Analyzing Multiple Perspectives
From an early age I have been passionate about reading. Like seriously, when I was five years old
I was upset that I didn t get the newest Little Mermaid book for Christmas. However, I have never
had an interest in writing. Unfortunately, as I plan to go to graduate school to obtain my Ph.D, I
really cannot avoid it. Over the years, my lack of enthusiasm about writinghas caused me to view
most English classes as a chore, something I needed to do in order to advance to what I really
wanted to do with my life. With the risk of sounding like a suck up, this is one of the first English
classes I have valued because I have felt like I improved some aspect of my writing in each essay.
One of the biggest take aways I have had is how to write a proper conclusion. This can best be seen

My first semester I had to write a literature review which was a similar process to this paper.
Unfortunately, I really had no idea how to write one and spent a ton of unnecessary time finding
articles and then trying to remember what they were on. This was my first time doing an annotated
bibliography and it helped me tremendously. Through the annotated bibliography, I learned how
to properly organize my research. I think this is evident in how strong my introduction is.
Although my annotated bibliographies will probably not be as detailed if I am not turning them
in for a grade, I will most likely utilize them in other classes to provide a direction for my research
and save time in the long

Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream
The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality
to fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American
Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to
Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an
easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was
not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start
of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right.
With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and
broken, including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the
highest recorded speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles
Lindbergh set off from New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully
complete the journey. Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved,
Charles A Lindbergh embodied the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did.
Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles
Augustus Lindbergh and Evangeline Lodge Land. His family was from Minnesota, where he grew
up. As a child, he frequently visited his father in Washington, D.C., as his father served in the U.S.
Congress. But even

The Legend Of Alice Monologue
It was an immaculate wedding, white roses adorning the hedges and everyone dressed in lightly
coloured dresses and suits. Alice, a nineteen year old bridesmaid, attending the wedding as her
auntie was getting married, was in a pale blue dress and had light curly blonde hair. She didn t
want to be there, but she was forced by her Auntie. Her Auntie Paige loved the colour red and
didn t love anything else (she was only marrying for the money), she was so infuriated that there
were only white roses that she ended up destroying the delicate gold and white cake. Alice then
began to sneak out, and explore the intricate hedge maze as she wanted to leave the unfortunate
wedding. As she walked along she smelt the freshly picked white roses and felt the glistening
sun on her, she loved the feeling of being alone; being isolated from everyone, she didn t want to
be like everyone else and end up getting married, settle down and have kids, she wanted to explore
and adventure around the world. Suddenly, Alice spotted a peculiar creature that hopped along in
the distance; it had tall ears, lightly coloured fur and was quite small, it was holding an interesting
device that looked like a compass crossed with a clock. The creature started rushing faster than
anything Alice had seen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kite Runner Essay
Since the beginning of time, women have had to fight rigorously for basic human rights. In the
western stratosphere, those human rights were achieved in the early 20th century, but in a lot of
eastern countries the battle for the women is just beginning, or worse hasn t even started. Women in
Afghanistan have been subject to heinous circumstances, even though their religion, Islam
demanded that men and women be equal before God, (Qazi). Khaled Hosseinis The Kite Runner
offers a very insightful view of the governing politics of Afghanistanpre Talibanregime and during
the Taliban regime, and the differing situation of women in both those eras. Based on the book and
outside research, it is evident that the situation of women in... Show more content on

If a woman displayed herself in a sexy manner, as Sanaubar did, she would be considered
dishonorable (8). If an unwed woman held a conversation with a man, she would be seen as a
lochak (146), or in other words a brazen girl. The honor of a girl mattered so much because
virtuous girls brought in respectable suitable suitors (148), and one of the most important things
an Afghani girl needed was a husband. This cultural belief gave men an overbearing advantage
once they married. The men essentially controlled how their wives lived their lives. The prime
example in this case would be General Taheri, who had many opinions on how women should
behave. The General forbade his wife to sing in public because he thought it was a job for
people with lesser reputations (177), he didn t approve of women drinking alcohol, (183), and
was constantly worried about the public perception of his family. Baba, to some extent also
represented these views. He talked about losing ones honor in a very somber manner, and believed
that a man s honor rested in the chastity of a wife. Or a daughter. (145)
The bulk of the blame for the tyranny of Afghani women falls on the Taliban. The Taliban was
started in in response to an infamous gang rape that occurred in

The Theory Of Economic Change
Introduction Change is often seen as a destabilizing element, but it is necessary for a company to
change since it enables to adapt to the environment and its evolutions. But before applying any
change, the company needs to strategically reflect on the change management and implement a
management team that will be able to support the contributors in order to anticipate and then fight
the resistance to change. The theory of economic change (R. Nelson and S. Winter, 1982)
highlights the ability for a company to adapt to environmental evolutions thanks to its learning
capacity. A great competitive environment, networks and thoughts globalization, ubiquitous
communication or even size strategies make companies take more into account... Show more

It refers to the process that accompanies the life of any business dealing with instability and
development of its environment. The change management means the entire process that goes from
the perception of an organizational problem in defining a framework of actions that enables the
development, selection and implementation of a solution under optimal conditions for success.
Different types propose a classification of the different changes that can take place within a
company. Among these include a classification that examines the areas of change: economic, legal,
social, technological, ecological, cultural, political, organizational, and strategic while another
studied the change according to its characteristics: global or partial, slow or fast, marginal or major.
Similarly, according to that change is marginal or major; it is possible to distinguish different
degrees of changes: the setting, the reform, restructuring or even the rebuilding. While the
adjustment and reform are conventionally managed by the company in its daily operations,
restructuring and rebuilding, for their part, are true organizational change.
Both types of change lead to a real transformation of the processes at work in the company and a
real cultural revolution. These changes, by their propensity to generate resistance, must be subject
to special management. Change can also be studied, according to the behaviour adopted: led
directed, spontaneous or planned (typology of H. Mintzberg).

The renovation of the flooring in MLH 120 was to update classrooms and labs to current standards
because current classrooms and labs simply don t meet the new requirements of the ADA
(Americans with Disabilities Act). Data was collected through different means of measurement of
the classroom, tables, bolts and nuts. Tools that were used in the data collection was a micrometer,
vernier calipers, meter stick, and a fiberglass tape measure. Measurements were conducted three
times by team members, which reduced the margin for error in data collection. These tools were
used to evaluate and to give concrete data and measurements of the classroom, tables, bolts and

The Effect Of Weight Lifting And Its Effects On Basketball...
Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players
Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between one another,
clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead: the basketball. A game of strategy and high
demands, basketball calls on both the body and the mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It
calls on your body in many ways that will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally,
the game will demand a high intelligence and acumen from the mind when making split second
decisions. Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally; furthermore,
this training can then be applied onto the basketball court to help increase the physical and mental
attributes of a player. Being well equipped physically for basketball provides many advantages
when you apply it correctly. Basketball is a unique sport that contains non stop movement in
every moment. The objective is simple: score more points than the other team. This is
accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines for fluid
motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this consistent activity can be
extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of basketball the gameplay is live until the
ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul, timeout called, or the end of a quarter. While this may
seem like quite a few factors to allow a dead ball and some rest time, they do not occur as much

The Organizational Culture of Quinlan s
The Organizational Culture of Quinlan s
Introduction
Quinlan has been UK s foremost retail giant for a long period of time. By end of 1998 there was
evidence of a crisis and since then the company has been on a decline. The company has been
ignoring market changes and trying to maintain its corporate image and identity. This has caused
the customers to drift to more fashionable brands causing huge loss of business to Quinlan.
Presently the company is on a restructuring exercise to improve sales with particular emphasis on
customer satisfaction and marketing.

This culture gives prominence to achievement and competitiveness. Employees usually work long
hours to achieve certain goals.
c) Clan This culture is reflected in organisations that emphasise on employee s participation in
meeting changes of the environment. Particular attention is paid to employee well welfare.
d) Bureaucratic This type of culture is visible in organisations that follow a well defined way of
doing things. Employees are not encouraged to take risks and rewarded for following rules. This is
suitable for a stable environment that is hard to find in these modern days.
It is visible that Quinlan s culture was bureaucratic. In particular Quinlan had:
a) Properly defined rules and procedures to function in a predictable and routine manner
b) Roles were clearly defined and labour was divided based on these roles
c) A hierarchical chain of command
d) Clear separation of ownership and control
Culture and organisation success
Daft, Management, 2003, chapter 3 explains that an organisation has two main environments: the
external and internal. The external environment includes elements that exist outside the boundary
but have the ability to affect the organisation. Eg. competitors, resources, technology, customers.

Examples Of Green Light In The Great Gatsby
For my book cover of The Great Gatsby, I choose the green light because it represents how you
never give up and keep striving for your dreams and hopes, even if you feel like it s going to be
hard to get where you want. Another definition would be the American s Dream which is to
equal rights to everyone in the the US. Also, it means to like go forward when you re trying to
get to the top, never look back to your mistakes, always learn from them and do more of what
you re capable of doing. For example, little kids when they see something up high or anything

Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest
Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid representation of death
and its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the earth
welcoming the speaker back into the realm of nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth
and when we die, our bodies return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful
image of what death is composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and
disturbing. When individuals are presented with the thought of death, they often push this
thought away out of fear and ignorance. Everyone will die someday whether we ignore the
thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a relaxing and welcoming image for the reader
on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver is still alive, she doesn t know what death
feels like. However, the way she describes death, I hope that it feels like sleeping in a forest; full
of stars and enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by the earth welcoming the
speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so tenderly. This statement
exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the earth is being portrayed
as a woman. This is significant because women are often portrayed as being nurturing and caring.
For the reader, this can trigger memories or ideas of who the reader would picture the earth as.
Whether that be a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. the reader can

Why Is Boo Important In To Kill A Mockingbird
Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird Boo Radley is thought of by everyone in town as crazy and
creepy. Boo Has gotten into a lot of trouble in the past. He was charged by the police for grand
theft auto and also stabbed his dad in the leg with a pair of scissors. This doesn t mean that he
deserves to spend the rest of his life locked up inside of his house though. Boo is like a
mockingbird kind, not seen, and quiet. Tom Robinson is also like a mockingbird, quiet, honest,
and kind. Which one more resembles a mockingbird Boo or Tom? Boo was kind like a
mockingbird in many different ways. One of those ways was when Boo started putting stuff in
the tree for Scout and Jem(Lee 44). This is important because it gives Scout and Jem the idea that
Boo is actually kind and that he wants to be friends. The reason he put stuff in the tree is because
he wanted people to think that he is kind to children. All of the stuff that Boo put in the tree is
friendly stuff that kids might want or like to play with. Another example of this was when Boo
found Jem s pants. Boo cleaned them, folded them, and put them back on the fence. (Lee 71). This
is important because it shows Scout and Jem that Boo does not want to hurt them and that he does
not care that they are messing with them, he just wants to be friends. These are both examples of...

though Boo is more kind than Tom Robinson. Boo had more examples from the book that

Freud s Theory Of Instincts And The Individual Psyche
In Sigmund Freud s Civilization and its Discontents , we are introduced to a new outlook in the
way we view our lives due to his analysis of civilization and how it has affected our happiness.
Freud uses his theory of instincts in order to explain what encourages us as well as how our
behavior is all linked together and is motivated by our instincts. He explains why humans seek
happiness and how it is one of the toughest things to achieve. Towards the end of his book he also
gives an insight on how the individual psyche which consist of the id, ego, and super egoleads us to
feel guilt and its impact on civilization. Through his theory of instincts and the individual psyche,

The pleasure principles goal is to avoid pain, which Freud later states it is not always a good thing
because the longer things follow the pleasure principle the happiness received begins to decrease
and no longer has the same affect. Overall, this makes it harder for individuals to stay happy. Along
with the pleasure principle, Freud states there are three main things that also make us unhappy
which are our body, the external world, and our relations with others. And out of all these three, the
worst comes from our relations with others, we hurt one another more than anything else on earth.
Freud states, happiness ... is a problem of the economics of the individual s libido libido meaning
sexual desires, he demonstrates how an individual s sexual desires and being able to fulfill them
leads them to their happiness. At the same time, Freud s use of libido can also represent a
person s desires and pleasures as a whole and not limiting itself to sexual pleasure. Libido
connects to Freud s theory of instincts. Freud believes that our instincts influence our behavior,
and our behavior is caused by our desires. Satisfaction of instinct spells happiness for us , this
implies that if our desires are satisfied, our behavior is better and we will be happy. However,
there seems to be a problem when it comes to Freud s theory of instincts and civilization. Freud
states that civilization

The Preterm Birth And Autism
Prematurity and Autism have long time been thought to be linked. For reason such as late
development of preterm infants to the lack of adequate weight at birth. But, is it true that if a
baby is born preterm then they are destined to be autistic? In order to answer that question, we
must first be educated on preterm infants as well as the disorder of Autism. Not many people are
educated on what Autism is and even less are educated on the health and well being of premature
babies. The purpose for this research is to shed some light on both autism and premature birth as
well as justify if there is any connection between preterm birthand autism.
When one thinks of a baby born prematurely many imagine a tiny one pound baby barely able to
live even with all the ventilators and machines hooked up to it. They imagine a baby that will be
under weight and unable to leave the hospital for many months to come. Few will know the risk
factors that come along with being preterm, and even less will know that preterm babies are just as
capable of living healthy and normal lives. Every child develops in their own unique way, and your
baby s development will depend on a range of factors, including his genetic make up, and the
environment and influences around him (https://www.tommys.org).
For those who are unsure of what qualifies a baby as premature, a premature baby is any baby that
is born before 37 weeks gestation. Any baby born at 37 weeks or higher is considered full term. Late

Biblical And Mythological Allusions Of Moby Dick
Moby Dick is Herman Melville s masterpiece, a purposeful novel that acts both as a documentary
of a sea voyage but also a philosophical allusion on life as a whole. Moby Dick is far beyond its
time in reference to its use of allusion within its text. In this novel, Herman Melville frequently
uses biblical and mythological allusions. With these strategic allusions, the reader is able to
begin to understand the topics of discussion within the book and is also exposed to the wisdom
and potential knowledge Melville possesses. Melville uses many Biblical and mythological
references in the form of character stories, which I found beneficial in helping interpret the texts
meaning (Howard, 27). This paper will discuss the Biblical and Mythological allusions that
Melville s use in Moby Dickin the hopes to develop a deeper understanding of the issues Melville
was hoping to address. An Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a well known person, place,
thing, cultural, historical, or literary work (Delahunty, 24). As Described by Andrew Delahunty in
the Oxford Dictionary of Reference and Allusion, allusions form a colorful extension to the English
language, drawing on our collective knowledge of literature, mythology, and the Bible to help us
connect and interpret literature (26). Though an allusion is used to reference something significant,
it does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it is referring too. Writers often use
allusions as just a passing comment

The Question Of Antibiotic Resistance
Introduction The question of antibiotic resistance is a growing phenomenon in contemporary
society and modern medicine; it pertains to pathogenic organisms and is one of the most eminent
issues of public health in the twenty first century. Though resistant genes are ancient, its increasing
prevalence poses a threat. It demands a greater need for antibiotic therapies. New resistance
mechanisms may spread globally and limit our ability to treat disease and lead to a giant hole in the
pillars of modern medicine. The immense increase in antibiotic resistancecan be attributed to many
factors. Along with spontaneous gene mutation, natural selection, and cell to cell gene transfer,
humans play a huge part in the worsening of the epidemic. The Union of Concerned Scientists
estimated in 2001 that more that seventy percent of the antibiotics used in the United States are
given to food animals without disease to increase growth and decrease probability of mortality;
medicine is used ensure and maximize profit. The misuse of antibiotics leads to an increase in
resistance in that it exposes bacteriato antibiotics when this exposure is not necessary. Additionally,
culturally ingrained practices of using antibiotics sans prescription, sharing antibiotics with others,
and over prescription and dispensing antibiotics either incorrectly or needlessly due to the
commercialization of medicine in combination with patients exaggeration of disease symptoms all
contribute to the excessive use

Billy Pilgrim as a Christ Figure in Kurt Vonnegut Jr. s Slaughterhouse Five
After reading the novel, Slaughterhouse Five, written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., I found my self in a
sense of blankness. The question I had to ask myself was, Poo tee weet? (Vonnegut p. 215). Yet, the
answer to my question, according to Vonnegutwas, So it goes (Vonnegut p.214). This in fact would
be the root of my problems in trying to grasp the character of Billy Pilgrim and the life, in which
he leads throughout the novel. The pilgrimage that Billy ventures upon is one of mass confusion,
running with insanity, finally followed by sanctuary, if layed out in a proper time order sequence.

They like God take no part in the changing or altering of the past, present or future. The moment
is structured that way (Vonnegut p.117). God does not interfere, due to the concept of free will
for beings. While the Tralfamadorians take no part because of their believe in no free will. Only on
Earth is there any talk of free will (Vonnegut p.86). The existence of free will is the major
difference between the two sources of knowledge. God uses free will to allow actions to take place
in order to remain the father figure or overseer of life, in which Jesus Christ preached to the
masses. The Tralfamadorians seeing in the fourth dimension exclude the existence of free will
because of their ability to see the time line of existence at any moment. Thus believing the pre
determined destiny of all creatures. This believe does not allow them to take any action in the
change of the universe because they do not have the free will to do so, therefore time goes without
altercation. This believe is supported when the Tralfamadorians state that they know how the
universe ends and will do nothing about it because it is the way it shall be, even though they
themselves cause the destruction. We blow it up, experimenting with new fuels for our flying
saucers; the whole Universe disappears (Vonnegut p.117).
The source of these two men s knowledge plays a very important role in their development as
prophets. Jesus Christ, who came

Madagascar. Their bodies are covered in thick, coarse fur that is white on their torsos and dark
reddish brown on their fore and hindlimbs, with dark faces and white noses. P. coquerii are a
diurnal species of folivorous and frugivorous primates that live in either deciduous or evergreen
forests, and typically weigh 3.4 3.6 kg. Females are dominant over males, and they typically
congregate in one maleone female mating pairs or multi male multi female social groups. Males
will compete for dominance in order to be able to mate with females in the group. Lemurs exhibit
more scent marking behaviors than most other primates, and use their throat, wrist, and anogenital
glands to scent mark their habitats and signal to other lemurs. The Bronx Zoo has two adult

The Parthenon At Athens
The Parthenon at Athens is a Doric temple, eight columns wide by seventeen deep, but it
incorporates Ionic attributes, such as slender column proportions and use of the Ionic order in its
western opisthodomos or rear porch. The temple represents the Culmination of the Doric order. It
stands on a platform or stylobate of three steps (krepidoma), as per the Doric order. In common with
other Greek temples, it is of post and lintel construction and is surrounded by columns ( peripteral )
carrying an entablature (the superstructure of moldings and bands which lie horizontally above
columns, resting on their capitals). The use of eight columns across the gable end, which is unusual
in the Doric order, clearly has connections to earlier Ionic temples.

India s Indian Rural Market
Introduction
There is growing realization among marketers about the enormous untapped potential of India s
rural markets. The Indian rural market with its vast size and demand base offers great
opportunities to companies. In India, there are 6,42000 villages . While agriculture used to be the
major source of income in rural areas, over the past 10 12 years, the dominance of agriculture has
been rapidly declining. The contribution of agriculture to India s GDP was less than 20% in 2008
09. There is a sizeable population of self employed persons in the hinterland and quite a few of
them are into services such as repair and maintenance of motors and pump sets, televisions and
other electrical appliances, farm equipment, tractors and two wheelers. Some are also engaged in
other services like hospitality, transport, entertainment etc.
The Indian Rural Market
пѓ The Indian rural market is much larger when compared to the urban market in terms of
population and number of households, and also by way of geographic dispersal. The rural market
is the new driving force of the Indian Consumption Story . With only 31.16% of the Indian
population living in urban areas and 68.84% residing in the villages (Census 2011), it is only a
matter of time before rural India takes its rightful place in the Indian growth story. Faced with a
threat of declining growth rates in future urban markets, businesses have started focusing on the
huge and relatively untapped rural Indian market. The major

Examples Of Prima Facie Case Of Obviousness
In the U.S., when examining a patent application with claims directed to novel chemical
compounds, an examiner may reject those claims under 35 U.S.C. В§ 103 as obvious over
structurally similar compounds in the prior art. In In re Hass,1the Federal Circuit held that
structural obviousness is a presumption of obviousness. However, this presumption can be
rebutted if the applicant is able to show the property of the claimed compound is different from
the prior art compound. The court held that a prima facie case of obviousness is not made unless
the claimed invention is structurally similar. 2 The Federal Circuit established the Hass Henze test

The Best Employee Motivation Efforts
The best employee motivation efforts will focus on what the employees deem to be important. It
may be that employees within the same department of the same organization will have different
motivators. Many organizations today find that flexibility in job design and reward systems has
resulted in employees increased longevity with the company, improved productivity, and better
morale. According to survey results, USAA may benefit greatly by incorporating the following
recommendations as it relates to increasing employee motivation.
Empowering Employees
Giving employees more responsibility and decision making authority increases their realm of
control over the tasks for which they are held responsible and better equips them to carry out those
tasks. As a result, feelings of frustration arising from being held accountable for something one does
not have the resources to carry out are diminished. (Maroney, 2004).
Creativity and Innovation
When the power to create in the organization is pushed down from the top to line personnel,
employees who know a job, product, or service best are given the opportunity to use their ideas to
improve it. The power to create motivates employees and benefits the organization in having a
more flexible work force, using more wisely the experience of its employees, and increasing the
exchange of ideas and information among employees and departments. (Maroney, 2004).
Advancement Opportunities
Promotions motivate employees by appealing to their

The exit of the United Kingdom from membership of the European Union, is also known as Brexit.
Derived from Britain and Exit.
The United Kingdom held a referendum to decide if they leave the European Economic
Community (EEC) in 1975. This was mainly because in 1963 and 1967 the United Kingdom
applied for membership and was denied because Charles de Gaulle the president of France at
that time dismissed the application because of the fear that English language will dominate the
continent. In 1973 the United Kingdom made a third application and was successful but backed
out in 1973 (2 years Later). The Prime Minster of the United Kingdom David Cameron
announced on 23rd June 2016, a referendum will be held allowing the British people vote on
whether to leave or remain members of the European Union. Majority of Britain voted to leave

The Sociological Perspective
In chapter one of our book it is talking about the sociological perspective. Sociology is defined as
the systematic study of human society. It is explained that sociological perspective is seeing the
common in the specific. Sociologists look for common patterns in the behavior of certain
people. I found it very interesting in chapter one where it states that higher class white men are
more likely to commit suicide than any other population and that between genders; men are more
likely to commit suicide. This is interesting because I would have thought the roles were
reversed. I would have thought that women are more likely to commit suicide because women
are more emotional than men. Later on in the chapter it goes on to talk about how to apply
sociological perspective. It can be applied in three different ways. It can be applied in one s life,
one s work, and in studying sociology. When we apply sociological perspective to our lives we are
more likely to become active and more aware. After applying sociological perspective we begin to
think more critically in our everyday lives. There are three major theoretical approaches. The
structural functional approach is the basic layout for building theory that sees society as a complex
system whose parts work simultaneously to stimulate harmony and strength. The social conflict
approach sees society as a place of inequality that produces struggle and change. Lastly is the
symbolic interaction approach. This approach sees that

of Jesus through a predestined social apocalypse. His focus became one of criticism and active

John Brown Research Paper
Hello Everyone,
John Brown was a revolutionary abolitionist who felt very strongly about ending slavery. He was
born in 1800 and died in 1859. His birthplace was Torrington, Connecticut. He belonged to a very
loving family with very strong anti slavery beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20
children from those unions.
Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He began working
as a conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support the abolitionist cause. He also
started the League of Gileadites, which was organized to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He
later moved to a free black farming community in New York.
In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown
accompanied by a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the Pottawatomie
Creek and brutally murdered five men and boys whom they believed were promoting slavery. Later

Japanese American Internment Analysis When Franklin Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 on
February 19, 1942,1 thousands of Japanese American families were relocated to internment camps
in an attempt to suppress supposed espionage and sabotage attempts on the part of the Japanese
government. Not only was this relocation based on false premises and shaky evidence, but it also
violated the rights of Japanese Americans through processes of institutional racism that were

After the restriction from the West coast exclusion zones took effect, Japanese families were
moved to assembly centers and subsequently to interment or relocation camps. Many lived in
assembly centers for months while waiting to be moved, having to deal with a poorly equipped
community and crowded living situations. This is further described by Daniels. The arrival at the
assembly centers was particularly traumatic...Most, if not all, of the sites were overcrowded and not
really prepared for human habitation. Toilet and bathing facilities were minimal. (Pg. 65)8 Various
illustrations of these poor housing situations can be seen in a yearbook made to remember the
community of the Fresno Assembly Center. (Pgs. 1 3)9 Not only did these conditions put Japanese
Americans through a lower standard of living, but they also created distress resulting from multiple
resettlements, as many had to be moved to internment camps as soon as they were getting used to
life in the assembly centers. The emotions stemming from constant relocation can be seen within
the same yearbook, in which the author states, ...we have experienced our primary trials and

Essay on Julius Caesar
1. Early life Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 100 B.C. Though he was a descendent of the
oldest patrician family, Julius Caesar grew up in a very poor district of Rome called Subura. As a
child, he studied martial arts, history, and law ( Julius Caesar ). At the age of seventeen, Julius
married Cornelia, the daughter of Luciussulla, who was a dictator of Rome. Because Luciussulla
did not approve of the marriage, he tried to force the two to divorce, but they both refused. Julius
Caesarstudied philosophy and oratory in Greece. Soon after returning to Rome, Cornelia became
pregnant. Named after her father, the baby s name was Julia. Cornelia died in 68 B.C., leaving
Caesar to care for their daughter (Gruen,12). Still fairly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Senate had originally refused to give Pompey this land, but because of Caesar they changed
their minds (Combee,95). Also, in 59 B.C., Pompey married Caesar s daughter, Julia
(Gruen,13). Caesar now desired to be governor of Gaul for a five year term. Also a great general,
Caesar spent years conquering Gaul. He became a loyal friend to many of the people there.
While conquering, Caesar became very powerful and very popular. His many conquests
continued and his army grew stronger and stronger (Combee,95). Fortunately, Caesar s
campaigns in Gaul brought great wealth and popularity to Rome. They also brought great
popularity to him ( Julius Caesar ). To many people, Caesar was a hero (Gruen,13). After his
second term as governor in Gaul, the hero returned to Rome. Growing very jealous of Caesar,
Pompey joined his enemies. The Senate persistently tried to disband Caesar s powerful army. He
refused to do this, which caused major friction with the Senate (Combee,95). Then, on January
10, 49 B.C., Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army. This was the start of the Civil War.
Afraid of the more powerful army, Pompey and his army retreated. Though, this was not the end.
Though they knew of his great conquering abilities, the enemies continued to plan the downfall of
Julius Caesar ( Julius Caesar ). As a conquer, Caesar was one of the greatest. He was greatly
honored for many of his victories. In 47 B.C.,

The Impact Of The Civil War On Slavery And The Confederacy
Few historians would disagree that the continuous arguments over the North and the South states
led to the Confederacy. Many historians would agree that slavery did have a positive impact for
the confederate states but it also had its negatives. Slavery isn t something that was really positive
but it did help out the confederate states in many ways especially a demand for agriculture and
business purposes. The events that had an impact on slaveryand the Confederacy directly were the
Civil War. The Civil War was generally a duel to determine the survival of the United States

The Civil War was generally a duel to determine the survival of the United States of America as it
defeated the bid for independence by the breakaway Confederate States of America. The Civil
War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the
power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become
slave states. This event is very crucial in regards to my research question because it is solely the
biggest event that incorporates the fundamentals of slavery and why it was so important to slave
states and why they wanted to expend slavery throughout the rest of America. It delivers the
audience the knowledge on how slaves were used as a force of labor and work transaction. Also
it exemplifies that later on, the Confederacy weakened giving northern states the victory and
abolishing slavery. The conclusion that I have gained from this research is that slavery has once
helped the Confederate states with manual labor, but soon after the civil war, they re defeat
against the Northern states hindered their ability to be slave holders and their rights as slave
holders were discarded and slavery was

Omaha Tribe Research Paper
The Omaha Tribe was one of the most powerful, successful, and popular tribes of the Great Plain
Indian Tribes. In the Great Plains, the Omaha Tribe settled in current day western Iowa and partly
in northeastern Nebraska. The land on which they lived, had plains covered with grass and rivers
and streams all over the area. The climate of this place consisted of hot summers and cold winters.
They used their areas resources by fishing, hunting, and farming for food. They used the animal
skin to make clothing, blankets, shelter, shoes, and more. The Omahatribe used everything around
them to make what they needed.

United States, but the U.S. didn t pull through and work with the deals Big Elk was offering.
Blackbird was also a very important chief for the Omaha tribe. He commanded many trade routes
used by the British, Spanish, American and French. Blackbird was one of the first chiefs to trade
with white explorers and used the trade as success for the tribe. While Blackbird was alive and

My Narrative Figure Skating
When I was young, I fell in love with competitive figure skating. The ice was my second home,
and every minute I spent on it was pure bliss. By the time I was ten, I had practices four times a
week and several competitions a year. Unfortunately, my path to success did not leave me
unscathed. I had many falls and accidents over the years, and getting back up was almost never
easy. The worst accident occurred when I was first starting to skate. I was four years old, and it
led to my parents almost taking me off of the iceforever. It was a Wednesday. At the time, I only
had practice on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. I had just gotten my own skates so I
wouldn t have to rent them from the rink. They still gave me blisters since they weren t broken in,
but I didn t care about the painwhen I was flying on the ice. I put on my skates and hobbled over
to my teacher. The ice had just been run over by the Zamboni. It shined like a lake of still water.
My instructor, Kelsey, told us all to work on our falls as soon as we got on the ice. I got with my
partner and worked on my falling and getting up. We had been practicing for about five minutes
when I took a bad angle on my way down. My wrists slipped out from under me when I tried to
correct myself and my chin slammed into the ice.
Everything went black for a moment and all I could hear was my own heart. When my vision
started to return, I saw Kelsey standing over me and asking if I was okay. I couldn t move my jaw

2. Provide an example of a government created monopoly. Is it a bad public policy? Why?
In many cases, the emergence of monopolies linked to the provision by the government to an
individual or company exclusive rights to sell the goods (tobacco, salt, etc.).
A classic example of a monopoly that arises due to the possession of a resource, such as a diamond
company.
The power of a government created monopoly over the market depends on the existence of close
substitute products. If people view emeralds, rubies and sapphires as quite worthy substitutes
diamonds over the market power of a relatively limited. In this case, any attempt to achieve

Thus, the classical problem of maximizing profit is transformed into the problem of maximizing
profit, taking into account the expected actions of competitors.
The subject s behavior in a situation where a decision on further action presupposes possible
retaliatory actions by other market entities is called strategic behavior. Such behavior is studying
the theory of games (game theory). This branch of mathematics is designed for analysis of
equilibrium and possible strategies for the participants in the game situations, that means when the
decision of one party affect the position of others. Game theory helps us understand oligopoly and
other situations where players interact and behave strategically.
The simplest case the game is a game between two players with two possible outcomes and
simultaneous moves, called prisoner s dilemma .
The essence of the game is as follows: Police caught two criminals accused of committing a crime,
and conducts the questioning of each of them in different rooms. Criminals do not have the ability
to communicate. The police want to be recognized for each of the perpetrators of a crime. Each of
the criminals has two options indications: to confess to a crime or not to confess.
If both the perpetrator confessed to the crime, then each receives 2 years in prison.
If both do not admit of the criminal, the fully blocked fault is difficult to prove and each receives

  • 2. Analyzing Multiple Perspectives From an early age I have been passionate about reading. Like seriously, when I was five years old I was upset that I didn t get the newest Little Mermaid book for Christmas. However, I have never had an interest in writing. Unfortunately, as I plan to go to graduate school to obtain my Ph.D, I really cannot avoid it. Over the years, my lack of enthusiasm about writinghas caused me to view most English classes as a chore, something I needed to do in order to advance to what I really wanted to do with my life. With the risk of sounding like a suck up, this is one of the first English classes I have valued because I have felt like I improved some aspect of my writing in each essay. One of the biggest take aways I have had is how to write a proper conclusion. This can best be seen in the changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My first semester I had to write a literature review which was a similar process to this paper. Unfortunately, I really had no idea how to write one and spent a ton of unnecessary time finding articles and then trying to remember what they were on. This was my first time doing an annotated bibliography and it helped me tremendously. Through the annotated bibliography, I learned how to properly organize my research. I think this is evident in how strong my introduction is. Although my annotated bibliographies will probably not be as detailed if I am not turning them in for a grade, I will most likely utilize them in other classes to provide a direction for my research and save time in the long ... • 3. Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality to fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right. With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and broken, including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the highest recorded speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh set off from New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully complete the journey. Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved, Charles A Lindbergh embodied the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did. Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles Augustus Lindbergh and Evangeline Lodge Land. His family was from Minnesota, where he grew up. As a child, he frequently visited his father in Washington, D.C., as his father served in the U.S. Congress. But even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Legend Of Alice Monologue It was an immaculate wedding, white roses adorning the hedges and everyone dressed in lightly coloured dresses and suits. Alice, a nineteen year old bridesmaid, attending the wedding as her auntie was getting married, was in a pale blue dress and had light curly blonde hair. She didn t want to be there, but she was forced by her Auntie. Her Auntie Paige loved the colour red and didn t love anything else (she was only marrying for the money), she was so infuriated that there were only white roses that she ended up destroying the delicate gold and white cake. Alice then began to sneak out, and explore the intricate hedge maze as she wanted to leave the unfortunate wedding. As she walked along she smelt the freshly picked white roses and felt the glistening sun on her, she loved the feeling of being alone; being isolated from everyone, she didn t want to be like everyone else and end up getting married, settle down and have kids, she wanted to explore and adventure around the world. Suddenly, Alice spotted a peculiar creature that hopped along in the distance; it had tall ears, lightly coloured fur and was quite small, it was holding an interesting device that looked like a compass crossed with a clock. Women in Afghanistan have been subject to heinous circumstances, even though their religion, Islam demanded that men and women be equal before God, (Qazi). If a woman displayed herself in a sexy manner, as Sanaubar did, she would be considered dishonorable (8). If an unwed woman held a conversation with a man, she would be seen as a lochak (146), or in other words a brazen girl. The honor of a girl mattered so much because virtuous girls brought in respectable suitable suitors (148), and one of the most important things an Afghani girl needed was a husband. This cultural belief gave men an overbearing advantage once they married. The men essentially controlled how their wives lived their lives. The prime example in this case would be General Taheri, who had many opinions on how women should behave. The General forbade his wife to sing in public because he thought it was a job for people with lesser reputations (177), he didn t approve of women drinking alcohol, (183), and was constantly worried about the public perception of his family. Baba, to some extent also represented these views. He talked about losing ones honor in a very somber manner, and believed that a man s honor rested in the chastity of a wife. Or a daughter. • 8. The Theory Of Economic Change Introduction Change is often seen as a destabilizing element, but it is necessary for a company to change since it enables to adapt to the environment and its evolutions. But before applying any change, the company needs to strategically reflect on the change management and implement a management team that will be able to support the contributors in order to anticipate and then fight the resistance to change. The theory of economic change (R. Nelson and S. Winter, 1982) highlights the ability for a company to adapt to environmental evolutions thanks to its learning capacity. The change management means the entire process that goes from the perception of an organizational problem in defining a framework of actions that enables the development, selection and implementation of a solution under optimal conditions for success. Different types propose a classification of the different changes that can take place within a company. Among these include a classification that examines the areas of change: economic, legal, social, technological, ecological, cultural, political, organizational, and strategic while another studied the change according to its characteristics: global or partial, slow or fast, marginal or major. Similarly, according to that change is marginal or major; it is possible to distinguish different degrees of changes: the setting, the reform, restructuring or even the rebuilding. While the adjustment and reform are conventionally managed by the company in its daily operations, restructuring and rebuilding, for their part, are true organizational change. Both types of change lead to a real transformation of the processes at work in the company and a real cultural revolution. These changes, by their propensity to generate resistance, must be subject to special management. Change can also be studied, according to the behaviour adopted: led directed, spontaneous or planned (typology of H. Mintzberg). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between one another, clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead: the basketball. A game of strategy and high demands, basketball calls on both the body and the mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It calls on your body in many ways that will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally, the game will demand a high intelligence and acumen from the mind when making split second decisions. Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally; furthermore, this training can then be applied onto the basketball court to help increase the physical and mental attributes of a player. Being well equipped physically for basketball provides many advantages when you apply it correctly. Basketball is a unique sport that contains non stop movement in every moment. The objective is simple: score more points than the other team. This is accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines for fluid motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this consistent activity can be extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of basketball the gameplay is live until the ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul, timeout called, or the end of a quarter. • 15. Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid representation of death and its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the earth welcoming the speaker back into the realm of nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth and when we die, our bodies return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful image of what death is composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and disturbing. When individuals are presented with the thought of death, they often push this thought away out of fear and ignorance. Everyone will die someday whether we ignore the thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a relaxing and welcoming image for the reader on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver is still alive, she doesn t know what death feels like. However, the way she describes death, I hope that it feels like sleeping in a forest; full of stars and enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by the earth welcoming the speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so tenderly. This statement exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the earth is being portrayed as a woman. This is significant because women are often portrayed as being nurturing and caring. For the reader, this can trigger memories or ideas of who the reader would picture the earth as. One of those ways was when Boo started putting stuff in the tree for Scout and Jem(Lee 44). This is important because it gives Scout and Jem the idea that Boo is actually kind and that he wants to be friends. The reason he put stuff in the tree is because he wanted people to think that he is kind to children. All of the stuff that Boo put in the tree is friendly stuff that kids might want or like to play with. Another example of this was when Boo found Jem s pants. Boo cleaned them, folded them, and put them back on the fence. (Lee 71). But, is it true that if a baby is born preterm then they are destined to be autistic? In order to answer that question, we must first be educated on preterm infants as well as the disorder of Autism. Not many people are educated on what Autism is and even less are educated on the health and well being of premature babies. The purpose for this research is to shed some light on both autism and premature birth as well as justify if there is any connection between preterm birthand autism. When one thinks of a baby born prematurely many imagine a tiny one pound baby barely able to live even with all the ventilators and machines hooked up to it. They imagine a baby that will be under weight and unable to leave the hospital for many months to come. Few will know the risk factors that come along with being preterm, and even less will know that preterm babies are just as capable of living healthy and normal lives. • 22. Biblical And Mythological Allusions Of Moby Dick Moby Dick is Herman Melville s masterpiece, a purposeful novel that acts both as a documentary of a sea voyage but also a philosophical allusion on life as a whole. Moby Dick is far beyond its time in reference to its use of allusion within its text. In this novel, Herman Melville frequently uses biblical and mythological allusions. With these strategic allusions, the reader is able to begin to understand the topics of discussion within the book and is also exposed to the wisdom and potential knowledge Melville possesses. Melville uses many Biblical and mythological references in the form of character stories, which I found beneficial in helping interpret the texts meaning (Howard, 27). This paper will discuss the Biblical and Mythological allusions that Melville s use in Moby Dickin the hopes to develop a deeper understanding of the issues Melville was hoping to address. An Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a well known person, place, thing, cultural, historical, or literary work (Delahunty, 24). As Described by Andrew Delahunty in the Oxford Dictionary of Reference and Allusion, allusions form a colorful extension to the English language, drawing on our collective knowledge of literature, mythology, and the Bible to help us connect and interpret literature (26). Though an allusion is used to reference something significant, it does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it is referring too. • 23. The Question Of Antibiotic Resistance Introduction The question of antibiotic resistance is a growing phenomenon in contemporary society and modern medicine; it pertains to pathogenic organisms and is one of the most eminent issues of public health in the twenty first century. Though resistant genes are ancient, its increasing prevalence poses a threat. It demands a greater need for antibiotic therapies. New resistance mechanisms may spread globally and limit our ability to treat disease and lead to a giant hole in the pillars of modern medicine. The immense increase in antibiotic resistancecan be attributed to many factors. Along with spontaneous gene mutation, natural selection, and cell to cell gene transfer, humans play a huge part in the worsening of the epidemic. The Union of Concerned Scientists estimated in 2001 that more that seventy percent of the antibiotics used in the United States are given to food animals without disease to increase growth and decrease probability of mortality; medicine is used ensure and maximize profit. The misuse of antibiotics leads to an increase in resistance in that it exposes bacteriato antibiotics when this exposure is not necessary. Additionally, culturally ingrained practices of using antibiotics sans prescription, sharing antibiotics with others, and over prescription and dispensing antibiotics either incorrectly or needlessly due to the commercialization of medicine in combination with patients exaggeration of disease symptoms all contribute to the excessive use ... • 33. The Sociological Perspective In chapter one of our book it is talking about the sociological perspective. Sociology is defined as the systematic study of human society. It is explained that sociological perspective is seeing the common in the specific. Sociologists look for common patterns in the behavior of certain people. I found it very interesting in chapter one where it states that higher class white men are more likely to commit suicide than any other population and that between genders; men are more likely to commit suicide. This is interesting because I would have thought the roles were reversed. I would have thought that women are more likely to commit suicide because women are more emotional than men. Later on in the chapter it goes on to talk about how to apply sociological perspective. It can be applied in three different ways. It can be applied in one s life, one s work, and in studying sociology. When we apply sociological perspective to our lives we are more likely to become active and more aware. After applying sociological perspective we begin to think more critically in our everyday lives. There are three major theoretical approaches. The structural functional approach is the basic layout for building theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work simultaneously to stimulate harmony and strength. The social conflict approach sees society as a place of inequality that produces struggle and change. Lastly is the symbolic interaction approach. This approach sees that ... After his second term as governor in Gaul, the hero returned to Rome. Growing very jealous of Caesar, Pompey joined his enemies. The Senate persistently tried to disband Caesar s powerful army. He refused to do this, which caused major friction with the Senate (Combee,95). Then, on January 10, 49 B.C., Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army. This was the start of the Civil War. • 45. The Impact Of The Civil War On Slavery And The Confederacy Few historians would disagree that the continuous arguments over the North and the South states led to the Confederacy. Many historians would agree that slavery did have a positive impact for the confederate states but it also had its negatives. The Civil War was generally a duel to determine the survival of the United States of America as it defeated the bid for independence by the breakaway Confederate States of America. The Civil War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become slave states. This event is very crucial in regards to my research question because it is solely the biggest event that incorporates the fundamentals of slavery and why it was so important to slave states and why they wanted to expend slavery throughout the rest of America. It delivers the audience the knowledge on how slaves were used as a force of labor and work transaction. Also it exemplifies that later on, the Confederacy weakened giving northern states the victory and abolishing slavery. The conclusion that I have gained from this research is that slavery has once helped the Confederate states with manual labor, but soon after the civil war, they re defeat against the Northern states hindered their ability to be slave holders and their rights as slave holders were discarded and slavery was ... • 47. My Narrative Figure Skating When I was young, I fell in love with competitive figure skating. The ice was my second home, and every minute I spent on it was pure bliss. By the time I was ten, I had practices four times a week and several competitions a year. Unfortunately, my path to success did not leave me unscathed. I had many falls and accidents over the years, and getting back up was almost never easy. The worst accident occurred when I was first starting to skate. I was four years old, and it led to my parents almost taking me off of the iceforever. It was a Wednesday. At the time, I only had practice on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. I had just gotten my own skates so I wouldn t have to rent them from the rink. They still gave me blisters since they weren t broken in, but I didn t care about the painwhen I was flying on the ice. I put on my skates and hobbled over to my teacher. The ice had just been run over by the Zamboni. It shined like a lake of still water. My instructor, Kelsey, told us all to work on our falls as soon as we got on the ice. I got with my partner and worked on my falling and getting up. We had been practicing for about five minutes when I took a bad angle on my way down. My wrists slipped out from under me when I tried to correct myself and my chin slammed into the ice. Everything went black for a moment and all I could hear was my own heart. When my vision started to return, I saw Kelsey standing over me and asking if I was okay. I couldn t move my jaw without a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The subject s behavior in a situation where a decision on further action presupposes possible retaliatory actions by other market entities is called strategic behavior. This branch of mathematics is designed for analysis of equilibrium and possible strategies for the participants in the game situations, that means when the decision of one party affect the position of others. Game theory helps us understand oligopoly and other situations where players interact and behave strategically. The simplest case the game is a game between two players with two possible outcomes and simultaneous moves, called prisoner s dilemma . The essence of the game is as follows: Police caught two criminals accused of committing a crime, and conducts the questioning of each of them in different rooms. Criminals do not have the ability to communicate. The police want to be recognized for each of the perpetrators of a crime.
