity extremely
offensive. This resulted in rallying in order to encourage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The controversy behind the mascot dates back decades, beginning in 1972 Native American leaders
urged former team President Edward Bennett Williams to lose the Redskin mascot. These delegations
were ineffective in changing the name. However, they were somewhat affective and resulted in the
lyrics of their fight song changing from Scalp um to Beat em (Shapira, 2016). The controversy died
down until recent years with recent up rise regarding the mascot. The consensual argument of rallying
Native Americans can be summed up by one statement by a respondent regarding the term, ... a racist

whites who largely were equally violent, ignorant and

The Hebrews Are A Covenant Oriented Demographic
The Hebrews are a Covenant oriented demographic. Their holy book is the Torah and as defined by
God for the Torah there are six Covenants to follow these would include: Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly,
Davidic, and the New Covenant. The main question pertains to the fact of how faithful were the
Hebrews And God to these Covenants. Another thought is to how did these Covenants separate the
Hebrews from their surrounding neighbors? Can these covenants be applied to daily life and resound
on a personal level in 2016 as well?I firmly believe that the covenants can provide a peace of mind for
those that are willing to accept the Scriptures and apply them to be a more ethical and morally sound
person. The six Covenants define Hebrew law and give a basis for how the current population of
Jewish people follows and practice their religion. The first Covenant is the Abrahamic covenant this is
defined in Genesis chapters 12 through 13. In Genesis 12 and 15, God grants Abraham land and
descendants. This Covenant states that to make of Abraham a great nation and bless Abraham and
make his name great so that he will be a blessing, to bless those who bless him and curse him who
curses him and all peoples on earth would be blessed through Abraham. To give Abraham s
descendants all the land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates, this is now known as Israel. To make
Abraham the father of many nations and of many descendants and give the whole land of Canaan to

Diet Anyalsis Essay
Nutrition is the science that studies food and how food nourishes our body and influences our health.
In life, many people do a lot of daily events and activities that help them enjoy being who they are.
People may enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the mall, going to an amusement park or simply
finding relaxation in nature. However one vital part of everyones life is of eating and finding the right
way to do so. Eating is a very enjoyable and delectable for everyone but should be done so, like
everything in life, in a smart and intelligent way. Being smart and perceptive when eating is a large
part of nutrition. Throughout the Diet Analysis Project, I was able to analyze and inspect my diet to

I will have to begin eating more carrots, egg yolk, broccoli, cantaloupe and drinking milk while doing
so, to increase my vitamin A (RAE) percentage. For my vitamin E percentage, milk and egg yolk will
help but I can also increase my whole grain foods and eat some sunflower seeds and nuts to get it up
where it needs to be. For my lacking vitamin D percentage I need to seriously increase my fatty fish
intake which is not difficult, due to my love of fish. Whole egg and beef liver will also both help in
getting more vitamin D in my diet.
My calorie intake overall was quite low equaling one thousand. My recommended intake was two
thousand. This wouldn t be as much of an issue if I was getting adequate exercise to burn the excess
calories and the calories I was consuming were equal to the calories I was burning. To correct this
through I will be increasing my exercise by running and lifting weights and ultimately once I start
boxing for a good period of time. I just recently started so Im looking forward to the improvements I
can make of that. Additionally I will need to watch high calorie foods and decrease my calorie intake
substantially.
Understanding that my body needs a certain number of calories to function at its prime, I realize that
when I do not eat enough, I can hurt my metabolism, lean tissue and weight management efforts. So I

The Complex Nature Of The Nursing Profession
In my relatively short tenure as a nurse I have come to understand and firmly believe that the nursing
profession is widely misinterpreted and sometimes viewed by the public as a systematic, task driven,
emotionally simplistic and withdrawn profession. When in reality the nursing profession s complex
nature requires those involved to stay current, active and embracing a dynamic approach to their
interactions. A dynamic nature is required in order to be successful in nursing, as adaptive change,
high energy and a well rounded mindset are qualities that equate to effective care. The complex nature
of interactions and health care as an encompassing system can prove to be challenging but yield
effective adaptive results. As Kleffel states that nurses need an ecocentric view to successfully identify
the multitude of interrelationships affecting effective care (as cited in Doane Varcoe, 2004, p. 50).
That is that a nurse must approach a situation or interaction from a dynamic and comprehensive
perspective.
The many interrelationships that affect the seemingly simple interactions between nurse, patient and
families are everything but simple, in fact, they are an intricate web of heterogeneous relational factors
with a purpose of contributing and developing the current state of being. The theoretical framework of
Complexity Science paired with Complex Adaptive System (CAS) is effective in explaining human
interactions and its key role in effective health care (Lindberg, Nash,

Pollution In China
Currently, most countries have made numerous environmental policies and spent lots of money to stop
environmental pollution and protect the environment. In China,
China s leaders were putting, even more, emphasis on the companies who make chemical production,
especially after chemical disasters in recent years. Although
China has made great process in supervision pollution, the serious gaps still exist in hazardous
materials oversight in China.
Recently, there was uproar among Chinese families after a report of China Central
Television, and the report revealed that about 500 students at Changzhou Foreign
Languages School had developed illnesses because of pollution at school.
This media watch summarizes three important news reports about the pollution at
Changzhou Foreign Languages School from the mainstream media and investigates and analyzes the
issue depend on five questions. (Hernández 2016)
On April 19, 2016, the journalist from the New York Times, Javier C. Hernández reported a serious
incident in eastern China. The news states that about 500 students from the Changzhou Foreign
Languages School had developed illnesses, and even a few students had leukemia, possibly due to the
pollution around the school. Although pupils and their guardians at the new campus of Changzhou
Foreign Languages School had reflected this problem to the local government because some students
had some healthy problem and a bad smell surrounded the buildings, the local government stated that

The Reflection Of Ludwig Van Beethoven And Beethoven s...
When one thinks of the most influential composers of the Classical period, who comes to mind? To
name a few, most individuals would state Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. All three of these men made
great contributions to Classical music. However, Beethoven s Ninth Symphony was considered one of
the greatest works of Classical music by both complying to and stretching the norms of the era. Not
only did Beethoven represent the formal ideals of the era, but he also opened the era to new
possibilities of freedom.
A symphony is a musical composition for an orchestra, it employs several movements. This music is
usually disciplined and lengthy. The word symphõnia is of Greek origin meaning notes sounding
together. It often indicated ensemble music in the 16th century. Symphonies for instruments only arose
in the Baroque period (Libin, LE). At this point in time someone usually conducted, but not in the
same manner we see today. The symphony genre that is displayed in Beethoven s Ninth is the product
of the classical period. The strings were then imperative and each instrument carried its own language.
In addition to this, orchestras were gaining size and sounds were changing. Currently, the orchestra is
experiencing freedom. The sections are interchangeable with size, so it changes to the composers
liking ( A Short History of the Symphony Orchestra ).
Ludwig van Beethoven composed the Ninth Symphony, even though he was deaf at the time. Many
individuals thought that he could not

Trip to Colorado
My family and I had planned a trip to Denver, Colorado to visit my brother and his girlfriend. It took
months and months to finally have it all planned out, but we finally figured everything out. We left for
the cities on a Wednesday night. We stayed in a sketchy hotel in the cities by the airport and flew out
of Minneapolis around 5:30 a.m. I was so nervous, as it was my very first plane ride. The plane was
quite small. Our plane was delayed due to them having to deice the plane due to all the cold. I
suddenly started to feel sick, all my nerves had gotten to me so I reached for the puke bag and puked
everywhere! I was so embarrassed, my family and people around me were laughing so hard at me
because I had gotten myself so worked up. But once the plane started up I felt much better.
As we arrived in Colorado, we went to go get our rental car and then headed to Pikes Peak as we
waited for Jordan and Monet to get off of work. My family had really struggled to find Pikes Peak, we
plugged it into our google maps and it took us to a campground called Pikes Peak then it took us to a
playground that was called Pikes Peak . We laughed and joked around, since we were getting lost so
easily on our first day there. But finally we found the actual Pikes Peak! We drove all the way to the
top! It was so scary driving to the top, the wind was so strong the higher we got. Mom and I were
freaking out because of how high up we were, it was so scary

Kashmir Conflict Between Hindus And Muslims
Kashmir is the northernmost geographical region of South Asia. It borders Pakistan and India in the
Himalayan Mountains. This landscape is known for its raw natural beauty and has stood out in the
history and folklore of the Indian subcontinent. At one point in time, Kashmir was aptly named
paradise on Earth . Kashmir excels at diversity. People from all over the world many different
religious backgrounds and even more diverse dialects frequent the land. Today however, the Kashmir
region is the center a multidimensional problem, with religious hostilities taking center stage. Disputes
over land seem to be a catalyst for almost every hostility and war since the dawn of time. The addition
of politics and religion into the matter only serves to aggravate an already tense situation. Kashmir
knows this all too well. The conflict between Hindus and Muslims seems to be an ever reoccurring
battle. This is also evidenced in population battles. Hindus make up the social majority of the
population of India by almost eighty percent. Feelings of tension and uneasiness are a natural reaction
to being dominated by a majority and are a problem unto itself. In order to proceed, there needs to be a
baseline of understanding in regards to Hinduism and Islam. Hinduism is a religion, or a way of life,
found most notably in India and Nepal. Hinduism has been called the oldest religion in the world, and
some practitioners and scholars refer to it as Sanātana Dharma, the eternal

The Effect Of Groucho s Short Story Of Casablanca
The effect of Groucho s short history of Casablanca is to create a humour but yet also sarcasm
scenario. The letter says, It seems that in 1471, Ferdinand Balboa Warner, your great great grandfather
... had stumbled on the shores of Africa and, raising his aplentock, which he later turned in for a
hundred shares of common, named it Casablanca (Groucho). Groucho finds it ridiculous that the
Warner Brothers thinks they own the city name Casablanca. He makes up a how supposedly the
Warner Brothers were given the right to own the name not because they made a movie using the title
Casablanca.
4) It would really not be difficult to distinguish Ingrid Bergman and Harpo Marx. In Footnote 4 and 5
it says, The beautiful female star of Casablanca ... Harpo was Groucho s brother and part of the Marx
Brothers; he wore a red, curly haired wig (Footnote 4 and 5). This comes to show that it would not
difficult to distinguish a female from a male a red curly haired wig. Unless one is blind then one may
have some trouble. However, it is not the case in this situation. Groucho is trying to make an excuse to
contradict the Warner Brothers.
5) Marx offers so many examples of Brothers to create a sense of humor but also contradict the legal
name accusation of the Warner Brothers. Groucho says, What about Warner Brother ? Do you own
that too ... Professionally, we were brothers before you were (Marx). This comes to show that Groucho
wanted to make the Warner Brothers realize they also may

Vietnam Veteran Memorial
Look at all the memorials in Washington, D.C. You can see valiant, white memorials with heroic
individuals triumphing on top of black foundations but there is one exception. The proposed Vietnam
Veteran Memorial. The Vietnam Veteran Memorial is anti heroic. The memorial has nothing relating to
the war fought. Additionally, the judging panel that chose the memorial design had no Vietnam
veterans and didn t know enough of the war. The proposed Vietnam Veteran Memorial design is
disgraceful. The proposed design is a black wall sunk into a trench. In the article, Insulting Vietnam
Vets, By Tom Carhart, he states, ... memorial is anti heroic a black hole... universal color of sorrow
and dishonor. Hidden in a hole, as if in shame. The design gives the memorial a dishonorable feel
opposed to other memorials rising with victory in white marble, the universal color of purity. Either
the material choice of black granite or the choice to have the memorial in the ground need to be
revised in order to remove the disgraceful feel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Birth Of A Baby Girl
In 1991, my mother gave birth to a new baby girl my new little sister. It was the moment that my love
of children started, I would do everything for her. She had become mine, as she got older I realized
she was not a baby anymore and I had to put more into doing for her. By the time I was 15 years old,
my cousin gave birth to a little boy. And I would babysit my sister and cousin, I thought it was so fun.
So, by this time I had become the new family babysitter. This was the time I knew I wanted to work
with children, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.
In 1996, I attended Northern High School in Durham NC, and took parenting and childcare classes. In
the parenting class we had to take a fake baby home, but the baby did all the things of a real child.
When we were given the computerized baby it came with five feelings cards, each card had a different
feeling they were feeding, wet, sleepy, love, and want to be held. When the baby would cry, you
would have to figure out what the problem was by sticking one of the cards in the baby s back and
holding it until it stopped crying if not you would have to change the card. At the end of your time
with the baby, the teacher would give you a printout of the time and minutes of what the baby wanted
or needed. When taken this class, it showed me that babies cry for different reasons at different times.
In 2000 which was my senior year of high school I took Childcare classes, this class put me on the
path of working with children. We would

  • 3. Material Requirements Planning ( Mrp ) And Lean Manufacturing Over the years, manufacturing production strategies have continued to evolve. Despite this the manufacturing strategies debate between material requirements planning (MRP) and lean manufacturing is still disputed. On one side is the philosophy that MRP software is required to adequately plan production. On the other side is the lean philosophy, which argues that these planning tools are too rigid to reflect actual production environments and ultimately impede effective production. This essay will assess if lean synchronisation is an alternative to material requirements planning. Material Requirements Planning Principles MRP was developed in the 1970 s as an inventory management system. The principle relied on conducting detailed planning to ensure that parts and materials ware obtained in time to meet the manufacturing process. It was a major step forward at the time as it capitalized on the use of the computer to generate the supply orders. (rf) The use of computers allowed operations managers to track supplies orders, obtain secondary materials and enabled precise stock levels to be measured easily. Now almost all MRP systems use computes. This led to companies creating production schedules that focused on obtaining resources to match the output level of production. (rf) Using MRP managers can determine what materials are required in what quantity and by what deadline. This is known as a push system of inventory control and involves forecasting inventory needs to meet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Racial Zoning Research Paper Distinguished in chapters three and four of The Color of Law, racial zoning is a way for organizations to manipulate and control what neighborhoods African Americans and other ethnic minority groups reside in. Due to this, many of African Americans viewed racial zoning as a serious threat to their well being in the United States. With the help of Jim Crow laws, exclusionary zoning, and the On Your Own Home campaign, banks and real estate agents had provoked economic discrimination towards various ethnic minority groups. Furthermore, through the concepts of dysfunctionalism, social inequality, latent functionalism, and Eurocentrism as seen in The Real World, racial zoning has negatively affected African Americans from breaking out of what the world considers them to be. After the American Civil War, newly freed slaves started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this intention, banks and real estate agents will no longer be readily available in urban communities, but in suburban regions. The reasoning for this stem back to the overall goal of keeping African Americans separate from whites. Now, however, without banks and real estate agents, urban communities do not have the same privilege as someone from a suburban household. This is viewed through the concepts of social inequality and Eurocentrism because of the unwillingness of whites; there is an unequal distribution of prestige regarding African American rights. In conclusion, African Americans were targeted for the ideology of racial zoning. Jim Crow laws, exclusionary zoning, and the On Your Own Home campaign, all helped support this ideology and furthermore established what concepts simulated these policies. • 5. Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor E Frankl Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor E Frankl Man as little more than a machine subject to his environment is a popular picture painted by many psychologists of today. Viktor E Frankl sets out to contend against that idea in his book Man s Search for Meaning. He contends that life is not a quest for pleasure or power, but for meaning. Frankl was a prisoner in the Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps during the holocaust. During this time, many of his family members, including his parents and his wife, suffered death in similar camps. Frankl himself suffered extreme conditions of cold, starvation, malnutrition, and slavery. He was also a psychoanalyst of sorts, and through all of his suffering, he makes incredible observations about the world that became his. In Man s Search for Meaning, Frankl chooses primarily two areas to focus on His experience and observations in the Nazi concentration camps, and his own philosophy of psychology, which he calls Logotherapy. He also delves into what he calls tragic optimism , or to put meaning into suffering, as opposed to seeking hope for deliverance from suffering. Frankl s purpose behind writing this book can potentially be taken from what he himself said the meaning of his own life is to help others find the meaning of theirs. (pg 165) Because he wholeheartedly believed in the words He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any How. (Nietzsche, pg ix) Frankl was very interested in the motivations and goals people have, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Should Animal Testing Be Used Only For Medical Research Should animal testing be used only for medical purposes in New Zealand? By Jihad Mohd Erfino Introduction: Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the world. It questions the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and even for medical research purposes. Although it happens in most of the world (including New Zealand) today, many question whether it should go on. Animal testing is generally the use of animals for different purposes in lab conditions. Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since the 2nd century BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing Wikipedia). He was the first one to have made experiments on live animals. The first animal testing experiments was to find out how our bodies work. For example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals was discovered in the 12th century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in the 17th century by William Harvey. Animal testing has also played a vital role in human medical advances. It has helped developed vaccines to cure diseases such as polio which has almost been eradicated. It has also have helped humans to have a better understanding of our bodily mechanisms, function and several diseases. Some diseases that cannot be cured yet can be treated better due to animal testing discoveries. Year Medical Advancement Animal credited 1796 Smallpox vaccine developed Cow 1881 ... The Nanjing Massacre Of Nanjing November 11th, 1937, was the date that the Japanese obtained secure control over Shanghai, meaning that this was the date that the Japanese troops began their march to Nanjing. • 12. The Great Gossip Girl By F. Scott Fitzgerald Abbi Kopf 1.7.16 The Great Gossip Girl A young man desperately battling society, wealth, and rich obnoxious friends in order to win the heart of the perfect girl...is this the story of The Great Gatsby, or the CW s Gossip Girl? Both, actually: the hit TV show mirrors Fitzgerald s most famous work through parallel themes and characters. Cynical subjects such as doomed love and corruption of the upper class play a major part in both works, as well as the story of fight to surmount class and poverty. This story actually played out a couple of times over the course of Gossip Girl s intensely dramatic six seasons, but most notably between Dan Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen. Dan Humphrey was the James Gatz of Gossip Girl, still struggling to become Jay Gatsby. He had a nice life with his father and sister in Brooklyn, but always dreamed about something greater. When Nick finally told the reader Gatsby s true origin story, he said, he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end (p.104). Dan and Gatsby both had an idealized, or Platonic, view of themselves and the way their lives would turn out, and they would stop at nothing to get it. Dan created and used Gossip Girl as a way to get into Serena s world just Gatsby used Nick to get Daisy back. Both men saw their dream girl as all the money and glamour and fame that they wanted distilled into one person, a person whose voice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Uses Of Human Biological Remains The use of human biological remains can tell us quite a lot about how past civilizations lived. One is able to deduce from the findings whether groups of people were transient or stationary by examining findings from a midden. Refuse stashes also tell us much of what a specific group consumes in terms of diet or housing materials. One is able to discover how long ago an individual lived by using dating measurements such as radio carbon dating or argon dating. The use of human biological remains is the most beneficial and educational resource for archeologists in the field and in the laboratory. There are many ways to determine antiquity with archeological findings that fall under two main categories, relative dating and absolute dating. Relative dating uses techniques applied by the archeologists themselves and produce a general understanding of the age of findings while absolute dating can provide an exact date the biological remains were alive and uses much more elaborate and in depth laboratory testing techniques. Absolute dating techniques such as dendrochronology, radiocarbon dating, and argon dating are the most effective and wide spread methods for dating human biological remains to provide a detailed analysis of antiquity. Radiocarbon dating is the most widespread and commonly used technique for dating human remains in archeology. It is known that all living things contain carbon and upon death carbon breaks down at a specific and steady rate once. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people just do not know the difference between the two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often commonly confused as the same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this subject on many credible sources I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this particular topic. First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to one s homeland. As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For example, a pro would be that it leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere; then it makes no difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. They will not imitate or copy another country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and improve the special qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security. Most cons of patriotism fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that the benefits enjoyed by centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide. They say that it is not a big problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and successful elsewhere. They also claim that in over populated countries, or those with high unemployment rates, its better when people leave. • 18. My Favorite Theory Of Mythology Myths have been a part of human lives for as long as time goes back. They tell stories, explain how things came to be, and have formed the base of many cultures throughout human history. The most difficult thing modern people come across when reading a myth is interpreting it. For this reason, I will explain my favorite theory of mythology and talk a little bit about the other theories. There are four theories of mythology; the rational theory, functional theory, structural theory, and psychological theory. Of these four theories, I feel the psychological theory is the most effective and correct way to interpret myths. To show why I believe this I will explain the psychological theory and show how it is effective across many different myths. The psychological theory looks at myths through the human mind and subconscious. People who interpret myths using this theory attempt to connect ideas in peoples subconscious to themes seen in myths. This theory came about in the 19th century when the science of psychology was expanding along with the discovery of more myths. The paired growth of these two things made the psychological approach inevitable and the two big names that contributed most are, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. In Freud s book Totem and Taboo he states his discovery of the human Oedipus complex. Freud believes that this complex forms in children at a young age, and causes children to have an unconscious sexual desire for the parent of the same sex and want to ... • 20. Cultural Identity And Well Being Assignment 2 Is there a relationship between cultural identity and well being? Introduction This paper will weigh if there is a relationship between the psychological constructs of cultural identity and well being. First there will be a consideration on what defines a cultural identity and how it fits in with psychological development and well being. Followed by an explanation of different perspectives of well being. BODY Cultural identity is a part of the psychological self concept that expresses an individual or group s worldview and perceived cultural affiliations. The first step in finding a societal fit is to establish a cultural identity; this can be on an individual level and group level. Who am I? And where do I belong? These questions start to form in the human mind from an early age; it drives humans to explore their worldviews and how and where they fit in the world. Rosenfeld (1971) argued it is a deep seated primal process that has ensured our continual survival. By finding others that think and act similarly we are offered some protection (Erickson, as cited in Carducci 2015). Erickson (as cited in Carducci, 2015) and Maslow (as cited in Mcleod 2007) argued that the need to belong is a basic building block of human development. Whatever the reason, the consensus is that humans have an intrinsic need to find a like minded cultural group to belong to; this chosen affiliation is their cultural identity. • 21. The Case Of Enric Duran The case of Enric Duran is not within the stereotypical remit of Business ethics. Nevertheless, the ethical implications and the outcomes of Duran s actions highlight some potential intrinsic flaws that are present in the current state of affairs that govern businesses and how they impact the general well being of society. There is no negating that the economic activist, who in 2009 went into hiding to avoid the repercussions of his actions, has broken the law and in no way, can ethical theories such as Kantian deontology, shareholder and stakeholder views condone his actions. However, without committing an appeal to the quoque fallacy, the points made by Duran in an interview with Vice Magazine whilst evading capture in Italy suggest the ... In Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals Kant argues that, [we] ought never to act in such a way that [we] couldn t also will that the maxim on which [we] act should be a universal law, (Kant, 2005) as such, one of the fundamental prescribed rubrics in Kantian deontology is being defied by Duran. Whilst I can appreciate the intensions of Duran in his economical vendetta, there is little opposition to the view that if we were all to steal that the overall outcome would not be beneficial for society in. in fact it is rather the converse of Duran s actions that would likely bring out a positive change in society. Maxims such as, do not steal sufficiently meet the requirements of Kant s categorical imperatives. The blatant disregard of the instructions Kant provides can only lead me to state that in terms of deontological ethics, Duran is acting unethically. However, I must stipulate that whilst he may be acting unethically in relation to deontology, Duran may be acting in an ethical manner when we consider other theories. Nonetheless, before I attempt to prove the ethical intentions of Duran, I must also present other theories that, if following their discourse, provide significant critique and defamation of Duran s actions. Specifically, I am alluding to Shareholder and Stakeholder theories of business. Their holy book is the Torah and as defined by God for the Torah there are six Covenants to follow these would include: Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly, Davidic, and the New Covenant. The main question pertains to the fact of how faithful were the Hebrews And God to these Covenants. Another thought is to how did these Covenants separate the Hebrews from their surrounding neighbors? Can these covenants be applied to daily life and resound on a personal level in 2016 as well?I firmly believe that the covenants can provide a peace of mind for those that are willing to accept the Scriptures and apply them to be a more ethical and morally sound person. The six Covenants define Hebrew law and give a basis for how the current population of Jewish people follows and practice their religion. The first Covenant is the Abrahamic covenant this is defined in Genesis chapters 12 through 13. In Genesis 12 and 15, God grants Abraham land and descendants. • 27. The Complex Nature Of The Nursing Profession In my relatively short tenure as a nurse I have come to understand and firmly believe that the nursing profession is widely misinterpreted and sometimes viewed by the public as a systematic, task driven, emotionally simplistic and withdrawn profession. When in reality the nursing profession s complex nature requires those involved to stay current, active and embracing a dynamic approach to their interactions. A dynamic nature is required in order to be successful in nursing, as adaptive change, high energy and a well rounded mindset are qualities that equate to effective care. The complex nature of interactions and health care as an encompassing system can prove to be challenging but yield effective adaptive results. As Kleffel states that nurses need an ecocentric view to successfully identify the multitude of interrelationships affecting effective care (as cited in Doane Varcoe, 2004, p. 50). That is that a nurse must approach a situation or interaction from a dynamic and comprehensive perspective. The many interrelationships that affect the seemingly simple interactions between nurse, patient and families are everything but simple, in fact, they are an intricate web of heterogeneous relational factors with a purpose of contributing and developing the current state of being. The theoretical framework of Complexity Science paired with Complex Adaptive System (CAS) is effective in explaining human interactions and its key role in effective health care (Lindberg, Nash, ... • 29. The Reflection Of Ludwig Van Beethoven And Beethoven s... When one thinks of the most influential composers of the Classical period, who comes to mind? To name a few, most individuals would state Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. All three of these men made great contributions to Classical music. However, Beethoven s Ninth Symphony was considered one of the greatest works of Classical music by both complying to and stretching the norms of the era. Not only did Beethoven represent the formal ideals of the era, but he also opened the era to new possibilities of freedom. A symphony is a musical composition for an orchestra, it employs several movements. This music is usually disciplined and lengthy. The word symphõnia is of Greek origin meaning notes sounding together. It often indicated ensemble music in the 16th century. Symphonies for instruments only arose in the Baroque period (Libin, LE). At this point in time someone usually conducted, but not in the same manner we see today. The symphony genre that is displayed in Beethoven s Ninth is the product of the classical period. The strings were then imperative and each instrument carried its own language. In addition to this, orchestras were gaining size and sounds were changing. Currently, the orchestra is experiencing freedom. The sections are interchangeable with size, so it changes to the composers liking ( A Short History of the Symphony Orchestra ).
