 My target audience is predominantly males
aged from their early teens to mid 20’s based
in Britain however ideally internationally if I
can get an international distribution deal. By
acknowledging whom my target audience
was I was able to identify their expectations
of my product and how I could achieve a high
quality piece.
 The layout attracted my target audience because of the
large text saying “BASS” t the top of my front cover, this
draws in the consumer because bass is very important in
rap music and can make people very happy so the text
resonated with the feeling of the sound which makes my
audience automatically want a piece of my product. The
layout of my contents page grabbed the attention of my
audience because I made it look extremely cool by
jumbling the “contents” and having a line at the side of
the page vertically.
 The setting of where I did the photo-shoot for my product
really resonated with my target audience because it gave a
sense of social realism of being in the “hood” and around
council estates because I attracted audiences that relate to
that lifestyle. The outfit I used for my artist is dark black
clothing, NY baseball cap, earrings and a bomber jacket.
Because image is very important, it shows the audience what
kind of rapper my artist is which attracted the audience I
wanted to attract. In my magazine the artist is not smiling
because it creates connotations that he does not live a happy
perfect life. Instead, he has a serious facial expression, which
shows the audience that he’s really lived this street, thug life
and letting people know what he is about. The prop used in
my product was a baseball cap which links to gang culture
and hiding your face with a cap and a hooded jacket so that
no body knows who you really are.
 The masthead that I have used on my front
cover is very unique and different. It is big
and bald so that it gets the attention of my
audience. I used a dark colour so that the
audience can make connotations such as the
dark and violent life grime artists go through.
 I used very bold font for my front cover,
which attracted my target audience as it
stood out and gained connotations of being
hard, cool and unstoppable. If I used fancy
and cartoon fonts my target audience would
be very confused and I would not be meeting
their expectations. Furthermore, I tried to
use dark colours like black for my font
throughout my magazine. This makes my
product look serious and not too colourful.
 The images I have used should engage with
the audience as on the front cover, there is
an image of a male teenager the same age as
my target audience in a close up which
already draws my audience in. The main
image on the contents page and on the front
cover already tells my target audience what
the magazine is about which will make them
want to read about it and invest in it.
 I used a lot of informal language like slang
and words that only my target audience
would understand instead of a high middle
class white 30 year old man that lives in
North London. I grabbed my audience’s
attention this way because they can relate to
the context of the article and magazine as a
whole so if I used very formal language I
would not be meeting my audiences
expectations.
