How Far Was The East End Reliable Essay
How reliable and useful are these sources in explaining how difficult life was for the inhabitants of
the East End?
The city of London was a city of surprising sights. The streets were horribly overcrowded slums
where people lived in the worst conditions imaginable. The population rose during the 19th century,
from about 1 million in 1800 to over 6 million a century later. This growth far exceeded London s
ability to look after the basic needs of its citizens. The sanitation was gruesome and was full of
human and animal waste causing lots of infectious diseases such as typhoid and cholera which
spread quickly due to the cramp conditions.
Source 3 tells us that the East End of London was poor and over crowded. Many of the over
populated buildings housed up to thirty families. Some of whom lived directly above cess pits.
From the source it s saying that 55% of children died before they reached the age of five. This
source was written by an historian, speaking for a BBC television documentary. This source is
could not be very reliable because it s not telling us when or where he has found his information
from. It s also a very new documentary as it was only made in the year 2000. I think that this
source is very useful as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women were being treated like rags and they were often led to prostitution after the result of
having no money. When the people of London were kindly given money, they would receive no
thanks. They never showed respect. This source is very reliable as it says that Charles Dickens
often walked through Whitechapel and then went on to use scenes from it in his book. This source
was extracted from an article about Charles dickens which was published in the magazine The
Dickensian in 1905. This source is useful because it explains how the women were treated but on
the other hand it shows how the men were very ungrateful and thought they were better than anyone

IRA Cons
IRA is the stands for an Individual Retirement Account, which is another form of a savings plan.
You can open an IRA through almost any large financial institution, including banks, mutual fund
companies and brokerage firms (Where should I open an IRA). It is a savings account meant for
your retirement. It helps save money for your future so by the time you retire you will have
enough to live off of. There are different types of IRA s to pick and choose from to best fit what
the individual needs along with what they are eligible for as well. The main 3 are Traditional, SEP
(Simplified Employee Pension), and Roth (Internet RetirementAllowance). All of these IRAs have
different requirements and but the one thing they have in common... Show more content on

This IRA is meant for business owners to help contribute toward their employees retirement as
well as their own retirement as well (SEP Plan FAQs). The amount that employers can deposit
into this IRA is up to 15% (Internet Retirement Allowance). The benefits of this IRA are less
responsibility, low fees, tax deferred and tax deductible (Simplified Employee Pension Plans
Pros and Cons). The employee does not have a lot of responsibility because he or she does not
have to put the money into the retirement account on his or her own; the employer does it
directly. While this is helpful to the employee, the employer gets to deduct the contributions that
they make into the fund from their taxes creating an incentive for them (Simplified Employee
Pension Plans Pros and Cons). SEP accounts have reasonable fees; they re not over the top. The
last benefit of a SEP IRA is the money you make in the retirement account from investments is
allowed to grow tax free; you do not have to worry about taxes before you retire (Simplified
Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The disadvantages are contributions and no guarantees
(Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The bad thing about contributions is that
the employee does not get a say on how much they want to deposit into their SEP account; the
employer decides for them. The last thing that is a con is that there could be no requirements for
contributions; they employer can pick and chose when they want to make a contribution to the
employees account (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The SEP IRA is good
for employees who do not want the responsibility for putting money into their retirement account.
It is a risky one since the employee will be depending on the employer to do their part of the
contribution. It is important to make sure you have a good employer if you do decide to choose to
go with the

Lewis s Mere Christianity With Its Complex Themes And...
After reflecting on C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity with its complex themes and wording, I
thought that reading N.T. Wright s Simply Jesus would be an understandable breath of fresh air.
However this book raised more questions in my mind and beliefs than Mere Christianity ever did.
Wright asks a lot of poignant questions in the book in regards to our Lord and Savior JesusChrist,
and in turn triggers even more questions in his readers. He captures the nature of a 21st century
Christian perfectly. Like it or not we are a doubting group who question everything in our society
whether that be politics, relationships, or religion.
While reading Part One of Simply Jesus I had a nagging thought growing in the back of my mind.
With every page I read it became stronger and more prominent until it was a clearly formed
question; why did God not prepare the world for the coming of Christ better? Now of course I
know that there were prophesies and foreshadowing of Christ but my question is not why did
God not say there would be a savior, because He did, but rather why did He not give the people
some more information. Ever since I was a child I have heard over and over again that the
people of Israel did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah was because they were expecting
something else. Even Wright says on page one of Simply Jesus, He was not the King they
expected . I just cannot help but wonder why God never told the people what to expect. How hard
would it have been to tell the

maximum weight of 170,000 lbs. The SR 71 at high speeds and altitudes causes friction to heat
up the metal skin to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The pressure suits that the crew wears are suits that
are the same as astronauts or suits worn to space shuttle missions. The only aircraft that can
catch up close to the SR 71 is the MiG 25 Foxbat and it can only be on Mach 3 up to a few seconds.
To withstand the friction heat at Mach 3, they built the SR 71 s airframe. It is covered in 90
percent of titanium alloy. The Blackbird always runs on JP7 fuel, which is full of low volatility.
They gave the SR 71 many nicknames such as: Habu , SR , Lady in Black , and they mostly knew

insinuations gotten from Prior in their mutual fantastical are dreams. In other words, she wants to
clear her suspicion and determine whether her husband is a closeted homosexual just like Prior and
Louis. Thus her super objective is to determine whether Joe might be having an affair with his
friend Louis since they have been having an unlikely friendship after Joe stumbled into Louis

Nymphal Ticks Case Study
Pathogenesis
Initial infection
Nymphal ticks require at least of 24 hours of attachment in order to build a sufficient bacterial load
(Hildenbrand et al., 2009). Borrelia bacteria remain localised in the area of the bite before
subsequent inflammatory responses cause vasodilation allowing Borrelia to disseminate throughout
the host s body (Pachner Steiner, 2007).
Immune evasion mechanisms
Across the three main strains of Borrelia, on average 8% of coding DNA in their genome is
devoted purely towards synthesizing surface lipoproteins (Pal Fikrig, 2003). This large allocation
and subsequent recombination allows Borrelia change the expression of their outer surface proteins
(Osp) as well as the variable major protein like sequence (vls) almost instantly, preventing the
immune system from developing a specific response (Stewart et al., 2005). An example of this is
OspA, which is extremely immunogenic, is down regulated once tick feeding has begun and then
increased again after Borrelia has infected the nervous system (Fallon et al., 2010). This ability to
change the expression of Osps also allows Borrelia to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

burgdorferi has been shown to have the ability to form cyst like forms, almost entering latency, in
which they can hide from the immune response as well as evade antibiotic treatment (Brorson
Brorson, 1997). In their study, Gruntar et al. (2001) found that Borrelia garinii are particularly
resilient as they can return to its motile state even after freeze then thawing the cysts. Another
theory states that the inflammatory response may cause permanent damage to neurons therefore
causing symptoms of pain, fatigue and malaise months after initial infection (Hildenbrand et al.,

Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 101 is a very controversial bill in perception. When the legislation

Then on March 23rd when the House passed the legislation by a vote of 63 31 there was uproar
of regional per portions. Then when signed into law by Governor Mike Pence on March 26th there
was a national uproar that gave the state a black eye. This legislation has been mischaracterized

Masculinity, By William Faulkner And The Death Of A Man
Masculinity is a common theme in nearly all of Hemingway s works. What makes Indian Camp
unique is that it is about a young boy earning his masculinity, and all in one very eventful night.
This story is about becoming a man so to speak, through enduring and overcoming two very
difficult situations to view: the birth of a child and the death of a man. Barn Burningcovers the same
theme in a darker and more violent way. In William Faulkners story, Sarty s father teaches him to
become a man by teaching him that a man should hold his family s blood above anything and
everything else. The different ways this lesson is taught in these two stories are the key differences
in how the main characters come to grasp the same basic ideal. In Indian Camp, the protagonist,
Nick, is put face to face with uncomfortable scenarios and finally is forced to endure and triumph
over these challenges, whereas Sarty does essentially the same thing, but instead of accepting the
standards put before him, he overthrows them and accepts what he believes masculinity should be.
During the time of writing Indian Camp, masculinity may have been intertwined with the notion
that white men were the dominant people of the time. This can be taken from when Nick asks his
father if there is anything that can be given to the Indian woman in labor in order to make her quit
screaming, to which Nick s father replies her screams are not important. I don t hear them because
they are not important (Hemingway, 16).

Racial And Ethnic Hierarchy By The K 1 Visa Holders
According to the racial and ethnic hierarchy, the K 1 visa holders are inferior to these shameful
Americans. Due to the US characters ignominy, the foreigners are added another layer of
symbolic meanings in conjunction with their foreignness comprised of race and ethnicity. The
foreigners can potentially transform their characters from an infantilized alien who does not
speak English to a threat to the US who betrays their gullible American partners who brought
them to the US from the uncivilized country. That the mail order brides (or grooms) might
manipulate and betray the inculpable Americans for US citizenship is well acknowledged by the
show participants themselves. To avoid this stigma, the foreigners and the American characters
as well resist to be referred as the mail order bride/marriage and explicitly claim their genuine
love to each other. On the third episode in season one, in the conversation about intention of Aziza
(his fiancГ©e from Russia) between him and his father, the US character, Mike says Aziza is not
mail order bride. She is coming here because she loves me , whose type is frequently found in
every cast in the show. Strategically the show utilizes the stigma of MOB as an instrument to add
dramatic effects upon a premise about inferiority in the foreign casts. On the contrary to their
arguments that they are not interested in green card, but seeking love, portrayals of their behaviors
indicating their unculture plant a seed of doubt in their claims,

The Importance Of Cleaning The USPS Fort Worth
Often a refresh is the first step in advocating for a building s potential. Cleaning a building shows
people that you care, said Sarah Holder. Both the actual and perceived value of the building is
raised. Hidden gems are exposed, as the architecture s best assets are revealed in a better light.
And, significantly, it is the exterior that is the first to impress, the first to send the message that a
property is worth the investment. Holder attributes this heightened perceived value as a the positive
impact of a clean, smiling face.

Wildfire Pollution
An estimated 212 million people in the United States live in an area affected by wildfire
pollution (Knowlton, 2013); a number that, due to global climate change, will only continue to
rise (Westerling et al., 2006; Settele et al., 2014). The effects of exposure to wildfire smoke on
human health are hard to quantify because the long term effects often go unnoticed. One
estimate for global premature death rate due to exposure of wildfire smoke is 399,000 persons
annually (Johnston et al., 2012). There are many serious health risks associated with exposure to
wildfire smoke, many of which remain poorly understood. A 2016 systematic review entitled
Critical Review of Health Impacts of Wildfire Smoke Exposure compiled information from
multiple studies examining the health effects of exposure to wildfire smoke. The study reviewed
every reference found within its search parameters over three databases, selecting for papers
without potential biases including small sample size and unreliable smoke exposure assessment
methods (Reid et al., 2016). The results of the remaining 103 studies were them compiled and
compared to assess for the consistency of their findings (Reid et al., 2016). The study found that
smoke from wildfires contains toxins such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, volatile
organic compounds, and particulate matter (PM) (Naeher et al. 2007). Particulate matter, also
known as particle pollution, can be expressed as the sum of all solid particles and

Cultural Heritage Of The French Tourism
Tourism in France is an important activity, both for the French who choose to spend their holidays,
and foreigners who come to stay. Thus, since 1990, France became the first tourist destination in the
world. The tourist attraction of France is due to the large number and wide variety of points of
interest, diversity of landscapes, the rich cultural and artistic heritage, the temperate climate and
ease of access and transport infrastructure, but also the important equipment in the country and
varied reception facilities (hotels, amusement parks...). Thus, each department is a French tourist
department with several points of interest. France has a rich well known cultural heritage, favored
by many sites listed as World Heritage of UNESCO. The French tourismhas many different facets
and positive economic impacts and France makes every effort to maintain the liveliness of this
important asset. The history of tourism in France began around 1760 in the south of France in
Hyeres, becoming a common winter resort renowned among UK thanks to its relatively mild
Mediterranean climate. In 1910 Alexandre Millerand, the French Minister of Public Works at the
time, created the first tourism office, with the desire to promote those places that must be
contemplated and visited by many. The intellectual vision that covers his entourage will then
change since we will be more aware of our surroundings. We decide consciously to build tourism in
these places. However, the trip is

the Duke. While the motive for the murder is not blatantly expressed, I believe that the Duke
became aware of his wife s rampant infidelityand that this drove him to murderhis Duchess.
Throughout the poem the Dukemakes use of suggestive language to allude to his former wife s
lack of commitment. The Duchess exploits, are not lost on the Duke as he frequently
acknowledges it throughout the poem. So, ...twas not/ Her husband s presence only, called that
spot/ Of joy into the Duchess cheek... (lines 13 15) is not an innocent expression describing a coy
Duchess, but what I argue is an allusion to the Duchesses harlotry. Perhaps the most obvious
suspect for an accomplice to the Duchess adultery is FrГ Pandolf. The Duke identifies the friar as a
flirt who makes advances towards his wife. The Duke provides examples of the Friars flirts. One
such come on is that of the friar telling the Duchess that she wears too much and bears too little
skin: Her mantle laps/Over my Lady s wrist too much (line 16 17). To such a pass the Duke said
his Duchess would welcome, if not appease such lewd comments. The Duke seems hesitant to
explain his former wife s behavior to the wedding negotiator: ...She had/A heart how shall I say?
too soon made glad (lines 21 22) This unwillingness in description indicated by Browning s use
of dashes leads to the notion of a more sultry reaction than simply a heart made glad but rather a
heart won over. As hesitation in speech is often used by those who are trying to avoid the social
ramifications for whatever they are about to say, we can assume that the Duke does not want to
openly admit to the Duchess cheating as it could give away the motivation for the Duchess absence.
As if one affair was not embarrassing enough for the Duke, he alludes to the Duchess flirtatious
nature as ...she liked whate er/ She looked on, and her looks went everywhere... (lines 23 24) This
includes a man who encroached upon their property and gave the Duchess cherries a fruit whose
lascivious nature goes back

Shakespeare s Theory Of Sir Francis Bacon Vs. William...
There are a variety of theories that suggest that Sir Francis Bacon was, in fact, William
Shakespeare. Supporters of these claims refer to Shakespeare s writing style, lack of education, and
reportedly hidden messages within his texts as some of the evidence that indicates that Bacon was
the real author of the many plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare. These assertions do not
conclusively substantiate the Bacon theory and only attempt to discredit the real William
Shakespeare. Therefore, Sir Francis Bacon did not write as William Shakespeare. The first theory
of Sir Francis Bacon being the true author of Shakespeare, came from the author Delia Bacon no
relation. For Delia being a failed novelist , it is hard for a person to... Show more content on

However, just because it was stated that way, does not mean that Sir Francis Bacon wrote under
the name William Shakespeare. Anybody could write their name beside a famous authors name,
such as J.R. Rowling, that does not mean that this random person wrote all her novels. In this
time, it was very common for multiple publications to have the same phrases stated in them, this
does not mean that for every piece of work with the same statement in it, was written by the
same author. If this were the case, then why are there not more philosophies as too who wrote
Shakespeare? Sir Francis Bacon and Shakespeare did have a very different style of writing. Sir
Francis Bacon s writings was more stilted and abrupt compared to those works of Shakespeare .
Bacon did his best work when he viewed life from an ancient elevation or when he looked back
through the silver haze of the years at the earlier thoughts, for only then did he write of
experiences common to mankind. . Plus, Bacon practically never spoke unwholesomely about
people, were as Shakespeare would make fun of people in his works. The similarity and identity
of statement in their works, however remarkable they may seem at first glance, appear, after close
examination, to be the result of the use of the literary stock in trade of the age .

School Uniforms And Its Effect On Self Image
Most commonly found in private schools, school uniforms are slowly being adopted by public
schools in the US. In the 2003 2004 school year every one in eight schools required uniforms; in
the 2011 2012 school year that number had increased to every one in five schools (ProCon.org). As
violence increased, schools started enforcing uniforms thinking that it would solve the violence.
School uniforms were created in England in the 16th century for students referred to as the charity
children (ProCon.org). In later centuries, high class schools were the most commonly known for
requiring their students to wear uniforms. The first recorded time a public school in the US
required uniforms was in 1987, a school in Maryland put out an optional uniformpolicy
(ProCon.org). Uniforms have been being enforced by private schools for years, but now public
schools are trying to enforce them. Students should not be required to wear uniforms because it
refuses students the ability to express themselves, dress codes are more effective, and uniforms can
cause a detrimental effect on self image. High schoolis a vital time in a child s life to discover who
they are as an individual; expressing themselves through clothes is part of this process. If a student
is required to wear a uniform everyday, that would create a lack of self expression. The First
Amendment states that every human being in the United States is entitled to express themselves
(Anderson). When students are forced to wear

Stereotyping And The American Cinema
Stereotyping Arabs in Hollywood Stereotyping is a very common tool used by film makers
because it is a simple way of establishing a trait of a character in a movie but it provides a single
sided portrait of certain people based on their sex, gender, religion, race or age. As an example
the way Arabs, particularly Palestinians, are portrayed in cinema. The American cinema has
painted a picture full of misconceptions about them and created a stereotype that has been
exacerbated in many movies since the dawn of hollywood. Because Cinema is a powerful tool
that manipulates and reshapes the thoughts of audiences by making spectators passively consume
all presented material, it made it easy to manipulate the minds of people to serve a political
agenda mainly the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Jack Valenti a former president and CEO of the
Motion Picture Association of America had said: Washington and Hollywood spring from the same
DNA . Since the founding of Israelin 1948, every American administration has made it clear which
side it is on. On the other hand, it failed to support the millions of Palestinians who are loosing
their homes, their lands, and their lives to the occupation. In the contrary, they have always been
projected as the evil that wants death to Israel and America. And that is where cinema comes in, it
goes to reinforce that image in the minds of people so they are less compassionate and sympathetic
to the palestinian peopleas Israel is expanding in

The pleasant vibes of reggae music and Rastafarian culture flow from the hills to the sandy shores.

Summary Of Utiima By Ultima
In the novel, Antonio s uncle, Lucas, was on the verge of dying due to a curse placed upon him by
witches. A priest and a doctor had tried to deal with Lucas illness, but were unsuccessful at their
attempts at doing so. It was noted that Lucas had witnessed Tenorio s daughters performing a
satanic ritual, also known as the Black Mass . Afterwards, Lucas had tried to test whether or not
Tenorio s daughters were indeed witches, but they had ran away once they noticed a makeshift
cross. As all other measures had been taken, Lucas brother, Pedro, had asked Ultima to help.
Ultima had agreed to help, but before Ultima would attend to Uncle Lucas, she has a confrontation
with Tenorio. Within the story, the reader comes to understand that Ultima blames the curse placed
on Lucas on the daughters of Tenorio. I have come to lift a curse. It is your daughters who do evil,
that are brujas. (Bless Me, Ultima pg.39). This upsets Tenorio, and creates an argument between the
two. Ultima goes on giving Tenorio an ultimatum if he does not try to convince his daughters to lift

The rise of Fascism in Italy was one of the most dominant and progressive movements in history.
A Fascist state has many characteristics of a totalitarian state in which the leader is able to
control all political, economic and social aspects of the state. The surprising part of this seizure
of power in Italy was that in just ten years, the Italian government went from being a Socialist
party to a Fascist party with very nationalistic qualities. The key leader during this rise of power

Communism And The Soviet Union
Have you ever had a case of the hiccups that you just couldn t seem to get rid of? You tried all the
tricks in the book, from holding your breath, to standing upside down, but those pestering hiccups
still stuck around? In a sense, many Eastern European countries had a persistent case of the
hiccups, during the early 1990s, which they were trying to shake. Except this wasn t your average
case of the hiccups, these hiccups were called communism. Following the fall of the Soviet Union
in 1991, most post Soviet satellite states began making the transition to become liberal democracies.
However, the transition from communist governments to democratic governments was not
necessarily a smooth one for most of the Eastern European countries. Decades of oppressive Soviet
rule and deep rooted communist parties made ties to the Soviet Union especially hard to cut.
Ukraine, in particular, struggled mightily to break away from the Russian communists, and that
struggle is still continuing today. In the form of a corrupt government and pro Russian supporters
in South and Eastern Ukraine, roadblocks were created on the Ukrainian road to democracy that
they are still trying to maneuver. In analyzing the challenges posed to Ukraine in their continuing
transition to a liberal democracy, it is important to start in 1990, when Ukraine officially declared
independence. This declaration included principles of self determination, democracy, and the
priority of Ukrainian law over Soviet law.

Political Allegory In Alice In Wonderland
One historical approach to Carroll s Alice in Wonderland invites the reader to observe the trends,
culture as well as the philosophy of the Victorian Era for a personalized interpretation of Alice s
encounters in Wonderland. Usage of the Historical approach may seem demoralizing in sheer
scope; it is quite imperative to understand that the novel was written during a specific time period
that, in itself, contained unique habits and concerns. Within the following pages, the connections
with the Victorian erain terms of the middle class upbringing of children, notions of order,
reasoning, logic and politesse will be further understood. Political allegory, a powerful theme that
reflects brilliantly in the real life to England; the Wonderland, the symbolic England, The novel can
be first identified as the direct opposite with characters that jigsaw into the real life. Wonderland
was ruled unjustly by the Queen of Hearts, who, correspondingly was Queen Victoria. There were
pieces of evidence that Carroll was not overly timid by the Queen. The aristocracy of violence that
was assigned to Wonderland (the Queen and the Duchess) as well as the ludicrous mangling of
justice in the trial ( Sentence first, then verdict ; the British system indeed at that time in
shambles.) are often used as the evidence that Alice belonged to perhaps the genre of political
satire more than Carroll had realized. Another political approach is to treat Alice as an allegory for
colonization. During the

A Comaprison of the Miller s Tale and Merchant s Tale
Comparing Miller s Tale and Merchant s Tale
Alison in the Miller s Tale and May of the Merchant s Tale are similar in several ways. Both are
young women who have married men much older than themselves. They both become involved
with young, manipulative men. They also conspire to and do cuckold their husbands. This is not
what marriage is about and it is demonstrated in both tales. What makes the Miller s Tale bawdy
comedy and the Merchant s tale bitter satire is in the characterization. In the Miller s tale we are
giving stereotyped characters. The principals are cardboard cut outs sent into farcical motion. The
Merchant s Tale gives us much more background and detail of the character s lives. The reader is

1851 53). This quote follows distasteful descriptions of January who eagerly awaits May in bed.
The reader is privy to none of this with Alison.
It does not take much persuasion on Nicholas part to talk Alison into having an affair with her. The
idea of tricking her husband is a game for her. With impish delight she conspires with Nicholas the
outlandish plot of convincing her husband that a great flood is coming. With her husband safety
ensconced in a bathtub hanging from the roof, Alison plays with Nicholas. And it is play for then
we have the quot;kissing quot; scene with Absalom. Alison is having fun with the whole situation,
it is just a great time for her.
May does not love Damien any more than she loves January. He is just a better, convenient
alternative. We know she cares not for Damien as when she receives a love letter from him she
easily disposes it in the privy. It is easy to see that her motivation for adultery is really one of
revenge and not out of affection for Damien. January assaulted her by the mere fact of marrying
her. This is satire on the whole theme of courtly love. This feeling of revenge on her part is further
demonstrated in the cuckold scene.
May deceives January quite wickedly in the garden. Yet for the reader we can not fault her for it.

Illusionistic Ceiling Painting of the Seventeenth Century
Introduction:
Webster s dictionary defines illusion as a perception of something objective existing in such a way
as to cause misinterpretation of its actual nature . In Europe during the seventeenth century, or the
Baroque era, certain artistic implementations of spatial illusion were established. The influence of
perception was deteriorating and being questioned. Artists of the time reacted suitably with
paintings and structures intended to fool the eye, the literal meaning of trompe l oeil. This style,
not new by any means, was revived in Baroque art, giving the viewer pause to ask Is this real? as
well as to cause a sense of wonderment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another technique was quadratura, which was where a wall or ceiling was painted with
architectural elements such as columns and arches by using tools such as foreshortening, and other
spatial effects to create the illusion of a three dimensional space on an otherwise two dimensional
or mostly flat ceiling surface above the viewer, seeming to extend the real architecture of the room
into an imaginary space beyond the confines of the walls or ceiling.

Annibale Carracci
Fresco
60 x 18
At the end of the sixteenth century and the beginning of the century that followed, there arose in
Rome one of the greatest works of art which, without exaggeration, may be called one of the pillars
on which seventeeth century painting in Europe rests; the ceiling frescoes of the Galleria Farnese
in the Palazzo Farnese, painted by Annibale Carracci.
Carracci was a slave to educating himself in all things pertaining to art. He researched the old
masters techniques and styles to better improve his own and to seek inspiration. He was obsessed
with the antique , and by investigating such masters as Michaelangelo and Raphael, he was then

The And Dark House
Ryan and I enter the dim and dark house, which makes it apparent that the girls are still out.
Struggling to hold my inner elation of the job being complete, I have no choice but to wait until
Dana gets back. I m gonna quickly run upstairs, I tell Ryan, so I can grab the money we now
owe him. Cool. You got any beers in the fridge? He asks. Yeah, I think Amy got some the other
day. Grab me one, I reply. Alright, Ryan s voice fades into the background as I pace upstairs.
Now in the bedroom, I shut the door quietly behind me and head to the bed, there I kneel down
and grab the sizable gym bag full of our remaining money. With the lid now flipped over, the
bundles of cash halts my thought pattern for a moment. How much do we owe him... Show more

The rustling noise of the plastic bag containing our documents causes me to stop, I rest Ryan s
money on top of the counter and pull out the bag. A weird hunch tells me to put the contents in
the bottom draw of the dressing table, and I do so. With a shake of the head over such a bizarre
moment, I continue on and make my way downstairs. Here s your beer, Ryan extends a chilled
bottle to me as I walk into the living room. Cheers, I grab it and sit down on the couch. He
follows suit by perching himself on the armchair opposite me. The money I owe you, it s here, I
toss the bundles of cash on the small glass table between us. Much to my surprise, he doesn t
look at all interested in the chunk of money waiting for him, instead he tilts his head back
slightly and takes a gulp of beer. I m not interested, he says with a croaky voice caused by the
liveliness of the beverage. With my throat dying to be lubricated, I too indulge in the chilled
beer. What d you mean? I ask promptly after relieving myself. I m not taking it. Why? Because...
I don t want it, he says. But it was part of the deal. Doesn t matter, all I truly wanted was my five
grand back from Dana and for my debt to Fabian to be paid off, but I got that now, so this money
means nothing to me. He takes another sip. With my free hand, I scratch my head in confusion to
his sudden change of heart, Something doesn t ring right here!

Analysis Of The Film Blind Faith
The film Blind Faith took place on July 5, 1957 in New York. In the film, black lawyer John
Williams has to represent his nephew Charlie, who has been accused of killing a white boy in
the park. Charlie was a senior in high school and had a bright future ahead of him. His father is a
police officer and is extremely hard on him. So when Charlie was accused of this crime his
father was embarrassed. When John, and Charlie s father arrived at the police station, Charlie
was beaten so badly that his eyes were swollen shut, and they were told Charlie had confessed to
the murder. He was appointed a representor from the jail before his family arrived, and had
already signed a written confession. So, to the investigators the case was open and shut. John
was not letting Charlie go down without uncovering the truth. John had a hard time finding
evidence to prove Charlie s innocence until one of his interns picked up the wrong files from the
police station. The files that were collected revealed a black boy had also been murdered in the
same park that day. The murder was kept quiet because it would have told Charlie s secret and
ruined his dad s reputation but John wanted to know the truth. The other boy who was killed was
Charlie s lover, David. When the secret was out Charlie told his lawyer everything. The truth was,
Charlie and David were caught kissing at the park by the group of white boys. They tried to run but
the boys chased after them. Once the boys caught

Who Is The Father Figure In Huckleberry Finn
A father figure is a crucial element in the moral development of a young boy. In The Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, the main character, Huck, has not one but two fathers in his
life. He has his real dad, Pap, and a slave he befriends, Jim. Even though Pap is Huck s biological
father, he is not the best influence. Both men have extensive influence on Huck s development
as a person. Through his actions, it is evident that Jim is more of a father to Huck than Pap. First
off, Huck s biological father, Pap Finn, is not exactly the best father in the world. Pap not only is
a substandard father, he is also a substandard person. He is an alcoholic, is always drunk, is
tremendously racist, and is abusive to Huck. In fact, Huck

Intermodal Surface Transportation Act Of 1991 Case Study
The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) was created to better the
transportation infrastructure in the United States. One of the main reasons for the act was that it
emphasized intermodalism the seamless linking of highway, rail, air, and marine transportation
(Schweppe, 2001). The legislation enabled the state and local government to have a greater
flexibility in transportation programs such as safety, traffic mitigation and reduced emissions. This
has lead to many positive changes in the enhancement of roads and bridges along the intermodal
transportsystem to include historic and scenic improvements. What the legislation did not enable
the federal government to be directly involved with innovative changes... Show more content on

At present the trucking industry functions on public roads and the railways function as privately
owned. Each mode needs to be addressed equally to make improvements. If the government
implements or funds a change to a road network it should be done to either add a benefit to the
rail system. As innovations are ready to be utilized there may be a need for government assistance
in implementation due to the scale of which the transportation modes operate. The nation s railway
is the largest in the world due to the amount of land mass it crosses and size of the country. A
balance needs to be achieved between the companies that own the transportation companies and the
nations end goal that is beneficial to both the public and private sector. The many different
trucking and railway companies needs legislature to be in effect on a federal level so each
company falls within the guidelines across the country. The private and public sectors need to
synchronized their future goals and develop timelines together to reach their end

The Bigger Race
Racial acrimony, bleak economic prospects, unanticipated troubles, and perhaps destiny test the
mettle of Bigger repeatedly. Bigger s life wades through deliberate experimentations, and it is
through these experiments that Wright detests socio economic consequences of slavery and racism
on African American populace. As Ford states, Wright s major purpose in this novel was to show
that social and economic barriers against racelead to grave injustices toward racial minorities and
that those injustices so distort character and personality growth that criminal monstrosities, such as
Bigger, are produced (89). Bigger and his fellow blacks are prevented from availing economic and
social equality on account of poverty and limited choices that the... Show more content on

So he denied himself and acted tough (NS, 20). Bigger s roughness and toughness were his
shields he uses to prevent himself from entering into his consciousness. Thus, the principal fear
of Bigger was his self knowledge and this, of course, is the title of Part 1 also. The other fears
that make up Bigger s life are byproducts of this basic terror. All of Bigger s actions spring up
from his fear, which is the fear of his race. He hates Whites because he fears them. He knows that
they are responsible for his immobility, his frustration, his inferior social status, so he channels
his hatred and aggression towards other Negroes and thereby, momentarily assuages his ego. He
is afraid, for example, of stealing from a white store keeper, but he feels it is much easier and safer
to rob their own people, for he knew that white policeman never really search diligently for
Blacks who commit crimes against other Blacks. He hates Mary Dalton because he fears she will
jeopardize his job, and he regards all her overtures as efforts to humiliate him. He kills her because
he fears the help he has given her will be

Yojimbo
Roger Lin
Yojimbo
In Yojimbo, Akira Kurosawa satirizes Japanese greed and corruption and portrays the growing
influence of capitalism. During this time in Japan, the Yakuza clan was a very strong and
dangerous group equivalent to the modern day mafia. The Yakuza clans ideals are relatable to two
themes prominent in Yojimbo: greed and corruption, and rising capitalist influence. Kurosawa
satirizes these two characteristics of the Yakuza clan through the use of mise en scene.
One way that Kurosawa used the mise en scene to satire the Yakuza clan was through the use of
dГ©cor. The Yakuza clan was a group which took pride in obtaining the valuables and riches of the
world. As such, one thing that the Yakuza clan loved beyond measure was... Show more content on

Kurosawa used these comical costumes to give Inokichi and the other gamblers a rich and wealthy,
yet stupid sort of look, implying that although the gamblers in town are greatly feared, greedy, and
rich, inside it all they are all incredibly stupid and contain little common sense.
Although not commonly thought of or considered, Kurosawa used a large amount of artificial
lighting and dramatic scenery to create effects that he wanted to portray. Without these, Kurosawa
would not have been able create the effect that he did during the film. The Yakuza clan was a
group that although well known and feared, did much of their organized crime under the radar and
out of sight of authorities. The scene following their crime was often a trail of destruction.
Kurosawa decided to satire this with his use of artificial light and dramatic scenic settings.
Kurosawa used artificial light to bring the events of the Yakuza clan to light. Since most of the
crime done by then is in the dark or undercover, Kurosawa added humor by adding light to
everything and thus removing the stealth factor the Yakuza clan always operated by. To further
satire them, Kurosawa showed that events that occurred in daylights could often end in incredibly
pathetic manners. The best instance of this is in the beginning of the film after Sanjuro decides he
will leave Seibei and simply watch the fight between the two gangs. The two gangs nervously edge

Analysis Of Mirror Vs. Suicide Note
Mirror vs Suicide Note Poetry is a type of literature that uses rhythmical composition to
implement the reader with beautiful, imaginative or elevated thoughts (dictionary.com). Two of
the finest poems during their time were Mirror , by Sylvia Plath, and Suicide Note , by Janice

depression. During college she attempted to put an end to her life by taking sleeping pills; she
was placed in a mental institute and was treated with electroconvulsive shock treatment. A few
years later after graduating from college she got married to a fellow poet, Ted Hughes. Four years
later, Hughes and Plath had their first child followed by their second child two years after. After
seven years of marriage, in 1962, her husband left her for another woman which a few months later
she committed suicideby using a gas oven (Wagner Martin 4). Plath was not the only poet out of
the two that had to deal with hardship. Janice Mirikitani is an Asian American activist that was
born in Stockton California. Her and her family were incarcerated during World War II in an
camp in Arkansas. After being released from the camp, her father and mother separated. Her
mother remarried and moved to rural Petaluma. Mirikitani at the age of five had to bear years of
hardship of emotional isolation, poverty and sexual abuse by her stepfather that lasted practically a
decade. These dramatic events in her life, caused her to

The Golden Age Of Hollywood
From 1920s, Hollywood became one of the most notable businesses in America. The great
development of film technology and those countless creative ideas put most of the Americans into
a feeding frenzy. However, the golden age of Hollywood experienced the impact of World War II,
which led to the significant changes in film industry. At the beginning of 1960s, European film
industry gradually moved its focus to creativity and aesthetics, and the auteur theory gained more
and more attention. American films were also influenced by these European art films. Due to the
development of video filming technology, it was easier and cheaper to shoot and produce works,

Although it is because of his love to Holly, all the things he does to the guiltless father shows his
violent and remorseless characteristic, which is quite different from the traditional hero in a
teen film. The whole story is based on a real life murder spree of Charles Starkweather and his
girlfriend. To follow Starkweather s action, Kit also kills three bounty hunters, his friend Cato
and an innocent teenage couple who just arrive to visit Cato. It seems that killing people is his
way to solve problems. Compared to Badlands, Kit s idol Jim Stark still shows sympathy to his
best friend Plato, and tries to protect Plato until the end. The title Rebel without a cause may be
even more suitable to describe Kit s action that the film does not set a clear conflict between him
and the real world. What Kit mainly does is dresses a white T shirt, jeans and boots to look like
James Dean, and imitates some rebellious actions. Holly proves the reason for falling love with
him in her voice over at the beginning, He looked just like James Dean (Brickman 2014). The
initial attraction of Kit is basically due to the imagination of a dream lover from a simple and
pure 15 year old girl. After a period of killing and escaping, Holly pays less and less attention on
Kit, and she starts to refuse Kit s crazy rebel, which proves that Kit himself is not an engaging
character. Furthermore, as

Common Gastrointestinal ( Gi ) Medical Emergency
Pathophysiology Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common gastrointestinal (GI)
medical emergency that occurs in neonates. Although it commonly affects premature babies, it can
happen in term babies as well. It usually occurs during the first two to four weeks of life in
premature babies and in one to three days for up to one month in term babies. For the premature
babies, their organs are not fully developed and it puts them at risk for disease. It is an acute
inflammatory disease that is characterized by damage to the intestinal tract and can range from
mucosal injury (the lining of the intestines), to full thickness necrosis (where the tissue dies) and
perforation (where there is a hole in the intestine. The exact cause is unknown but some ideas are
that babies have underdeveloped intestines, there may have been too little oxygen or blood flow to
the intestines, injury to the intestinal tract, a heavy growth of bacteria in the intestines that erodes
the intestinal wall, and formula feedings. Although NEC can occur anywhere in the intestines and
colon, it commonly affects the terminal ileum (where the small intestineconnects to the large
intestine) and the proximal ascending colon.
Assessment
A baby with NEC may present with one or more of the following signs or symptoms: a swollen,
red, or tender belly, that increased in girth; a feeding intolerance; delayed gastric emptying;
decreased bowel sounds; constipation, diarrhea or bloody stools; a low or unstable

  • 2. How Far Was The East End Reliable Essay How reliable and useful are these sources in explaining how difficult life was for the inhabitants of the East End? The city of London was a city of surprising sights. The streets were horribly overcrowded slums where people lived in the worst conditions imaginable. The population rose during the 19th century, from about 1 million in 1800 to over 6 million a century later. This growth far exceeded London s ability to look after the basic needs of its citizens. The sanitation was gruesome and was full of human and animal waste causing lots of infectious diseases such as typhoid and cholera which spread quickly due to the cramp conditions. Source 3 tells us that the East End of London was poor and over crowded. Many of the over populated buildings housed up to thirty families. Some of whom lived directly above cess pits. From the source it s saying that 55% of children died before they reached the age of five. This source was written by an historian, speaking for a BBC television documentary. This source is could not be very reliable because it s not telling us when or where he has found his information from. It s also a very new documentary as it was only made in the year 2000. I think that this source is very useful as it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women were being treated like rags and they were often led to prostitution after the result of having no money. When the people of London were kindly given money, they would receive no thanks. They never showed respect. This source is very reliable as it says that Charles Dickens often walked through Whitechapel and then went on to use scenes from it in his book. This source was extracted from an article about Charles dickens which was published in the magazine The Dickensian in 1905. This source is useful because it explains how the women were treated but on the other hand it shows how the men were very ungrateful and thought they were better than anyone ... • 3. IRA Cons IRA is the stands for an Individual Retirement Account, which is another form of a savings plan. You can open an IRA through almost any large financial institution, including banks, mutual fund companies and brokerage firms (Where should I open an IRA). It is a savings account meant for your retirement. It helps save money for your future so by the time you retire you will have enough to live off of. There are different types of IRA s to pick and choose from to best fit what the individual needs along with what they are eligible for as well. The main 3 are Traditional, SEP (Simplified Employee Pension), and Roth (Internet RetirementAllowance). All of these IRAs have different requirements and but the one thing they have in common... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This IRA is meant for business owners to help contribute toward their employees retirement as well as their own retirement as well (SEP Plan FAQs). The amount that employers can deposit into this IRA is up to 15% (Internet Retirement Allowance). The benefits of this IRA are less responsibility, low fees, tax deferred and tax deductible (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The employee does not have a lot of responsibility because he or she does not have to put the money into the retirement account on his or her own; the employer does it directly. While this is helpful to the employee, the employer gets to deduct the contributions that they make into the fund from their taxes creating an incentive for them (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). SEP accounts have reasonable fees; they re not over the top. The last benefit of a SEP IRA is the money you make in the retirement account from investments is allowed to grow tax free; you do not have to worry about taxes before you retire (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The disadvantages are contributions and no guarantees (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The bad thing about contributions is that the employee does not get a say on how much they want to deposit into their SEP account; the employer decides for them. The last thing that is a con is that there could be no requirements for contributions; they employer can pick and chose when they want to make a contribution to the employees account (Simplified Employee Pension Plans Pros and Cons). The SEP IRA is good for employees who do not want the responsibility for putting money into their retirement account. It is a risky one since the employee will be depending on the employer to do their part of the contribution. It is important to make sure you have a good employer if you do decide to choose to go with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lewis s Mere Christianity With Its Complex Themes And... After reflecting on C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity with its complex themes and wording, I thought that reading N.T. Wright s Simply Jesus would be an understandable breath of fresh air. However this book raised more questions in my mind and beliefs than Mere Christianity ever did. Wright asks a lot of poignant questions in the book in regards to our Lord and Savior JesusChrist, and in turn triggers even more questions in his readers. He captures the nature of a 21st century Christian perfectly. Like it or not we are a doubting group who question everything in our society whether that be politics, relationships, or religion. While reading Part One of Simply Jesus I had a nagging thought growing in the back of my mind. With every page I read it became stronger and more prominent until it was a clearly formed question; why did God not prepare the world for the coming of Christ better? Now of course I know that there were prophesies and foreshadowing of Christ but my question is not why did God not say there would be a savior, because He did, but rather why did He not give the people some more information. Ever since I was a child I have heard over and over again that the people of Israel did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah was because they were expecting something else. Even Wright says on page one of Simply Jesus, He was not the King they expected . I just cannot help but wonder why God never told the people what to expect. How hard would it have been to tell the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Nymphal Ticks Case Study Pathogenesis Initial infection Nymphal ticks require at least of 24 hours of attachment in order to build a sufficient bacterial load (Hildenbrand et al., 2009). Borrelia bacteria remain localised in the area of the bite before subsequent inflammatory responses cause vasodilation allowing Borrelia to disseminate throughout the host s body (Pachner Steiner, 2007). Immune evasion mechanisms Across the three main strains of Borrelia, on average 8% of coding DNA in their genome is devoted purely towards synthesizing surface lipoproteins (Pal Fikrig, 2003). This large allocation and subsequent recombination allows Borrelia change the expression of their outer surface proteins (Osp) as well as the variable major protein like sequence (vls) almost instantly, preventing the immune system from developing a specific response (Stewart et al., 2005). An example of this is OspA, which is extremely immunogenic, is down regulated once tick feeding has begun and then increased again after Borrelia has infected the nervous system (Fallon et al., 2010). This ability to change the expression of Osps also allows Borrelia to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The exact mechanism of this is unknown however there have been several hypotheses. • 9. Masculinity, By William Faulkner And The Death Of A Man Masculinity is a common theme in nearly all of Hemingway s works. What makes Indian Camp unique is that it is about a young boy earning his masculinity, and all in one very eventful night. This story is about becoming a man so to speak, through enduring and overcoming two very difficult situations to view: the birth of a child and the death of a man. Barn Burningcovers the same theme in a darker and more violent way. In William Faulkners story, Sarty s father teaches him to become a man by teaching him that a man should hold his family s blood above anything and everything else. The different ways this lesson is taught in these two stories are the key differences in how the main characters come to grasp the same basic ideal. In Indian Camp, the protagonist, Nick, is put face to face with uncomfortable scenarios and finally is forced to endure and triumph over these challenges, whereas Sarty does essentially the same thing, but instead of accepting the standards put before him, he overthrows them and accepts what he believes masculinity should be. During the time of writing Indian Camp, masculinity may have been intertwined with the notion that white men were the dominant people of the time. This can be taken from when Nick asks his father if there is anything that can be given to the Indian woman in labor in order to make her quit screaming, to which Nick s father replies her screams are not important. I don t hear them because they are not important (Hemingway, 16). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the US characters ignominy, the foreigners are added another layer of symbolic meanings in conjunction with their foreignness comprised of race and ethnicity. The foreigners can potentially transform their characters from an infantilized alien who does not speak English to a threat to the US who betrays their gullible American partners who brought them to the US from the uncivilized country. That the mail order brides (or grooms) might manipulate and betray the inculpable Americans for US citizenship is well acknowledged by the show participants themselves. Wildfire Pollution An estimated 212 million people in the United States live in an area affected by wildfire pollution (Knowlton, 2013); a number that, due to global climate change, will only continue to rise (Westerling et al., 2006; Settele et al., 2014). The effects of exposure to wildfire smoke on human health are hard to quantify because the long term effects often go unnoticed. One estimate for global premature death rate due to exposure of wildfire smoke is 399,000 persons annually (Johnston et al., 2012). There are many serious health risks associated with exposure to wildfire smoke, many of which remain poorly understood. A 2016 systematic review entitled Critical Review of Health Impacts of Wildfire Smoke Exposure compiled information from multiple studies examining the health effects of exposure to wildfire smoke. The study reviewed every reference found within its search parameters over three databases, selecting for papers without potential biases including small sample size and unreliable smoke exposure assessment methods (Reid et al., 2016). The results of the remaining 103 studies were them compiled and compared to assess for the consistency of their findings (Reid et al., 2016). The study found that smoke from wildfires contains toxins such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter (PM) (Naeher et al. 2007). • 18. Cultural Heritage Of The French Tourism Tourism in France is an important activity, both for the French who choose to spend their holidays, and foreigners who come to stay. Thus, since 1990, France became the first tourist destination in the world. The tourist attraction of France is due to the large number and wide variety of points of interest, diversity of landscapes, the rich cultural and artistic heritage, the temperate climate and ease of access and transport infrastructure, but also the important equipment in the country and varied reception facilities (hotels, amusement parks...). Thus, each department is a French tourist department with several points of interest. France has a rich well known cultural heritage, favored by many sites listed as World Heritage of UNESCO. The French tourismhas many different facets and positive economic impacts and France makes every effort to maintain the liveliness of this important asset. The history of tourism in France began around 1760 in the south of France in Hyeres, becoming a common winter resort renowned among UK thanks to its relatively mild Mediterranean climate. In 1910 Alexandre Millerand, the French Minister of Public Works at the time, created the first tourism office, with the desire to promote those places that must be contemplated and visited by many. The intellectual vision that covers his entourage will then change since we will be more aware of our surroundings. We decide consciously to build tourism in these places. However, the trip is ... • 19. My Last Duchess Harlotry Analysis The poem My Last Duchess by Robert Browning gives a haunting look into the thoughts of a possible murderer. From the first reading, one can deduce that the Last Duchess was murdered by the Duke. While the motive for the murder is not blatantly expressed, I believe that the Duke became aware of his wife s rampant infidelityand that this drove him to murderhis Duchess. Throughout the poem the Dukemakes use of suggestive language to allude to his former wife s lack of commitment. The Duchess exploits, are not lost on the Duke as he frequently acknowledges it throughout the poem. So, ...twas not/ Her husband s presence only, called that spot/ Of joy into the Duchess cheek... (lines 13 15) is not an innocent expression describing a coy Duchess, but what I argue is an allusion to the Duchesses harlotry. Perhaps the most obvious suspect for an accomplice to the Duchess adultery is FrГ Pandolf. The Duke identifies the friar as a flirt who makes advances towards his wife. The Duke provides examples of the Friars flirts. One such come on is that of the friar telling the Duchess that she wears too much and bears too little skin: Her mantle laps/Over my Lady s wrist too much (line 16 17). To such a pass the Duke said his Duchess would welcome, if not appease such lewd comments. The Duke seems hesitant to explain his former wife s behavior to the wedding negotiator: ...She had/A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad (lines 21 22) This unwillingness in description indicated by Browning s use of dashes leads to the notion of a more sultry reaction than simply a heart made glad but rather a heart won over. As hesitation in speech is often used by those who are trying to avoid the social ramifications for whatever they are about to say, we can assume that the Duke does not want to openly admit to the Duchess cheating as it could give away the motivation for the Duchess absence. As if one affair was not embarrassing enough for the Duke, he alludes to the Duchess flirtatious nature as ...she liked whate er/ She looked on, and her looks went everywhere... (lines 23 24) This includes a man who encroached upon their property and gave the Duchess cherries a fruit whose lascivious nature goes back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Shakespeare s Theory Of Sir Francis Bacon Vs. William... There are a variety of theories that suggest that Sir Francis Bacon was, in fact, William Shakespeare. Supporters of these claims refer to Shakespeare s writing style, lack of education, and reportedly hidden messages within his texts as some of the evidence that indicates that Bacon was the real author of the many plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare. These assertions do not conclusively substantiate the Bacon theory and only attempt to discredit the real William Shakespeare. Therefore, Sir Francis Bacon did not write as William Shakespeare. Anybody could write their name beside a famous authors name, such as J.R. Rowling, that does not mean that this random person wrote all her novels. If this were the case, then why are there not more philosophies as too who wrote Shakespeare? Sir Francis Bacon and Shakespeare did have a very different style of writing. Sir Francis Bacon s writings was more stilted and abrupt compared to those works of Shakespeare . Bacon did his best work when he viewed life from an ancient elevation or when he looked back through the silver haze of the years at the earlier thoughts, for only then did he write of experiences common to mankind. . Plus, Bacon practically never spoke unwholesomely about people, were as Shakespeare would make fun of people in his works. • 22. School Uniforms And Its Effect On Self Image Most commonly found in private schools, school uniforms are slowly being adopted by public schools in the US. In the 2003 2004 school year every one in eight schools required uniforms; in the 2011 2012 school year that number had increased to every one in five schools (ProCon.org). As violence increased, schools started enforcing uniforms thinking that it would solve the violence. School uniforms were created in England in the 16th century for students referred to as the charity children (ProCon.org). In later centuries, high class schools were the most commonly known for requiring their students to wear uniforms. The first recorded time a public school in the US required uniforms was in 1987, a school in Maryland put out an optional uniformpolicy (ProCon.org). Uniforms have been being enforced by private schools for years, but now public schools are trying to enforce them. Students should not be required to wear uniforms because it refuses students the ability to express themselves, dress codes are more effective, and uniforms can cause a detrimental effect on self image. High schoolis a vital time in a child s life to discover who they are as an individual; expressing themselves through clothes is part of this process. Stereotyping And The American Cinema Stereotyping Arabs in Hollywood Stereotyping is a very common tool used by film makers because it is a simple way of establishing a trait of a character in a movie but it provides a single sided portrait of certain people based on their sex, gender, religion, race or age. As an example the way Arabs, particularly Palestinians, are portrayed in cinema. The American cinema has painted a picture full of misconceptions about them and created a stereotype that has been exacerbated in many movies since the dawn of hollywood. Because Cinema is a powerful tool that manipulates and reshapes the thoughts of audiences by making spectators passively consume all presented material, it made it easy to manipulate the minds of people to serve a political agenda mainly the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Jack Valenti a former president and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America had said: Washington and Hollywood spring from the same DNA . Since the founding of Israelin 1948, every American administration has made it clear which side it is on. On the other hand, it failed to support the millions of Palestinians who are loosing their homes, their lands, and their lives to the occupation. In the contrary, they have always been projected as the evil that wants death to Israel and America. And that is where cinema comes in, it goes to reinforce that image in the minds of people so they are less compassionate and sympathetic to the palestinian peopleas Israel is expanding in ... In a sense, many Eastern European countries had a persistent case of the hiccups, during the early 1990s, which they were trying to shake. Except this wasn t your average case of the hiccups, these hiccups were called communism. Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, most post Soviet satellite states began making the transition to become liberal democracies. However, the transition from communist governments to democratic governments was not necessarily a smooth one for most of the Eastern European countries. Decades of oppressive Soviet rule and deep rooted communist parties made ties to the Soviet Union especially hard to cut. Ukraine, in particular, struggled mightily to break away from the Russian communists, and that struggle is still continuing today. In the form of a corrupt government and pro Russian supporters in South and Eastern Ukraine, roadblocks were created on the Ukrainian road to democracy that they are still trying to maneuver. In analyzing the challenges posed to Ukraine in their continuing transition to a liberal democracy, it is important to start in 1990, when Ukraine officially declared independence. Wonderland was ruled unjustly by the Queen of Hearts, who, correspondingly was Queen Victoria. There were pieces of evidence that Carroll was not overly timid by the Queen. The aristocracy of violence that was assigned to Wonderland (the Queen and the Duchess) as well as the ludicrous mangling of justice in the trial ( Sentence first, then verdict ; the British system indeed at that time in shambles.) are often used as the evidence that Alice belonged to perhaps the genre of political satire more than Carroll had realized. Now You See It...Now You Don t Illusionistic Ceiling Painting of the Seventeenth Century Introduction: Webster s dictionary defines illusion as a perception of something objective existing in such a way as to cause misinterpretation of its actual nature . In Europe during the seventeenth century, or the Baroque era, certain artistic implementations of spatial illusion were established. The influence of perception was deteriorating and being questioned. Artists of the time reacted suitably with paintings and structures intended to fool the eye, the literal meaning of trompe l oeil. This style, not new by any means, was revived in Baroque art, giving the viewer pause to ask Is this real? as well as to cause a sense of wonderment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another technique was quadratura, which was where a wall or ceiling was painted with architectural elements such as columns and arches by using tools such as foreshortening, and other spatial effects to create the illusion of a three dimensional space on an otherwise two dimensional or mostly flat ceiling surface above the viewer, seeming to extend the real architecture of the room into an imaginary space beyond the confines of the walls or ceiling. The Love of the Gods Ceiling Fresco of Galleria Farnese 1597 1604 AD Annibale Carracci Fresco 60 x 18 At the end of the sixteenth century and the beginning of the century that followed, there arose in Rome one of the greatest works of art which, without exaggeration, may be called one of the pillars on which seventeeth century painting in Europe rests; the ceiling frescoes of the Galleria Farnese in the Palazzo Farnese, painted by Annibale Carracci. Carracci was a slave to educating himself in all things pertaining to art. He researched the old masters techniques and styles to better improve his own and to seek inspiration. He was obsessed with the antique , and by investigating such masters as Michaelangelo and Raphael, he was then able to improve his skill. Annibale s drawings inspired by the works of the old masters, are perhaps best understood in the wider substance of his use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Struggling to hold my inner elation of the job being complete, I have no choice but to wait until Dana gets back. I m gonna quickly run upstairs, I tell Ryan, so I can grab the money we now owe him. Cool. You got any beers in the fridge? He asks. Yeah, I think Amy got some the other day. Grab me one, I reply. Alright, Ryan s voice fades into the background as I pace upstairs. Here s your beer, Ryan extends a chilled bottle to me as I walk into the living room. Cheers, I grab it and sit down on the couch. He follows suit by perching himself on the armchair opposite me. The money I owe you, it s here, I toss the bundles of cash on the small glass table between us. Kurosawa used these comical costumes to give Inokichi and the other gamblers a rich and wealthy, yet stupid sort of look, implying that although the gamblers in town are greatly feared, greedy, and rich, inside it all they are all incredibly stupid and contain little common sense. Although not commonly thought of or considered, Kurosawa used a large amount of artificial lighting and dramatic scenery to create effects that he wanted to portray. Without these, Kurosawa would not have been able create the effect that he did during the film. The Yakuza clan was a group that although well known and feared, did much of their organized crime under the radar and out of sight of authorities. The scene following their crime was often a trail of destruction. Kurosawa decided to satire this with his use of artificial light and dramatic scenic settings. Kurosawa used artificial light to bring the events of the Yakuza clan to light. Since most of the crime done by then is in the dark or undercover, Kurosawa added humor by adding light to everything and thus removing the stealth factor the Yakuza clan always operated by. To further satire them, Kurosawa showed that events that occurred in daylights could often end in incredibly pathetic manners. The best instance of this is in the beginning of the film after Sanjuro decides he will leave Seibei and simply watch the fight between the two gangs. The two gangs nervously edge ... Although it commonly affects premature babies, it can happen in term babies as well. It usually occurs during the first two to four weeks of life in premature babies and in one to three days for up to one month in term babies. For the premature babies, their organs are not fully developed and it puts them at risk for disease. It is an acute inflammatory disease that is characterized by damage to the intestinal tract and can range from mucosal injury (the lining of the intestines), to full thickness necrosis (where the tissue dies) and perforation (where there is a hole in the intestine. The exact cause is unknown but some ideas are that babies have underdeveloped intestines, there may have been too little oxygen or blood flow to the intestines, injury to the intestinal tract, a heavy growth of bacteria in the intestines that erodes the intestinal wall, and formula feedings. Although NEC can occur anywhere in the intestines and colon, it commonly affects the terminal ileum (where the small intestineconnects to the large intestine) and the proximal ascending colon.
