To become a sociologist, one needs at minimum a bachelor's degree, though a master's or PhD is typically required. As a sociologist, key responsibilities include developing theories about human behavior and society, studying different stages of human development, and analyzing small samples of society to ensure human well-being. Successful sociologists possess strong analytical and observational skills as well as the ability to communicate, listen, and be patient. Most sociologists work in offices but also spend time learning about humans in various environments through surveys and discussions with colleagues.
