This document provides steps to repair Windows 7 using a Windows 7 installation disc when the operating system will not start up. The steps are: 1. Boot the computer from the Windows 7 disc by pressing a key like F12 during startup and choosing to boot from the disc. 2. When prompted, choose the "Repair your computer" option and then either "Startup Repair" to try to automatically repair issues preventing startup, or "System Restore" to try reverting settings to an earlier point when Windows was working. 3. If using System Restore, select an earlier restore point and follow prompts to complete the restore process and hopefully restart Windows 7.

1. How to Repair Windows 7
It probably happened to you w hile you w ere in the middle of something important; your screen turned blue and your computer
restarted because something w as preventing your operating system to w ork correctly. Or maybe your laptop w as in sleep mode and
now it w on't start up again. Your operating system w on't start up because something is preventing it. In this tutorial w e will explain
step-by-step how to repair Window s 7 when something is preventing it f rom starting up. You w ill need a Window s 7 CD.
Step 1:
Turn on your computer and insert a Window s 7 CD. Af ter that, press “F12″ to boot the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM.
Note: Not every computer uses the “F12" button to boot the CD/DVD ROM. Dif f erent buttons are used but “F12” is the most
common. Another w ay of booting f rom the CD/DVD ROM is to set the boot priority in BIOS.
Af ter you press the “F12” button, the f ollow ing w indow w ill show up. Choose to start f rom your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM driver and press
“Enter”. In my case my DVD-ROM is “MATSHITADVD-RAM”.
Af ter you press “ Enter” your computer w ill start to boot f rom CD-ROM/DVD-ROM. You w ill get the follow ing window: “Press any
key to boot f rom CD or DVD."
Af ter you have pressed any key on your keyboard, the Setup w ill start loading f iles like in the follow ing image:

2. Step 2:
Af ter you have f inished w ith Step 1,the f ollow ing picture w ill show up. In this w indow select “Language to install ”, “Time and
currency f ormat “ and “Keyboard or input methods” and press “Next” to continue.
To continue repairing your computer press “Repair your computer"
Af ter you have pressed “Repair your computer", Window s 7 setup w ill lead you to another step.
If you think that something is preventing your computer f rom starting, then press Startup Repair.
If the f irst option does not w ork then choose the second one, w hich is System Restore. Using System Restore, you can f ix a lot of
problems and prevent your computer f rom starting up.
There are a few other options you can use but in this tutorial w e will only cover the f irst two options.
Step 3:
This w indow will show up. In this w indow choose a restore point and press “Next”.
Af ter you have selected “Next” w ait f or the System Restore to f inish its job. Af ter that your Window s 7 might start up again.
So, now you know how to repair your Window s 7 operating system by using a Window s 7 CD. Either by using System Restore or
Start Up Repair, you are all set!
