The document discusses the value of stay-at-home mothers' work and argues they should receive a salary. It notes that a survey found the average salary for a SAHM would be $143,102 based on working over 92 hours per week in roles like chef, teacher, and nurse. Another source found working mothers report working 59 hours a week as a mom on top of other jobs. While raising children is rewarding, SAHMs sacrifice careers, freedom, and hobbies. The document concludes that given their important role in children's development and expensive nature of childcare, SAHMs deserve government-funded support, even if just for the first few years.
This is a brief synopsis of the bestselling book :"The New: dare to Discipline". I have no affiliation with the author Dr. Dobson, or his work that I have discussed here. This is a presentation made as a part of the psychotherapy seminar: book review series. In my personal oppinion, you should not take every word that is written in the book. Just like most other written things in this world, this should be evaluated and weighed according to the current time and situation. A good decision about parenting should be made, taking into account your own religious cultural and ethnic background, and most importantly the individiual needs of your child. This book does not provide a panacea for child rearing, nor it should be treated as a rule book, but it certainly lays out some basic principles, which shall remain applicable, no matter what tthe circumstances are viz, the need for structure, consistency with regards to parenting, not only in the punishments but in rewards, and how small gratifications and rewards which we do for the children anyways, can be utilized and will go a long way in making good citizens out of them.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

How much would a stay at-home mom's salary be ?
1. How Much Would A Stay-At-Home Mom's
Salary Be? It's Worth Every Dime!
SAHMs
Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs) Remember this next
time anyone asks what you do all day !
2. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• However you slice it, being a stay-at-home
mom is a round-the-clock job.
• From waking up in the middle of the night
to a hungry baby until the moment all the
little ones are fed, bathed, and sound asleep in
bed, they’re on call for every second of it.
6. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• Due to the many hats they wear on a daily
basis, it’s almost impossible to put a price on
just how much everything they do would be
worth financially in the working world, but a
recent survey tried to figure it out.
7. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• So, how much would a stay-at-home mom’s
salary be if she were actually compensated
for this full-time job?
• Well, some finance experts say she’d be
looking at a six-figure annual salary.
10. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• According to a survey conducted by
Salary.com, a stay-at-home mom’s salary
would be worth $143,102.
• That includes a base salary of $48,509 for the
standard 40-hour work week as well as 52
hours of overtime that equate for the extra
$94,593. And honestly, it’s worth every penny.
13. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• Researchers for the finance site got to these
figures by looking at how 15,000 moms
spent their days and what each of those
responsibilities would be worth as a job on its
own.
14. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• From there, they factored in the average
amount of hours worked within each of
those professions — for example, more than
11 hours a day as a chef whipping up snacks
and meals for the day, nearly five hours as a
judge laying down the law on whichever silly
argument their kids are fired up about today,
and about three hours working as a
psychologist — and crunched the numbers to
get to the well-deserved estimate.
16. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• The modern stay-at-home mom's jobs also consist
of the following:
• housekeeper, athletic trainer, photographer,
social media marketing manager, academic
advisor, tailor, recreational therapist, coach,
tax accountant, school teacher, groundskeeper,
plumber, nutritionist, and nurse. While those
are just a sampling of their many indispensable
responsibilities moms do on a daily basis,
seeing it in writing totally justifies that hefty
income (if it were a reality, of course).
18. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• Whether you're a mom at home with the
kids everything you do is an incredibly
important, and often thankless, job that
shapes how your little ones are raised.
• Even though this is an imaginary salary, those
six figures and the long list of daily tasks
shows just how much stay-at-home moms (and
dads) are absolutely crushing it as parents.
20. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• No one decides to be a stay-at-home mom
for the paycheck—but if we were to earn
one, it would put us in league with some
CEOs. Although it doesn't do much for the
bank account, a survey that calculated what the
average salary would be for a stay-at-home
mom is mighty validating. (Remember this
next time anyone asks what you do all day.)
22. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• According to the latest available data from
Salary.com, stay-at-home moms should earn
upwards of $143,102 per year when you tally
up 40 hours of work plus an average 52
weekly hours of overtime
23.
24. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• The total was determined after polling more than
15,000 mamas on the tasks they devote time to—
including everything from housekeeping to being
an unofficial psychologist to, yes, being a family
CEO.
• The working moms surveyed also reported
working 59 hours per week in the role of
"mom," which should qualify them for a pay-
check of $90,223 on top of what they earn 9 to
5.
26. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• Mom Jackie Semmens says at first she wasn't sure
if the math added up, but when she considered all
the services her partner would have to pay for if
she was gone, the bills would be huge.
• "My husband would need to put the kids in
daycare so that he could return to work. He'd
probably have to hire a housekeeper and, while
I don't think there are any personal chefs for
hire in our small town, he would doubtlessly
spend more money on take-out," Semmens
previously wrote on the subject.
29. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• The other most time-consuming include
cooking (14 hours per week), driving (9
hours), childcare (40 hours) and those
"miscellaneous" tasks that add up to 40 more
hours.
30. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• Because every mama's workload varies,
Salary.com also offers a way to plug in your
own data to calculate what your SAHM
paycheck would be based on how much time
you spend as a de facto nutritionist,
administrative assistant, academic advisor, etc.
outScripts/mswl_NewSearch.aspx
32. Stay-At-Home Moms (SAHMs)
• Of course, the true payoff of motherhood is
in watching our children grow, learn and
laugh—experiences that are priceless.
• Still, it is nice to have this data to recall on
those days when it seems like you got
"nothing" done.
34. Case Study: German family policy Pay to stay at home
The government plans a controversial benefit for stay-at-

• CRITICS call it a “hearth bonus” or “keep-
your-kids-out-of-school money”. The
government prefers Betreuungsgeld (“child-

• Few of its ideas are as contentious as a planned
€150 ($199) monthly payment to parents who
do not put their children into crèches.

The government plans a controversial benefit for stay-at-

• Germany's long-term worries include a
shrinking and ageing population, immigrants
who are not fully integrated into the workforce
and women who are both underemployed and
underpaid. German women work fewer
hours than women in most other OECD
countries Mrs Merkel has tackled some of
these problems in the face of resistance

40. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should Earn A
Government-Funded Salary
• I'm going to say something that I think many will
disagree with but it's something I feel pretty
strongly about: I think stay-at-home moms
should earn a government funded salary. Yes,
you read that correctly.
• You see, I grew up with a stay-at-home mom
(SAHM) and she made motherhood look pretty
darn wonderful. But most importantly, she is
probably the single biggest reason I am who I am
today
42. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should Earn A
Government-Funded Salary
• She was there when I needed her but she
didn't overstep her boundaries. She was my
mother and my friend, offering advice,
support and encouragement whenever I
needed it. To this day, I still find myself
calling her whenever I need advice or someone
to vent to about marriage, kids or work. I know
she'll answer the phone if I call her at 3 a.m.,
and she'll book the first flight out to my house
if I need her to.
44. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should Earn A
Government-Funded Salary
• To puts things in perspective, let's go over a
few interesting facts. Some studies suggest
that moms work the equivalent of 2.5 full-
time jobs. Think about that!
45. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should
Earn A Government-Funded Salary
• Whether they are working outside the home or not,
moms have a plethora of job titles and duties that go
beyond most people's daily to do list. In fact,
according to salary.com, a stay-at-home mom should
be earning an annual salary of $143,102. This is
based on moms working 40 regular hours, on top of
52 hours of overtime each week, which doesn't
surprise me at all. Between meal planning and prep,
laundry, running errands, paying bills, taking kids
to and from school, helping with homework, potty
training, housework and everything in between, it's
no wonder many moms rely on Starbucks and Rosé
to get through the week!
47. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should Earn A
Government-Funded Salary
• There's no question that moms play an
important role in the lives of their children.
This is especially true during the formative
years. When moms are present in their
children's lives, the children are happier,
healthier and better adjusted.
49. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should Earn A
Government-Funded Salary
• SAHMs are a really lonely bunch. Many
experience depression and isolation because
their days are spent caring for everyone
else. Most people don't realize what a big
sacrifice it is for women to stay home with
their children. They give up their careers,
their freedom, their time and their hobbies.
From the time they wake up until the moment
they go to bed, they are doing something for
someone
50. SAHMs are a really lonely bunch. Many experience
depression and isolation because their days are spent
caring for everyone else
51. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should
Earn A Government-Funded Salary
• Raising children is expensive, and that's
exactly why many women choose to stay
home with their kids. By the time you add up
the costs of childcare, a full-time salary often
becomes more like a part-time salary
52. Case Study:Stay-At-Home Moms Should Earn A
Government-Funded Salary
• And so, I think it's time we put our money
where our mouths are and support other
women; particularly stay-at-home moms. Even
if it's just for the first few years, let's show
them we appreciate and value their hard
work and commitment to family with a tax
funded salary. After all, happy women raise
happy children, who become happy adults;
and that makes for a happy world.
