Power And Effect Language In Imayam
Language is the most preferred method of communication in our life. It is the tool we use not
only to empower ourselves but also to direct our energy. Language has immense power and its
impact depends on how we use it. Writers, who know that language has such power, use it to
express their ideas and thoughts, whatever be their genre. The novels and other works of writer
Imayam exemplify the power and effect language could have on the readers as it has become the
medium of his expression.

Marketing in Business Success
Introduction
Today, marketing plays an important role in business success. Marketing drives successful
organization, but it is often misinterpreted and sometimes gets bad press (Jobber and Ellis
Chadwick, 2013: 4). Peter Drucker stated that the basic function of marketing is to attract and retain
customers at a profit . On the other hand, British Institute of Marketing (BIM) defines Marketing is
the management process for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements
profitably. Along with rapid globalization, changing information technology, changing consumer
profile and intensity of competition, marketing is more sophisticated than the past (Dalgic and
Yeniceri, 2013). There are many ways for new products approaching the markets. Many companies
use customer oriented marketing as the main strategy, especially in the context of the marketing
mix for their new products. This assignment will discuss customer orientation and its implications
of two factors of the marketing mix: product and price.
I.Customer orientation in context of marketing mix
1.Marketing mix
Based on understanding about customer behaviour, the companies tend to depend on their created
marketing mix to promote new products, which consists originally four key elements (4Ps) namely
product, price, promotion and place. Today, marketing mix is developed and includes other Ps like
physical evidence, processes, and people as critical elements (CIM 2009).

The Issues Of Jeju Tourism
Currently, the issues of Jeju tourism arise by the internal and external factors. The external factor
is the massive Chinese tourists. As after the Korea government offer the visa free access the Jeju
Island for chinese tourists, it brings some issues for Jeju. The massive Chinese tourists bring some
benefit on Jeju economy, but soon there arise some issues, such as crowded transport, depletion
resource and local resident s unsatisfied. The Jing Daily (2015) has posted an article Tension
Mounts as Chinese Tourists overtake Jeju Island . In this article, it mentioned the issues arise by the
mass Chinese tourists, related to economic, social and local cultural. The Chinese travelers have
become the most profitable tourists in the world and some countries start to change their tourism
regulation and policies to Chinese, such as Emirate allowed the extra baggage for Chinese tourists
to shop (Ryan 2014). The South Korean government found the way to increase their tourism
industry and grow their economy. They offer the visa free access to Jeju Island for Chinese tourists
which has an obvious benefit after this policy start. The Jeju provincial government director Kim
Nam sun said that the increasing Chinese tourists help them raise tax revenue and built a world
resort destination brand for Jeju (Nam 2015). However, as more Chinese tourists visit Jeju and
more investment in Jeju, this lead to some Jeju residents worried about their local environment. As

Financial Statements And The Financial Position Of A Firm...
Introduction
The overall purpose of financial statements is the provision of relevant and concise information
about the financial position of a firm or other business enterprise. Financial statements allow a
manager or analyst to make informed judgments regarding the proven and likely future performance
of a firm prior to the making of important investment decisions (Bernstein and Wild, 2000).
Purpose of the Income Statement
According to Melicher and Norton (2014), the primary purpose of the income statement is to
provide a concise report of the revenues generated and expenses incurred by a business entity over
a defined time period typically a quarter or a year. Importantly, the revenues and expenses referred
to in the income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will often include advertising costs, the salaries and commissions earned by the sales force,
and general accounting costs such as for the preparation of financial records and statements
(Melicher and Norton, 2014).
The final type of expenses listed on a typical income statement is depreciation. This refers to the
estimates made on the reduction in value of key production and other assets over the period
covered by the income statement. This is regarded as a non cash expense and is often applied to
items such as plant and equipment, vehicle or aircraft fleets, and some types of real property
(Melicher and Norton, 2014).
Purpose of the Balance Sheet
According to Melicher and Norton (2014), the primary purpose of the balance sheet is to
summarize a company s overall financial position at a fixed point in time typically the conclusion
of a quarter or year. A balance sheet is differentiated from an income statement in that the former
is, effectively, a snapshot of a business s financial position while an income statement provides a
reflection of financial performance over time. At its most basic, the balance sheet provides details
on the firm s assets, liabilities, and its shareholders equity as at a specific date.
Major Types of Assets
There are two major categories of assets listed on a typical balance sheet current assets, and
property and equipment (sometimes referred to as fixed assets).

Role Of Supernatural Elements In Macbeth
In the play entitled Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the supernatural is the most important
element in the play which leads to Macbeth s desire for the throne. Throughout the play,
supernatural appeals to the audience in various forms which is represented by the witches, the
prophecies, the floating dagger, and ghost. The existence of these supernatural elements in Macbeth
foreshadows the evil ambitions and actions possess by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Besides that,
these supernatural elements also are the key elements to the manipulative play as it evoke the
emotions among the audience to perceive the horror, mystery, evil and death throughout the play.
The introduction of the three witches with their prophecies in Act 1 Scene 3, about Macbeth after
he won the war against the Norwegians, at the beginning of the play has naturally motivated
Macbeth s actions to make the prophecies into reality.
The witches are not human or half ways normal when Banquo quotes to Macbeth that the creatures
are not human like as well as irregular in some sort and very unattractive. The witches then
presented as Macbeth s fortune tellers. The witches called Macbeth as Thane of Glamis, Thane of
Cawdor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The existence of supernatural elements in Macbeth played a huge role because without it Macbeth
would have never killed Duncan. The witches and their prophecies become the ultimate key factor
for Macbeth s dynamic character as their ability to foresee Macbeth s fate affect his actions and
endeavors. Macbeth was once a respected hero, but his desire to become King of Scotland
destroyed his nobility. It is also very effective as it highlights the horror, fears, cruelty and
blameworthy of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The elements successfully appeal to the audience s
curiosity of the mysterious and thus strengthen their interest towards the

Ethnography of Performance Essay
Ethnography of Performance
During a musical performance many elements to be looked are not easily recognized by the
average critic. A musical performance has multiple interactions taking place between the music,
text, performers, audience, and space that all can contribute to a great performance.
Overwhelming majority of the audience does not realize so much can be looked at during a single
performance. At a performance by the University of Maryland Marching Band I was able to
analyze the Musical Sound, Contexts of the Performance, and Interpretation of the Performance.
When analyzing musical sound there are many factors to pay attention to during the performance.
Important things to listen for are the pitch, scale, timbre, tone ... Show more content on

During the performance there were many overtones and one fundamental tone, which deals with the
timbre and tone quality. The overtones produce additional sounds that enable us to distinguish
between different instruments even when they are sounding the same pitch (Kaemmer:60). The
tone quality of the performance was very good. The music sounded evenly distributed and it was
very easy to hear the sounds of the various instruments. The band played two songs and one song
had a slow rhythm and the other had a faster rhythm. Rhythm means more than a basic beat
(Kaemmer:65). During the performance there was a steady rhythm. Also during the
performance there was a section of the song that sounded different and after about ten seconds
the song goes back to its previous sound. That sound was a melody. Melodies are combination of
pitches and rhythm patterns that produce a distinctive line of sound (Kaemmer:62). When the
band first began to play the song started in a low tone and the music began to escalate and it
reached a climax where the loudness of the performance was at its peak. Once at its peak the
music began to get softer and lower. This is an example of a linear form of the performance.
Linear form means a performance having a definite beginning and ending. The overall musical
sound of the performance was delightful and pleasing to the ears. The context of a musical
performance is another key part of any

Stereotypes At A Department Store
If you look at a department store, it is broken up into different sections based on age and gender.
Most department stores are divided into women s, men s, boys, girls, juniors, toddlers, infants, etc.
Within each specific section, there is a particular vocabulary used in reference to certain articles of
clothing, and genderplays a huge part in that. For example, Certain words may appear in the
women s clothing section that would never appear in the men s section and vise versa. In
America, the words skirt or dress will never appear in the men s section of a department store. That
is because society only recognizes skirts and dresses as a female clothing item. This is probably the
easiest concept to understand when connecting language

Knowing what happen in the growing baby in womb during the pregnancy time can make women
enjoy the exciting moment and help in reduce the nervous of giving birth. According to Trish
(2004), pregnancy is a special time and a healthy life event. During pregnancytime, women also go
through every emotional phase in her life time. A pregnancy woman s body also will undergoes
some physical change. The changes is important to assist for fetal development. There are three
stages of pregnancy which are the first trimester, second trimester and third trimester. (Refer to
figure 1 in appendix 1) The first trimester is the first stage of pregnancy. In this stage, zygote,
embryo and fetusdevelopment occur in the first three month. The first two weeks are not actually
considered as pregnant. Pregnancy will start about two weeks after the last period begins. In this
stage, the germinal stage begins when the sperm and the egg unite in woman fallopian tube to
form a zygote which is one celled entity. The formation of zygote occur with fertilization of the
oocyte which is the egg and spermatozoon the sperm combine and form a zygote which is the
simplest form of new human and will begin to split and divide into new cell that will become
organized, specialized, and form shapers of new structure as it become more complex. (Samuel,
2012).
This phase is called fertilization that occur in week three.

Genetic Modification Essay
Genetic modification is a subject that has been hotly debated in the past, and remains a topic of
controversy today. There are many critical discussions to be had with genetically modified (GM)
products, however, this paper will focus on corn crops that have been modified to incorporate
Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes. Corn is the largest food crop in the world and Bt corn is one of
the largest crops in North America. Bt corn has several benefits, yet, there are also many potential
problems with the crop and its impacts on local ecosystems. Although environmental issues may
raise concerns, Bt crops have an immense upside with proper management of the Bt gene.

He concludes, more investigation of the ecological and biological interactions involving the Bt
genes needs to be done before effective insect resistant management strategies can be crafted.
Increasing insect, bacterial, and viral resistances are some of the primary concerns with genetically
modified crops. Recently, there have been several new documented insect resistances to the Bt gene
that have raised major concerns in the scientific community about the future of genetic engineering
(Coates 2016). Ostrina nubilalis was the largest pest to corn crops prior to the introduction of Bt
crops, populations of O. nubilalis saw drastic decreases after the widespread implementation of Bt
crops. Once the Bt crops were employed, new insect resistant management strategies needed to be
adopted to stop insect resistances from forming too rapidly. Unfortunately, these strategies seem to
be an insufficient means in preventing resistances forming swiftly and negating the sustainability of
these B crops (Coates 2016). Currently, there is not enough information about the interactions
between the crops and their pests to develop effective insect resistant management strategies
(Coates 2016).

Mdh Assay Lab Report
Enzymes are biological catalysts, usually made up of protein molecules that act on one or more
specific substrates, converting them to products with different molecular structures. Malate
Dehydrogenase (MDH) is one example of an enzyme that catalyzes oxaloacetic acid and NADH
into malic acid and NAD+ as part of the citric cycle. In order to perform the MDH assay, a solution
of pure MDH was collected from bovine heart. A control assay was performed, along with three
experimental groups to test concentration, pH, and temperature. Units of activity were calculated
and showed that all three variables have an effect on enzyme activity. MDH was shown to have an
optimum pH, concentration, and temperature at which enzyme activity was at its highest... Show

It was hypothesized that as the enzyme concentration increases, the reaction rate increases. Also
that as the pH moves away, both increasing and decreasing, from the optimum pH (7.5) the reaction
rate decreases. Lastly, as the temperature moves away, both increasing and decreasing, from the
optimum temperature (37 oC) the reaction rate decreases. All of the results, as described below,
were consistent with the hypothesis that was made. As the results show in Figure 1, as the
concentration of enzymes is increased, the units of activity also increased with the maximum being
0.0622 Вµmol/min at 1X concentration. This may be because when the enzyme is in a higher
concentration there is more catalyst present, causing the reaction rate to increase. As Figure 2
shows, altering the pH, either higher or lower, had a negative effect on the reaction rate. This
indicates that the optimum pH for this reaction is approximately 7.5, giving a rate of 0.0622 Вµmol
/min. It is possible that altering the pH to extreme highs or lows causes the configuration of the
enzyme to be altered and inhibits the biochemical system. The results also show that temperature
has an affect on the reaction

William Paley s Argument For The Existence Of God
A design argument is more commonly know as a Teleological one, which is an argument for the
existence of a creator or god based on perceived evidence of deliberate design in the natural or
physical world .The argument has been discussed all the way back to the time of Socrates and
Plato. In my essay I will be evaluating one argument put forward by a famous philosopher, in this
case William Paley, an English clergyman born in 1743, in which he tries to show similarities in the
design of nature and the design of man made artefacts.
William Paley s Theological argument for the existence of God raises quite a few questions from
the offset of Paley s book Natural Theology. The first piece of evidence that he uses to argue his
point is his analogy of him stumbling upon a stone in a field and wondering how it came to be
there , Paley states that he could argue that it would be acceptable to believe that the stone had
stayed there forever due to the fact he has no prior knowledge of how it came to be there. Paley
shows us that we as humans take a lot of things for granted in our lives due to the fact that we have

Gods helping each other to create the universe or even the possibility of multiple Gods would
mean that there was no benevolent God because one could not create the world on its own. This
is a very important question because it endangers Paley s argument and from reading the chapters
on the design argument in paley sI do not believe Paley takes in to account the possibility of more
than one God existing and because of this I believe he ignores a serious way to disprove his own

Heresy In The Middle Ages
In twelfth century Sicily, an illustrated manuscript of the Byzantine Synopsis of Histories was
produced. Within this copy of John Skylitzes depiction of events (811 1157) are 500 plus
miniatures. One is the massacre of Paulician heretics in 843/844 (figure 1). Although this depiction
is not wholly historically accurate, it does exemplify the Christian stance on heresyin the Middle
Ages. Harsh treatment was occasionally necessary, to those who promoted Lucifer s teachings.
Hereby heresy was seen as a major threat to Christ s Church and His people. Nevertheless, as will
be shown, whatever means were put into practice by the Church failed since beliefs held at the
beginning of the Middle Ages were still evident in the fifteenth century. Regarding... Show more

On one level this was theological. Exemplifying this was Henry of Lausanne, a twelfth century
French heresiarch. Weaved throughout his preaching, was a Pelagian stance on original sin.
Hereby man was not tainted by the Fall, so only fell through his own actions. From this, Henry
concluded there was no need for the sacraments. Subsequently orthodox salvation was attacked,
arguably showing the Church was controlling the people. Moreover some taught the complete
removal of the clergy. Thus anarchy would ensue as services, tithing and Rome s supremacy
would be scrapped. Moreover since this Henrician stance was widespread, validated by the Free
Spirit movement later and Messalianism earlier, heresy as a whole in this period can be seen as
a major threat. Indeed the Church was also under attack regarding their secular influence too. The
Twelve Confessions of the Lollards proves so. Within this manifesto is the declaration, he that
hath taken him to the one (a temporal or a spiritual office) should not meddle ... with the other .
Therefore, a desire for division between the two existed, reducing the Church s political influence.
This was not necessarily a widespread belief among Lollards though, as its author John Purvey
represented Lollardy s greatest minds. Nevertheless this was the face the world saw (as it was sent
to Parliament) and even if a minority, was a threatening one. Furthermore, since heretics theology
was applied practically, they were incredibly threatening. The Waldensian preachers, who after the
Third Lateran Council disobeyed Pope Alexander III and continued preaching, prove so.
Subsequently Moore is justified when he proclaims that heresy attempted to subvert the Christian
order and bring ... chaos , since through their actions, the clergy were attacked. Yet Moore was
wrong to see the issue as beyond doctrinal disputes and Church made. Heterodox beliefs

Essay On Two Frat Boys Exploratory
After being hit by waves of nostalgia for the past few days, I think it is good time to look back
on a review I penned a few years ago. Exactly a decade ago, Hollywood produced not one, but
two wonder children (or rather, young adults). The unique backstory of an Oscar winning film
written by two frat boys fresh out of college enticed households across the country. The niched
marketing of the film seemed to, in fact, destine it for greatness. Indeed, Damon and Affleck
brought to the table a contemporary edge long awaited for in the film industry, something
suitable for their status as the young generation of rising stars. Rather than a grandiose of
monologues with dramatic addresses and touching tributes, as well as booming tones and
reverberating words echoing off walls, Sean and Will s scene at the park almost seems as if it
were tossed out without a deliberate care in the world. It is, after all, a speech originating from a

What Does Plantinga s Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism Say?
Plantinga s argument against naturalism is very engaging. He begins to state that a lot of people
believing Darwin s theory of evolution have misguided beliefs about naturalism. Comprehensively,
he argues that the contingency of humans having stable cognitive faculties is extremely inferior.
Plantinga cites C.S. Lewis in recognizing that evolutionary naturalism leads us to distrust. He
brought up that even Darwin had doubts along those lines. The essence of reasoning in Plantinga s
argument is that the reliability of evolutionary naturalism is very low. He says the people who
believe the two, evolution and naturalism, go hand in hand should reevaluate its soundness; and
hence, withhold approval from all other beliefs including evolutionary naturalism, said to be self

If Offenders, Young People Are Expected Act Like A...
If offenders, young people are expected to act like a standard person of their age. In Mullin v
Richards, 1998, Teresa Mullin and Heidi Richards, who were friends, were sitting next to each
other at a desk in school. While playing fighting with plastic rules, using them as swards, Teresa
Mullin was injured by a fragment of the rule, which snapped and went in her right eye, causing
her to loose most of her eye sight. Teresa sued the school for negligence, as well as Heidy.
However, it was decided by the court that Heidy was expected, as standard, to act like a 15 years
old student, and not like a reasonable adult. Concluding with the judges deciding that Heidy was
not in breach of duty, as she had met the standards of a 15 years old... Show more content on

This causation is identified with the but for test, in other words, but for the defendant s breach of
duty would the damage or injury have occurred? the main case would be Barnett v Chelsea and
Kensington Hospital Management Committee, 1968, where the husband of the claimant went to
the hospital due to strong stomach pain and vomiting. He was sent home after the Accident and
Emergency department refused to examine him. After five hours, he died due to arsenic
poisoning. The hospital owed the man duty of care and were also in breach after refusing to
examine him. However, they were not liable as even if they had conducted the examinations the
man would have died prior the results and treatment. Meaning that he would have died if the
breach was or was not present, as their breach did not cause him to die.
Remoteness of damage consists in establishing whether the offender is liable for only the damages,
if the consequences were foreseeable from the breach of duty. In other words, the judges have to
be able to establish where and when do the consequence act start and finish, as some may be too
remote to be included as they may happen years after if not earlier, depending on the
circumstances. For example, in The Wagon Mound case, a test of reasonable foreseeability was
established. This case consisted in the offender accidently spilling oil in the claimant s wharf, while
he was fueling another ship. At the time, there were welding

The Destruction Of American Society In The 19th Century
Society is a structure that besieges every individual. Its daunting presence is inescapable.
Throughout the 19th century, the American people were trapped in a rapidly industrializing nation
flooded with corruption and greed. A few crucial advancements did result from this tumult, such as
the invention of the lightbulb and the integration of women into the working class. However, these
advancements, while substantial, did little to make up for the distressing state American society
was in. Pollution prowled the streets, and crime levels were colossal. Big businesses would stop at
nothing to gain power and profits. Shortly following the close of the 19th centurywas the Great
Depression; a time of immeasurable poverty and suffering. In Eric... Show more content on

Many immigrants and rural inhabitants fled to urban areas in search of any job that would
provide them with a salary. Finding a job was onerous, as there were too few jobs available to
fulfil the demands of the growing population. Cities became flooded with the unemployed.
Likewise, as more and more companies failed, thousands of families lost their only source of
income. Due to economic constraints, layoffs and wage cuts became routine. It seemed as if
employment was always temporary; it provided a brief glimpse of relief before it was snatched
away by the claws of society. Eventually, even Burnham, a man with a reputation for being an
honorable employer, had to join the trend and let many of his employees go. When the Chicago
World s Fair officially closed, over ten thousand jobs disappeared. Burnham knew that, The

starvation (Larson 155). Within the last several centuries, American society had evolved in such
a way that a job was necessary for survival. Money provided all the basic needs. Because farming
was difficult in crowded and polluted cities, nearly all people relied on their wages to provide
food for their families. In addition to food, money provided housing, clothing, and education.
Without salary, families were faced with a survival burden. They struggled to pay the bills they
owed, and place food upon the table. The prospect of starvation was extremely present, yet there
was little meaningful effort to improve these conditions. Workers continued to be paid minimal
wages, and get laid off. The employers knew what lay ahead for their newly unemployed workers,
but they made little effort to change their fates. The government did not provide much support to its
poverty struck citizens. Consequently, all of society suffered. In the midst of

The Background Of 2007-2008 Financial Crisis
Chapter 2. Background
2.1 Introduction
This chapter is about the background of 2007 2008 financial crisis. The 2007 2008 financial crisis
has a huge impact on US banking system and how the banks operate and how they are regulated
after the financial turmoil. This financial crisis started with difficulty of rolling over asset backed
commercial papers in the summer of 2007 due to uncertainty on the liquidity of mortgage backed
securities and questions about the soundness of banks and non bank financial institutes when interest
rate continued to go up at a faster pace since 2004. In March 2008 the second wave of liquidity
loss occurred after US government decided to bailout Bear Stearns and some commercial banks,
then other financial institutions took it as a warning of financial difficulty of their peers. In the
meantime banks started hoarding cash and reserve instead of lending out to fellow banks and
corporations. The third wave of credit crunch which eventually brought down US financial system
and spread over the globe was Lehman Brother s bankruptcy in August 2008. Many major
commercial banks in US held structured products and commercial papers of Lehman Brother, as a
result, they suffered a great loss as Lehman Brother went into insolvency. This panic of bank
insolvency caused loss of liquidity in both commercial paper market and inter bank market. Still
banks were reluctant to turn to US government or Federal Reserve as this kind of action might

Using Signing Statements
Ramification of Using Signing Statements
According to Strauss (2006), the presidential signing statements have come out of obscurity and
into the headlines. Along with salutary attention to an interesting issue, the new public visibility of
signing statements have generated much overblown commentary. The desire to make these little
known documents interesting to the public and to score points in the inevitable political battles
over any practice engaged in by a sitting President has produced a lot of discussion that misleads the
public. Signing statements constitute a striking official power that has recently caught insightful
and political consideration. Earlier writing recommends that presidents utilization signing
statements to increase extra strategy concessions from Congress. Confirmation of approach
inspirations are, nonetheless, hard to exhibit and arrangement thought processes neglect to clarify a
wide range of existing statements.
Evans (2007) infers that the affluent antiquity of the U.S. presidency is confused with illustrations
of presidents endeavoring to practice their influence through this apparatus. The initially archived
utilization of the signing statement is when President Monroe issued an announcement to ensure
his presidential privilege. Be that as it may, the instrument did not turn into a generally utilized vital
weapon until the Reagan organization had the capacity to get it included into the administrative

Clytemnestra In Aeschylus s The Oresteia
Aeschylus s trilogy, The Oresteia, presents one reason for Clytemnestra murdering Agamemnon: as
revenge for the sacrificial murder of her daughter, Iphigenia. While this is not the only reason for
Clytemnestra s action, it is the most ambiguous; for example, Clytemnestra presents herself as a
devoted mother, but she constantly contradicts her actions with her words. For instance,
Clytemnestra, acting as a loving mother, vowed to avenge her daughter s death, but later on goes to
curse her own son, Orestes. Clytemnestra even claims to send Orestes off with loving intentions,
rather it was for her own security. Furthermore, The Libation Bearers questions Clytemnestra s
motherhood with a disturbing serpent metaphor. Therefore, Clytemnestra s actions... Show more

Upon discovering Orestes death Clytemnestra exclaims, and now Orestes, though he had the
sense not to step foot in this swamp of destruction (The Libation Bearers 697). Through this
exclamation, Clytemnestra seems to send Orestes away out of love so he wouldn t have to live
with his father s death and in the cursed house of Atreus. However Clytemnestra did not send
Orestes off with love, as Electra puts it, Orestes [was] banished from his inheritance (The Libation
Bearers 135). By banishing Orestes from his inheritance, as heir to the throne, Clytemnestra was
able to remain in power. Clytemnestra claims to have lovingly sent Orestes off to shield him from
the confounded house of Atreus; in reality, she banishes him from the kingdom because she saw
him as a threat to her power. Consider the metaphors found in the Agamemnon which compare
Clytemnestra to a lion, for example when Cassandra calls her a lioness reared up on two legs
(Agamemnon 1258). Lions in nature are as territorial and wary of menaces to their territory.
Relating Clytemnestra to a lion allows the reader to discern that Orestes would threaten her
authority because he would be the direct descendant of the throne and once Orestes rises to the
throne, Clytemnestra would lose her jurisdiction. Therefore, like a lion, she exiles the young male
cub, Orestes, from the

Why is an MBA degree sought after? Some insight can be provided by Susan Miller (2011),
author of The Essential MBA, Few Masters degrees require a learner to have such a wide

interpret the quote from Ms. Miller s book is that obtaining an MBA degree is challenging and

A musical performance has multiple interactions taking place between the music, text, performers, audience, and space that all can contribute to a great performance. Overwhelming majority of the audience does not realize so much can be looked at during a single performance. At a performance by the University of Maryland Marching Band I was able to analyze the Musical Sound, Contexts of the Performance, and Interpretation of the Performance. When analyzing musical sound there are many factors to pay attention to during the performance. Important things to listen for are the pitch, scale, timbre, tone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the performance there were many overtones and one fundamental tone, which deals with the timbre and tone quality. The overtones produce additional sounds that enable us to distinguish between different instruments even when they are sounding the same pitch (Kaemmer:60). The tone quality of the performance was very good. The music sounded evenly distributed and it was very easy to hear the sounds of the various instruments. The band played two songs and one song had a slow rhythm and the other had a faster rhythm. Rhythm means more than a basic beat (Kaemmer:65). During the performance there was a steady rhythm. Also during the performance there was a section of the song that sounded different and after about ten seconds the song goes back to its previous sound. That sound was a melody. Melodies are combination of pitches and rhythm patterns that produce a distinctive line of sound (Kaemmer:62). When the band first began to play the song started in a low tone and the music began to escalate and it reached a climax where the loudness of the performance was at its peak. Once at its peak the music began to get softer and lower. This is an example of a linear form of the performance. Linear form means a performance having a definite beginning and ending. The overall musical sound of the performance was delightful and pleasing to the ears. The context of a musical performance is another key part of any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Trish (2004), pregnancy is a special time and a healthy life event. During pregnancytime, women also go through every emotional phase in her life time. A pregnancy woman s body also will undergoes some physical change. The changes is important to assist for fetal development. There are three stages of pregnancy which are the first trimester, second trimester and third trimester. (Refer to figure 1 in appendix 1) The first trimester is the first stage of pregnancy. In this stage, zygote, embryo and fetusdevelopment occur in the first three month. The first two weeks are not actually considered as pregnant. Pregnancy will start about two weeks after the last period begins. In this stage, the germinal stage begins when the sperm and the egg unite in woman fallopian tube to form a zygote which is one celled entity. • 10. Genetic Modification Essay Genetic modification is a subject that has been hotly debated in the past, and remains a topic of controversy today. There are many critical discussions to be had with genetically modified (GM) products, however, this paper will focus on corn crops that have been modified to incorporate Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes. Corn is the largest food crop in the world and Bt corn is one of the largest crops in North America. Bt corn has several benefits, yet, there are also many potential problems with the crop and its impacts on local ecosystems. Although environmental issues may raise concerns, Bt crops have an immense upside with proper management of the Bt gene. Increasing insect, bacterial, and viral resistances are some of the primary concerns with genetically modified crops. Recently, there have been several new documented insect resistances to the Bt gene that have raised major concerns in the scientific community about the future of genetic engineering (Coates 2016). Ostrina nubilalis was the largest pest to corn crops prior to the introduction of Bt crops, populations of O. nubilalis saw drastic decreases after the widespread implementation of Bt crops. Once the Bt crops were employed, new insect resistant management strategies needed to be adopted to stop insect resistances from forming too rapidly. Unfortunately, these strategies seem to be an insufficient means in preventing resistances forming swiftly and negating the sustainability of these B crops (Coates 2016). Currently, there is not enough information about the interactions between the crops and their pests to develop effective insect resistant management strategies (Coates 2016). Malate Dehydrogenase (MDH) is one example of an enzyme that catalyzes oxaloacetic acid and NADH into malic acid and NAD+ as part of the citric cycle. In order to perform the MDH assay, a solution of pure MDH was collected from bovine heart. A control assay was performed, along with three experimental groups to test concentration, pH, and temperature. It was hypothesized that as the enzyme concentration increases, the reaction rate increases. Also that as the pH moves away, both increasing and decreasing, from the optimum pH (7.5) the reaction rate decreases. Lastly, as the temperature moves away, both increasing and decreasing, from the optimum temperature (37 oC) the reaction rate decreases. All of the results, as described below, were consistent with the hypothesis that was made. As the results show in Figure 1, as the concentration of enzymes is increased, the units of activity also increased with the maximum being 0.0622 Вµmol/min at 1X concentration. This may be because when the enzyme is in a higher concentration there is more catalyst present, causing the reaction rate to increase. As Figure 2 shows, altering the pH, either higher or lower, had a negative effect on the reaction rate. This indicates that the optimum pH for this reaction is approximately 7.5, giving a rate of 0.0622 Вµmol /min. William Paley s Argument For The Existence Of God A design argument is more commonly know as a Teleological one, which is an argument for the existence of a creator or god based on perceived evidence of deliberate design in the natural or physical world .The argument has been discussed all the way back to the time of Socrates and Plato. In my essay I will be evaluating one argument put forward by a famous philosopher, in this case William Paley, an English clergyman born in 1743, in which he tries to show similarities in the design of nature and the design of man made artefacts. William Paley s Theological argument for the existence of God raises quite a few questions from the offset of Paley s book Natural Theology. The first piece of evidence that he uses to argue his point is his analogy of him stumbling upon a stone in a field and wondering how it came to be there , Paley states that he could argue that it would be acceptable to believe that the stone had stayed there forever due to the fact he has no prior knowledge of how it came to be there. Although this depiction is not wholly historically accurate, it does exemplify the Christian stance on heresyin the Middle Ages. Harsh treatment was occasionally necessary, to those who promoted Lucifer s teachings. Hereby heresy was seen as a major threat to Christ s Church and His people. Weaved throughout his preaching, was a Pelagian stance on original sin. Hereby man was not tainted by the Fall, so only fell through his own actions. From this, Henry concluded there was no need for the sacraments. Subsequently orthodox salvation was attacked, arguably showing the Church was controlling the people. Moreover some taught the complete removal of the clergy. Thus anarchy would ensue as services, tithing and Rome s supremacy would be scrapped. Moreover since this Henrician stance was widespread, validated by the Free Spirit movement later and Messalianism earlier, heresy as a whole in this period can be seen as a major threat. Indeed the Church was also under attack regarding their secular influence too. The Twelve Confessions of the Lollards proves so. Within this manifesto is the declaration, he that hath taken him to the one (a temporal or a spiritual office) should not meddle ... with the other . Therefore, a desire for division between the two existed, reducing the Church s political influence. This was not necessarily a widespread belief among Lollards though, as its author John Purvey represented Lollardy s greatest minds. Nevertheless this was the face the world saw (as it was sent to Parliament) and even if a minority, was a threatening one. The Waldensian preachers, who after the Third Lateran Council disobeyed Pope Alexander III and continued preaching, prove so. The 2007 2008 financial crisis has a huge impact on US banking system and how the banks operate and how they are regulated after the financial turmoil. This financial crisis started with difficulty of rolling over asset backed commercial papers in the summer of 2007 due to uncertainty on the liquidity of mortgage backed securities and questions about the soundness of banks and non bank financial institutes when interest rate continued to go up at a faster pace since 2004. According to him, the new architecture was elementary (Misa, pg. 238), i.e. architecture should be established and then advanced from its rudimentary elements of construction. He said that architecture wasn t a subject that could be understood in a brief manner, it was meant to be studied in detail with a firm and complete knowledge about its function, mass, plane, time, space, light, color and material (Misa, pg. 238). • 33. Clytemnestra In Aeschylus s The Oresteia Aeschylus s trilogy, The Oresteia, presents one reason for Clytemnestra murdering Agamemnon: as revenge for the sacrificial murder of her daughter, Iphigenia. While this is not the only reason for Clytemnestra s action, it is the most ambiguous; for example, Clytemnestra presents herself as a devoted mother, but she constantly contradicts her actions with her words. For instance, Clytemnestra, acting as a loving mother, vowed to avenge her daughter s death, but later on goes to curse her own son, Orestes. Clytemnestra even claims to send Orestes off with loving intentions, rather it was for her own security. Furthermore, The Libation Bearers questions Clytemnestra s motherhood with a disturbing serpent metaphor. Therefore, Clytemnestra s actions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon discovering Orestes death Clytemnestra exclaims, and now Orestes, though he had the sense not to step foot in this swamp of destruction (The Libation Bearers 697). Through this exclamation, Clytemnestra seems to send Orestes away out of love so he wouldn t have to live with his father s death and in the cursed house of Atreus. However Clytemnestra did not send Orestes off with love, as Electra puts it, Orestes [was] banished from his inheritance (The Libation Bearers 135). By banishing Orestes from his inheritance, as heir to the throne, Clytemnestra was able to remain in power. Clytemnestra claims to have lovingly sent Orestes off to shield him from the confounded house of Atreus; in reality, she banishes him from the kingdom because she saw him as a threat to her power. Consider the metaphors found in the Agamemnon which compare Clytemnestra to a lion, for example when Cassandra calls her a lioness reared up on two legs (Agamemnon 1258). Lions in nature are as territorial and wary of menaces to their territory. Relating Clytemnestra to a lion allows the reader to discern that Orestes would threaten her authority because he would be the direct descendant of the throne and once Orestes rises to the throne, Clytemnestra would lose her jurisdiction. Therefore, like a lion, she exiles the young male cub, Orestes, from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
