To ensure pastors understand the changing shape and scope of church giving in local church ministry. Most pastors are so close to the situation that it's difficult for them to pause, recognize the changes, and mark the shift in the assumptions and behavior of the person in the pew. My hope is that by highlighting these realities and providing a plan of action, we can ensure the money God intended to fund the work of the church doesn't end up funding someone else's budget.
Protecting The Flock: Church Fraud Prevention and Education_June 2021 OverviewBradleyHaackeMBA
Protecting the Flock is a resource for church leaders and Christians to use to identify and respond to fraud. With fast moving changes to technology and payment methods, those committing financial and cyber crime have more at their fingertips to steal from others, including the Christian church and its members. Developing a defense against this crime is good stewardship and can help congregations to thrive.

Hope Children's Home Receives $10,000 Donation from Mormon CommunityHope Children's Home
A Christian nonprofit organization based in northwest Tampa, Florida, Hope Children's Home (hopechildrenshome.org) serves the educational and spiritual needs of children who come from a background of neglect and abuse. With the mission of helping children in desperate situations, Hope Children's Home was gratified to receive a donation of $10,000 in May 2020 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS).
This gift was bestowed by the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' Brandon, Florida, stake, which had the task of identifying an organization that had been impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and could use an infusion of capital to continue its inspiring work. Due to the economic fallout of the pandemic, the donation was greatly appreciated.
As the LDS leader described it, Hope has the mission of transforming lives in positive ways, as well as a broader social mandate that makes it a worthy recipient. Presented with this sizable contribution, the organization’s executive director, Dr. Mike Higgins, placed thanks in God’s miracles for ensuring that faith and good deeds are rewarded. He noted that his organization does not accept funds from state or federal agencies, which makes private contributions all the more meaningful.
What would you do differently if you knew your church was worth $1 million to your neighborhood? A recent study reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer crunches the numbers.

Protecting the Flock is an educational resource for church leaders and Christians to use to identify and respond to fraud. With fast moving changes to technology and payment methods, those committing financial and cyber crime have more at their fingertips to steal from others, including the Christian church and its members. Developing an understanding and defense against this crime is good stewardship and can help congregations to thrive.
The practical applications of Protecting the Flock will emphasize:
1)Decreasing the likelihood and severity of an internal fraud attack
2)Establishing an internal fraud response framework
3)Implementing safeguards to deter external fraud threats
4)Understanding and responding to congregational fraud risks (general fraud, scams, targeted youths, elder abuse)
5)Establishing fraud risk governance that can be passed to future Christian leaders (relevant to the size and scope of the organization)
This is a subject that should not be ignored within the church. Both leaders and members have an obligation to prevent criminal activity and financial loss from occurring to the church and its people. Protecting the Flock can help!

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
2. People no longer give to the
church simply because it is
the church. The church must
prove it is worthy of
donations through the mark it
leaves on the world.

3. Americans spent nearly twice as
much on first-day sales of the
video game “Grand Theft Auto

would need to share the Gospel

4. Charitable donations as
measured by per capita giving
of disposable income has
remained the same since
1967 – 2.5%.

6. More than $500 million was
raised for Haiti in three weeks.
The number continues to rise.

7. At least one out of five

organization that exists
through the donations of

19. Churches have an advantage
over every other nonprofit:
weekly interaction with

20. Churches are the WORST at
capturing the dollar and fail
to consistently provide a
“call to action.”
21. If churches continue to be
silent, the giving levels
needed to operate this
complex organization
will not exist.
22. Giving is an outward sign of an
inward commitment.
Measuring giving is one way
to measure the health of your
church and your membership.
23. Church giving is connected to
your ministry plan. People
want to support a cause or
organization that
accomplishes something they
can’t do on their own.
24. The more we remain silent
with respect to the subject of
money in the church, the
more likely someone else’s
budget will be funded.
