Biological Factors of Human Relationships
Biological factors are something that contributes hugely to the formation and maintenance of
relationships whether it is romantic, friendly or family related. Many researchers have conducted
studies in which they have attempted to try and explain the link between biological factors and human
relationships. I am going to specifically focus on Bowlby s study on the role of hormones in bonding,
Buss study on women jealousy and its relation to estrogen levels, Fishers study on the brain and its
role in romantic relationships, and Marazziti who studied the effect of serotonin on love obsession.
These studies will help me show the role that biological factors have in human relationships in both
the development and maintenance of them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of a relationship from the first and early stages of love to the more developed stages,
couples tend to move from the passionate love to the more intimate relationship of relaxation,
dependency, and security which all play into attachment. In 1969 Bowlby suggested, Humans have an
innate attachment system which consists of specific behaviours and psychological responses called
attachment behaviours. For his experiment it mainly was conducted for research on mother child
relationships however many believe that the results are relatable to both mother child and romantic
relationships. According to more modern research, it has been shown that both oxytocin a powerful
hormone which is released in men and women during touching and sex which helps to deepen and
intensify the feelings of the select attachment and vasopressin a hormone released also during sex help
in increasing the bond that is between two lovers. Through this it helps the couples to feel closer and
more bonded. One of the main criticisms of this experiment was the complexity of the researched
relationships and how since they didn t consider other factors that might affect the results, therefore
resulting in the possibility that it could be unreliable. However if looking at just this one aspect, this
biological factor can be considered to have an influence on human relationships both mother child and

Gran Torino Ethical Issues
Clint Eastwood turns his best performance in years in this thoughtful film, which provides a
compelling exploration of the impact of time and experience on moral action, both individually and
collectively. The moral and the ethical dilemma of the film is is it better to stand up against evil and
risk retribution than be quite and stay save. Shukri Abdullahi investigates. The film Gran Torino is an
exploration of many issues including gangs, racism, violence, the disrespect of the youth towards their
elders, self sacrifice and forgiveness. Although the main character, Walt Kowalski is prejudiced
towards all Asian people at the beginning of the film, his life takes unexpected turn after Thao, a shy
boy who lives next door to Walt was bullied by his cousin into joining his gang. ... Show more content

prejudices after Sue explains to him that the Hmong people fought on the American side during the
Vietnam war. After Sue invites Walt to her house Walt realises that he have more in common with the
Hmong people than with his own family. As the film continuous it is mind blowing to see Walt change

How To Put My Incapacitated Dog
On Wednesday, June 18, 2003, I had finalized the decision to put my incapacitated dog to rest. It
became a reality. I clearly remember the warm, breezy day that occurred two weeks ago. As I sat in
the freshly cutgrass of my front yard, I paid no attention to the sounds of the birds that were singing or
the leaves that were dancing on the trees. All that was on my mind was the details of the last 13 years
and remembering the times we shared together. As I kept trying to convince myself that he would not
have to suffer another day from his ailments, I kept thinking of the first day that he came into my life.
I was 15 years old when I got Valen. It was Valentine s Day in 1990. Earlier that week my mother was
near Port Jervis, New York on a business trip. She had some free time before she had to come home to
Pennsylvania so she decided to stop at the local SPCA. Her intentions were to simply look at the
animals and then leave. She made her way to the area that housed the dogs. There she found a shy, but
friendly, golden retriever. He was a bit apprehensive at first, almost as if he was neglected and abused,
but it didn t take much of my mom s gentle touch and her soft, subtle voice before this dog realized
she was his savior. She decided that she would like to adopt this dog however, the policy was strict,
and there was a seven day waiting period before you could adopt an animal. This was in place to allow
ample time for the owner to claim their animals if they got astray. As much as my mom wanted to
leave that day with the dog, she had to wait. It was on Tuesday, February 13, 1990 that my mom
received a call from the SPCA. They were pleased to have the opportunity to offer her the dog through
adoption since no one had come forward to claim him. She decided that she would go back to New
York the next day to pick him up. On Valentine s Day, I got home from school and to my surprise I
was greeted at the door by this vivacious, brown eyed golden retriever. I was so excited and I
immediately sat down on the cold, ceramic floor and played with my new friend. We rolled all over
the floor and I was giggling as he licked my face, and at the same time, he was whimpering with
happiness. We did this for about an hour until I

Electronic Text Essay
Electronic Text
Many people will argue that history began with the advent of the written word. Before books, history
was passed by word of mouth and was often lost or altered as it went from generation to generation
down through the years. For many years now our civilization has enjoyed books, journals,
newspapers, magazines, and many other types of writing. We use these literary tools to record our
lives, to invent stories from the imagination so powerful that they make writers into millionaires, and
to make news available to the general public. Today, in our technological age, a new form of literary
expression is taking place. With the invention of the internet and the trend towards more of the
population using it as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I personally love the smell of a new book, I agree that there must be a better way to publish
these books. Perhaps electronic text is that way. Rogers certainly believes so. The Internet presents all
the elements needed for a true reinvention and renaissance of book publishing (Rogers). If books were
distributed on the web, paper would not be wasted, and publishers would not be taking a risk because
the copies not sold would never have actually been printed they simply would never have been
downloaded. I believe that the future of e books is an exciting area to explore.
There are others who see e books as more threatening than exciting. They believe that e books will
one day snuff out current book publishing and that all books will have to be read off of a computer. It
is not only books that those offended by electronic text are worried about. They are worried about
newspapers and periodicals as well. Nicholas Baker is one of those offended. He writes in his book
Double Fold: Libraries and the Assault on Paper about an event he heard of back in 1999. The British
library sold off most of their newspapers in a blind auction (Baker). These newspapers were not in bad
condition as the libraries claimed; they were perfectly preserved. Many librarians, however, have
managed to convince themselves, and us, that if a newspaper was printed after 1870 or so, it will

Book 2 Of The Aeneid
At the beginning of Book 2 of The Aeneid, Aeneas tells his story about the fall of Troy. The Greeks
constructed a massive wooden horse to which the Trojans believed was an offering goddess Minerva.
They then sent one of their youths, Sinon, to give the offering to the Trojans. The Trojans brought the
wooden horse into to please the goddess but, the wooden horse was actually a structure to house some
Greek soldiers to infiltrate Troy as well as execute a sneak attack when the city was asleep. Similar to
guerrilla soldiers, the Greeks exit the wooden horse to begin their attack on the Trojan city. When
Aeneas sees the city in flames, he gathers his men to attempt to save Troy. Aeneas attempts to kill as
many Greeks as he can, but forced to retreat.

Manorialism In The Great Chain Of Being
The time of the middle ages began around 500 A.D. Feudalism is the background of the time of the
middle ages. Manorialism shows all of the different lands and jobs that take place on the manor.
Although there were lots of different roles surrounding feudalism and manorialism, the most
important one was the role of the blacksmith. In the medieval ages, everything would have been very
unsuccessful if it weren t for blacksmiths work. Feudalism is also known as the feudal system, it was
the economic and political system of this time, feudalism provided order in the society (Corrick 12

contracts, or feudal oaths, between lords and vassals (Biel 9). In feudalism, two nobles make an

The chain is based off of matter and spirit. The Great Chain of Being stated that everything in the
universe has its specific place on a ranked chain. The rankings on the chain were based off of how
much spirit and matter it has (Melani). The less spirit and the more matter an object has, the lower it is
on the chain (Melani). The Great Chain of Being comes from God. Everything has their own place and
function in the universe according to the chain s concept. To leave their place was known as betrayal
to God (Melani). Overall, the Great Chain of Being states that God put everything in a specific
position, if the object moves, they re disappointing God. Objects had to act accordingly based off of
their positions, they had to have their ideal behavior (Melani). Everyone or everything in this position
on the chain must act as they should in that position. The Great Chain of being and feudalism connect

Future Sof
The future operating environment in the year 2030 will not be that vastly different from today.
Persistent environmental factors of volatility, uncertainty, and ambiguity will remain. Because of this
constantly changing security environment and cast of uncertain adversaries, there is a continued need
for both special operations forces (SOF) and conventional forces working together within the military
instrument of national power. This paper argues that future SOF composition and capability will not
differ much from the present day because it is depends on careful selection of a very small niche of the
population that can produce desired SOF results. Additionally, future SOF should be outfitted

The current model of SOF acquisition is adequate to address emerging threats. The model works well
with the services providing the major end items to Special Operations Command (SOCOM). SOCOM
then uses an internal defense acquisition process to modify these end items (combat vehicles, aircraft,
etc) and tailor them to SOF specific missions. Thus, the burden is placed on the services for life cycle
sustainment and major end item upgrades. Moreover, the decreased acquisition cycle time allows SOF
to procure technology faster than the Department of Defense to meet emerging

Technology In Brave New World
Technology, like any tool created by human imagination is put into place to help in the ways that
nature cannot, to the point where a prominent definition is, an application of science to solve a
problem. (Ramey, 2013). Huxley s rendition of a utopia is in answer to this problem common to the
race of man, the error of human nature. In this novel technology is the cure to which the virus of
humanity has inject upon the world, and it is this negative relationship between creator and creation
that drives the plot of the story. The reader is then put into a position of caution towards the
advancement of science, Huxley s words become a warning to protect against a future fight for the
traits that define humanity. A Brave New World shows that there is no correlation between technology
and humanity because they exist in two different worlds, the utopia created leading to the deterioration
in the link to the basis of humanity because of the corruption of individuality, the loss of freedom, and
a more importantly a lack of chaos.
Some may argue that the greatest point of being human is that no two people are of the same nature;
each person grows up in different environments, experiences, and dreams, leaving behind an organism
that imprint their own stamp on the world. By taking away the ability to separate themselves from
their peers, the systematic removal of individual identity in the brave world makes it easier for the
reader to distance themselves from the characters in the

Moon Formation
There are multiple theories as to how the Moon was created and formed. The five stated are all created
and developed by different scientists. The first theory they developed is the Capture theory, which
states that the Moon has formed somewhere else and had been grabbed by Earth s gravitational pull.
Second theory developed is the Fission Theory. It supports the idea that the substance, which formed
the Moon, had been put out in the solar system by a fast spinning Earth. The Co Formation is the third
theory, suggesting that the Moon formed along the Earth 4.5 billion years ago, combing the gas and
dust in the same area. Further, into other theories, the Colliding Planetesimals theory supports the
clear idea that the Moon condensed from debris when planetesimals (Earth s building block) crashed
into each other. The final theory is the Giant Impact. This theory supports that the Moon s formation
formed when combining material that had blasted into space clashed with a new Earth; about 4.4
billion years ago. The theory I have belief in is the Giant Impact Theory. It supports the evidence of
how they are made of similar material. The crash from a planet size body would explain how the
Moon has a smaller iron core; because when the collision happened, only bits of the material to form

The theory itself has many faults, practically only explaining how the Moon got located. The idea
lacks to inform how the planets have similar material and are nearly corresponding in oxygen isotope
ratios. This theory fails to capture the whole idea of how the Moon was originally created, and only
identifies how it came to rotate around our Earth. The Capture Theory states how the Moon was pulled
by the Earth s gravitational pull, however for that to happen it has been proven that the body would be
slingshotted rather than grabbed. It s because for a planet to enter an orbit around another, it loses a lot

The Comics As New Form Of Communication
Reenvisioning Comics as New Form of Communication It is a truth universally acknowledged that as
man has evolved into a more complex being, the appearance of pictures has gradually been replaced
by words. As children mature, they are often encouraged to read lengthy novels as opposed to comics,
which are deemed to be childish and simple. However, this denies them the potential that comics can
offer in terms of communication and creativity. In his graphic essay, Show and Tell, comic artist Scott
McCloud encourages the youth to utilize the benefits comics offer as a new form of expression. By
presenting examples of how words and pictures can be harmoniously used and by identifying elements
of comics that can enhance communication, McCloud is able to successfully argue for the importance
of comics as new mediums for literature and creative expression. In addition, Hillary Chute s essay,
Comics as Literature? Reading Graphic Narrative, further elaborates on the unique characteristics of
comics that can amplify expression, such as manipulating temporality. Furthermore, Why Teach with
Comics by Jennifer Haines illustrates how comics can be used to widen the potential audience of
writer and how they can improve the way people learn. In modern society, comics are viewed as
lowbrow, simple constructions of words and images, which are primarily used for recreation.

The ones who are still alive and learning to strive with their injuries are the real victims.
In Jacqueline s extreme case, she was with five friends driving home one night when a drunk driver
swerved into their lane and hit them head on. Two of her friends died in the accident while she was
left in the burning car. Jacqueline suffered from third degree burns on 60% of her body, but the
inspiring part is yet to come. Jacqueline is not only alive and striving, but she is also learning to put
her life back together and continue with life as normally as possible. But exactly how possible is that
when you are left with noticeable deficiencies? Jacqueline was only 20 years old when the accident
happened. She had recently decided to take a break from college to move to America from Venezuela
to study English. With her injuries, she was not able to continue her college education or help her dad
run his air conditioning factory. But even with this, Jacqueline still hopes to get married and have kids
someday. She is aware that this may not be possible, but she is living life day by day hoping for a

physical change of Jacqueline after the accident was depressing, but I was able

You can get up now, Watson. The war is over. (Columbus) Many readers may be familiar with the
Scottish physician and author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote short stories about a famous
detective named Sherlock Holmes and his assistant, Dr. John H. Watson (Wilson). The 1985 film,
Young Sherlock Holmes is an imaginative creation of how Holmes and Watson met during their
younger years. In the beginning of the film, the viewers are introduced to the young detective
Sherlock Holmes and later introduced to Holmes close friend, Dr. John H. Watson. The viewers are

Rathe takes Holmes under his wing and looks out for Holmes, pretending to befriend Holmes as he

investigates the two murders, he begins to realize that there is a cult connected to the murders. The
victims were shot with a hallucinogen that caused the victims to have bizarre hallucinations that

the film. According to Christopher Null, the film portrays how Moriarty and Watson meet Holmes as
well as give an explanation to where the pipe, hat and Elementary! motto came from. Christopher Null
also mentions that the outline for Harry Potter came from Levinson s Young Sherlock Holmes (Null).
Michael Noble, another movie critic, agrees that Young Sherlock Holmes was possibly the beginning
of Harry Potter because both plots had two boys and one girl. Michael Noble further states that
Holmes and Potter had a similar starry destiny and that Holmes smart alec knowledge contributed to

Emancipation from Damaging Early Years
While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in emancipating
yourself from damaging early years. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs
were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create
unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more
difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction.
Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can
make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a
young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their
parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends,
her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic
situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live
a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a
triumphant adulthood. In this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the
first day of kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things.
Some preschools offer private daycares for gifted or highly

The Clean Energy And Security Act Of 2009
With total vote of 219 to 212, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES), also
known as Waxman Markley Cap and Trade bill ( Waxman Markey), was passed on June 26, 2009 by
the U.S. House of Representatives. The ACES Act contains five main categories. The first one is clean
energy. The second is energy efficiency. The third is reducing global warming pollution. The fourth is
transitioning to a clean energy economy, and the last is agriculture and forestry related offsets. In fact,
Waxman Markey is a comprehensive national climate and energy legislation that would establish an
economy wide, greenhouse gases (GHGs) cap and trade system and critical complementary measures
to help address climate change and build a clean energy economy. Through Waxman Markey, GHGs
emission allowance of organizations will be allocated and auctioned.
Waxman Markey proposes the clean air act to reduce the effects of global warming by setting
economy cap and trade program that control GHG gases emission using 2005 baseline. Every year,
there are more than 25,000 tons per year of GHGs that emitted by large stationary sources emitting
producers like refineries, and importers of all petroleum fuels, natural gas distributors, commercial

What can be stated as a welcome relief for the educated traveler might pose real challenges for the
hotel business. To better understand the scenario, it should be noted that hotels are presently facing
severe shortages in occupancy rates which are at their lowest since 1971. Such a crisis and lack of
funds can definitely hamper any efforts to install appliances that comply with the LEEDS standards
(Leadership in Energy Environmental Design). Some experts agree that a trade off may lead hotels
into removing free amenities that include little bottles of shampoos, jams and free basket of fruits; all
of which are the hallmark of these eco lodgings.

The hotel industry gives employment at a very large proportion of part time workers, who after
gaining substantial experience, leave for other lucrative jobs at restaurants and outdoors. Low wages
in the hotel industry is one of the primary reasons for low retention rates.

1. Discuss some of the major benefits to be gained from budgeting.
It motivates the executives to define the basic objectives of the company, it gives a structure to the
company by defining the responsibilities of each of the parts that forms the organization, it motivates
and rises the participation of all workers of the company, it obligates to maintain a control document

Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate?
First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most
convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare
the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several members
of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This committee
sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that separately are
prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise to later present
the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be delivered by the
ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line of command, and
the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises, but cannot decide. The
person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to inform the mechanism of the
budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to give the macroeconomics
information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the budget, and watch that each
part of the company gives their proposals on time. Once the period of time is established, the
committee must listen to the companies expectations and objectives. Then a manual that contains the

as its type of persuasion, the evidence/examples are statistics and numbers that express the idea that
guns aren t used for good. The Blood Drive uses pathos, a persuasion that emphasises the emotion of

Mexican Devaluation Of The Mexican Peso Crisis Essay
There are several factors involving the Mexican government which led to the Mexican Peso Crisis.
The argument has been whether sound monetary, fiscal and exchange rate policies could have
prevented the crisis or foreign intervention was inviable to control the crisis because of the effect to
the global community. The purpose of this paper is to show that it was the policies of the Mexican
government that caused the devaluation of the peso and thus the ensuing Mexican Peso Crisis. The
1994 Mexican Peso Crisis was a relatively short crisis. The economic policies of the Mexican
government needs reviewing before going into the devaluation of the peso and the crisis itself. The
President before the Mexican Peso crisis was Carlos Salinas during his administration Mexico
continued a series of reform started by previous administrations in which they restructured their
foreign debt, reduced their inflation rate, cut trade barriers and privatized various government
institutions. Mexico had reduced tariffs on imports and stabilized their inflation rate because of their
exchange rate policies. The deregulation or lack of proper regulation and changes in their monetary
and fiscal policy can have a great effect on a countries economy. The beginnings of the problem
started when Mexico privatized their banks. Privatization is when a country divests itself of the
ownership and operation of a business venture by turning it over to the free market system (Eun,
Resnick 14).

Persuasive Essay On Frankenstein
Monsters are intimidating creatures created by artists. It is incredibly common for a monster to be ugly
. Human beings judge stranger s personality based on their aesthetic, and researchers has actually
discovered that this is factual (Mlodinow). Members of the modern society would deny that they judge
others based on appearance, however, since prejudice is a human s survival instant, it is nearly
impossible to deny this fact (ASU). Long before scientists could prove this concept, writers used this
flaw against readers, in order to create terrorizing fictional novels. Play writers would make the
monster distinctively different from any other living beings, notably they achieve this task by creating

Influences of Fear in What s Eating Away At Gilbert Grape...
Fear influences the way humans react and the actions that transpire. Some embrace the feeling of fear;
others try to overcome obstacles that fear creates. Sometimes, fear stimulates a strong response of self
isolation to shield one s mind from accepting emotion. This response, however, can manifest into an
extreme nature, creating the personality that Gilbert Grape exhibits. Peter Hedges clearly
communicates the fact that Gilbert underwent a transformation and his personality reflects the change.
The transformation not only causes Gilbert to become conflicted with expressing his feelings, but he
fears the guilt of doing so as well. Gilbert struggles with his family controlling his opinions, emotions
and actions. Peter Hedges illustrates the crippling nature of fear in What s Eating Gilbert Grape.
Gilbert becomes emotionally isolated due to his fear of judgment. The relationship between Gilbert
and his family strained by the fear to act and the reality of his life creates the alienated personality
readers see. Throughout What s Eating Gilbert Grape, examples of his fear of judgment crippling him
begin to surface. Gilbert says, Something is not right about all this food going to my house. Something
is wrong inside me, I start to think, but I change the subject (112). Gilbert desperately wants to express
on how food negatively affects his whole family, especially himself. However, readers see that Gilbert
cannot even argue with himself, demonstrating how fear really plays

Honor And Propriety In The Adventures Of Peregrine Pickle
Honor and propriety are two key concepts in this excerpt of The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle by
Tobias Smollet. Smollett focuses on conveying the idea that in this time, emotional issues were less
important than maintaining a positive reputation in society. Both Pickle and Gauntlet started off on the
wrong foot at the start of the excerpt but they ultimately settle their differences in swordplay, which
was the correct way during the time. Smollet uses witty dialougue, tone, and the intensity between the
two to further sample the social norms of the time. The confrontation between the two escalated to
nuclear levels when Gauntlet carried himself as his sister s sentinel, but only expected a simple answer
from Pickle. Once the rguement

Acids And Its Effect On The Wine Industry
I know that the topic of acids in wines have been discussed many times in our wine circles. It is
important to realize that both good and bad acids exist in the wines that we drink. Let s look at acids in
wines and their effects on the final product that we all enjoy so much.
The relative amounts of tartaric and malic acids vary depending on the grape variety and on where the
grapes are grown. For example, in Burgundy, the Chardonnay has a lower concentration of malic acid
than a Chardonnay grown in the Napa Valley of California.
Both tartaric and malic acids are nonvolatile which means that they do not evaporate or boil off when
wine is heated. An example of a Volatile acid in wine is acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid does boil off
when heated, and is undesirable in wine. Volatile acidity of 0.03 0.06% is produced during
fermentation and is considered a normal level.
Tartaric and malic acids are produced by grapes as they develop. In warm climates, these acids are lost
through the biochemical process of respiration. Grapes grown in warmer climates have lower acidity
than grapes grown in cooler environments For example, Chablis (France) produces grapes with high
acid because the climate is very cool, while Napa Valley produces grapes with lower acidity because
the climate is warmer.
Sugar production in a cold verses warm climates is completely opposite of acid production. The
warmer the climate the higher the sugar content of the grapes. Australia verses

Manchester United bought the most expensive player in the world, Paul Pogba, not even a year ago,
and are looking doing the exact same thing this upcoming summer. The same summer that Manchester
United announced Pogba was returning to Old Trafford, Juventus bought Gonzalo Higuian for an

Analysis Of The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
While reading about character, I actually learned a lot of new terms. Those terms were heroine,
antihero, foil, archetypes, and scapegoat. I also learned that there are many different types of
characters. Characters can be flat, round, dynamic, stock, archetypes, and scapegoat. Although I
learned a lot, I also did know most of the reading about character. I do think this is an effective reading
because it explains facts about characters and gives a checklist for evidence to consider in analyzing a
character. I think that picking out the main character is fairly easy because most readings just focus on
one person, but if you do not know, the checklist this reading provided is very helpful.
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter
In this reading the main character, Granny, is easy to pick out. Granny is dying but she refuses to
believe that she is actually dying. On her deathbed she is thinking about keeping the house clean and
orderly. She was also thinking about the love letters that she has in the attic from her ex fiancé, John.
Granny did not want her daughter, Cornelia, to find them. Grannys last thought was that she had been
jilted. Honestly, I did not find this story very interesting because I think it was a boring topic. It is sad
that the Granny dies in the end, but how they organized it was boring. They organized it just like a
normal reading would be. I think it could have been more interesting if they organized it a different
way.

A Response To Politics And The English Language
A Response to Politics and the English Language In his essay Politics and the English language , he
states multiple examples of how politicians use the English Language against civilians. When he
wrote this essay, the people surrounding him were overcoming World War II. Due to the timing this
issue wasn t as important to them as it was for Orwell. He wanted people to understand the real threat
Politicians were having on their population. He emphasizes that politicians have learned the best way
to manipulate the general population. They used language that was extremely complicated and
unnecessary in order to control the way we think, talk, and act. Since no one had any idea what these
politicians were talking about; the only reasonable thing to do was to just listen and believe what they

Michael Mann s The Last Of The Mohicans
In 1992, director Michael Mann decided to create a remake of the American classic The Last of the
Mohicans, written by James Fenimore Cooper. The Last of the Mohicans is a novel that takes place
during the French and Indian War. The reader is taken through the story through the last surviving
members of the Mohican tribe and the British as they fight against the French and survive attacks from
the Huron Indians. Though Mann changes some details of the story slightly, the overall story remains
the same. The film follows Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook as they become involved with the
British fight against the French when a British caravan, set up by the native scout Magua, is attacked
by Huron Indians. They end up having to escort Col. Monroe s daughter s Cora and Alice to the safety
of their father s fort. However, when they arrive, the fort is on the verge of being taken by the French.
The British and French forces work out a treaty before the Huron Indians end up breaking their treaty
and attack the British once again. They reach temporary safety, but they are eventually captured by the
Hurons. The group eventually finds their way out of the Huron camp, but must fight to save Alice. The

The Criminal Justice System Is The Law Of The Land

Marcus Schulzke s article South Park and the Transformation of Meaning provides valuable insight to
the power of words. The author provides an analysis of the word faggot from the television episode
The F Word . Schulzke begins the article by speaking about South Park s history jumping from one
controversial socio cultural issue to another. Throughout its history it has remained neutral in any
issue that the television show has discussed. However in regards to homosexuality the tv show has
never sided against it. With any controversial social issue the writers purposely debate both sides of
the argument and proceed to make the limitations on both sides evident. Schulzke goes on to explain
the purpose of the episode, The F Word was to change the significance of the word faggot as a mean to
reduce the negative connotation surrounding it as well as help to make it no longer offensive to ...

It seems like the writers of the episode wanted to make the word fag so common that it would take
away the power behind the word. Others thought it would backfire and popularize the word and
increase the usage. Specifically members of the homosexual community believed that the increase
usage of the word would rub off onto the general public. The episode was more so a misguided
attempt to sympathize with gay rights. The articles goes on to question whether the meaning of a word
is based on the interpretation of the audience, the intent of the word, as it s defined in the dictionary or
a combination of all three. Schulzke believes that it is critical to understand that there are multiple
factors that go into the meaning of a word. He concludes by claiming that the intent of the usage of the
word as well as how the word is interpreted are more important in comparison to the dictionary
definition. Which goes with the saying thats its not what you say however how you say it, that s what

Essay On Muslims In America
Most would argue that American s negative conceptions of Muslims and the cultures which originate
from the Middle East have dramatically risen since 9/11. Research shows that, although this may be
true, negative attitudes towards Muslim Americans have existed throughout the decades, and have
only just become more prevalent since the September 11th attacks. In October of 2001, ABC did a poll
to come up with the results of what percentage of America has favorable views of Muslim Americans.
This poll found that in 2001 there was a 47 percent favorable view of Muslims. In 2010 the percentage
dropped to 37 percent. Today that percent is even lower, at just 27 percent.
There is much that is misunderstood about Arabs and Muslims in America. This confusion has been
promoted by the terrorists attempt to use religion to justify their acts and has led to episodes of
discrimination against both Arabs and Muslims. For instance; most Arabs in America are not ... Show

This can be compared to the anti communist movements during the cold war, where communists were
depicted as enemies of the United States and very openly discriminated against, even if those being
oppressed were of no relation to the communist party. As Said puts it, Framing, in other words, paints
over a complex reality and, more importantly, shapes our reactions and beliefs to the new reality that it
creates, which in turn, perpetuates negative stereotypes and discrimination. Due to this mentality
Muslims from everywhere and of every group are being discriminated against. Many Muslim
Americans have been heard saying that after 911, it has become a lot more difficult to live in the
United States. Many have said that they had been singled out by airport security officers and been
placed under extra scrutiny because of their

The Effects Of Exorcism On The Evil Spirit
In all aspects of life, people come across things that simply cannot be explained. Whether people
choose to believe something or not; it still is prevalent in life. Exorcism is the expulsion or attempted
expulsion of an evil spirit from a person or a place (https://www.google.com). In horror films, the
main focus during the exorcism is on the evil spirit. Films have negatively drawn our attention to evil
spirit because it is more interesting to watch. But in reality, behind every exorcism there is an exorcist
that risks his life to save another: And the exorcist, who risks more than anyone else in an exorcism,
flits across the screen as necessary but, in the end, not so interesting as the sound effects (Martin 8).
Exorcists are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An exorcist risks his life during an exorcism and has to be prepared for the end result he may die or a
part of him may die. Many exorcists are not the same after they come in contact with pure evil.
(Martin 10). Not all exorcisms are preformed because of the possession of another human being. In
fact, most exorcisms are preformed in haunted buildings infested with evil spirits, which is known as
demonic infestation. The other types of infestation are oppression and possession. Oppression is when
a demon focuses on a particular person and possession is when the person has allowed the demon to
take over its whole body. The most common form, demonic infestation, occurred in the Cranmer
house. Bob Cranmer had bought his childhood dream house. But, after a few months of living there, a
demon had made itself present. Bob Cranmer had brought in Father Mike Salvagna, a priest, and
Adam Blai, a psychiatrist, to get rid of the demon. The demon s name was Moloch, whom was usually
associated with child sacrifice in the Old Testament. Moloch was in complete control of all possession
in the house. After the priest threw holy water on the walls, Moloch fought back by making the walls
bleed; which there was no scientific evidence in how the blood had gotten there. The strange part of
this story is that the demon did not cause a scene as the priest preformed the exorcism. Bob Cranmer
described it like a

Biological Factors of Human Relationships Biological factors are something that contributes hugely to the formation and maintenance of relationships whether it is romantic, friendly or family related. Many researchers have conducted studies in which they have attempted to try and explain the link between biological factors and human relationships. I am going to specifically focus on Bowlby s study on the role of hormones in bonding, Buss study on women jealousy and its relation to estrogen levels, Fishers study on the brain and its role in romantic relationships, and Marazziti who studied the effect of serotonin on love obsession. In 1969 Bowlby suggested, Humans have an innate attachment system which consists of specific behaviours and psychological responses called attachment behaviours. For his experiment it mainly was conducted for research on mother child relationships however many believe that the results are relatable to both mother child and romantic relationships. According to more modern research, it has been shown that both oxytocin a powerful hormone which is released in men and women during touching and sex which helps to deepen and intensify the feelings of the select attachment and vasopressin a hormone released also during sex help in increasing the bond that is between two lovers. Through this it helps the couples to feel closer and more bonded. One of the main criticisms of this experiment was the complexity of the researched relationships and how since they didn t consider other factors that might affect the results, therefore resulting in the possibility that it could be unreliable. However if looking at just this one aspect, this biological factor can be considered to have an influence on human relationships both mother child and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How To Put My Incapacitated Dog On Wednesday, June 18, 2003, I had finalized the decision to put my incapacitated dog to rest. It became a reality. I clearly remember the warm, breezy day that occurred two weeks ago. As I sat in the freshly cutgrass of my front yard, I paid no attention to the sounds of the birds that were singing or the leaves that were dancing on the trees. All that was on my mind was the details of the last 13 years and remembering the times we shared together. As I kept trying to convince myself that he would not have to suffer another day from his ailments, I kept thinking of the first day that he came into my life. I was 15 years old when I got Valen. It was Valentine s Day in 1990. Earlier that week my mother was near Port Jervis, New York on a business trip. She had some free time before she had to come home to Pennsylvania so she decided to stop at the local SPCA. Her intentions were to simply look at the animals and then leave. She made her way to the area that housed the dogs. There she found a shy, but friendly, golden retriever. He was a bit apprehensive at first, almost as if he was neglected and abused, but it didn t take much of my mom s gentle touch and her soft, subtle voice before this dog realized she was his savior. She decided that she would like to adopt this dog however, the policy was strict, and there was a seven day waiting period before you could adopt an animal. This was in place to allow ample time for the owner to claim their animals if they got astray. As much as my mom wanted to leave that day with the dog, she had to wait. It was on Tuesday, February 13, 1990 that my mom received a call from the SPCA. They were pleased to have the opportunity to offer her the dog through adoption since no one had come forward to claim him. She decided that she would go back to New York the next day to pick him up. On Valentine s Day, I got home from school and to my surprise I was greeted at the door by this vivacious, brown eyed golden retriever. I was so excited and I immediately sat down on the cold, ceramic floor and played with my new friend. We rolled all over the floor and I was giggling as he licked my face, and at the same time, he was whimpering with happiness. We did this for about an hour until I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Electronic Text Essay Electronic Text Many people will argue that history began with the advent of the written word. Before books, history was passed by word of mouth and was often lost or altered as it went from generation to generation down through the years. For many years now our civilization has enjoyed books, journals, newspapers, magazines, and many other types of writing. We use these literary tools to record our lives, to invent stories from the imagination so powerful that they make writers into millionaires, and to make news available to the general public. Today, in our technological age, a new form of literary expression is taking place. With the invention of the internet and the trend towards more of the population using it as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I personally love the smell of a new book, I agree that there must be a better way to publish these books. Perhaps electronic text is that way. Rogers certainly believes so. The Internet presents all the elements needed for a true reinvention and renaissance of book publishing (Rogers). If books were distributed on the web, paper would not be wasted, and publishers would not be taking a risk because the copies not sold would never have actually been printed they simply would never have been downloaded. I believe that the future of e books is an exciting area to explore. There are others who see e books as more threatening than exciting. They believe that e books will one day snuff out current book publishing and that all books will have to be read off of a computer. It is not only books that those offended by electronic text are worried about. They are worried about newspapers and periodicals as well. Nicholas Baker is one of those offended. He writes in his book Double Fold: Libraries and the Assault on Paper about an event he heard of back in 1999. The British library sold off most of their newspapers in a blind auction (Baker). These newspapers were not in bad condition as the libraries claimed; they were perfectly preserved. Second theory developed is the Fission Theory. It supports the idea that the substance, which formed the Moon, had been put out in the solar system by a fast spinning Earth. Further, into other theories, the Colliding Planetesimals theory supports the clear idea that the Moon condensed from debris when planetesimals (Earth s building block) crashed into each other. • 12. The Comics As New Form Of Communication Reenvisioning Comics as New Form of Communication It is a truth universally acknowledged that as man has evolved into a more complex being, the appearance of pictures has gradually been replaced by words. As children mature, they are often encouraged to read lengthy novels as opposed to comics, which are deemed to be childish and simple. However, this denies them the potential that comics can offer in terms of communication and creativity. In his graphic essay, Show and Tell, comic artist Scott McCloud encourages the youth to utilize the benefits comics offer as a new form of expression. By presenting examples of how words and pictures can be harmoniously used and by identifying elements of comics that can enhance communication, McCloud is able to successfully argue for the importance of comics as new mediums for literature and creative expression. In addition, Hillary Chute s essay, Comics as Literature? Reading Graphic Narrative, further elaborates on the unique characteristics of comics that can amplify expression, such as manipulating temporality. Furthermore, Why Teach with Comics by Jennifer Haines illustrates how comics can be used to widen the potential audience of writer and how they can improve the way people learn. In modern society, comics are viewed as lowbrow, simple constructions of words and images, which are primarily used for recreation. Although some progress has been made in familiarizing ... Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood. The purpose of this paper is to show that it was the policies of the Mexican government that caused the devaluation of the peso and thus the ensuing Mexican Peso Crisis. Peter Hedges clearly communicates the fact that Gilbert underwent a transformation and his personality reflects the change. The transformation not only causes Gilbert to become conflicted with expressing his feelings, but he fears the guilt of doing so as well. Both Pickle and Gauntlet started off on the wrong foot at the start of the excerpt but they ultimately settle their differences in swordplay, which was the correct way during the time. • 30. Acids And Its Effect On The Wine Industry I know that the topic of acids in wines have been discussed many times in our wine circles. It is important to realize that both good and bad acids exist in the wines that we drink. Let s look at acids in wines and their effects on the final product that we all enjoy so much. The relative amounts of tartaric and malic acids vary depending on the grape variety and on where the grapes are grown. For example, in Burgundy, the Chardonnay has a lower concentration of malic acid than a Chardonnay grown in the Napa Valley of California. Both tartaric and malic acids are nonvolatile which means that they do not evaporate or boil off when wine is heated. An example of a Volatile acid in wine is acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid does boil off when heated, and is undesirable in wine. Volatile acidity of 0.03 0.06% is produced during fermentation and is considered a normal level. Tartaric and malic acids are produced by grapes as they develop. In warm climates, these acids are lost through the biochemical process of respiration. Grapes grown in warmer climates have lower acidity than grapes grown in cooler environments For example, Chablis (France) produces grapes with high acid because the climate is very cool, while Napa Valley produces grapes with lower acidity because the climate is warmer. Sugar production in a cold verses warm climates is completely opposite of acid production. The warmer the climate the higher the sugar content of the grapes. Australia verses ... I think that picking out the main character is fairly easy because most readings just focus on one person, but if you do not know, the checklist this reading provided is very helpful. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter In this reading the main character, Granny, is easy to pick out. Granny is dying but she refuses to believe that she is actually dying. On her deathbed she is thinking about keeping the house clean and orderly. She was also thinking about the love letters that she has in the attic from her ex fiancé, John. Granny did not want her daughter, Cornelia, to find them. Grannys last thought was that she had been jilted. Honestly, I did not find this story very interesting because I think it was a boring topic. It is sad that the Granny dies in the end, but how they organized it was boring.
