Once in court a judge called a recess, in order for an attorney to get his jacket and tie. The

Teenagers and Birth Control without Consent Three in 10 teen girls in the United States become
pregnant each year rate higher than any other individualized country. Research shows when girls
are counseled about the most effective contraceptives given choice of birth control at no cost,
percentage of pregnancies dropped 78 %( Oaklander). Teenage girls should not have to have parent
consent to have birth control because it clears the skin, it prevents pregnancy among teens, and it
eases pain from menstrual cramps. Clear skin is important to teenage girls because it reflects on
how they look, and how they see themselves as a person. Teen girls take contraceptives; a drug or
device to prevent pregnancy, to maintain the breakouts they may have throughout their teenage
years and so forth. Birth control helps by lowering body levels of androgen, a hormone that helps
produce oils (Crain, Surprising ). Estrogen present in oral contraceptives offsets the male
hormones and decreases the possibility of bad breakouts. The use of birth control can lower levels
of testosterone, which is a steroid hormone that stimulates the development of male secondary
sexual characteristics. Breakouts can also lead to marks on the face that can stay with a person

Even though one would think that because Woodruff is male, he would have a lot of privileges,
this is not the case. Woodruff s race eliminates any privileges he might have, especially when
faced against seven white boys. Woodruff finds himself almost powerless to the boys when he

Family Night Reflection
On Saturday October 28th, 2017 the St.Mary s Syrian Orthodox Church of Washington D.C. hosted
their yearly Family Night event. This event was created by the members of the church in order to
spread awareness of the talent and overall culture of our community. Although there was a slight
delay for the event, the performances throughout was very entertaining and informative. It ranged
from dances, songs, to speeches and minor lectures about growing issues in our society today. It
started off with many of the youth showing off their talent mainly through art forms such as
singing and dancing to cultural and religious songs. I myself assisted with the emcees of the night
and partook in the event by acting as Jesus for a skit and submitting a short film alongside friends
that underscored the situation of how a Grandmother from India would interpret the lifestyle in
America. The special talent of all our youth closed with a young boy performing his magic act that
wow d the crowd. After the acts, the remainder of FamilyNight included a series of speeches and
lectures from our Priest to other older youth members that discussed growing issues in the world
and how we can act to resolve these issues.

have good communication within a business environment is that it will assist in the success of a

When Hester is put upon the scaffold, many women speak of how this punishment is not harsh
enough, that public humiliation is too easy for a woman who made a personal choice of who she
wanted to be with but instead they believe that Hester should be branded with a hot iron. While

at the very least some of them have sinned privately as well, and they also deserve the stigma of

The debate amongst love marriage and arranged marriage will never stop. That is not the goal.
Everyone goes about marriage a different way. Having the choice between an arranged marriage
and a love marriage is helpful for many people. There are many more advantages to an arranged
marriage than a love marriage. In the past, arranged marriages were the most popular, but modern
times have shifted the view to more lovemarriages despite the disadvantages accompanying it.
Family is so important. An arranged marriageis accepted by the bride and groom as they believe
their elders are able to make the best decision when it comes to who the marry. An arranged
marriage focuses on family union. This establishes trust amongst family members and
automatically the new addition to the family has immense approval, something a love marriage
