To ensure pastors understand the changing shape and scope of church giving in local church ministry. Most pastors are so close to the situation that it's difficult for them to pause, recognize the changes, and mark the shift in the assumptions and behavior of the person in the pew. My hope is that by highlighting these realities and providing a plan of action, we can ensure the money God intended to fund the work of the church doesn't end up funding someone else's budget.

Protecting The Flock: Church Fraud Prevention and Education_June 2021 OverviewBradleyHaackeMBA
Protecting the Flock is a resource for church leaders and Christians to use to identify and respond to fraud. With fast moving changes to technology and payment methods, those committing financial and cyber crime have more at their fingertips to steal from others, including the Christian church and its members. Developing a defense against this crime is good stewardship and can help congregations to thrive.
Presentation given to a group of African-American Pastors at LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville, TN about the changing landscape of church giving.
Sarah's Circle provides services and housing for homeless women in Chicago. The research team contacted hotels, religious organizations, and other potential partners to create donations and partnerships that could benefit clients. Most contacts did not result in partnerships due to lack of resources or existing commitments. The findings suggest reaching out earlier, targeting larger companies' local efforts, and pursuing additional grant opportunities. Recommendations include contacting Whole Foods’ donation programs and implementing new physical and educational wellness programs for clients.
The document discusses a research project conducted by Sarah's Circle to help address homelessness among women. It provides background on the issue, noting that women are the fastest growing group of homeless individuals. The group contacted various organizations like hotels and religious groups to create partnerships and obtain donations. Their findings showed that obtaining donations was more difficult than expected. They learned the importance of early outreach and tailored requests. Suggestions for further research include potential partnerships with Whole Foods and implementing additional educational and physical wellness programs for clients.
What would you do differently if you knew your church was worth $1 million to your neighborhood? A recent study reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer crunches the numbers.

It defines divorce and explores factors that can lead men to divorce like adultery, financial difficulties, and addiction. Divorce impacts men through anger, loss of self-esteem and trust issues. It impacts children through aggression and academic problems. For the church, divorce can lead 50% of divorced individuals to leave the church due to feeling embarrassment from members. The pastor's role is to listen, ensure safety, assess counseling needs, and refer to professionals when needed.
Giving to religion a changing landscapeSheldon Bryan
Giving to religious organizations as a percentage of total charitable donations has declined since 1970, dropping from 44.4% to 32% between 1970 and 2011. This is partly due to declining church membership and attendance, especially among young adults. However, those who do attend religious services regularly are more likely to donate to both religious and secular causes than those who do not attend. Religious organizations can improve charitable giving by focusing more on stewardship education through sermons and classes, utilizing modern donation technologies, increasing financial transparency, and shifting their paradigm to focus more on cultivating donors.

Americans donated $51.5 billion to the top 10 charities in 2019, representing over 12% of all charitable giving that year. It is important for donors to research charities to see how efficiently they are run and how donations are used. Well-rated charities like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Salvation Army are among Americans' favorite charities. St. Jude provides free medical care to children with over 91/100 rating on Charity Navigator. The Salvation Army received $2 billion in private donations to fund services including thrift stores, homeless outreach, and disaster relief. The YMCA also received over $1 billion to support affordable youth programs and community wellness initiatives.

Pop quiz: Raise your hand if you get paid to engage the community’s hearts, minds, and resources to advance your nonprofit’s mission and make the world a better place.
Your hand is just as high whether you’re a fund development or a volunteer engagement professional. So why are our jobs so siloed? Better yet: What might happen if we tiptoed out of our siloes and planted a flag in the big, overlooked crossroads between our two worlds?
A whole lot of good, say trend-watchers and data crunchers in both industries. They also say we might not have a choice. Current trends in how Americans give time and money are quickly eroding the wall between our two worlds – whether we like it or not.
In this presentation we’ll dig deeper into two of those trends and see how you can turn them into opportunities for good. This presentation was part of a breakout session during GRAVA’s 2015 Annual Conference: “Volunteer Management Trends Transforming the Profession” (July 9, 2015).

1)Decreasing the likelihood and severity of an internal fraud attack
2)Establishing an internal fraud response framework
3)Implementing safeguards to deter external fraud threats
4)Understanding and responding to congregational fraud risks (general fraud, scams, targeted youths, elder abuse)
5)Establishing fraud risk governance that can be passed to future Christian leaders (relevant to the size and scope of the organization)
This is a subject that should not be ignored within the church. Both leaders and members have an obligation to prevent criminal activity and financial loss from occurring to the church and its people. Protecting the Flock can help!

- Most nonprofits rely on volunteers, and people who are actively religious are more likely to volunteer for both religious and secular organizations.
- Over 80% of nonprofits use volunteers, and about a third partner with religious organizations. These organizations report greater benefits from volunteers.
- Faith motivates people to volunteer through a desire to care for others, seek justice, strengthen their faith through service, and for some traditions, share their faith. Understanding faith motivations can help nonprofits better engage volunteers.

The document discusses the week of the passion in Christianity. It provides the hymn "All Glory, Laud and Honor" with lyrics praising Jesus. It then includes several prayers for the church, pastors, nations, sick/suffering, faithfulness, generosity, and general requests in Jesus' name during the week commemorating Jesus' suffering and death.
This document provides a six-step framework for expository preaching based on the biblical passage of Luke 2:39-40. The steps include: 1) rewriting the passage to show its structure, 2) identifying the overall subject, 3) analyzing who is doing what in the passage, 4) determining what this tells about the overall subject, and 5) identifying the "heart-beat" or main point. As an example, applying these steps to Luke 2:39-40 reveals that the overall subject is the family of Jesus, who lived according to God's law and put his concerns first, and as a result received God's blessing.

An expository sermon is structured around a scriptural text that is thoroughly examined through exegesis. The sermon's goal is to explain, illustrate and apply the truth of God in a way that God's voice is heard, glory seen and will obeyed. Expository preaching is advantageous as it delivers God's intended message through scriptural authority, magnifies his word, and ensures high Bible knowledge for the congregation. It encourages biblical thinking and living while handling difficult texts. The steps in developing an expository sermon include praying for power, the spirit and conviction, then selecting the next text or section to preach on.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like depression and anxiety.
This document summarizes key amendments to the US Constitution. It outlines the 1st Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, speech, and press. The 2nd Amendment establishes the right to bear arms. The 4th Amendment protects against unreasonable search and seizure. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude following the Civil War. The 15th Amendment gave African American men the right to vote by declaring that the right of citizens to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
The document provides information about transportation options and costs for traveling between Baena and Malaga in Spain. A direct bus leaves Baena at 7:45am and arrives in Malaga at 11:30am for €25.61, while an alternative bus making stops arrives in Malaga at 1:45pm for €21.30. Renting a car is recommended as the most flexible option, with a Toyota Yaris available for €15.52 per day plus €93.10 fee. The rental car would be collected on October 21st in Dublin and returned on the 27th.
The document proposes using a Facebook application called LilliGift to generate philanthropic capital for microfinancing initiatives that provide small loans to the working poor. The application would allow users to send "LilliGifts" to friends on their birthdays, which would provide a loan to someone in need. When the loan is repaid, the friend would receive a gift card of equal value. This would harness social networks to recruit lenders and generate revenue from the gift cards to fund more loans while creating awareness of microfinancing.

This document discusses recycling and which materials are easier to recycle than others. It has students divide into groups to create a poster labeling materials as recyclable or non-recyclable. The groups then present their posters and discuss why each item falls into those categories. Some key points made are that plastics and papers are often recyclable if composed of a single material, while items with multiple materials or that require disassembly to recycle are more difficult to recycle. Batteries in particular are discussed as recyclable but requiring taking apart.
Denny Wright, Stewardship and Cooperative Program Director for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention invited me to tour the State with him in the Spring of 2009. The first session is about sustainable funding, and the second session is about online giving.
The document outlines a 5-step process for pastors to fund sustainable church ministries: 1) Establish a systematic giving strategy and be honest about tithing. 2) Start regularly talking about donations from the pulpit. 3) Set clear expectations for member contributions. 4) Directly ask members for donations using various tools. 5) Report donation results to members and get their input on spending. The overall goal is to transform stewardship into a strategic church ministry that fully funds operations through increased, sustainable member giving.
A collection of tips, advice and success strategies from leading industry influencers and pastors to help you leverage the power of the pulpit in motivating members to become more generous with financial support and volunteer hours.
This document summarizes a presentation on church stewardship given by J. Clif Christopher. Some key points include:
- Churches must understand they compete for charitable dollars with other non-profits and only receive 2% of donations. Successful churches focus on their mission and sharing stories of how lives are changed.
- Presbyterians on average give $727 annually to their congregation, comprising 53.9% of their $1,300 in total annual charitable giving.
- Budgets should be presented narratively focused on mission rather than line-items. Leadership must model giving and share their personal stories. Regular stewardship messaging is important to cultivate a culture of generosity.
The document discusses how the Church Building & Loan Fund (CB&LF) assists congregations in building, renovating or refinancing church buildings to further their missions. It emphasizes deploying assets for tangible mission impact, such as operating dynamic ministries. The CB&LF seeks to reinvent the concept of church through innovative uses of space and partnerships. It encourages congregations to align their missions with deploying all assets, including buildings, land, investments and relationships, for measurable social and spiritual impact.

The document discusses the importance of estate planning and establishing wills, as 7 out of 10 Americans die without a will. It emphasizes that churches need to encourage members to continue giving to the church and its ministries through their estate after death, such as by establishing an endowment trust fund. The church should educate its members on the benefits of planned giving and maintaining a planned giving program to promote leaving enduring gifts to support the church's future ministries.
The document describes a 18-month spiritual pilgrimage program called "Healthy Churches Thrive!" designed to help churches grow spiritually and increase their effectiveness. The program includes developing a vision team, leadership training videos, surveys, an onsite visit, a written report, and follow up coaching. The goal is to help churches strengthen areas like spiritual growth, outreach, stewardship, and joy in ministry. The pilgrimage is funded by the vision team who commit to invest each month to cover the program costs.

This document outlines the agenda for a Church Stewardship Summit on growing church giving. The summit will feature several presenters discussing topics such as the state of church giving, common myths about giving, and how church leaders can create a culture of generosity. Steve McSwain will kick off the summit discussing the role of leaders in cultivating a generous congregation. Other presenters will address replacing traditional pledge drives with year-round stewardship and emphasizing generosity over tithing. The full-day event aims to equip church leaders with strategies for increasing congregational giving.
The document discusses strategies for reversing declining attendance in mainline Protestant churches based on research and recommendations from reports. It finds that growing churches focus on clarifying their mission, moving people through small groups and leadership roles, and aligning resources to children's/youth programs. While recommendations call for reform and measuring results, no implementation plan has been forthcoming from church leadership. The document suggests two books outlining effective church strategies focused on clarity, movement, alignment and focus.
This document discusses church discipline and maintaining spiritual health in the church. It begins by explaining that conversion does not guarantee perfect spiritual health, and churches have neglected church discipline, leading to widespread spiritual unhealthiness. It then outlines the biblical process for church discipline according to Matthew 18:15-20. This involves first privately and humbly confronting a brother or sister about their sin, with the goal of restoration. If they do not listen, additional steps such as involving others may be taken. Historically, churches practiced regular discipline, but it has largely been abandoned in recent decades.
The document discusses how churches are dealing with increasing needs for financial assistance from newly unemployed members and community residents due to mass layoffs. It describes one church's approach of evaluating needs on a tiered system and providing limited cash assistance along with counseling and support services. It also highlights a program called Love INC that facilitates partnerships between multiple churches to pool their resources and match those in need with services and aid. This reduces the burden on individual churches while allowing them to work together to help meet growing demands in their communities.
The document describes various statistics related to growth of the Assemblies of God church from 1958 to the present day. Some key points include:
- Membership grew from 20,000 churches and 1.5 million adherents in 1958 to over 300,000 churches and 61 million adherents today.
- Between 2003 and 2008, adherents increased by over 10 million people, a 17.6% growth rate.

How to leverage social media for greater ministry impactBen Stroup
This presentation was given at an event for church leaders hosted by the Louisiana Baptist Convention on March 12. The intent was to define a philosophy and practice for social media that moved it from simply a platform to an effective ministry tool.
The document summarizes the results of a survey on social media use among Louisiana Baptist pastors and churches. It then outlines a two-part presentation on using social media in ministry: the first part defines social media and its key aspects, and the second part provides guidance on developing a social media strategy and managing time spent on social media platforms.
The survey found most pastors use social media to communicate, with Facebook being the most popular platform. Participants wanted to learn about effectiveness, tools, time management and sharing best practices. The presentation defines social media and common platforms and tools, and gives principles for crafting a strategy and guidelines for online conduct.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
