Media s Effect On The Black Society
Media has a detrimental effect on the black society. Blacks have very little, if any control in
what the media displays. How many African American Television network companies are there?
How many African American Television companies are competing with the big named
companies who rack in millions or billions of dollars? It is logical to say whomever controls the
media, controls the mind. Television is a common form of media . A lot of things that we watch
has been carefully hand picked and crafted for blacks but not by blacks. There are currently no
Black owned television networks. The question is; who is feeding our minds? Television network
companies are almost completely dominated by middle aged to elderly Caucasian male. Many
may assume that BET is black owned; however as of 2001 BET has been taken over by Viacom .
Who owns Viacom? Sumner Redstone, an elderly Caucasian male. BET is the most prominent
network in targeting Black households and reaches over 90 Million households. Having no black
owned television networks lead to a non black persons perception of black peopleand black culture.
This displays a fabricated experience and idealism of what these networks think black people are
or should be. It is equivalent to an individual making a documentary on what it is like being Oprah
Winfrey but they are not Oprah. Winfrey. (Viacom Accquires BET, 2015)

Moral Dilemmas Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase posed several significant moral dilemmas for President Thomas
Jefferson, among these were he believed that federal government should not practice any powers
those were not granted by the Constitution. On other hand he stepped up to buy
Louisiana territory and he desperately tried to get the Louisiana territory for the new nation but he
was not granted evidently to do so under the Constitution. Ultimately, Jefferson was able to make it
happened to purchase the Louisiana territory. According to his decisions, he was capable of
classifying his beliefs and actions and the significance of Louisiana Purchase he posted on national
expansion. Jefferson believed in keeping the United States as agricultural land, and that s for it
required to expand the United States geographically to keep a principled republic. Some people
believed that if United States could get too large the republics would not be able to act properly,
and unquestionable disagreed. It might be right or wrong even you could say it was constitutional
or not, personally I believe that the purchase of Louisiana territory was a conclusive attempt of
Thomas Jefferson and that made the nation s expansion. In addition, it brought up the platform for
the settlement and gained the Southwest and the
Oregon County.
In 1800 Spain struck a mystery agreement to give back the trans Mississippi domain to France, in

An Investigation Of A Burglary Report
On 6 20 2016 at about 1743 hrs I was dispatched to 407 6th ST NE for a residential burglary
report. Enroute dispatched advised that the homeowner, Susan Cwanila, had called 911 to
report a burglary to her residence. I arrived on scene and contacted Susan and her boyfriend,
Wayne Briggs, who also lives at the address. Susan stated that they both left the residence this
morning around 0800 hours and when they returned home they noticed that someone had forced
entry to their residence. Susan stated that they noticed someone had attempted to break open a
double panel window, however, only the first window was broken and no signs of access to the
residence were made at that point. However, also on the back side of the residence they located
another window which had been broken. Upon entering through that window, access could have
been made to the residence. Wayne also stated that damage was found on the window style air
conditioning unit on the side of the residence. Suggesting that someone had attempt to removed
the unit and gain access to the residence at that point. Susan stated that several of the screens for
the windows around the residence were removed and found laying around the yard. Susan also
stated that they noticed fresh foot prints in their garden area. Susan stated the dirt had recently
been racked and no foot prints should have been in the dirt. The dirt was on the far back side of
the residence and led to their fence line. It is the same area of the

Three Types of Friends Essay
A friend is defined as someone emotionally close or somebody who trusts and is fond of another.
The affect that a person one calls his or her acquaintance can sometimes be very deep and
heartfelt. From my experience, I have encountered three types of friends: the chronic complainer,
the staller, and the know it all. A chronic complainer is a he or she that is fault finding. Chronic
complainers choose to blame someone else or something for his or her actions. Also, they are
uncertain about what should be done. I have this friend that I consider a chronic complainer; she
never takes the blame for anything and no matter what the situation is she s going to find a
problem. There have been plenty of times that we would go out to eat, and our... Show more content

The staller would not be of any help with moving or any other hard job. The person I know that
fits this description is not a friend but actually a family member. This person comes to do the
simplest job ever, but has to call two or three more people to come help him out. Instead of him
helping he stands there and gives out orders to everyone else. He also dose not get his important
business handled; he likes to sit around and wait until the last minute or until it s too late before
he tries to do anything about a situation. This is not someone who you would want helping you
with some very important job. Last but not least is the know it all. The know it all acts superior
and makes others feel stupid. They also maybe bullheaded and impatient; know it alls really don
need or want any help. One of my closest friends is a prime example of a know it all. She knows
everything that is discussed and want let anyone else put there say so in about the topic. One
day one of my cousins and I were talking about the cost of daycare and she just cut both of us off
and went on talking about the different costs. She didn t know what she was talking about
because she dose not have any kids. So when I cut her off and went to correcting her she got so
mad with me because what I was saying made more sense than what she was saying. Know it alls

Leah Remini slammed Tom Cruise for acting like a child who has never been told no. In Leah s

incident when the actor had a meltdown while trying to bake a batch of homemade cookies. The
incident allegedly occurred when Remini and her husband, Angelo Pagan, visited Cruise and his
wife Katie Holmes at their Los Angeles home. According to Remini, the Mission: Impossible actor

ingredients in his home s kitchen to make cookies even though a tub of pre made cookie dough

Rationalization On Premarital Sex Is Immoral
Mohammed Miah Professor Dowd ENWR 105/E3 3 11 November 2014 Rationalization on
Premarital Sex For an extensive period of time, it was considered sinful and immoral, but in the
beginning of this century, it found its way into the social norm. Many people today believe it is
acceptable, but there are still numerous people, including myself, who find the practice of
premarital sex to be wrong at first glance regardless of what the situation may be. The thought of
whether or not the practice is acceptable varies from person to person based on their upbringing and
knowledge on the topic. Due to the countless morbid and life changing consequences, including a
multitude of diseases and unwanted pregnancies, people, such as myself, rationalize on the opinion
that premarital sex is immoral and should not be practiced. In his argument titled The Moral
Instinct, Pinker identifies two different methods that people use to conclude on whether an action,
idea, or practice is moral or immoral; he refers to them as moral reasoning and moral rationalization
(462). Moral reasoning can be defined as analyzing a situation first to make a judgment/conclusion
on that situation (Pinker 462). On the other hand, moral rationalization is the opposite and is
defined as beginning with the conclusion, coughed up by an unconscious emotion, and then
working backward to a plausible justification (Pinker 462). In other words, moral rationalization is
the first instinct that we get about something. The

Raisin In The Sun Critical Analysis
Imagine, for a moment, that someone has just received an enormous check. However, this positive
and seemingly heaven sent bestowal is laced with dismay and mayhem, for there are numerous
outcomes this check could produce not all of which are accomplishable. Meanwhile, said person s
family is being torn asunder by all of these possible outcomes since each is persistently continuing
to pester and demand the personwho received the check to use it in the way that each of the family
members personally believe. It is always a burdensome choice, whether to consider an individual,
the majority, or the minorities, yet this is the dilemma thrust upon one woman in Raisin in the Sun
by Lorraine Hansberry. In writing this impossible circumstance... Show more content on

Accentuating the lack of passion and common courtesy Walter has for his wife, Ruth, in this
particular scene, Hansberry is, in the beginning, ingraining in her readers minds how detestably this
man treats his wife.
However, this absolute disregard for his wife is completely transformed after Mama, the woman
who is burdened with the dilemma, decides to satisfy the needs of the majority and purchases a
house which will be advantageous for everyone, whether they were pleased with the decision or
not. His whole being appears to convert into its polar opposite, as shown through the stage
direction, He dances over to Ruth and tries to get her to dance with him. She gives in at last to his
raunchiness and in a fit of giggles allows herself to be drawn into his mood (112). The author
illustrates how his actions and mentality, thus their relationship, evolved over a short period
resulting from the purchase of the house, which was originally intended to appease the majority,
since not everyone initially approved of this use of the money. Therefore, this altering of mindset
and relationship conveys that, by selecting the choice best suited for the majority, one may
unknowingly be selecting an option that becomes best suited for everyone and that is eventually
unanimously agreed upon.
In addition to this, it it always best to comply with the needs of the majority since the majority may
also include what is

Research Paper On Wakeboarding
From Skurfing to Wakeboarding Skurfing didn t undergo a name change until nearly a decade

while promoting his own custom board, the €Hyperlite.€ The Hyperlite is now recognized as
the sport s first board produced by compression molding. Wakeboarding Techniques Like surfing
and water skiing, wakeboarding is a sport that requires considerable balancing skills. Over the
decades, wakeboarders have developed certain basic tricks and exercises to help them develop
balance while strengthening their muscles for more difficult tricks and jumps. Typically, beginning

wakeboarder or a newbie at the sport, there are a number of features that you should look for
when shopping for a quality wakeboard. Here are some of the things you should consider before
making your purchase: Length The length of a wakeboard is extremely important because it
needs to correspond appropriately to your height, your riding stance and your weight. If a
wakeboard isn t long enough for your body, you may not be able to float it properly. Likewise,
different wakeboard lengths conform better to different riding styles. Shorter wakeboards are
usually easier to spin and maneuver in the air during jumps. On the flip side, landings may be
more difficult because of the shorter surface area. A longer wakeboard is good for beginners
because it s easier to ride, but the heavier weight makes it more difficult to maneuver when you re
learning tricks and jumps. On the flip side, the increased surface area helps greatly in

The Social Responsibility Of A Business
MF believed that a business itself cannot have any social responsibility. Only the people who own
or are affiliated with the business can have any form of social responsibly. His article, A Friedman
Doctrine : The Social Responsibility of Business if to Increase Its Profits, outlines what this means
for a businesss corporate executive. The corporate executive is the employee of the business owner
and, therefore, is directly responsible to them. Friedman states that the corporate executive s
responsibility, ...generally, will be to make as much money as possible while conforming to the
basic rules of the society, both those embodied in law and those embodied in ethical customs

This is summarized in his statement, there is one and only one social responsibility of business to
use it resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within
the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or
fraud (Friedman).
Porter and Kramer take a very different stance on this topic. They believe that there is a very real
and strong link between CSR and competitive analysis. The modern world ranks businesses on
their CSR and directs a significant amount of publicity towards companies who are focused on the
health and welfare of their customers and the earth. The traditional mindset concerning CSR puts
business and society at odds, when in reality they are interdependent and reliant on each other.
Porter Kramer think that antiquated thoughts about CSR have pressured businesses into thinking
that there is an only one generic approach to CSR. This one size fits all mindset does not actually
fit all, and it is in no way the best for all business strategies. Porter Kramer believe this mindset
leads to a disconnected and

The Movie The Rain Maker s Bad Faith Suite Against...
There is a scene in the legal thriller, The Rain Maker where the young newly minted lawyer Rudy
Bailor (Matt Damon) is squared off in the judge s chambers with big time corporate lawyer Leo F.
Drummond (Jon Voight) and a cranky coughing judge Harvey Hale (Dean Stockwell) to discuss the
pre trial merits of Rudy s Bad Faith suite against health insurance giant Great Benefit. The coughing
grouchy judge(who later dies of a heart attack) sneers across his desk at the young Rudy Bailor
and wheezes: This lawsuit bothers me Mr. Bailor! I wouldn t use the word frivolous, but...I m not
impressed with the merits of it to be frank. In fact, (cough) I m really TIRED of these kinds of
lawsuits. I m inclined to grant the motion to dismiss. Now...you can re file it in Federal court, you

This scene has always impressed upon me the reluctance and recalcitrance of well established
judges refusing to not only embrace difficult cases to the fullest of their ability and potential, but
who also willfully and knowingly avoid cases that stand to challenge established legal precedent, or
stare decisis, in the pursuit of justice.
With this point in mind, in evaluating many of the legal cases we have reviewed throughout our
course, the one aspect of law that particularly intrigues me, and is most glaring with respect to the
cause of justice, is what appears to be many instances of the courts finding ways to avoid or

Difference Between Racial Inequality And Justice

Racial Inequality and Justice
Justice is a term that should not only prefer to different portions of distribution, but also to the
institutional conditions to develop individual capabilities, as well as cooperative communication.
Under this conception of justice, many people in the U.S. consider disciplinary justice as an
appropriate approach to sustain social order. However, it seems like there are more chances that the
minorities are targets of the inequality in justice system, especially in socio economic and political
problems.
Even if people of color were fully distributed in the capitalist hierarchy like white people, racism is
still a big problem of the inequality system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the National Center for Access to Justice (2015), a network of pro bono legal
service providers representing the poor has arisen to address the need of justice gap, but more
than half of those who seek help are turned away, as a result of unavailable adequate public funds
and private donations. By reducing the pro bono law firms, legislators indirectly thrust the poor
into lack access of finding qualified attorneys to represent themselves in bureaucratic
proceedings. Rhode (2005) suggests that in order to maintain the fairness of American justice,
we need to press reforms in political institutions, which has deep ideological and structural roots
(p. 126). Those reforms include, but not limited to, the distribution of legal self help materials,
the procedures of resolving disputes without lawyers or court hearings, the expansion of pro
bono services, and the adequate funding of legal aid agencies (Rhode, 2005, p. 126 134). Even
though our laws can policies can change over time, I believe Rhode s suggestions on reforms may
have some involved complications due to the lack of political actions, civil disobedience, and direct
actions.
The United States is a dreadfully unequal society in terms of the distributions of material wealth,
especially the outstanding benefits and privileges that accumulate to wealth. This inequality is
enormous, regardless of race. However, the minorities are still struggling with the overall system of
socio economic inequality in which multiple scholars have to study, analyze, and suggest different
solutions for this

Theme Of Revenge In Oresteia
The main focal point in which the Oresteia attempts to convey to its readers is that revenge is a
continuous and unending cycle. The concept of an eye for an eye is heavily emphasized throughout
the story and its characters. Therefore is someone is murdered, than a next of kin or relative will
extract vengeance upon the murderer. Which thus turns an attempt at justice into simply another
tragedy. And then a new chosen one will then later be selected to seek and obtain revenge on the
previous wrongdoer in which the cycle continues. The furies within the play also play a crucial role
in demonstrating the ruthless and unending nature of revenge through their methods of torturing
and haunting the martyr s blood related family for eternity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For instance, if the United States were to launch a nuclear missile as Russia s capital, what would
happen? Retaliation. Russia would then do the exact same or possibly even worse directed at the
United States. Our blindness to come to the attention of this seemingly chronic problem within our
world has nearly lead humankind to the brink of its own destruction on many different occasions.
Of which, the closest humankind has gotten to destroying itself throughout our history was during
the brief time frame of the cuban missile crisis during the Cold War. We got so close in fact, that
the simple push of a button could have lead to total nuclear annihilation. Therefore, the principle of
revenge has been with us in our darkest moments as well as our everyday lives.
And even in our legal and justice systems the same principle applies. Why is a man who committed
murder given the death penalty? Since when does two wrongs equal one right? These are the
questions we must ask ourselves as we examine the meaning behind humankind s need for the
extraction of revenge.
The idea of revenge has existed as a staple of human civilization for as long as we as a species can
remember. Mankind s uncontrollable desire towards greed, and our natural tendency to be self
serving, is essentially the quintessential metaphorical roadblock that impedes our future progress.

The most important thing in any relationship is having confidence in yourself.
If there s confidence in a relationship and believe in it, then there won t be no need for any
games to be played. Men can gain control in a relationship by speaking up and setting clear
boundaries. They have always been known to be the braves and courageous in those old time
stories that everyone has read about at some point in their lifetime. A good example would be
Shakespeare s Macbeth, macbeth is the main character in the story and he is known to fight for
his kingdom and people, but there s only one problem, he doesn t have any control over his
marriage. It s normal for the power dynamic to shift in a relationship. Men are also known to wear
the pants in the relationship.( In social life, socializing should be part of the female and male
gender ) David Galef, Wuthering Heights pg.243
Respect is the most important key in a relationship for it to be successful. Both partners should be
respectful to each other, but men should take the lead on it because mostly everyone in the family
will look up to them. Women love to be treated with respect and get taken care of by their husbands.
Respect is basically the nicer way for men to gain control in their relationship. They should
understand, comprehend, trust and respect their partner s personal

In past centuries, Angola was among the areas most devastated by the slave trade. In recent

by powerful external forces. This is because Angola, with an abundance of oil and other

In 1975 Angola was released from colonialism by Portugal. This pivotal event in history sparked

They share a half true story about a hero tackling an obstacle, these stories are typically important

Virtue Ethics And Aristotle s Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethics revolves around an individual s character traits, which often times crosses over to
one s career, or in this case engineering. According to Aristotle, if a person has obtained certain
virtues, it will be reflected in their behavior. Engineers have a responsibility to protect the public
from harm, as well as promote the public s wellbeing. Therefore, an engineer must contain several
vital character traits, or virtues, in order to perform their job accordingly. In this paper, virtueethics
will be further evaluated as well as applied to the engineering discipline. In order to understand
Aristotle s virtue ethics, the words eudaimonia and arГЄte must be acknowledged. Eudaimonia is
defined as happiness or flourishing. This state of eudaimonia is achieved by striving for goals in
life, which in turn results in the individual s success and happiness. The individual is always
setting new goals in order to become the best person they can be. ArГЄte, on the other hand, is
defined as a virtue, or what makes something outstanding. According to Aristotle, virtues are a mean

Metal Death Trap Research Paper
Metal Death Traps How would you feel if someone told you whether you live, or die was
predetermined by a computer program? Self driving cars are becoming more of a reality every day
and the struggle of what it should do in an emergency has become a constant debate of ethics and
morality. English philosopher John Stuart, author of Utilitarianism, believes people should seek the
greatest good of their actions. Meanwhile, German philosopher Immanuel Kant, supports
deontology (the idea that the only true moral action is that which is made absent of any self desire
and will not cause any foreseen harm to another) in his book The Metaphysics of Morals. Although
many people may believe that it is in the best interest for cars to attempt to swerve... Show more

Some people may argue that the value a few lives supersedes the value of the one in the vehicle,
but that idea is denounced by the fact that one cannot determine what would happen if the car is
to swerve. The car could possibly crash in to a building injuring many more inside or cause a
major accident on the road where many more might die. As Mill puts it in his book According to
the greatest happiness principle as I have explained it, The ultimate end. . . ., for the sake of
which all other things are desirable (whether we are considering our own good or that of other
people) is an existence as free as possible from pain and as rich as possible in enjoyments (Mill).
In short, the ideology of utilitarianism means we should seek the least harm possible. This can
only be done if we allow the car to do what cars are designed to do and drive forward. The only
true guarantee that can be made by these vehicles is that the rider will be treated with the upmost
care. Anything outside of this is an uncontrollable variable that may cause more harm than

Being criticized, losing self courage, no matter how you compare it, you know it s wrong. And
we have to stop it before it s out of our reach. The joy and entertainment in water flipping are only

Analysis of Richard Kenney s Aubade Essay
An aubade is a poem that greets the dawn and characteristically involves the parting of lovers.
This particular aubade describes an everyday morning in the life of the speaker, who seems to
be going to work or has some other task which requires him to be up at five o clock. Its so early
in the morning that it is still dark outside, and he can see the stars and the moon still bright in the
sky. The temperature outside is freezing, which contributes much to the way he describes things in
the poem. This is a very lyrical poem. The speaker s emotions and intentions are made very clear
in very inconspicuous ways. The subtle repetition of certain words and images give the poem a
very distinct tone. For example, the repetition of the words... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The arc has to do with the book s idea of eternal return, Nietzsche s ideas of the eternal recurrence
of time. However, although Kundera is a South Asian writer, the pick up truck and the icebox
suggest a very American setting. In many ways, this poem is unusual in its subject. It deters in
several ways from a typical aubade, such as Donne s The Sun Rising or the internal aubade
introducing the bird narrator in Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde. For this poem, it is important
to note that rather than detailing the parting of lovers, this poem addresses a parting which has
already taken place. The speaker is likely driving away from his love, having left her, and
imagining her still asleep. The last line of the poem has a certain intimacy to it, that even though
they are apart, in the speaker s mind they are still joined by this moment, as he seems to have an
awareness or thoughtfulness regarding what she is doing as he moves further away. Also, the
speaker in an aubade is usually discontented that he has to leave his love; this speaker is
somehow consoled by the knowledge that a parting is never really a parting (his driving off is
somehow symbolic of this.) It is also interesting to note that this aubade doesn t greet the sun;
rather it mentions the moon instead. This poem also uses many symbolic images. Many of the
parts of the car which he describes utilize poetic devices and contribute to the poem s theme. The
spark and arc is an interesting use of

The Effect Of Salt And Sugar On Heart Rate
How salt and sugar affect heart rate and blood pressure
Heart rate is a measuring system for heart. It is measured by how many times then heart beats. A
normal heart rate is usually between 60 100 beats. Abnormal is if the heart rate is too high or very
low. Also, if the heart beats at irregular times. Some factors that change a person s heartrate are, the
body temperature. It affects the heart rate because the warmer the body gets the heart beats more
quickly. This happens because the body is trying to move more bloodin the body to cool it down.
When the body temperature is cold it also beats after because of it trying to keep the body
warmer. Blood pressure is the pressure in the circulatory system. It is measured in systolic and
diastolic. Systolic meaning when the arteries of the heart contract. Diastolic means the pressure in
the blood vessels. The average blood pressure is 120/80 mmHg. Abnormal blood pressure is 120
139/80 doctors call it hypertension meaning almost high blood pressure, this is very dangerous
for the heart since it puts a lot of strain on it. Some factors of high blood pressure are, obesity and
smoking. Low blood pressure is if it is lower than the average. Doctors call this hypotension .
Some factors of low blood pressure are heart problems, blood loss, and lack of nutrients. The test
that is being done is how sugars and salts affect heart rate and blood pressure. There will be one

Psychodynamic Theory Applied To The Case Of Y Chun

tempered and on edge. The psychodynamic theory of individual psychology, typically referred to
as Adlerian therapy, can be applied to the case of Y Chun in order to understand her presenting

From infancy, Y Chun recognized that she was helpless, and this helplessness was characterized
by feelings of inferiority. Inferiority feelings are considered a normal condition of all people and
are identified as a foundation for human striving. Thus, Y Chun s feelings of inferiority are not
treated as a sign of weakness; rather, these feelings encourage her to strive for superiority. Y Chun
has worked to compensate for her feelings of helplessness by striving for competence and
perfection. Y Chun is currently juggling a number of tasks in which she is attempting to
demonstrate her competence, such as going to school, working, and raising her children, and it is
likely that her desire to achieve superiority is contributing to her current symptomology. It is
important to recognize, however, that Y Chun s yearning for superiority does not necessarily mean
she is striving to be superior to others. Instead, it means that Y Chun has been and will continue to
attempt to move from a perceived lower position to a perceived higher position (Corey, 2009). In

that a women s place is in the home is due to the most socially accepted and common career of
wifehood and motherhood. Through the comparison of Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and

Literary Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Water Is Taught By...
Emily Dickinson is a well respected poet from the New England area. Although she was not
recognized during her lifetime, the close to 1,800 poems are well known to people who study
American Literature. One of her poems, Water, is Taught by Thirst , conveys the message of
appreciating what you have instead of waiting for it to disappear by taking a closer look at the
poem and evaluating the lines, people can connect to the message by looking at a few things they
appreciate in life.
By evaluating Water, is Taught by Thirst the reader can have a broader understanding of the
theme, appreciate what you have before they vanish before you realize it. Such as the second
line, Dickinson mentions land, by the oceans passed which I interpreted as the absence of land.
This also means she sees the land as a home, shelter, a place to rest and re energize. To her this is
very dear, she loved to stay isolated and frankly it is necessary to have somewhere to call home
and relax the mind to let the thoughts flow. Also in line 4, the writer talks about appreciating
peace. Line 4 of the poem says Peace by its battles told , I interpret this such as we miss and
understand peace in the middle of battle, war, conflict, and beef. Only during times of need does
someone ever truly appreciate something.
In reflecting on my life and on the concept of appreciation, I can relate because of my appreciation
for the things I have in my life. One of the many things I appreciate is my little chihuahua, he is
brown with a hint of gold. His attitude is not always the best, like sometimes he will ignore me,
but for the most part he is obedient. He is practically family or even more than that. It s hard but it
s as if he is an extension or piece of me. Another thing I appreciate but can sometimes lose sight of
is my parents, they love me a lot and there are times I forget that they are human beings and they
have their own problems. I forget what they have been through, I remember the struggle they had
to overcome just for me to ask every day to borrow their car because mine was messed up. The
amount of self sacrifice they achieved is unfathomable.my parents will never let me go to work

Geography Of The Indus River
Barrett, EmilyPeriod 6 4/30/15
Geography
The Indus River is located on the northwestern part of the sub continent with other rivers draining
into it. Another river called the Ganges River was east of the Indus River. The climate was tropical
and contained seasonal winds called monsoons. Monsoons during the winter were dry and went
from land to the sea, letting little rain fall on the land. During summer monsoons wet winds go
from ocean to land bringing rain with it. The mountain ranges, the Himalayas and Hindu Kush,
were located near the north.
The first civilization in the sub continent grew around the Indus River; later another civilization
grew around the Ganges River. The rivers would flood and this leaves behind rich soils which
makes plentiful crops that fed the civilization. Agriculture depends on the summer monsoon. If rain
comes, there are no problems, but if it comes late or not at all crops die and people starve. Since
they could not always depend on the monsoons they made irrigation channels that led to their crops.
The Himalayas and Hindu Kush separated the sub continent from the rest of Asia. Culture

Essay On Navajo Culture
Navajo culture distinctively took hold in the four corners area of the Colorado Plateau around
100 A.D., although they are believed to have been around for centuries before then. Disliking
the term Navajo Indians , they refer to themselves as the DinГ© which means The People or
Children of the Holy People . The Navajos are traditionally a matriarchal society. Descent and
Inheritance were determined through the mother. In marital separation, woman kept the property
and children. If the mother died, the children were sent to live with their mother s family.
Navajo women were at the core of social and economic control. They were the potters and
weavers and owned the land and livestock, which was passed on to their daughters, who were
trained to manage them. The Navajo farmed squash, corn, and beans. Some other fruits and
vegetables in their diet were wild celery, wild onion, wolfberry, wax currant, juniper berry, and
yucca bananas. They raised sheep and goats for meat, wool, and milk. They also hunted animals
such as deer and prairie dogs. Occasionally, edible clay was added to food. This increased the

the umbilical cord. This ensured that the child would be nurtured by its spiritual mother for the

Negative Effects Of Technology In Family Life
It is now possible to earn a college degree from home. Making it possible for anyone to attend a
college that could not make it to a campus in person. Most Universities and colleges offer degree
programs that can be earned online. Students can fit school into their schedules easier because
course material is available anywhere at any time (Irby Li, 2008). In the past, it was challenging
for people, especially older adults, to fit college into their busy schedules. People that had full

Major Advancements Of The Iron During The 19th Century
An iron is a handheld implement with a heated flat metal base, used to remove creases and folds
from fabric(Cambridge Dictionary, 2016). However, this recognizable household appliance has
undergone several significant advancements since its initial invention, which has been traced back
to Europe in the 1300s (Smoothing Iron, 2016). Three major advancements of the iron occurred in
the 19th century which revolutionize the ironingprocess; the Victorian Iron, Mrs Potts removable

technological and scientific advancements the iron under went changes in form, meaning and
purpose. The three major changes can be analysed to reveal what influenced the change and the
resulting impact on the user and user experience.
The starting point:
The Middle Ages saw the invention of the sadiron, a flat piece of iron which was heated then
pressed on to clothing to remove creases. For several centuries ironing process involved:
1. The iron was heated over a fire or on stove. Experience revealed when the iron was hot enough
for use but not too hot to scold the clothing
2. A piece of fabric was place over the item of clothing to be ironed to ensure that the exposed metal
did not leave a mark
3. Then the iron was pressed onto the item to remove any unwanted creases
The iron did not stay hot for very long and had to be continually reheated resulting in a laborious

The chemicals in the cannabis, or marijuana plant can...
The chemicals in the cannabis, or marijuana plant can cause desired psychological and physical
effects on the human body. However, for many years there has been an ongoing debate about the
legality of the drug. In the last few years specifically, the issue has become very popular and has
received a lot of attention from the media. Citizens, doctors, and politicians have many different
views and opinions on whether the drug is dangerous or harmless. Marijuana comes from a natural
plant and causes a euphoric high sensation when consumed. Doctors have proven that the
psychological and physical effects of cannabisdo not pose any substantially harmful threats to the
human body. These effects can also be very medicinal and helpful to those... Show more content on

Containing between 3% and 22% THC, this is the most widely consumed form. All other
preparation of the plant are derived from this base form. Most cannabis plants have either male or
female flowers, while some plants have both. Male flowers are more yellow in color and grow in
the form of elongated clusters along leaves. Female flowers grow in more spike shaped clusters
and remain dark green in color for about a month after blossoming, when the seed ripens (Bonsor).
Smoking is the most common way of consuming marijuana. The dried plant is lit on fire in a
contained method so that the smoke can be inhaled. Another method of consumption is to extract
the oil from the plant and use it to prepare foods, typically baked goods. When ingesting the oil, a
significant amount of THC enters the bloodstream through the stomach and travels to the brain,
where it has a similar effect to smoking it. In other parts of the world, especially in Asia and the
Middle East, cannabis is used to make teas, butters, or pastes that are consumed in various ways
(Goode).
The THC chemical (tetrahydrocannibinol) is the main active ingredient in marijuana that causes its
psychological and physical effects on the body. It mainly affects the communications system in the
brain and body. Scientists have called this system the endocannibinol system (or EC system). The
THC enters the brain and attaches to the cannabinoid receptors. The natural

Sociological Theories and Theorists
Origins of sociological thinking can be traced to the scientific revolution in the late seventeenth
and early eighteenth century (Kendall 11). In this time, great store was put on one s possession of
critical reasoning and experiences. In France the Enlightenment was dominated by a group called
philosophes; these men believed that human society could be improved through scientific
discoveries (Kendall 11). In France during this time period women were excluded from public
life, but some women were able to influence the philosophes by participating in a salon which is
much like an open house which encouraged discussion and debates. During these salon s the men
typically viewed the women as someone that was a good listener, or maybe even... Show more

Weber, Max 1864 1920: He was a German social scientist who was also concerned about the
changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution. Max s significance was considerable among
German scientist. Little of his work was published during his lifetime because most of his work
was restricted to scholarly specialist; his work had more of an impact after he died (Biography).
He believed that values could not be separated from the research process; he stressed that sociology
should be value free, that the researcher should not let his/her personal interest influence the
outcome (Kendall 19).
Georg Simmel 1858 1918: Georg Simmel is best known for his contribution to sociology and
philosophy. He thought the main purpose of sociology should be to examine these social
interaction processes within groups (Kendall 20). He concluded that interaction patterns differed
between a dyad a social group with two members and a triad a social group with three members;
he developed an approach that focuses attention on the recurring social forms called Formal
Sociology (Kendall 21). From 1889 to 1909, Georg Simmel fostered the German Sociological
Association into existence. However, he lamented that he was seen as a sociologist. Simmel
considered sociology as an ancillary field of study to that of philosophy. He became the

Notes On Purchasing Power Parity
Purchasing power Parity (PPP), is a theory stating that the unit of one currency should have the
same purchasing power as the foreign currency. Following the theory, where the normal exchange
rate between two currencies should be the same as the ratio of aggregate price level between them.
It can be also called inflationtheory of exchange rates as it stands for the theory of a change of
price level where as the overriding determinant of exchange ratemovements. It is the same status
as Quantity theory of money(QT). To make things clear, the dogma of PPP or its alternative
Law of one Price (LOOP), states that when goods in the basket expressed in a single currency
meaning that they cost the same in all countries. This can be achieved only if the rate or nominal
exchange rate is equal to the differences between growth rate. The dental of LOP context is to
find the most disaggregate product and price can be readily material provides as strong
presumption that it is impossible to assemble available date into aggregate price index which can
be expected to obey the LOP.
It is introduced in 1918 by Cassel, due to World War I, while there was an international policy
debate about the appropriate level for nominal exchange rates among countries after the large scale
of inflations. Rogoff (1196), expressed that some economists takes PPP seriously in the Short
Run(S/R), but the red variant of PPP, is in the long run exchange rate. Dornbusch and Krugman

The Similarities And Differences Between Virginia And...
Virginia and Massachusetts Bay were slave owning colonies; however, their practices were very
different. The roots of these differences were the reasons that Europeans left their home countries to
travel to the New World. Due to their strong patriarchalist social order, Virginia leans towards a
more economical society. On the other hand, MassachusettsBay was influenced by a large group of
Puritans and a relatively small group of egalitarians; hence it was more of a religious society.
These distinctions based on their lifestyle resulted in very different kinds of life experiences for
the slaves in these two colonies. The location of Virginiawas great for large plantations; therefore
many settlers were there to grow cash crops to become wealthy.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time Essay Mr. Boone is not completely evil
because he has good intentions behind many of his misdeeds. He only wants what is best for
Christopher. Mr. Boone accepts Christopher s special needs and wants him to succeed in life. He
helps Christopher a lot more than anyone else, even Judy Boone; Christopher s mother doesn t
help Christopher as much. Although Ed Boone s immoral actions were evil, the good intentions,
helpfulness, and patience that he displays toward his son, Christopher proves that Mr. Boone is
the evil figure with an ultimately good heart. Ed shows a lot of helpfulness to everyone and

Ed stood up for Christopher when someone under estimated him and this let Christopher succeed
on to becoming what he wants to be. Ed Boone has good intentions toward Christopher and only
wishes the best for him, even though his actions and decisions are not always the best. He hid the
letters, that Christopher s mother sent Christopher. He also lied to Christopher about his mother,
telling Christopher that she died of a heart attack. Even though the things Ed did look evil and bad
hearted, he did it out of love. Just like he killed Wellington, Mrs. Shears dog, because he loved her
and she rejected him, and Ed got out of control. Ed lied and hid the letters from Christopher
because Christopher, being a person with special needs, did not feel sad and take the divorce and
separation of his parents too deeply and harshly. Ed also did this so Christopher would not leave
him, because Ed loves him a lot. After Ed found out that Christopher read the letters, he apologized
and said, I m sorry, Christopher, I m so, so sorry [Page 114]. Ed even said and told Christopher it
was for his safety and for good, that it was all for a good cause. Ed said,
I did it for your good, Christopher. Honestly I did. I never meant to lie. I just thought... I just
thought it was better if you didn t know... that... that... I didn t mean to... I was going to show them

Liberal Arts-Based College Education Advantages
In an era of ever increasing costs of college expenses, concerned parents and stressed high school
students face one crucial decision with an important tradeoff to consider: whether or not the alleged
intellectual and personal benefits of a liberal arts based college education substantially outweigh the
overarching societal stigma that such a degree is obsolete and the financial burden of the extensive
student loan debts that many families may incur as a result of this type of education. For these
families and their minds spinning with unanswered questions, Fareed Zakaria takes the complicated
matter and confronts it head on, arguing that a liberal artseducated population is a necessity for the
success of both the individuals themselves and

Chemical Test Paper
A. There a many different test that are chemical and physical that we could use for our soil
sample. One physical test that can be performed is a particle size distribution of a soil sample.
For this test, you get your sample of soil and place it in a jar. You then add water, a drop of soap,
and shake the jar. After a length of time the contents of soilwill develop into layers. You would
then see the makeup of your soil with sand being at the bottom, silt in the middle, and clay at the
top. You can then find the distribution of the soil and determine the soil texture. This soil test
could help a cooperative extension service to determine if they need to add more contents like
sand, silt, or clay so it will increase the growth of plants on that particular area where the soil is
growing. A chemical test that can be preformed is a PH test to get the acidity of the soil. You
test this by placing PH paper in soil concentration and the color change will indicate the PH of the
soil. The a high PH shows the level of the base while the low PH will show how acidic the soil is.
This is important to a recommendation because the PH can affect nutrients, minerals and growth....

The Life Of Frederick Douglas By Harriet Jacob
Menal ElmalikiBlessings and Woe The glaring, almost scorching sun beats down on the backs
of the enslaved. The sweat rolls down, past their scared backs and down to the heel of their tired
aching feet. The plantations roar of devastation, but not of its crops but the people that tend to
it. From dusk they rise and to the rake of night they rest, laden with what little sleep, and what
little time they have to dream. Their aching scars tell tales far beyond, their eyes seen what no
other, and their ears hear like no other; the slaves, encumbered as they are living history.
Freedom is all but a dream, and those who dare to even dream or think are those who are not
blind and know that freedom is their right. Slavery has weakened the back and soul of Frederick
Douglas but surely not his mind and not even slavery can destroy the paramountcy of
motherhood and community as Harriet Jacob s simply shown. In after all, slavery has made
Frederick a man and Harriet, a mother. In the Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, An
American Slave, by Frederick Douglass, it details a momentous passage of conquering
education and reconquering manhood; gaining glory even though he was left to his own
devices from an early age dissimilar to Harriet Jacobs in the Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.
Family values are destroyed, can we even say some existed; what it means to be a man, a husband,
and a mother is a trial all on its own. Slavery is a troubling situation; it can

Tropical Rainforest Biome
The biome I have chosen is the Tropical Rainforest. The tropical rainforest has two different
seasons: a dry season and wet season. The rainforest does not have the four seasons we go
through here in the deciduous forest. The dry and wet seasons usually last for about six months.
The dry season is where there is a low amount of rainfall and the wet season is where there is a
large amount. Here in the rainforestyou can find many different animals. There is the African
Forest Elephant its weighs around 6,000 lbs as an adult. This elephant adapts to the rainforest by
living in dense forests. Then there is the bengal tiger its weighs around 575 lbs and has beautiful
orange and white fur with black stripes. It adapts by being sneaky and nocturnal this helps him
catch prey. Also there is the Wagler s Pit Viper which can grow up to 4 feet. It adapts by being
able to sense heat and catch warm blooded animals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here you can find a Barbados Lily. It is a beautiful soft orange lily that blooms for 10 months out
of the year. It adapts by not requiring a lot of sun. Also there is the Adiantum capillus veneris. It is
a fern that is green and can grow up to 6 12 inches. This plant adapts by being able to grow in moist
areas. Then there is the Toothed Clubmoss. This plant adapts by growing in layers. The temperature
in this biome averages from 64 ℉ to 93℉. The temperature varies little in change. The
yearly rainfall here is around 80 400 inches. The yearly rainfall is distributed evenly. The latitude
of the tropical rainforest is 15 В° to 25В° North and South. This biome is located near the
equator. This biome is found all around the world. The soil in this biome is poor in nutrients and

Use Of Bearings And Its Impact On Society
The use of bearings has been emerging in the society for a few years now. It is a lot more
common to see people use bearings to find angles and work out where an object or area might be
located. The use of a compass is also key in finding bearings as the compass shows the true north
and from there the bearing of a point from another point can be calculated. It is key to always
begin facing north is the bearing calculated is to be found in the true north format. The use of the
Geographic Coordinate Systemis also a common use in society, this system uses two sets of
numbers (longitudeand latitude) to locate and identify every single spot of the Earth to a certain
extent of decimal places. This is the most commonly used system to plot the coordinates of a place
on Earth, it is also the most accurate system known to humanity.
The purpose of this investigation is to use bearings in everyday life. gain a deeper understanding
of bearings and see a few examples of how bearings are used in daily life will be explored as a
demonstration. The aim of this investigation was to be able to determine where a spot is located
in comparison to another through the use of bearings and geographic coordinates. Once this
investigation is complete it is expected to be able to use bearings to determine the location of
another point from the base point and draw a reasonably accurate diagram of where that point
lays. Also it is expected to be able to use bearings to connect three points and work out

How to Save an Animal Life Essay
How to Save a Life
I remember when I was 11 years old and my dog, Happy, was sick with cancer. Since the moment
we rescued Happy he was the sweetest, most energetic pet I had ever seen. He remained this way
over the many years that we had him, hence, his name. I remember the day we decided it was
time to let go. We took Happy to the veterinarian clinic and were taken into a little room. All four
of us, my brother, my parents, and I, huddled around Happy as he was lying on the counter. The
veterinarian gave us some time to spend with him alone and say our goodbyes. When she returned
she asked if we were ready and gave him an injection that would take him away from this world
forever. Happy was euthanized due to his illness. As terribly... Show more content on

In my opinion, this is a terrible issue. These animals are dying because of this with no fault of
their own. If the overpopulation in shelters continues we will not have a place to put all of these
animals except for in the ground. A shelter is supposed to be used as a safe place for lost,
homeless pets, but it is being abused and turned into a trashcan due to the overpopulation. Some
may argue that there are no kill shelters, and although that is true to some extent, it is not entirely
true. The sad truth is that in most cases even when a shelter calls themselves a no kill shelter it
simply means they give the dogs they don t want to a shelter that IS a kill shelter (Maguire).
Overpopulation is costing animals their lives. Do you know what else overpopulation is costing?
Us. It costs the United States taxpayers $2 billion a year to impound, shelter, euthanize, and
dispose of homeless animals ( Animal Overpopulation ). These statistics are hard to take in, but
they are very real and this is why I think something needs to change.
So why is this happening? There are many things that can contribute to the massive amount of
animals entering shelters every year. Some of the reasons for overpopulation can be giving up
problematic or even old, sick pets, and continuing to over produce pets through breeding and the
lack of neutering or spaying. Many people think animals in shelters are pets that have been

To obtain the reason behind the lowered morale, a ten question survey was conducted of existing
employees to understand company strengths as well as areas for needed improvement.
Employees were asked questions such as, do your enjoy working at BIMS, are you paid fairly,
does management treat you well, and do you enjoy your assigned shift (University of Phoenix
Material, 2013) . As a 24 hour operation hypothesis range from employees not working the times
they need, to addressing employee pride in their work that comes along with fair treatment by
managerial staff members and fair compensation for services provided. Debbie Horner, the HR
manager responsible for this survey felt the problem was concentrated in employee motivation and
felt that this was the area that needed most improvement. Possible solutions to this are incentive
competitions, shift changes, and change in managerial approach to individual needs to raise
employee self worth and satisfaction.
Both quantitative and qualitative data was collected from the survey. Using the quantitative data the
Human Resource Manager Debbie Horner posed questions that varied from the numbers one
through five. One was the worst rating and five was the best. Utilizing this data the human resource

  • 2. Media s Effect On The Black Society Media has a detrimental effect on the black society. Blacks have very little, if any control in what the media displays. How many African American Television network companies are there? How many African American Television companies are competing with the big named companies who rack in millions or billions of dollars? It is logical to say whomever controls the media, controls the mind. Television is a common form of media . A lot of things that we watch has been carefully hand picked and crafted for blacks but not by blacks. There are currently no Black owned television networks. The question is; who is feeding our minds? Television network companies are almost completely dominated by middle aged to elderly Caucasian male. Many may assume that BET is black owned; however as of 2001 BET has been taken over by Viacom . Who owns Viacom? Sumner Redstone, an elderly Caucasian male. BET is the most prominent network in targeting Black households and reaches over 90 Million households. Having no black owned television networks lead to a non black persons perception of black peopleand black culture. This displays a fabricated experience and idealism of what these networks think black people are or should be. It is equivalent to an individual making a documentary on what it is like being Oprah Winfrey but they are not Oprah. Winfrey. (Viacom Accquires BET, 2015) The media s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moral Dilemmas Of The Louisiana Purchase The Louisiana Purchase posed several significant moral dilemmas for President Thomas Jefferson, among these were he believed that federal government should not practice any powers those were not granted by the Constitution. On other hand he stepped up to buy Louisiana territory and he desperately tried to get the Louisiana territory for the new nation but he was not granted evidently to do so under the Constitution. Ultimately, Jefferson was able to make it happened to purchase the Louisiana territory. According to his decisions, he was capable of classifying his beliefs and actions and the significance of Louisiana Purchase he posted on national expansion. Jefferson believed in keeping the United States as agricultural land, and that s for it required to expand the United States geographically to keep a principled republic. Some people believed that if United States could get too large the republics would not be able to act properly, and unquestionable disagreed. It might be right or wrong even you could say it was constitutional or not, personally I believe that the purchase of Louisiana territory was a conclusive attempt of Thomas Jefferson and that made the nation s expansion. In addition, it brought up the platform for the settlement and gained the Southwest and the Oregon County. Enroute dispatched advised that the homeowner, Susan Cwanila, had called 911 to report a burglary to her residence. I arrived on scene and contacted Susan and her boyfriend, Wayne Briggs, who also lives at the address. Susan stated that they both left the residence this morning around 0800 hours and when they returned home they noticed that someone had forced entry to their residence. Susan stated that they noticed someone had attempted to break open a double panel window, however, only the first window was broken and no signs of access to the residence were made at that point. However, also on the back side of the residence they located another window which had been broken. Upon entering through that window, access could have been made to the residence. Wayne also stated that damage was found on the window style air conditioning unit on the side of the residence. • 5. Three Types of Friends Essay A friend is defined as someone emotionally close or somebody who trusts and is fond of another. The affect that a person one calls his or her acquaintance can sometimes be very deep and heartfelt. From my experience, I have encountered three types of friends: the chronic complainer, the staller, and the know it all. A chronic complainer is a he or she that is fault finding. Chronic complainers choose to blame someone else or something for his or her actions. Also, they are uncertain about what should be done. I have this friend that I consider a chronic complainer; she never takes the blame for anything and no matter what the situation is she s going to find a problem. There have been plenty of times that we would go out to eat, and our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The staller would not be of any help with moving or any other hard job. The person I know that fits this description is not a friend but actually a family member. This person comes to do the simplest job ever, but has to call two or three more people to come help him out. Instead of him helping he stands there and gives out orders to everyone else. He also dose not get his important business handled; he likes to sit around and wait until the last minute or until it s too late before he tries to do anything about a situation. This is not someone who you would want helping you with some very important job. Last but not least is the know it all. The know it all acts superior and makes others feel stupid. They also maybe bullheaded and impatient; know it alls really don need or want any help. One of my closest friends is a prime example of a know it all. She knows everything that is discussed and want let anyone else put there say so in about the topic. One day one of my cousins and I were talking about the cost of daycare and she just cut both of us off and went on talking about the different costs. She didn t know what she was talking about because she dose not have any kids. • 7. Rationalization On Premarital Sex Is Immoral Mohammed Miah Professor Dowd ENWR 105/E3 3 11 November 2014 Rationalization on Premarital Sex For an extensive period of time, it was considered sinful and immoral, but in the beginning of this century, it found its way into the social norm. Many people today believe it is acceptable, but there are still numerous people, including myself, who find the practice of premarital sex to be wrong at first glance regardless of what the situation may be. The thought of whether or not the practice is acceptable varies from person to person based on their upbringing and knowledge on the topic. Due to the countless morbid and life changing consequences, including a multitude of diseases and unwanted pregnancies, people, such as myself, rationalize on the opinion that premarital sex is immoral and should not be practiced. In his argument titled The Moral Instinct, Pinker identifies two different methods that people use to conclude on whether an action, idea, or practice is moral or immoral; he refers to them as moral reasoning and moral rationalization (462). Moral reasoning can be defined as analyzing a situation first to make a judgment/conclusion on that situation (Pinker 462). On the other hand, moral rationalization is the opposite and is defined as beginning with the conclusion, coughed up by an unconscious emotion, and then working backward to a plausible justification (Pinker 462). In other words, moral rationalization is the first instinct that we get about something. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, this positive and seemingly heaven sent bestowal is laced with dismay and mayhem, for there are numerous outcomes this check could produce not all of which are accomplishable. Meanwhile, said person s family is being torn asunder by all of these possible outcomes since each is persistently continuing to pester and demand the personwho received the check to use it in the way that each of the family members personally believe. It is always a burdensome choice, whether to consider an individual, the majority, or the minorities, yet this is the dilemma thrust upon one woman in Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. In writing this impossible circumstance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accentuating the lack of passion and common courtesy Walter has for his wife, Ruth, in this particular scene, Hansberry is, in the beginning, ingraining in her readers minds how detestably this man treats his wife. However, this absolute disregard for his wife is completely transformed after Mama, the woman who is burdened with the dilemma, decides to satisfy the needs of the majority and purchases a house which will be advantageous for everyone, whether they were pleased with the decision or not. His whole being appears to convert into its polar opposite, as shown through the stage direction, He dances over to Ruth and tries to get her to dance with him. She gives in at last to his raunchiness and in a fit of giggles allows herself to be drawn into his mood (112). The author illustrates how his actions and mentality, thus their relationship, evolved over a short period resulting from the purchase of the house, which was originally intended to appease the majority, since not everyone initially approved of this use of the money. Therefore, this altering of mindset and relationship conveys that, by selecting the choice best suited for the majority, one may unknowingly be selecting an option that becomes best suited for everyone and that is eventually unanimously agreed upon. In addition to this, it it always best to comply with the needs of the majority since the majority may also include what is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here are some of the things you should consider before making your purchase: Length The length of a wakeboard is extremely important because it needs to correspond appropriately to your height, your riding stance and your weight. If a wakeboard isn t long enough for your body, you may not be able to float it properly. Likewise, different wakeboard lengths conform better to different riding styles. Shorter wakeboards are usually easier to spin and maneuver in the air during jumps. On the flip side, landings may be more difficult because of the shorter surface area. The modern world ranks businesses on their CSR and directs a significant amount of publicity towards companies who are focused on the health and welfare of their customers and the earth. The traditional mindset concerning CSR puts business and society at odds, when in reality they are interdependent and reliant on each other. The coughing grouchy judge(who later dies of a heart attack) sneers across his desk at the young Rudy Bailor and wheezes: This lawsuit bothers me Mr. Bailor! I m inclined to grant the motion to dismiss. Now...you can re file it in Federal court, you know...take it somewhere else (cough), I don t want it clogging up my docket!!! This scene has always impressed upon me the reluctance and recalcitrance of well established judges refusing to not only embrace difficult cases to the fullest of their ability and potential, but who also willfully and knowingly avoid cases that stand to challenge established legal precedent, or stare decisis, in the pursuit of justice. With this point in mind, in evaluating many of the legal cases we have reviewed throughout our course, the one aspect of law that particularly intrigues me, and is most glaring with respect to the cause of justice, is what appears to be many instances of the courts finding ways to avoid or ... Clark Sugata Racial Inequality and Justice Justice is a term that should not only prefer to different portions of distribution, but also to the institutional conditions to develop individual capabilities, as well as cooperative communication. Under this conception of justice, many people in the U.S. consider disciplinary justice as an appropriate approach to sustain social order. However, it seems like there are more chances that the minorities are targets of the inequality in justice system, especially in socio economic and political problems. Even if people of color were fully distributed in the capitalist hierarchy like white people, racism is still a big problem of the inequality system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the National Center for Access to Justice (2015), a network of pro bono legal service providers representing the poor has arisen to address the need of justice gap, but more than half of those who seek help are turned away, as a result of unavailable adequate public funds and private donations. By reducing the pro bono law firms, legislators indirectly thrust the poor into lack access of finding qualified attorneys to represent themselves in bureaucratic proceedings. Rhode (2005) suggests that in order to maintain the fairness of American justice, we need to press reforms in political institutions, which has deep ideological and structural roots (p. 126). Those reforms include, but not limited to, the distribution of legal self help materials, the procedures of resolving disputes without lawyers or court hearings, the expansion of pro bono services, and the adequate funding of legal aid agencies (Rhode, 2005, p. 126 134). Even though our laws can policies can change over time, I believe Rhode s suggestions on reforms may have some involved complications due to the lack of political actions, civil disobedience, and direct actions. The United States is a dreadfully unequal society in terms of the distributions of material wealth, especially the outstanding benefits and privileges that accumulate to wealth. This inequality is enormous, regardless of race. The concept of an eye for an eye is heavily emphasized throughout the story and its characters. Therefore is someone is murdered, than a next of kin or relative will extract vengeance upon the murderer. Which thus turns an attempt at justice into simply another tragedy. And then a new chosen one will then later be selected to seek and obtain revenge on the previous wrongdoer in which the cycle continues. The furies within the play also play a crucial role in demonstrating the ruthless and unending nature of revenge through their methods of torturing and haunting the martyr s blood related family for eternity.... Russia would then do the exact same or possibly even worse directed at the United States. Our blindness to come to the attention of this seemingly chronic problem within our world has nearly lead humankind to the brink of its own destruction on many different occasions. Of which, the closest humankind has gotten to destroying itself throughout our history was during the brief time frame of the cuban missile crisis during the Cold War. We got so close in fact, that the simple push of a button could have lead to total nuclear annihilation. Therefore, the principle of revenge has been with us in our darkest moments as well as our everyday lives. And even in our legal and justice systems the same principle applies. Why is a man who committed murder given the death penalty? Since when does two wrongs equal one right? These are the questions we must ask ourselves as we examine the meaning behind humankind s need for the extraction of revenge. The idea of revenge has existed as a staple of human civilization for as long as we as a species can remember. According to Aristotle, if a person has obtained certain virtues, it will be reflected in their behavior. Engineers have a responsibility to protect the public from harm, as well as promote the public s wellbeing. Therefore, an engineer must contain several vital character traits, or virtues, in order to perform their job accordingly. In this paper, virtueethics will be further evaluated as well as applied to the engineering discipline. In order to understand Aristotle s virtue ethics, the words eudaimonia and arГЄte must be acknowledged. Eudaimonia is defined as happiness or flourishing. This state of eudaimonia is achieved by striving for goals in life, which in turn results in the individual s success and happiness. The individual is always setting new goals in order to become the best person they can be. ArГЄte, on the other hand, is defined as a virtue, or what makes something outstanding. Self driving cars are becoming more of a reality every day and the struggle of what it should do in an emergency has become a constant debate of ethics and morality. English philosopher John Stuart, author of Utilitarianism, believes people should seek the greatest good of their actions. Meanwhile, German philosopher Immanuel Kant, supports deontology (the idea that the only true moral action is that which is made absent of any self desire and will not cause any foreseen harm to another) in his book The Metaphysics of Morals. As Mill puts it in his book According to the greatest happiness principle as I have explained it, The ultimate end. . . ., for the sake of which all other things are desirable (whether we are considering our own good or that of other people) is an existence as free as possible from pain and as rich as possible in enjoyments (Mill). • 25. Analysis of Richard Kenney s Aubade Essay An aubade is a poem that greets the dawn and characteristically involves the parting of lovers. This particular aubade describes an everyday morning in the life of the speaker, who seems to be going to work or has some other task which requires him to be up at five o clock. Its so early in the morning that it is still dark outside, and he can see the stars and the moon still bright in the sky. The temperature outside is freezing, which contributes much to the way he describes things in the poem. This is a very lyrical poem. The speaker s emotions and intentions are made very clear in very inconspicuous ways. The subtle repetition of certain words and images give the poem a very distinct tone. For example, the repetition of the words... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arc has to do with the book s idea of eternal return, Nietzsche s ideas of the eternal recurrence of time. However, although Kundera is a South Asian writer, the pick up truck and the icebox suggest a very American setting. In many ways, this poem is unusual in its subject. It deters in several ways from a typical aubade, such as Donne s The Sun Rising or the internal aubade introducing the bird narrator in Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde. For this poem, it is important to note that rather than detailing the parting of lovers, this poem addresses a parting which has already taken place. The speaker is likely driving away from his love, having left her, and imagining her still asleep. The last line of the poem has a certain intimacy to it, that even though they are apart, in the speaker s mind they are still joined by this moment, as he seems to have an awareness or thoughtfulness regarding what she is doing as he moves further away. Also, the speaker in an aubade is usually discontented that he has to leave his love; this speaker is somehow consoled by the knowledge that a parting is never really a parting (his driving off is somehow symbolic of this.) It is also interesting to note that this aubade doesn t greet the sun; rather it mentions the moon instead. This poem also uses many symbolic images. Many of the parts of the car which he describes utilize poetic devices and contribute to the poem s theme. The spark and arc is an interesting use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Literary Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Water Is Taught By... Emily Dickinson is a well respected poet from the New England area. Although she was not recognized during her lifetime, the close to 1,800 poems are well known to people who study American Literature. One of her poems, Water, is Taught by Thirst , conveys the message of appreciating what you have instead of waiting for it to disappear by taking a closer look at the poem and evaluating the lines, people can connect to the message by looking at a few things they appreciate in life. By evaluating Water, is Taught by Thirst the reader can have a broader understanding of the theme, appreciate what you have before they vanish before you realize it. Such as the second line, Dickinson mentions land, by the oceans passed which I interpreted as the absence of land. This also means she sees the land as a home, shelter, a place to rest and re energize. To her this is very dear, she loved to stay isolated and frankly it is necessary to have somewhere to call home and relax the mind to let the thoughts flow. Also in line 4, the writer talks about appreciating peace. Line 4 of the poem says Peace by its battles told , I interpret this such as we miss and understand peace in the middle of battle, war, conflict, and beef. Only during times of need does someone ever truly appreciate something. In reflecting on my life and on the concept of appreciation, I can relate because of my appreciation for the things I have in my life. One of the many things I appreciate is my little chihuahua, he is brown with a hint of gold. His attitude is not always the best, like sometimes he will ignore me, but for the most part he is obedient. He is practically family or even more than that. It s hard but it s as if he is an extension or piece of me. Another thing I appreciate but can sometimes lose sight of is my parents, they love me a lot and there are times I forget that they are human beings and they have their own problems. I forget what they have been through, I remember the struggle they had to overcome just for me to ask every day to borrow their car because mine was messed up. • 32. Geography Of The Indus River Barrett, EmilyPeriod 6 4/30/15 Geography The Indus River is located on the northwestern part of the sub continent with other rivers draining into it. Another river called the Ganges River was east of the Indus River. The climate was tropical and contained seasonal winds called monsoons. Monsoons during the winter were dry and went from land to the sea, letting little rain fall on the land. During summer monsoons wet winds go from ocean to land bringing rain with it. The mountain ranges, the Himalayas and Hindu Kush, were located near the north. The first civilization in the sub continent grew around the Indus River; later another civilization grew around the Ganges River. The rivers would flood and this leaves behind rich soils which makes plentiful crops that fed the civilization. Agriculture depends on the summer monsoon. If rain comes, there are no problems, but if it comes late or not at all crops die and people starve. Since they could not always depend on the monsoons they made irrigation channels that led to their crops. The Himalayas and Hindu Kush separated the sub continent from the rest of Asia. However, this recognizable household appliance has undergone several significant advancements since its initial invention, which has been traced back to Europe in the 1300s (Smoothing Iron, 2016). Three major advancements of the iron occurred in the 19th century which revolutionize the ironingprocess; the Victorian Iron, Mrs Potts removable handle sadiron and the electric iron. Influenced by economic growth, societal expectations and technological and scientific advancements the iron under went changes in form, meaning and purpose. The three major changes can be analysed to reveal what influenced the change and the resulting impact on the user and user experience. The starting point: The Middle Ages saw the invention of the sadiron, a flat piece of iron which was heated then pressed on to clothing to remove creases. For several centuries ironing process involved: 1. The iron was heated over a fire or on stove. Experience revealed when the iron was hot enough for use but not too hot to scold the clothing 2. All other preparation of the plant are derived from this base form. Most cannabis plants have either male or female flowers, while some plants have both. Male flowers are more yellow in color and grow in the form of elongated clusters along leaves. Female flowers grow in more spike shaped clusters and remain dark green in color for about a month after blossoming, when the seed ripens (Bonsor). Smoking is the most common way of consuming marijuana. The dried plant is lit on fire in a contained method so that the smoke can be inhaled. Another method of consumption is to extract the oil from the plant and use it to prepare foods, typically baked goods. When ingesting the oil, a significant amount of THC enters the bloodstream through the stomach and travels to the brain, where it has a similar effect to smoking it. In other parts of the world, especially in Asia and the Middle East, cannabis is used to make teas, butters, or pastes that are consumed in various ways (Goode). The THC chemical (tetrahydrocannibinol) is the main active ingredient in marijuana that causes its psychological and physical effects on the body. It mainly affects the communications system in the brain and body. Scientists have called this system the endocannibinol system (or EC system). One physical test that can be performed is a particle size distribution of a soil sample. For this test, you get your sample of soil and place it in a jar. You then add water, a drop of soap, and shake the jar. After a length of time the contents of soilwill develop into layers. You would then see the makeup of your soil with sand being at the bottom, silt in the middle, and clay at the top. You can then find the distribution of the soil and determine the soil texture. This soil test could help a cooperative extension service to determine if they need to add more contents like sand, silt, or clay so it will increase the growth of plants on that particular area where the soil is growing. A chemical test that can be preformed is a PH test to get the acidity of the soil. You test this by placing PH paper in soil concentration and the color change will indicate the PH of the soil. The a high PH shows the level of the base while the low PH will show how acidic the soil is. This is important to a recommendation because the PH can affect nutrients, minerals and growth.... • 52. The Life Of Frederick Douglas By Harriet Jacob Menal ElmalikiBlessings and Woe The glaring, almost scorching sun beats down on the backs of the enslaved. The sweat rolls down, past their scared backs and down to the heel of their tired aching feet. The plantations roar of devastation, but not of its crops but the people that tend to it. From dusk they rise and to the rake of night they rest, laden with what little sleep, and what little time they have to dream. Their aching scars tell tales far beyond, their eyes seen what no other, and their ears hear like no other; the slaves, encumbered as they are living history. Freedom is all but a dream, and those who dare to even dream or think are those who are not blind and know that freedom is their right. Slavery has weakened the back and soul of Frederick Douglas but surely not his mind and not even slavery can destroy the paramountcy of motherhood and community as Harriet Jacob s simply shown. In after all, slavery has made Frederick a man and Harriet, a mother. In the Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave, by Frederick Douglass, it details a momentous passage of conquering education and reconquering manhood; gaining glory even though he was left to his own devices from an early age dissimilar to Harriet Jacobs in the Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. Family values are destroyed, can we even say some existed; what it means to be a man, a husband, and a mother is a trial all on its own. Slavery is a troubling situation; it can ... • 56. Use Of Bearings And Its Impact On Society The use of bearings has been emerging in the society for a few years now. It is a lot more common to see people use bearings to find angles and work out where an object or area might be located. The use of a compass is also key in finding bearings as the compass shows the true north and from there the bearing of a point from another point can be calculated. It is key to always begin facing north is the bearing calculated is to be found in the true north format. The use of the Geographic Coordinate Systemis also a common use in society, this system uses two sets of numbers (longitudeand latitude) to locate and identify every single spot of the Earth to a certain extent of decimal places. This is the most commonly used system to plot the coordinates of a place on Earth, it is also the most accurate system known to humanity. The purpose of this investigation is to use bearings in everyday life. gain a deeper understanding of bearings and see a few examples of how bearings are used in daily life will be explored as a demonstration. The aim of this investigation was to be able to determine where a spot is located in comparison to another through the use of bearings and geographic coordinates. If the overpopulation in shelters continues we will not have a place to put all of these animals except for in the ground. A shelter is supposed to be used as a safe place for lost, homeless pets, but it is being abused and turned into a trashcan due to the overpopulation. Some may argue that there are no kill shelters, and although that is true to some extent, it is not entirely true. The sad truth is that in most cases even when a shelter calls themselves a no kill shelter it simply means they give the dogs they don t want to a shelter that IS a kill shelter (Maguire). Overpopulation is costing animals their lives. Do you know what else overpopulation is costing? Us. It costs the United States taxpayers $2 billion a year to impound, shelter, euthanize, and dispose of homeless animals ( Animal Overpopulation ). These statistics are hard to take in, but they are very real and this is why I think something needs to change. So why is this happening? There are many things that can contribute to the massive amount of animals entering shelters every year.
