Native plants are easy to plant with a few simple steps: clear the planting area, dig holes twice as wide as the plant's pot but not as deep, gently place the plant in the hole and fill with soil an inch above the surrounding soil, water thoroughly by digging a basin and filling it until the soil is saturated, apply pre-emergent and mulch around the plants, and regularly water newly planted plants for their first year as their roots establish.
