Recommendation Letter For Alicia Panganiban
To the Graduate School Committee: I am pleased to write a recommendation letter for Alicia
Panganiban, our International Student Awardee for Academic Excellence and Display of
Christian Character and Commitment. I have known Alicia for more than six years as my
student in both core and elective courses at a Master s level. I came to know her very well when
she was my intern in summer of 2011, and hired her as my graduate assistant the following
semester until her optional practical training, which ended June 2014. I have been well pleased
with her as my graduate assistant that after her time at Regent, we then began planning on
launching the Ambassador Leadership Institute, a non profit that aims to provide a Christian value
base ambassadorial training to leaders who will become role models, solution providers, and key
influencers in their respective communities. Alicia has consistently been an outstanding student,
researcher, and leader both in and out the classroom. Her work ethic and energy is among the best
from students I have interacted with over the last twenty eight years in my faculty role. Amidst the
rigorous requirements of her courses as a full time student and the challenges of taking care of her
family and working for three professors simultaneously she meets her deadline on time, delivers
excellent work, makes no complaints, and maintains a warm disposition. She has managed her
family and work with devotion and tireless energy. I have never seen her

The Good Soldier And Brideshead Revisited
The beauty of modernist literature lies within its attempt to seek greater meanings within a novel s
many contextual facades, including nothing short of skeptical and often times insightful
interpretations of culture, along with philosophical positions and literary criticisms. In this way,
each description, metaphor, and seemingly simplistic sign attributes a deeper meaning; nothing is
as simple as it seems and should not be taken as a coincidence or just as a means of setting
description, but rather as a metaphor for a character s true feelings, indirect reference to social
changings of the time period, or even a reflection of the author s inner philosophies and personal
conflictions. Though different in plot, The Good Soldier and... Show more content on

The Good Soldier is a novel about how crucial the differences between appearance and reality
truly are, and about the reluctance of human willingness to accurately perceive events in light of
undesirable affairs that are outside of our protagonist s domain of control. The protagonist, John
Dowell, is the unreliable narrator of the novel and a naive man who is easily taken by
appearances in both the physical and mental forms. Dowell along with his wife are acquainted
with a wealthy British couple known as the Ashburnhams, who all together form the two couples
whose dwindling relationships shape the subject of the novel. For the duration of the affairs in
The Good Soldier, Dowell remains a man searching for order in a world which has turned
chaotic through his wife Florence s infidelity. Presenting himself as tolerant, just, and as the
victim of the novel; Dowell unintentionally paints himself to be a man who has faith in others
and in tradition, and who accepts that people are as they appear to be as his true colors are
brought to light in his recollection of the saddest story ever told . (Ford 1) For nine years, Dowell
assumes that Edward Ashburnham is perfectly honorable and trustworthy in every sense of the
way, because of Edward s high class status and reputation of being a good soldier. This false first
impression is the most fatal mistake Dowell makes in the novel, following that false assumption

Law and Equity
Law and Equity Essay
(a) Outline the development of common law and equity.
There was no system of law in England and Wales before 1066, as it was mainly based on
customs which were just rules of behaviour and the other used to be the decisions of judges. The
law in England and Wales built over the centuries. There were various methods of creating laws
which were called sources of law . However, in the 18th Century Parliament became more powerful
which lead the Acts of Parliament (statues) to be the main sources of law today. Decisions made by
the judges are also essential today as they interpreted Parliamentary law where there was no statue
law. During the twentieth century statue law and judicial decisions continued to be the major ...

The chancellor dealt with so many claims that in 1474 he was given his own court named as Court
of Chancery this is when a new law came into place named equity meaning fairness.
Equity historically had been an important source and still plays a vital role with many of our legal
concepts having developed from equitable principles. The word equity meaning fairness operates
on its meaning when adding to our law.
Equity and Common Law both systems functioned side by side and eventually a conflict
developed between these two systems and in that equity would frequently overruled common law
decisions and denied them. The problem was that the Common law courts would make an order
in the favour of the other party whereas the Chancery court would make an order in the favour of
the other party. This conflict was later solved in The Earl of Oxford s Case 1615 when the king
came to the decision that where there was conflict equity should prevail.
However, once the equity became a body of law rather that arbitrary exercise of conscience, there
was no reason that it needed its own court. Therefore, the two systems merged together by
Judicature Acts 1873 75 which established that equity and common law could both be administered
by all courts and provide the system we have today. Hence, common law advanced from customs
and on the other hand equity established from the problems in common law and today both systems
are delivered in all

Sekhmet, The Goddess Of The Gods And Goddesss In Ancient...
Ancient Egyptian civilization flourished with art and culture. Many aspects of Egyptian life were
over the top. One of those areas in particular was the way Egyptians worshipped their gods and
goddesses and depicted them in art. Their deities were prevalent in every part of Egyptian life; they
were all important, even if only to a local nome. One chiefly important goddess portrayed
throughout Egyptian artwork was Sekhmet, the goddess of war. Sekhmet, though a goddess filled
with bloodlust and a belligerent nature, was not only the goddess of war, but also goddess of
divine retribution, pestilence, vengeance, and conquest. Both a warrior and solar goddess,
Sekhmet was represented as a lioness and was often portrayed with a human body and the head
of a lioness. In some temples, tame lions were even kept to honor her. Sometimes, as seen in
Figure 1, she was shown in her cobra crown as well as with a sun disk. The sun disk represents her
connection to Re, the sun god, as well as her being a solar deity. The rearing cobra or uraeus also
appeared as a sign that the cobra and Sekhmet were collectively protecting the pharaoh. (The
Metropolitan Museum). Because of this uraeus she adorned, Sekhmet was sometimes associated
with Wadjet, the goddess of Lower Egypt.
Most often though, she was associated with Bastet, another feline goddess, though one of protection
rather than vengeance. Bastet was sometimes seen as Sekhmet s gentle counterpart. And although
Sekhmet was a patron

The Life of Fidel Castro
Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, born in BirГЎn, Cuba on August 13, 1926, changed his country ever
since he came to power. Castro s father, ГЃngel Castro y Argiz, was a wealthy plantation owner and
was an immigrant from Galicia, Spain. His mother, Lina Ruz GonzГЎlez, was ГЃngel s mistress
and house servant while ГЃngel was still married to Maria Luisa Argota. Castro was educated in
many Jesuit boarding schools, from grade school to middle school, in which he was a mediocre
student and was not well behaved, only focusing on playing sports. Although Castro attended a
religious boarding school, it did not affect him in any way and was still getting into trouble as a
young child. After Castro graduated from high school he studied law at the University of Havana.
In his classes, he became very fond of anti imperialism, socialism, and the political climate of
Cuban nationalism, which had helped him while in power. On February 16,1959, Fidel Alejandro
Ruz Castro was sworn in as Prime Minister of Cuba. Castro secretly started to turn to
Communism. He wanted to nationalize plantations and factories. The U.S. is known for its strong
opinion on democracy, so when the U.S. heard this, it caused lots of friction between Cuba and
the U.S. so Castro denied that he wanted to control Cuba as a communist. Castro then signed the
First Agrarian Reform Law, which prohibited foreigners from owning land in Cuba while also
only allowing 993 acres of land per citizen. Castro was then trying to develop

Sleeping is vital to the well being of a person. With enough sleep we have a healthy mind and body;
it makes us productive in our endeavors and makes us happy. However, sleep deprivation can cause
chaos and imbalance in our body. There are a lot of causes of sleepless nights and one of these is
Sleep Apnea.
Sleep apnea is a condition wherein there is cessation of breathing for 10 seconds and more during
sleep. It is a serious condition. Sleep apnea may be a preceding symptom of an underlying health
problem. There are two classifications of Sleep Apnea; the Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Central
Sleep Apnea.
There are various symptoms of sleep apnea. Because Apnea is experienced during sleeping most of
the symptoms are manifested during waking hours of the person. However, there are also some
manifestations experienced by the person himself and observed by his/her loved ones when
sleeping. These manifestations occur in both types of apnea.
The most common symptom is exhaustion at daytime. This symptom is common in both types of
sleep apnea. During sleep a

Rod-Shaped Cell Case Study
1. Under a microscope, you can see a rod shaped cell that is rapidly swimming forward. What do
you automatically know about the bacterium s structure?
How would the bacterium use its flagellum for chemotaxis?
Bacillus is a rod shaped cell. The flagellum on the surface of the bacterium can detect nutrients in
the environment and they are drawn to it when the nutrient concentration is high. It spins its
flagella to swim towards the nutrient. The movement responding to chemical gradient is called
chemotaxis. When the bacterium feels the decrease in nutrient concentration, it will change its
direction and orient to move where it can get a high nutrient source. If it detects a potential toxic
chemical it will draw away and spin and swim away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a virus that may cause the formation of papillomas and deadly malignant tumors. A
common term for a papilloma is a wart. The epithelium, or epithelial layer that these warts are
found on is the layer of tissue that lines the outer surface of the body, skin and mucous
membranes, as well as hollow organs, like the stomach or uterus and the body glands. However,
the virus itself infects the basal, or bottom most portion of the epithelium, when the epithelium is
traumatized by something like a cut or micro abrasion. When it touches the area of the skin or
mucous membranes that have a papilloma to any area of your damaged skin, it is a way to get
infected. It can get you infected even without visible wart. HPV may occur by having contact
with people showing no signs of the disease. HPV can cause deadly disease, notably cervical
cancer. This is a malignant tumor of the cervix. HPV has also been implicated with massive
amounts of warts growing in respiratory tract, suffocating people to death and also cancers affecting

Is The Dichotomy In Relation To The Baptism In The Holy...
Introduction This paper will compare and evaluate the views of John MacArthur and Keith
Warrington, in relation to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Particularly, focusing on their views as
to whether the baptism in the Holy Spirit takes place as a consequence of conversion or
subsequently, as a unique experience. Each author s views will be compared and evaluated using
other academic sources, with special reference to Biblical evidence. Finally, a clear conclusion from
the evaluation process will establish which argument is better founded Biblically.
The Initial Argument John MacArthur, a Cessationist, claims that at the moment of salvation all
believers are, baptised, indwelt and sealed with the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, MacArthur argues ...

The first part is found in John 20:22 and the second part is found in Acts 2:1 4. Warrington,
claims that a partial filling of the Holy Spirit was given in John 20:22, with a fuller filling given in
Acts 2:1 4. Furthermore, the first filling resulted in the authority to forgive and to withhold the
forgiveness of sins, whilst the second filling resulted in a more permanent indwelling of the Holy
Spirit (John 20:23, Acts 2:4).
However, MacArthur counters this claim by stating that in John 20:22, the Holy Spirit was not
given, but only promised. Evidence for this counterclaim is provided in John 20:26, whereby
eight days after this, pledge to be filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples are found to be locked
inside through fear of the Jews. Therefore, the disciples must have lacked the Holy Spirit s
manifest power and presence, proving that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given; a view supported
by KoМ€stenberger.
In order to evaluate Warrington s claim and to bring a conclusion to this argument it is essential to
analyse these passages in reference to other scholarly

Background and Purpose: SLAP is a superior labrum tear in an anterior to posterior direction of
the shoulder, affecting more than 4000 people in a year. Usually men between the ages of 20 30
and 40 50. The purpose of this case report is to show the relevance of the number of physical
therapy sessions after a SLAP surgeryrepair.
Case Description: The patient was a 41 year old male kinesiology professor physically active in
volleyball, weight training, and cross fit. The patient was diagnosed with a SLAP type II tear and
micro fracture visible on an MRI with arthrogram. Outcome measures employed were the
QuickDASH for functional disability symptoms and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to report the
level of pain. Some of the interventions used in this case were grade I/II manipulations, pendulum,
cryotherapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, PNF exercises, and closed kinetic chain
activities.
Outcomes: After 27 physical therapy visits post surgeries in a period of 6 months the patient
reported no perceived work disability after 52 weeks. Nonetheless, some functional disability was
experienced when it came to general activities and sports between 4 to 13 percent based on the
QuickDASH. Pain levels reported by the VAS remained considerable low. The subject reported the
pain level between 0 4 on a 10 scale; pain decreased to zero by week 10.
Discussion: Decreasing the number of therapy visits and increasing the interval of time off between
them, patients might be

Maestro David Stewart Wiley invited members of the community to attend an educational

she accidently drops a letter and her covert is revealed. Miss Strangeworth seems like the kindest
lady in town, but after one of neighbors discovers her secret, the entire village realizes that Miss

The roses in her garden symbolise Miss Strangeworth s character and reveal that appearance can
be deceiving. The author writes, Tourists who sometimes passed through the town stopped to
admire Miss Strangeworth s roses... My grandmother planted these roses, and my mother tended
them, just as I do. Miss Strangeworth never gave away any of her roses, although the tourists
often asked her (Jackson 249 250). Miss Strangeworth believes that it is important for her roses
to stay on Pleasant street. She is very similar to the roses and the roses reflect her character. Miss
Strangeworth s outside demeanor can be compared to the beauty of the roses, but her thoughts
and feelings compare to the thorns. For example, the townspeople recognize her as an elegant old
lady with pretty dimples and her dainty walk. However, they do not know that she writes evil
letters and masks a petty spirit behind her sophisticated manner. The roses are a significant part of
the story because they reflect Adela s character and show that Miss Strangeworth s appearance is
deceiving. Miss Strangeworth is very much like the roses in her garden, they both appear kind and

John Howard s Argumentative Analysis
Former prime minister, John Howard s contentious statement that Australians of this generation
should not be required to accept blame for the past actions and policies over which they had no
control (Howard statement, human rights report) contradicts Australia s character. This destructive
comment has deepened old wounds that are present from the genocide committed towards
Aboriginals of the Stolen Generation. Australiamust accept liability for past policies as they have

Australia has stalled the process of addressing the issues of former governments as the nation
possesses a narrow mindset of not being responsible for other people s actions. Many continue to
deny the existence of the Stolen Generation as Howard stated, I didn t believe genocide had taken
place, and I still don t. (Howard s statement, the Guardian) Due to the failure to act in a just and
sympathetic manner, it has resulted in 16,846 Aboriginal children in out of home care in 2016, in
comparison to 2,785 Aboriginal children in 1997. Australia must remove the finger from the
national pause button to provide comfort for the deserving Aborigines who were exposed to
prolonged suffering, abuse and persecution. The past, present and future generations need to
apologise as it is a continuous lifelong struggle for Aborigines as it never goes away. Just cause we

fall into three main categories: generalized onset seizures, focal onset seizures and unknown onset
seizures. Generalized seizures affect both sides of the brain at the same time (Type of Seizures,

Essay Existentialism
Existentialism
Existentialism refers to the philosophical movement or tendency of the nineteenth and twentyth
centuries. Because of the diversity of positions associated with existentialism, a precise definition is
impossible; however, it suggests one major theme: a stress on individual existence and,
consequently, on subjectivity, individual freedom, and choice {3}. Existentialismalso refers to a
family of philosophies devoted to an interpretation of human existence in the world that stresses its
concreteness and its problematic character. Existentialism is often seen as an irrationlist revolt
against tradiational phylosphy. Although this may be true to a certain point, existentialism has

Nineteenth century Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard
{4, 333} reacted against this tradition, insisting that the individual s highest good is to find his or
her own unique vocation. In terms of moral choice, existentialists have argued that there is no
objective, rational basis for decisions; they stress the importance of individualism in deciding
questions of morality and truth. Most existentialists have held that rational clarity is desirable
wherever possible but that life s most important questions are not accessible to reason or science.
The first to anticipate existentialism s major concerns was seventeenth century
French philosopher Blaise Pascal, who denounced a systematic philosophy that presumes to explain
God and humanity. He saw life in terms of paradoxes: The human self, combining mind and body,
is itself a contradiction. Later, Kierkegaard rejected a total rational understanding of humanity and
history, stressing the ambiguity and absurdity of the human situation. Nineteenth century German
philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche espoused tragic pessimism and life affirming individual will.
Heidegger argued that human beings can never hope to understand why they are here; instead, each
individual must choose a goal and follow it with passionate conviction, aware of the certainty of
death and the ultimate meaninglessness of one s life. Twentieth century French philosopher Jean

My Journey As A Service Coordinator
As a service coordinator, it is our job to provide support, coaching, referrals, and resources
needed so that the family and children involved in EI are able to achieve their outcomes and
successfully function once discharged out of Early Intervention. Although I am only beginning
my journey as a service coordinator, I have been assigned to work with over 40 families of
different incomes, races, ethnicities, and cultures. As a service coordinator I find the most intrinsic
value when working for families of oppressed populations. In my own personal experience as a
member of a minority Hispanic culture and f families of minority cultures are less likely to be
educated on early childhood development and the importance of intervening as soon as possible.
For that reason, I try my best to provide as much education as possible around the strategies I bring
forth to assist the child, which often includes articles, offering workshop sessions and bringing in
additional therapists onto the team. In addition to working with families of minority cultures, many
children are often referred to early intervention through the department of children youth and
families. Families involved in dcyf are often experiencing many difficult circumstances including no
housing, mental illness, domestic abuse and many others. These circumstances often leave families
feeling vulnerable, helpless, and without options. It is especially crucial and important to provide
support and guidance to help empower

Dual Citizenship Research Paper
To understand how U.S. citizens that legally declare more than one citizenship, and thus participate
in multiple cultural identities, first, it is important to analyze power and culture, then how the

Power exists in many forms, from the way in which society is structured through basic laws of
existence, to the power that governs social behavior and the ways in which we understand the

This disturbed the lives of over 800,000 individuals in the fall of 2017. The Trump administration
publicly announces an executive order that would strip legal security from Dreamers, or young

Deferred Act for Childhood Arrivals, (DACA) program. Hundreds of thousands of individuals were
publicly creating shared narratives to highlight their American identity and an identify that included
being in the country where their parents brought them to, while others acknowledging their country

remember their place of birth. Morrisey (2013) writes, DREAM activists adopted disidentification
as a tactic to develop and deliver their intentions for national belonging without radically subverting
current citizenship structures or entirely assimilating to them. In doing so, DREAMers altered the
conditions of national inclusion by engaging in a practice of disidentification that demonstrated the
possibility for creating coalitional subjectivity, and how it might be used to facilitate social change

Ethylene Glycol Poisoning In Cat
Ethylene Glycol also called antifreeze is a sweet tasting, odorless liquid. Due to the sweet taste
cats willingly drink the liquid that has leaked on garage floors or driveways. Only a tiny amount
can result in severe poisoning in cats. The toxic dose in cats is 1.4 ml/kg (Browne, 2016). For
example, a 3kg (6.6lbs) only needs to drink a teaspoon to be lethal. Dogs, poultry, swine and cattle
are other species that can be affected by the toxicity.
When the cat ingests the ethylene glycol is then absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and then
metabolized into the live. As the cat metabolizes ethylene glycol, this glycolic acid is further
broken down into excessive amounts of oxalic acid. That oxalic acid binds to the calcium in the cat
s blood. They combine and form excessive amounts of calcium oxalate crystals. It forms plugs that
block and shut down the tiny tubes that form in your cat s kidney apparatus. The body is not able
to get rid of the waste products; blood levels that include blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine
rise to toxic levels.
There are three stages of ethylene glycol poisoning:

Taking a Look at Cupping
Cupping is a form of therapy in which a glass or bamboo cup is placed onto the acupuncture
points of the skin after heat has been applied inside the cup to create a negative pressure. This
pressure causes the skin and underlying tissues to rise into the cup. The purpose of this is to
make sure that all of the toxins escape the body and increase blood flow around the areas that
have been blocked. Cupping originates from China and is widely used to treat areas where there
are qi (vital energy) and blood stagnation (Leung, Xue, and Cheng, 40). This flow is interrupted
because there is an imbalance in the body. In this case, the imbalance causes musculoskeletal
problems, lung problems, as well as swelling. Getting rid of the imbalance allows the qi and blood
to flow freely in which diminishes any physical pain and illnesses. In the East, chinese healers first
practiced this type of therapy approximately three thousand years ago to treat specific illnesses.
They used animal horns because those were the only things that resembled a cup at that time. In
addition, this therapy was known as the horn method, (Xiaofei, 242) partially due to the tool that
they had to use. However, as technology advanced, bamboo cups replaced animal horns, and
eventually glass cups became the primary tool for cupping. Therefore, cupping became the common
name for this form of therapy. In the West, cupping originated in Egypt, around 1550 B.C. The
Egyptians utilized cupping to cure just about any

Communication in Organisation
COMMUNICATION IN AN ORGANIZATION
INTRODUCTION
Humans communicate all the time, and most of the time we do it as a matter of course, without
thinking about it. We can define it in the following way:
пѓ Communication is one of the basic functions of management in any organization and its
importance can hardly be overemphasized. It is a process of transmitting information, ideas,
thoughts, opinions and plans between various parts of an organization.
пѓ Communication is the process of conveying information from a sender to a receiver with the

Mass Media Bias And Its Effect On The Media
Having control over an entire country s population s opinion is a powerful thing to have.
Possessing that control would allow you to direct how the population spends their money or even
who they like and dislike in politics. The mainstream media news outlets have this control and are
expected to give us information that is unbiased, fair, and not meant to sway our opinion. The
topic I will be exploring is bias in the mainstream news media and how it effects their viewers. This
is an important topic in the field of communication because it has such a great impact on any
country that uses mass mediato disseminate information. The information can be given to the
viewers with a certain twist to intentionally shape their view of an event, or it can be
unintentionally bias just by the tone and manner they are reporting on the event. I am going to
research how mass media news outlets influence the viewers opinion, and what goes in to
picking the news stories covered. These are controversial topics to get into, but important to
consider. They can have a very big impact on things like elections for a political office, support or
dislike of a certain group, or can sway your opinion of who is the hero in a certain story. My
sources will need to show specific examples of how the media is biased towards one opinion, what
the effects are from this are, and who makes the determines the bias that is being displayed.

Theme Of Idealism In Twelfth Night
Idealism is the group of philosophies which assert that reality, or reality as we can know it, is
fundamentally mental, mentally constructed, or otherwise immaterial. Idealism emphasizes how
human ideas especially beliefs and values shape society. Essentially, it is any philosophy which
argues that the only thing actually knowable is consciousness, whereas we never can be sure that
matter or anything in the outside world really exists. Thus, the only real things are mental entities,
not physical things. Idealism could include many religious viewpoints, although an Idealistic
viewpoint need not necessarily include God, supernatural beings, or an existence after death.

character of woman Olivia. Olivia is a beautiful lady of noble birth who lives in Illyria. Because
he is described as a noble, Olivia maybe a very beautiful, gorgeous, attractive, prepossessing
woman. That is why Orsino fell in love with her. In the story, Orsino lies around listening to
music, pining away for the love of Lady Olivia. He show to Olivia how deep and passionate his

dead brother, and refuses to entertain any proposals of marriage. Because of that occurrence,
Orsino become very depressed and frustrated. This case shows the idealism of a particular person

Sealed Air was faced with two different options regarding the prospective launch of an uncoated

locations or consider the option of not entering the uncoated bubble packaging market at all.
As with all the evaluation of all new product market entry strategies, Sealed Air must first consider
its organizational strengths and how they relate to the potential product launch. More specifically,
Sealed Air must be cognizant of their widely respected brand of high quality and superior
performance coated bubble packages. With the potential launch of an uncoated bubble packaging
product, Sealed Air risks diluting their brand value, particularly in the quality and performance
conscious US market. There is also the possibility that the introduction of an uncoated bubble wrap
product might negate the consumer education the organization has previously performed regarding
the advantages of coated bubble products. An additional organizational strength of Sealed Air is
their corporate management goal of both market leadership and technological innovation. Entry into

The Idea Of Friendship In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics
Essay Prompt 2a: The idea of friendship is discussed extensively in Aristotle s Nicomachean
Ethics. Aristotle believes that friendship is necessary in life and that no one would choose to live
without friends even if he had all the other goods (1155a.5). In other words, no matter how rich or
poor, or misfortunate or successful a person was, he will always want friendship. Friendship,
according to Aristotle, is complete virtuebecause good will is reciprocated among the two friends.
Furthermore, friendship has to do with selflessness and the wish for goods to each other.
However, friendship is not always complete . In society, there are three types of friendship: one for
utility, one for pleasure, and one for the sake of friendship. Of the three, the third type of friendship
is the only one that yields complete virtue.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of friendship is one that seeks some sort of good. More specifically in this friendship,
each friend looks for profit out of the other friend. However, when the thing that each has to
offer to the other becomes irrelevant, this friendship will dissolve. This is because friends for
utility were never friends of each other, but of what was expedient for them (1157a.15).
Friendship for utility is strictly revolved around what goods the other person can offer to the table.
This type of friendship, according to Aristotle, is the least complete because there is no sense of
goodwill towards each friend each committed to the friendship for his own selfish gains. Because of
this, friendship for utility is the easiest and quickest to

Search for Innocence in American Modernism Essay
Search for Innocence in American Modernism
American Literature from its very beginning has been centered around a theme of innocence. The
Puritans wrote about abandoning the corruption of Europe to find innocence in a new world. The
Romantics saw innocence and power in nature and often wrote of escaping from civilization to
return to nature. After the Civil War, however, the innocenceof the nation is challenged. The
Realists focused on the loss of innocence and in Naturalist works innocence is mostly gone.
During these periods of American Literature it seems almost as if a hole was being dug, a sort of
emptying of innocence, and after World War I the Modernists called this hole the wastelandMany
Modernist works focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, a return to innocence is almost like a return to virtue. The example of this that comes
most readily to mind is the complete turn around of Jean Valjean in Victor Hugo s Les Miserables.
It is remembering that the world really can be a place filled with beauty and wonder, virtue and
meaning, and then acting so as to belong to that world, rather than the world of the wasteland.
What does it mean to belong to the world of the wasteland?
Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water. (Eliot, 1448)
Son of man refers to Ezekiel II, I where God directs Ezekiel to stand. The inhabitants of the
wasteland are fallen and unenlightened, their personalities and world fragmented. There is no love
in the wasteland, only alienation. The couple in Hills Like White Elephants find themselves unable
to communicate, as is shown by their meaningless and shallow conversations and their inability to
understand one another when they do say anything meaningful. This lack of communication is also
displayed in the following lines of The Wasteland:
My nerves are bad to night. Yes, bad. Stay with me.
Speak to me. Why do you never speak. Speak.

Tim Burton Cinematic Style
Tim burton is a famous director who earned an Oscar nomination for best animated feature. He is
famous for his uniquely directed films such as Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and The Chocolate
Factory and Corpse Bride. His style can be described as childish, but at the same time dark, which
can also be described as a perfect mix between Walt Disney s style and Edgar Allen Poe s style.
Throughout his widely famous movies, he uses flashbacks, non diegetic sounds, low key lightning,
and close ups in order to create strange characters that the audience sympathizes with.
First of all, Flashbacks is a cinematic technique that is often used in Burton s films, and his purpose
when using this cinematic technique is to make the audience feel sympathy for his characters
despite their oddness. An example would be when Edward Scissorhands remembers a flashback of
how he killed his inventor, so he didn t want to make the same mistake towards Kim and hurt her.
This is very significant because it reveals to the audience what Edward had to go through during
his past. To wrap it up, Tim Burton uses flashbacks throughout his self directed films in order to
make the viewers feel sympathetic towards odd characters. Second, director Tim ... Show more

Pet Ownership And Perceived Well Being
The researcher s hypothesis regarding pet ownership and perceived well being was not supported
by the data. Pet ownership was not related to perceived well being, even after controlling for the
gender of participants. The results of this study concurred with the results from Staats and
colleagues (2006) study. Both studies were unable to find a significant relationship between pet
ownership and perceived well being. However, unlike Staats and colleagues (2006) study, this study
did not obtain information on whether participants subjectively believed that pet ownership would
improve their well being. Future studies should incorporate this factor in order to understand the
effect of positive psychology.
The results of this study conflicted with the other previous researches. As indicated by Jorm and
colleagues (2002), pet ownership was associated with longer survival rates in patients who had
experienced a heart attack. Unlike coronary patients, the participants of this study did not suffer
any medical conditions, and not to the researcher s knowledge, ever experienced a heart attack.
Perhaps patients who experienced a heart attack were more attached to their pets as a form of
distraction from any lingering effects of the episode.
Further, in the study conducted by McConnell and colleagues (2011), it was revealed that pet
owners experienced greater perceived well being, and were not as vulnerable to feelings of
loneliness. McConnell and colleagues (2011) had incorporated

Mary Tudor s The Queen Of The Throne
Mary Tudor journeyed on a wild adventure throughout her life as she rose to the throne. Her life
began on February 18th in 1516, when she was born to her parents King Henry and Catherine of
Aragon at the Palace of Placentia, which is located in Greenwich, England. She was a marvelous
blessing to her parents, and the events that happened when she was young greatly affected her life
as she got older as well. The Mary Tudor Biography states, She was the only child of King Henry
VIII and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, to survive through childhood. She was baptized as a
Catholic shortly after her birth. These details may seem minuscule to her life, but they are very
crucial since they are the base of her future beliefs, like religion and values, and how her
childhood plays out. These carried on with her throughout her life and greatly impacted the events
that led up to Mary arising as queen. Mary became the queen of England through being the oldest
living child of King Henry VIII, her profound benevolence towards the English, her ardent belief in
turning England into a Catholic country, and because she was the rightful heir of the throne by
blood when the people before she died.
First off, Queen Mary 1 ascended to the throne by being the oldest child that was alive of King
Henry VIII at one point. The first wife that King Henry VIII married was Catherine of Aragon.
Unfortunately, She had endured many miscarriages, one stillbirth and the death of an infant son

The River Between By Ngugi Wa Thiong
In the novel The River Between, Ngugi wa Thiong o expresses a strong moderate nationalist
sentiment displayed in various ways. The subject of this novel, is a meaningful portrayal of how
the theme of colonization is at the heart of most African literature written in English. The River
Between was Ngugi s first work to be published in his own language, Gikuyu and then translated
into English. His radical shift from the use of the European languages to the use of an indigenous
African language, Gikuyu, was a way of fighting imperialism: I believe that my writing in Gikuyu
language, a Kenyan language, an African language, is part and parcel of the anti imperialist
struggles of Kenyan and African peoples . The novel addresses the early days of colonial
intervention and richly illustrates the interference of the pre colonial tranquil tribal life style at the
hand European missionaries and colonizers . Apart from the novel s primary language of
publication we see Ngugi s nationalist mindset through the Kikuyupeople and their actions
throughout the historical fiction. The issues of cultural and national identity are made obvious
which tie into Ngugi s perspective towards the Europeans. Furthermore, through the protagonist
Waiyaki, we are further able to envision the aspiration to overcome colonialismthrough his very
own desire to unite the two feuding ridges at the time, Mukuyu and Kameno. Most of African
literature in the colonial and postcolonial Africahas been

Taylor s Life Choices in The Bean Trees by Barbara...
In The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, protagonist Taylor Greer is not your average teenage
girl from Pittman, Kentucky. Taylor refuses to remain in her hometown forever, which only leads
to teenage pregnancy and motherhood until death. On a mission to escape Pittman s stereotypical
teenage girl image, she buys a 55 Volkswagen and embarks on a journey west. Just when she
thinks she is home free, Taylor is left with an abandoned three year old American Indian girl.
Ironically, Taylor ends up as an unplanned single mother. The two end up living in Tucson, Arizona

Her children would have had more open hearts to the world because unlike Turtle, they never
would have had to experience what Turtle did at such a young age. Due to the difference in
Taylor s children s behaviors, her parenting skills would have been divergent as well. In Arizona,
Taylor had to move at a much slower pace with Turtle because of the trepidation she was filled
with from her previous home life. After months of being together, three year old Turtle finally
utters her first word to Taylor Bean, Turtle said. Humbean (Kingsolver 97). This reveals how much
more effort it took Taylor to reach out to her daughter. In Arizona she had a much more abrupt
maturing into a woman and mother than if she had stayed in her hometown. Taylor had to grow up
significantly faster than if she had gone through the process of pregnancy in Pittman. There, Taylor
would be able to become more mentally and physically prepared for being a mother. Before
leaving on her journey west, Taylor had been living with her single mother, Alice Greer. Since
the day Taylor was born, she and Alice both depended on each other for most everything. By
leaving, Taylor was gaining independence for both her and her mother alike. In Arizona Taylor
lived with Lou Ann Ruiz, a fellow Kentuckian who was also new to raising a child alone. Both
Lou Ann and Taylor were able to discover new sides of themselves and learn how to live without

Importance Of Fair Trade Movement
Trade is the act of buying and selling goods and services. This idea of trade became popular
globally, starting the fair trade movement. According to FINE in 2001, fair trade is defined as a
trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks greater equity in
international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions
to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers especially in the South (Moore,
Wilkinson, Redfern Snedker). The fair trademovement originated in the late nineteenth century. It
began as charitable organizations and political solidarity trading with poor communities in the
1940s until it expanded to become a movement in the 1960s 1970s. The movement was officially
created when the leading traders and importers joined forces from multiple different countries. The
movement was created to to import goods for trade. Fair trade organizations (backed by consumers)
are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in
the rules and practice of conventional international trade (Moore 73 74). The importance of the fair
trade movement can be explained by the foundation of the movement, the goals of the movement,
the obstacles of the movement, current organizations who follow the movement, and the overall
movement itself. To begin, the fair trade movement can be understood by its organizations being
divided into four groups called the

The American Of The Mexican Revolution
At the time before and during World War II white Americans considered themselves the only true
Americans. In the 1900s during the Mexican Revolution, many Mexicans migrated to the United
States, to escape the violence that came from a national uprising against Mexico s government.
After the Mexican Revolution, many Mexicans fought for the United Statesin World War II.
Mexican Americanpatriotism helped to soften racist attitudes. Hector Perez Garcia was a Mexican
American Rights advocate, looking to change the poor treatment, disrespect, and discrimination
directed at Mexican Americans. Through modifying policies and laws with the American

Garcia s youth was a lesson (Sanchez Part 2). Dr. Garcia not only learned academically, but he
learned through everyday life. He learned how to cope and live with the discrimination that would
persist into his adulthood.
During his educational career Dr. Garcia, was exposed to many different views of the Hispanic
people. In the strive to achieve his goals, Garcia pressed on and graduated from a segregated
elementary school and was told in high school by his English teacher, No Mexican American

segregation and discrimination being constant in his everyday life. Hector Perez Garcia graduated

in a new world. He attended Edinburg Junior College, and transferred to the University of Texas at
Austin (Rozeff, Texas State). Hector Garcia s broad education contributed to the way he solved

Anticipatory Postural Stability
Sitting down is a postural alteration that is done many times throughout the whole day as well as
standing up. This task has been taken into account as a risk factor for falling in elderly population
(Mourey et al., 1998; Dubost et al., 2005). Stroke survivors have high risk of falling more than
healthy individuals not only in their acute stage, but also continues during the poststroke life span
(Truelsen et al., 2006). Postural stability is the capacity to maintain the body in a state of
equilibrium in static and dynamic situations. This postural stability is regularly impaired
poststroke(Yanohara et al., 2014).In hemiplegic patients, postural instabilityresulted by agreater
postural sway and asymmetrical weight bearingthrough displacing the body s center of mass
towards the unaffected side (Peppen, 2008).Some patients may have altered sense of midline and
motor control deficits. Maintaining a postural stability is an essential prerequisite for the more
advanced stages of motor control, including controlled mobility and skilled activity (Martin Kessler,

Turning Points In To Kill A Mockingbird
Everything has to evolve or else it perishes (Knowles 125). Turning points are the moments in
our lives that define who we are and how we feel; they help us evolve into different people.
Often, that evolution comes from a loss of innocence. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird,
Jem changes from a naive and optimistic child to a young adult with a more realistic view of
life. In John Knowles A Separate Peace, Finny also struggles with dealing with the reality of a
world he doesn t really fit in. Both boys face turning points that fundamentally change who they
are, and in some ways, destroy them. Phineas was a bubbly, charismatic, happy go lucky person
who seemed to love life and all the opportunities it brought. However, Finny s life completely
changed when he fell out of a tree and shattered his leg. Sports exemplified Finny, friendly
competition with no clear winners or losers. After Finny learned that he could not walk or play
sports anymore, his once optimistic thoughts changed. Later in the novel, Finny was no longer the
happy, energetic person he used to be. He was depressed about the current state he was in and upset
that he couldn t enlist in the military. Finny wrote to every... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead of accepting that he could not participate, Finny created a theory that the war was not
actually going on, instead, it was an elaborate scheme created so fat, rich, old men could make
money and keep all of the rationed food to themselves (Knowles 115). However, the real reason
Finny denied the war was because he was hurt by the fact that he couldn t participate. The fake
war was a way to hide his pain. He admitted to Gene that if the military accepted him, he would
have immediately dispelled his thoughts about the faux war and joined the real war effort. Finny
held on to his disillusioned innocence in an effort to preserve his life before the

Literary Terms For The End
Literary Terms for In the End Linkin Park s In the End is a song that many people can relate to
because it is about a situation that everyone has encountered. The approach Chester uses to
describe a hard situation by using the structure, symbolism and prosody he specifically picks out
makes the song catchy and relatable. The way he forms the song and the words he picked out
allows a depressing moment to become an inspiration for anyone going through hard times. The
most important literary term is structure, this is the beginning layout of the poem, story or song.
This is how the poem is organized it is where the author decides how the story is to begin, the
details that are going to keep the reader intrigued, the crisis and the climax and the way the poem
is to end, the resolution. Even in the song In the End there is an outline of how it begins and
ends. Right away the author shows that there is a major complication, he has worked hard at
reaching a goal or helping a person and has failed. Then further down in the lyrics he shows the
crisis, where all of the reasons are starting to build up as to why he has decided not to stay with
the other character in the song, he sings reasons like when you were mocking me, acting like I
was your property and fighting all the time. He even sings about everything has changed and there
is no way to bring it back. He then lines it up with when the chorus hits; we see the resolution of the
song. This part shows the realization that

the story because he is the only one, not psychiatrists, and foster parents, to make a difference in
Jim s life. Throughout the story, George is determined and hopeful, lonely, and fixated with the

evenings waking up in the middle of the night, His wife was visiting relatives out of town. He was
on his own . In addition, he told Bert Quinn, When the cat s away, this mouse gets lonesome .
Not only does he feel alone without his wife around, but also he frequently likes to escape from
the world of teaching. I have got at least one tiny corner of the universe I can make just the way I

lonely and disgusted, I don t see how I can stand it . Mostly in the story, George likes to be
teaching his students or engaging in conversation with others. However, there is the times when, by
choice or not, he is lonely.
Lastly, the most important thing in George s life is the beauty of music. He has a nightmare in the

school, there he reflected on the beauty of his instruments, As he polished he could hear the great

The Importance Of The Black Death
The Black Death was the second plague pandemic. According to a book by Liza Picard entitled,
Elizabeth s London Everyday Life In Elizabethan London, it claims that about a fourth of London s
population had died due to the plague (91). In total, one third of Europe s population died from the
plague (Zuraw). The Black Deathcaused many deaths as well as sparking religious speculations.
The Black Plague affected the economic life along with the theaters during Shakespeare s time.
The bubonic plague killed mass amounts of people in Europe. 80% of the contaminated victims
with the plague died, the other 20% survived (Benedictow). A quarter of London s population
deaths during Shakespeare s time was caused by the Black Plague (Picard 91). Also, another
article states, In the course of just a few months, 60% of Florence s population died from the
plague (Benedictow). The bubonic plague was spreading rapidly throughout all of Europe as well
as become the second pandemic. At one point the plague became was prevalent in England (Picard
91). The plague was highly contagious therefore it was able to easily spread around the continent as
a consequence multiple countries within Europe were infected. The bubonic plague had two other
mutations that were much deadlier. The Black Plague mutated into the pneumonic plague and
septicemic plague (Zuraw). These mutations killed a third of Europe s population (Zuraw). Based
on the book and articles, it both shows how virulent the pandemic was.

Modern System Of Public Health Services
The concept of the public, health was once compromising as the only governmental public health
agencies. However, modern system of technology and education has brought into today s green
light that, the public health sector, such as Medicaid, schools as well the environmental protection
agencies, plus that of the private sector organizations must be included in the concept. This is
because they are believed to have a very significant role to play in the healthof the public. The
services of public healthmainly have four components and they include mission, structure, process
and outcomes. However, the services of the concepts entail a lot, and ten of which happens to be
the most essential of it all will be discussed below.
Public health services develop policies and plans that support the efforts of the community as well
as the health of the individual (hhs.gov). And this practice or services include successful,
emergency response and state improvement that comes with community planning, alignment of
resources, which assures a successful planning versus policy development that protects and guide
the health of the public.
Secondly, studies show that, the system link the people in the community to the needed personal
health services they need and assures them of the available provision of care and even when
otherwise unavailable according to the centers for disease control and prevention (03/2014). This
also means it will identify the number of people with barriers to care

Sexism In Macbeth
Sexism in Macbeth
Throughout history women have been viewed as the weaker sex and are constantly being denied
their rights. Women have always been told that they are physically and intelligently inferior to men.
In Greek mythology, Pandora, a woman, opens the forbidden box that brings plagues and
unhappiness to mankind. When analyzing Greek and Roman tales women are almost always the
leading source of evil and temptation. Not to long ago, a woman s job was to strictly stay home with
her children, do chores around the house and to make meals for the family. A woman who
disobeyed these social expectations were often frown upon and those around her worried about her

Over that time she faced societal prejudice which helped her fight for a better America.
November 8, 2016, voters lined up to decide the fate of America s presidency. The following day,
the world turned on their televisions and devices and were shocked to find out that Trump had
won and the presidential campaign was over. But how could a man who had no background in
politics win against a woman who has devoted her life to the cause? The only logical explanation is
that our country is plagued with gender discrimination. A large percentage of Americans do not
trust a woman in a position in power and they believe a man should take the job. The 2016
Presidential campaign is an example of how things aren t much different than how they are in
Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is one of the very few characters in the play who explores their gender
roles. Throughout a large portion of the tragedy, Lady Macbeth annexes the role of the dominant
role in the Macbeth s marriage. It becomes clear that the gender roles are out of traditional order
when Lady Macbeth drives her husband to murder Duncan. In a traditional marriage in the Middle
Ages a woman was expected to never tell her spouse what to do, rather her husband should tell her
what to do. But on many occasions Lady Macbeth dictates Macbeth s actions and rules over her
husband. Lady Macbeth is aware that a woman in her time should not have an ambition for

  • 2. Recommendation Letter For Alicia Panganiban To the Graduate School Committee: I am pleased to write a recommendation letter for Alicia Panganiban, our International Student Awardee for Academic Excellence and Display of Christian Character and Commitment. I have known Alicia for more than six years as my student in both core and elective courses at a Master s level. I came to know her very well when she was my intern in summer of 2011, and hired her as my graduate assistant the following semester until her optional practical training, which ended June 2014. I have been well pleased with her as my graduate assistant that after her time at Regent, we then began planning on launching the Ambassador Leadership Institute, a non profit that aims to provide a Christian value base ambassadorial training to leaders who will become role models, solution providers, and key influencers in their respective communities. Alicia has consistently been an outstanding student, researcher, and leader both in and out the classroom. Her work ethic and energy is among the best from students I have interacted with over the last twenty eight years in my faculty role. Amidst the rigorous requirements of her courses as a full time student and the challenges of taking care of her family and working for three professors simultaneously she meets her deadline on time, delivers excellent work, makes no complaints, and maintains a warm disposition. She has managed her family and work with devotion and tireless energy. I have never seen her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Good Soldier And Brideshead Revisited The beauty of modernist literature lies within its attempt to seek greater meanings within a novel s many contextual facades, including nothing short of skeptical and often times insightful interpretations of culture, along with philosophical positions and literary criticisms. In this way, each description, metaphor, and seemingly simplistic sign attributes a deeper meaning; nothing is as simple as it seems and should not be taken as a coincidence or just as a means of setting description, but rather as a metaphor for a character s true feelings, indirect reference to social changings of the time period, or even a reflection of the author s inner philosophies and personal conflictions. Though different in plot, The Good Soldier and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Good Soldier is a novel about how crucial the differences between appearance and reality truly are, and about the reluctance of human willingness to accurately perceive events in light of undesirable affairs that are outside of our protagonist s domain of control. The protagonist, John Dowell, is the unreliable narrator of the novel and a naive man who is easily taken by appearances in both the physical and mental forms. Dowell along with his wife are acquainted with a wealthy British couple known as the Ashburnhams, who all together form the two couples whose dwindling relationships shape the subject of the novel. For the duration of the affairs in The Good Soldier, Dowell remains a man searching for order in a world which has turned chaotic through his wife Florence s infidelity. Presenting himself as tolerant, just, and as the victim of the novel; Dowell unintentionally paints himself to be a man who has faith in others and in tradition, and who accepts that people are as they appear to be as his true colors are brought to light in his recollection of the saddest story ever told . (Ford 1) For nine years, Dowell assumes that Edward Ashburnham is perfectly honorable and trustworthy in every sense of the way, because of Edward s high class status and reputation of being a good soldier. This false first impression is the most fatal mistake Dowell makes in the novel, following that false assumption Dowell gains momentum down the slippery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Law and Equity Law and Equity Essay (a) Outline the development of common law and equity. There was no system of law in England and Wales before 1066, as it was mainly based on customs which were just rules of behaviour and the other used to be the decisions of judges. The law in England and Wales built over the centuries. There were various methods of creating laws which were called sources of law . However, in the 18th Century Parliament became more powerful which lead the Acts of Parliament (statues) to be the main sources of law today. Decisions made by the judges are also essential today as they interpreted Parliamentary law where there was no statue law. During the twentieth century statue law and judicial decisions continued to be the major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chancellor dealt with so many claims that in 1474 he was given his own court named as Court of Chancery this is when a new law came into place named equity meaning fairness. Equity historically had been an important source and still plays a vital role with many of our legal concepts having developed from equitable principles. The word equity meaning fairness operates on its meaning when adding to our law. Equity and Common Law both systems functioned side by side and eventually a conflict developed between these two systems and in that equity would frequently overruled common law decisions and denied them. The problem was that the Common law courts would make an order in the favour of the other party whereas the Chancery court would make an order in the favour of the other party. This conflict was later solved in The Earl of Oxford s Case 1615 when the king came to the decision that where there was conflict equity should prevail. However, once the equity became a body of law rather that arbitrary exercise of conscience, there was no reason that it needed its own court. Therefore, the two systems merged together by Judicature Acts 1873 75 which established that equity and common law could both be administered by all courts and provide the system we have today. Hence, common law advanced from customs and on the other hand equity established from the problems in common law and today both systems are delivered in all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sekhmet, The Goddess Of The Gods And Goddesss In Ancient... Ancient Egyptian civilization flourished with art and culture. Many aspects of Egyptian life were over the top. One of those areas in particular was the way Egyptians worshipped their gods and goddesses and depicted them in art. Their deities were prevalent in every part of Egyptian life; they were all important, even if only to a local nome. One chiefly important goddess portrayed throughout Egyptian artwork was Sekhmet, the goddess of war. Sekhmet, though a goddess filled with bloodlust and a belligerent nature, was not only the goddess of war, but also goddess of divine retribution, pestilence, vengeance, and conquest. Both a warrior and solar goddess, Sekhmet was represented as a lioness and was often portrayed with a human body and the head of a lioness. In some temples, tame lions were even kept to honor her. Sometimes, as seen in Figure 1, she was shown in her cobra crown as well as with a sun disk. The sun disk represents her connection to Re, the sun god, as well as her being a solar deity. The rearing cobra or uraeus also appeared as a sign that the cobra and Sekhmet were collectively protecting the pharaoh. (The Metropolitan Museum). Because of this uraeus she adorned, Sekhmet was sometimes associated with Wadjet, the goddess of Lower Egypt. Most often though, she was associated with Bastet, another feline goddess, though one of protection rather than vengeance. Bastet was sometimes seen as Sekhmet s gentle counterpart. And although Sekhmet was a patron ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Life of Fidel Castro Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, born in BirГЎn, Cuba on August 13, 1926, changed his country ever since he came to power. Castro s father, ГЃngel Castro y Argiz, was a wealthy plantation owner and was an immigrant from Galicia, Spain. His mother, Lina Ruz GonzГЎlez, was ГЃngel s mistress and house servant while ГЃngel was still married to Maria Luisa Argota. Castro was educated in many Jesuit boarding schools, from grade school to middle school, in which he was a mediocre student and was not well behaved, only focusing on playing sports. Although Castro attended a religious boarding school, it did not affect him in any way and was still getting into trouble as a young child. After Castro graduated from high school he studied law at the University of Havana. In his classes, he became very fond of anti imperialism, socialism, and the political climate of Cuban nationalism, which had helped him while in power. On February 16,1959, Fidel Alejandro Ruz Castro was sworn in as Prime Minister of Cuba. Castro secretly started to turn to Communism. He wanted to nationalize plantations and factories. The U.S. is known for its strong opinion on democracy, so when the U.S. heard this, it caused lots of friction between Cuba and the U.S. so Castro denied that he wanted to control Cuba as a communist. Castro then signed the First Agrarian Reform Law, which prohibited foreigners from owning land in Cuba while also only allowing 993 acres of land per citizen. Castro was then trying to develop ... How would the bacterium use its flagellum for chemotaxis? Bacillus is a rod shaped cell. The flagellum on the surface of the bacterium can detect nutrients in the environment and they are drawn to it when the nutrient concentration is high. It spins its flagella to swim towards the nutrient. The movement responding to chemical gradient is called chemotaxis. When the bacterium feels the decrease in nutrient concentration, it will change its direction and orient to move where it can get a high nutrient source. • 11. Is The Dichotomy In Relation To The Baptism In The Holy... Introduction This paper will compare and evaluate the views of John MacArthur and Keith Warrington, in relation to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Particularly, focusing on their views as to whether the baptism in the Holy Spirit takes place as a consequence of conversion or subsequently, as a unique experience. Each author s views will be compared and evaluated using other academic sources, with special reference to Biblical evidence. Finally, a clear conclusion from the evaluation process will establish which argument is better founded Biblically. The Initial Argument John MacArthur, a Cessationist, claims that at the moment of salvation all believers are, baptised, indwelt and sealed with the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, MacArthur argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first part is found in John 20:22 and the second part is found in Acts 2:1 4. Warrington, claims that a partial filling of the Holy Spirit was given in John 20:22, with a fuller filling given in Acts 2:1 4. Furthermore, the first filling resulted in the authority to forgive and to withhold the forgiveness of sins, whilst the second filling resulted in a more permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit (John 20:23, Acts 2:4). However, MacArthur counters this claim by stating that in John 20:22, the Holy Spirit was not given, but only promised. Evidence for this counterclaim is provided in John 20:26, whereby eight days after this, pledge to be filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples are found to be locked inside through fear of the Jews. Therefore, the disciples must have lacked the Holy Spirit s manifest power and presence, proving that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given; a view supported by KoМ€stenberger. In order to evaluate Warrington s claim and to bring a conclusion to this argument it is essential to analyse these passages in reference to other scholarly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Usually men between the ages of 20 30 and 40 50. The purpose of this case report is to show the relevance of the number of physical therapy sessions after a SLAP surgeryrepair. Case Description: The patient was a 41 year old male kinesiology professor physically active in volleyball, weight training, and cross fit. The patient was diagnosed with a SLAP type II tear and micro fracture visible on an MRI with arthrogram. Outcome measures employed were the QuickDASH for functional disability symptoms and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to report the level of pain. Some of the interventions used in this case were grade I/II manipulations, pendulum, cryotherapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, PNF exercises, and closed kinetic chain activities. Outcomes: After 27 physical therapy visits post surgeries in a period of 6 months the patient reported no perceived work disability after 52 weeks. Nonetheless, some functional disability was experienced when it came to general activities and sports between 4 to 13 percent based on the QuickDASH. Pain levels reported by the VAS remained considerable low. The subject reported the pain level between 0 4 on a 10 scale; pain decreased to zero by week 10. Prior to the concert at 7:30pm, Maestro David Stewart Wiley invited members of the community to attend an educational discussion about the program repertoire. Nineteenth century Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard {4, 333} reacted against this tradition, insisting that the individual s highest good is to find his or her own unique vocation. In terms of moral choice, existentialists have argued that there is no objective, rational basis for decisions; they stress the importance of individualism in deciding questions of morality and truth. Most existentialists have held that rational clarity is desirable wherever possible but that life s most important questions are not accessible to reason or science. The first to anticipate existentialism s major concerns was seventeenth century French philosopher Blaise Pascal, who denounced a systematic philosophy that presumes to explain God and humanity. He saw life in terms of paradoxes: The human self, combining mind and body, is itself a contradiction. Later, Kierkegaard rejected a total rational understanding of humanity and history, stressing the ambiguity and absurdity of the human situation. Nineteenth century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche espoused tragic pessimism and life affirming individual will. Heidegger argued that human beings can never hope to understand why they are here; instead, each individual must choose a goal and follow it with passionate conviction, aware of the certainty of death and the ultimate meaninglessness of one s life. • 24. Ethylene Glycol Poisoning In Cat Ethylene Glycol also called antifreeze is a sweet tasting, odorless liquid. Due to the sweet taste cats willingly drink the liquid that has leaked on garage floors or driveways. Only a tiny amount can result in severe poisoning in cats. The toxic dose in cats is 1.4 ml/kg (Browne, 2016). For example, a 3kg (6.6lbs) only needs to drink a teaspoon to be lethal. Dogs, poultry, swine and cattle are other species that can be affected by the toxicity. When the cat ingests the ethylene glycol is then absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and then metabolized into the live. As the cat metabolizes ethylene glycol, this glycolic acid is further broken down into excessive amounts of oxalic acid. That oxalic acid binds to the calcium in the cat s blood. They combine and form excessive amounts of calcium oxalate crystals. It forms plugs that block and shut down the tiny tubes that form in your cat s kidney apparatus. • 29. Taking a Look at Cupping Cupping is a form of therapy in which a glass or bamboo cup is placed onto the acupuncture points of the skin after heat has been applied inside the cup to create a negative pressure. This pressure causes the skin and underlying tissues to rise into the cup. The purpose of this is to make sure that all of the toxins escape the body and increase blood flow around the areas that have been blocked. Cupping originates from China and is widely used to treat areas where there are qi (vital energy) and blood stagnation (Leung, Xue, and Cheng, 40). This flow is interrupted because there is an imbalance in the body. In this case, the imbalance causes musculoskeletal problems, lung problems, as well as swelling. Getting rid of the imbalance allows the qi and blood to flow freely in which diminishes any physical pain and illnesses. In the East, chinese healers first practiced this type of therapy approximately three thousand years ago to treat specific illnesses. They used animal horns because those were the only things that resembled a cup at that time. In addition, this therapy was known as the horn method, (Xiaofei, 242) partially due to the tool that they had to use. However, as technology advanced, bamboo cups replaced animal horns, and eventually glass cups became the primary tool for cupping. Therefore, cupping became the common name for this form of therapy. In the West, cupping originated in Egypt, around 1550 B.C. The Egyptians utilized cupping to cure just about any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essentially, it is any philosophy which argues that the only thing actually knowable is consciousness, whereas we never can be sure that matter or anything in the outside world really exists. Thus, the only real things are mental entities, not physical things. Idealism could include many religious viewpoints, although an Idealistic viewpoint need not necessarily include God, supernatural beings, or an existence after death. idealism is also used to describe a person s high, sometimes with the... In the story, Orsino lies around listening to music, pining away for the love of Lady Olivia. He show to Olivia how deep and passionate his love for her. However, Olivia refuse the love of orsino for her, because olvia pines away for her dead brother, and refuses to entertain any proposals of marriage. Sealed Air could either launch the product worldwide or in selected locations or consider the option of not entering the uncoated bubble packaging market at all. As with all the evaluation of all new product market entry strategies, Sealed Air must first consider its organizational strengths and how they relate to the potential product launch. More specifically, Sealed Air must be cognizant of their widely respected brand of high quality and superior performance coated bubble packages. With the potential launch of an uncoated bubble packaging product, Sealed Air risks diluting their brand value, particularly in the quality and performance conscious US market. There is also the possibility that the introduction of an uncoated bubble wrap product might negate the consumer education the organization has previously performed regarding the advantages of coated bubble products. • 37. The Idea Of Friendship In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics Essay Prompt 2a: The idea of friendship is discussed extensively in Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics. Aristotle believes that friendship is necessary in life and that no one would choose to live without friends even if he had all the other goods (1155a.5). In other words, no matter how rich or poor, or misfortunate or successful a person was, he will always want friendship. Friendship, according to Aristotle, is complete virtuebecause good will is reciprocated among the two friends. Furthermore, friendship has to do with selflessness and the wish for goods to each other. However, friendship is not always complete . In society, there are three types of friendship: one for utility, one for pleasure, and one for the sake of friendship. Of the three, the third type of friendship is the only one that yields complete virtue.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of friendship is one that seeks some sort of good. More specifically in this friendship, each friend looks for profit out of the other friend. However, when the thing that each has to offer to the other becomes irrelevant, this friendship will dissolve. This is because friends for utility were never friends of each other, but of what was expedient for them (1157a.15). Friendship for utility is strictly revolved around what goods the other person can offer to the table. This type of friendship, according to Aristotle, is the least complete because there is no sense of goodwill towards each friend each committed to the friendship for his own selfish gains. • 38. Search for Innocence in American Modernism Essay Search for Innocence in American Modernism American Literature from its very beginning has been centered around a theme of innocence. The Puritans wrote about abandoning the corruption of Europe to find innocence in a new world. The Romantics saw innocence and power in nature and often wrote of escaping from civilization to return to nature. After the Civil War, however, the innocenceof the nation is challenged. The Realists focused on the loss of innocence and in Naturalist works innocence is mostly gone. During these periods of American Literature it seems almost as if a hole was being dug, a sort of emptying of innocence, and after World War I the Modernists called this hole the wastelandMany Modernist works focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, a return to innocence is almost like a return to virtue. The example of this that comes most readily to mind is the complete turn around of Jean Valjean in Victor Hugo s Les Miserables. It is remembering that the world really can be a place filled with beauty and wonder, virtue and meaning, and then acting so as to belong to that world, rather than the world of the wasteland. What does it mean to belong to the world of the wasteland? Son of man, You cannot say, or guess, for you know only A heap of broken images, where the sun beats And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief, And the dry stone no sound of water. (Eliot, 1448) Son of man refers to Ezekiel II, I where God directs Ezekiel to stand. The inhabitants of the wasteland are fallen and unenlightened, their personalities and world fragmented. There is no love in the wasteland, only alienation. The couple in Hills Like White Elephants find themselves unable to communicate, as is shown by their meaningless and shallow conversations and their inability to understand one another when they do say anything meaningful. This lack of communication is also displayed in the following lines of The Wasteland: My nerves are bad to night. Yes, bad. Stay with me. Speak to me. Why do you never speak. Speak. What are you thinking of? What thinking? What? I never know what you are

He is famous for his uniquely directed films such as Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride. His style can be described as childish, but at the same time dark, which can also be described as a perfect mix between Walt Disney s style and Edgar Allen Poe s style. Throughout his widely famous movies, he uses flashbacks, non diegetic sounds, low key lightning, and close ups in order to create strange characters that the audience sympathizes with. First of all, Flashbacks is a cinematic technique that is often used in Burton s films, and his purpose when using this cinematic technique is to make the audience feel sympathy for his characters despite their oddness. An example would be when Edward Scissorhands remembers a flashback of how he killed his inventor, so he didn t want to make the same mistake towards Kim and hurt her. This is very significant because it reveals to the audience what Edward had to go through during his past. The subject of this novel, is a meaningful portrayal of how the theme of colonization is at the heart of most African literature written in English. The River Between was Ngugi s first work to be published in his own language, Gikuyu and then translated into English. His radical shift from the use of the European languages to the use of an indigenous African language, Gikuyu, was a way of fighting imperialism: I believe that my writing in Gikuyu language, a Kenyan language, an African language, is part and parcel of the anti imperialist struggles of Kenyan and African peoples . The novel addresses the early days of colonial intervention and richly illustrates the interference of the pre colonial tranquil tribal life style at the hand European missionaries and colonizers . Apart from the novel s primary language of publication we see Ngugi s nationalist mindset through the Kikuyupeople and their actions throughout the historical fiction. The issues of cultural and national identity are made obvious which tie into Ngugi s perspective towards the Europeans. According to FINE in 2001, fair trade is defined as a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers especially in the South (Moore, Wilkinson, Redfern Snedker). The fair trademovement originated in the late nineteenth century. It began as charitable organizations and political solidarity trading with poor communities in the 1940s until it expanded to become a movement in the 1960s 1970s. The movement was officially created when the leading traders and importers joined forces from multiple different countries. The movement was created to to import goods for trade. Fair trade organizations (backed by consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade (Moore 73 74). The importance of the fair trade movement can be explained by the foundation of the movement, the goals of the movement, the obstacles of the movement, current organizations who follow the movement, and the overall movement itself.
