To ensure pastors understand the changing shape and scope of church giving in local church ministry. Most pastors are so close to the situation that it's difficult for them to pause, recognize the changes, and mark the shift in the assumptions and behavior of the person in the pew. My hope is that by highlighting these realities and providing a plan of action, we can ensure the money God intended to fund the work of the church doesn't end up funding someone else's budget.
The first year public relations students at Cape Peninsula University of Technology were assigned to organize a farewell event for third year students as a class project, which would count significantly towards their semester grade. They had to plan and fund the event without a budget, so spent three months raising funds. Through their efforts, they were able to successfully hold the third year farewell function without a budget, as evidenced by the photos of the decorated event space, photo booth, gift bags, and tables.
The document summarizes the author's experience staying in unusual low-cost accommodations and using alternative transportation during the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. The author enjoyed staying in the Tiny Pink Mansion, a trailer and shack rental, and renting a bike from their neighbor Eric Luckett. The bike allowed the author to easily navigate Austin and have lunch almost daily at the colorful and diverse food trucks, meeting new people and experiencing the welcoming culture.
The document describes a new initiative called Sponsor A Volunteer Engagement Program (SAVE) launched by AIESEC in USM. SAVE aims to help NGOs gain access to AIESEC's global talent pool of volunteers and help companies run corporate social responsibility programs. It will do this by having development trainees from AIESEC work with selected NGOs, with their placements sponsored by companies. This benefits both NGOs, who can receive volunteers at no cost, and companies, who can participate in CSR without developing new programs themselves. The key aspects of SAVE are described, including how NGOs and companies can become involved as volunteer engagers and sponsors.
The document discusses extreme weather events. Climate change is causing more frequent and intense hurricanes, wildfires, droughts and heat waves across the United States and around the world. Scientists agree that these extreme weather events are intensified by human-caused global warming.
The document lists various curiosities about the human body, including that food takes 7 seconds to travel from the mouth to the stomach, a human hair can support 3 kg in weight, and the average man's penis is three times the size of his thumb. It also notes that the hip bone is more solid than cement, a woman's heart beats faster than a man's, and women blink twice as often as men. The skin weighs twice as much as the brain, and the body uses 300 muscles for balance when standing.

Social Media Strategy Summer 09 Sda MeetingBen Stroup
The president of the Southern Baptist Stewardship Development Association asked me to present to the entire group on how to use social media to multiply ministry opportunity. I offered some general social media principles as a primer and then explained how I'm using social media related to helping churches fund their ministry.
The document summarizes the results of a survey on social media use among Louisiana Baptist pastors and churches. It then outlines a two-part presentation on using social media in ministry: the first part defines social media and its key aspects, and the second part provides guidance on developing a social media strategy and managing time spent on social media platforms.
The survey found most pastors use social media to communicate, with Facebook being the most popular platform. Participants wanted to learn about effectiveness, tools, time management and sharing best practices. The presentation defines social media and common platforms and tools, and gives principles for crafting a strategy and guidelines for online conduct.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
By highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of integrating AI with XML development tools and languages, the presentation seeks to inspire thoughtful conversation around the future of XML development. We’ll not only delve into the technical aspects of AI-powered XML development but also discuss practical implications and possible future directions.
