Managing European, Brazilian and African Portuguese Translations
As the sixth most spoken language in the world and with 260 million potential buyers, it is only natural that Portuguese peaks your company’s interest. But succeeding in the Portuguese-speaking market requires a solid understanding of its history, geopolitical developments and the evolution of popular culture. More important, it requires acknowledgement that there are more than one Portuguese variant, both spoken and written. This article brings an interesting perspective on how subtle changes to your localization strategy can positively influence your message to Portuguese-speaking audiences all around the world.

People across the globe have access to materials such as journals, articles, adverts etc. via the internet. However
many of these resources come in diverse nature of languages. Although, English language seems most suitable to

Foreign language courses provide individuals with the skills and knowledge to communicate effectively in a language other than their own.
Language is a system of communication consisting of sounds, words, and grammar, or the system of communication used by people in a particular country or type of work.[1]
It is a common knowledge that English is now the global language of business. Many multinational companies are mandating English as their common corporate language in an attempt to facilitate communication and performance across geographically diverse functions and business endeavors.[2]

Why Does T
his Matter?
You are living in one of the most exciting times because of opportunities to work
and interact with people from across the globe. Only a few decades ago, few busi-
nesspeople worked closely with members of other cultures. Now, however, global
business connections have increased rapidly, and you will undoubtedly work across
cultures throughout your career. For example, you will probably have some chances
to travel internationally for work assignments. More frequently, however, you are likely
to work across cultures by collaborating with work
teams in India, videoconferencing or emailing with
customers or suppliers in China, or working in a
culturally diverse office in your hometown. The pos-
sibilities are immense!
The rapid growth in intercultural business con-
nections is driven by technological and cultural
forces of globalization. Technology has allowed
people to nearly instantaneously communicate with
people around the world, transact business, and
move capital. These technologies include the Inter-
net, the digitization of work, ATMs, credit cards,
smart cards, and GPS. Furthermore, convergence
of many business standards and platforms has
made conducting business easier and more predict-
able. These common standards and platforms in-
clude English as a global business language, trade
agreements that specify rules for commerce (the
World Trade Organization and North American
Free Trade Agreement), and quality standards in manufacturing (e.g., supplier-customer
relationships driven by ISO 9000 quality standards). Also, many non-Western ex-
ecutives are trained in business schools in the United States, Australia, and Western
Europe, creating a more homogeneous business culture around the world. 1
Throughout this chapter, you will see a variety of national cultures compared. The
countries selected for this chapter are among the most important trading partners for
the United States and Canada. In terms of trade volume, countries such as China
(including Taiwan), Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany dominate.
(See Table 4.1 for the most important trading partners of North America.) Of course,
you will likely work with business professionals, clients, or customers from many other
national backgrounds. Your business discipline, company, and industry will factor into
the national cultures wi ...

2.4 International and Intercultural Interpersonal Communication
Learning Objective # 4: What additional challenges are present in international and intercultural interpersonal
communication?
Conducting business in today's modern business environment presents exciting opportunities for businesses and individuals. Markets and sales expand as
new social contacts are made and undiscovered cultures are explored, both within a nation's boundaries and with potential customers in other countries.
Many U.S. companies recognize the existence of two distinct potential advantages present due to cultural differences within the nation's borders. First, a rich
pool of new employees with diverse perspectives and interests infuses energy into a company's operations. Second, many cultural groups, including
Hispanics and Asian Americans, offer valuable target market segments that may be reached.
International business programs often begin with expansion into countries with many of the same cultural conditions, such as a Canadian irm selling
products in the United States. Soon, however, an international program can move into countries with different languages and cultures. In both circumstances,
effective business communication involves understanding of—and adaptation to—cultural nuances and differences.
Cultural Dimensions
To understand individual communication while accounting for cultural differences, take note of the primary types of cultural differences. For years, the most
widely-cited dimensions of culture have been those proposed by Geert Hofstede, as displayed in Table 2.11. (More detail can be found at:
http://www.geert-hofstede.com (http://www.geert-hofstede.com) .)
Table 2.11: Hofstede's value dimensions of culture
Power Distance Distance between leaders and followers; authoritarian versus collaborative relationships
Individualism or Collectivism Value of personal status versus loyalty to the group
Masculinity-Femininity Male-dominated society versus more equal status between genders
Uncertainty Avoidance Risk-taking versus risk-avoidance societies
Short- or Long-Term Orientation Immediate versus long-term, strategic outcomes
Power distance affects communication patterns between individuals and in group settings. A culture exhibiting high power distance is one in which
managers are far less approachable by low-ranking employees. In such a culture, rank affects patterns of collaboration. Use of formal language becomes
more likely in higher power distance cultural settings. Conversely, in low power distance cultures, l.

Your abilities in international management have been recognized, and your consulting assistance has been requested. The company Quasimoto Enterprises has been approached by a reputed Chinese firm that wants exclusive production and selling rights for one of its new high-tech products. The company has been looking for a strategic partner for the production of this product to reduce costs. Hence, Quasimoto Enterprises is very interested in exploring the possibility of developing relationships with this Chinese firm. This deal is very critical to growth of Quasimoto in the international market. Both parties are anxious and preparing for their first meeting in a month’s time to move this deal forward. This is the first time Quasimoto is doing business with China, and this is also the case with the Chinese firm.
The bold question below is my part of the project That i need you to complete. It has to be 5 double space written pages plus reference page Disregard the other two question and, its not my responsibility. I just added it to the email for you to have a full understanding of the what assignment is.
What does Quasimoto Enterprises need to know about Chinese bargaining behaviors to strike the best possible deal with this company? What should the Chinese firm know about American bargaining behaviors to strike the best possible deal with your company?
In your small group, develop a strategic plan for the negotiation and conflict resolution for Quasimoto's executive team for its first meeting with the Chinese. Also, develop a negotiation and conflict resolution plan for the Chinese firm for its first meeting with the Americans. Please note that because this is an important business deal for both companies, both of your plans should include the bargaining behaviors of both countries. Are there any similarities between their bargaining behaviors? Can they have a win-win deal?
APA format is mandatory (in text and in the reference section).
There are two main types of databases accessible in the library, through “FIND ARTICLES & BOOKS.” Keep in mind that the most popular databases are: ABI Inform Global, Academic Search Premier, and Business Source Premier. As a student, you must steer away from inferior Web sites with anonymous writers, articles found on consultant Web sites, materials on sites like QuickMBA.com, MarketingProfs.com, etc. Dictionaries and Encyclopedias most often repeat the information from your text. Acceptable Internet resources include among others government sites (especially for statistics). You are not permitted to use any open-source Web site in this course.
Present your findings as a 5 -7 pages Word document formatted in APA style.
Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:
1. TITLE PAGE. Remember the Running head: AND TITLE IN ALL CAPITALS
2. ABSTRACT. A summary of your paper…not an introduction. Begin writing in third person voice.
3. BODY. The body of your paper begins on t.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

1. Resume building. A necessary evil for all job seekers, made slightly less tedious by being
bilingual.
When we think about bringing different kinds of people together at work, language is one of the
biggest social challenges. Everything from basic communication to project management is made
tougher by language boundaries.
Hence, polyglots have a key role in building bridges between businesses and consumers as well
as between leaders and employees within the same organization.
This is true not only regarding work tasks. When you learn a new foreign language such as
Spanish you also acquire its cultural baggage, which works like a new pair of glasses that allows
you to see the world from their perspective.
MBA.com noted a study showing that employers value communication skills above many other
skillsets in the modern workplace -- and speaking Spanish is one of the strongest skills you can
bring to your resume.
Here's why.
2. The world needs polyglots to connect the dots
The world is changing at a rapid speed -- barriers are being crossed every single day by
technological advances and creative solutions.
Movements of human groups around the planet are being driven either by tragedy -- such as
natural disasters and warfare or by progress and jubilation derived from free trade agreements,
distance learning opportunities, and more inclusive international welfare policies, amongst
others.
As a result of these events, the workplace is also being reshaped. Diverse representation,
inclusive marketing, sustainable growth, gender equality, and sexual harassment prevention are
just some of the big topics on the professional agenda across trades.
Consequently, embracing multilingualism and cultural diversity helps companies to compete on
a global scale and, first and foremost, to create an inclusive environment for staff, shareholders,
clients, and whole communities.
Multiculturalism in the contemporary workplace
3. Some of the diversity and inclusion trends forecasted by Forbes Magazine highlight the
importance of the companies’ ability to show to the public that they truly care about a wide range
of people.
Enterprises that show their love for human diversity with specific actions have greater chances
not only to stand-out but to connect with a broader spectrum of flesh-and-bone individuals.
In this manner, that is what Rihanna did with Fenty Beauty by launching the biggest color shade
collection of make-up foundation to match all kinds of skin tones.
Today's professional environment involves interacting across these diverse backgrounds. For
businesses based in North America and Europe, the second language most desired is Spanish.
Why learning Spanish might land you a job
As previously discussed, languages are a launching platform to attain awareness, understanding,
respect, togetherness, and success. The workplace is desperate to accommodate individuals with
language skills.
4. Speaking two or more languages will increase your chances to overcome language and cultural
barriers in the workplace and achieve your dream job.
Spanish for instance, is the second most spoken language in the world and is spoken over 20
nations. Can you imagine how wide your window of opportunity will open once you speak
Spanish?
Resume Building: Where do You Write Language Skills on
Your Resume?
Each resume should be tailored to suit the job application. Ask yourself, is speaking a particular
language relevant to this position? Language skills should be given notoriety according to how
significant they are for the job.
Here are three different options to consider for optimized resume building:
1. List them under your general skills.
2. Add them to your education section to show you got a language studies qualification.
3. Create a separate section just for languages so you can include more detailed information
if you are a polyglot.
What does it mean to be Fluent in a Language?
Language skills can be broken down into four core abilities: listening, speaking, reading, and
writing. Sometimes a person can be more advanced in one area than another.
Language fluency is reached when a person has developed the above abilities to the level of
those who possess the language as a native tongue.
For example, a native English speaker who is fluent in Spanish is capable to speak, read, and
write as good as a Spaniard, a Mexican or a Chilean. This means that she is able to verbally
exchange complex ideas, read and follow instructions, keep-up with a fast-paced conversation,
compose all kinds of written documents, and conduct himself in an appropriate manner (without
offending locals) either in a professional or personal environment.
Some common terms used to classify language proficiency include ‘beginner’, ‘intermediate’,
‘conversational’, ‘professional’, ‘competent’, and ‘advanced’.
Although these expressions do provide a general idea of someone’s language skills, they are not
recognized as a certified measurement. Instead, there are accredited institutions and authorities
that test and evaluate language proficiency within an expert’s framework.
It is advisable to state your language skills using the official framework rather than the ordinary
scale to avoid ambiguity.
5. If an employer is looking for someone with particular language skills, you really want to make
sure that you are providing in your resume the information he wants to know at just one glance.
Make it prominent.
Resume building tips
There are several approved language proficiency rankings around the world. Make use of them
depending on your country of residence or the territory you are hoping to get a job.
Below are some of the most popular rankings that show a progressive mastery of the language
skills:
1. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) organizes
language proficiency in six levels.

How to add a foreign language to a resume
To illustrate foreign languages such as Spanish on your resume, make sure you provide an
accurate level of language proficiency as well as an array of examples of how you´ve used this
language in various fields like your education or work experience.
In addition, optimized resume building includes highlighting relevant facts such as if you´ve
studied abroad, travel to or lived in a Spanish speaking territory.
Keep in mind that using the term ‘native speaker’ is only appropriate if Spanish is actually your
first language or you are fully bilingual.
1. Offer clear examples of language usage.
7. 2. Create a bilingual resume.
3. Compose a bilingual cover letter.
4. Be ready to answer a job interview in Spanish.
