2. Company overview
• Started in 1942 by four entrepreneurs:
Champaklal choksey, Chimanlal choksey,
Suryakant Dani and Arvind Vakil as “ASIAN OIL
& PAINTS COMPANY.”
• Within three years, their turnover reached 3.5
lacs.
• Started with a strategy “Going to where
Consumer is”.
• In 1967, Asian paints became the 10th largest
paint company in the world.

• Paint industry estimated at Rs. 135bn.
• Unorganized sector accounts to 35% of paint
market.
• Volume growth estimated at 15%.
• India’s share in the world paint market is 0.6%.
• Per capita consumption of paint in India is
1.2kg/annum.

5. SCM/ERP
• Asian Paints was also one of the first paint companies to
use Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) software for streamlining and
automating its processes. It selected the SCM solution
offered by i2 Technologies and later also started using
SAP's ERP solution, much before other companies
adopted similar solutions. This helped the company to
connect to all their vendors and suppliers.

• Asian Paints was well aware of the advantages of SAP
applications and technology.
• Asian Paints had been using the SAP ERP application to
support financials, procurement, supply chain
management, and other key processes.
• AP also uses SAP NetWeaver to solve integration issues
and support custom development.
• The need for a more robust and comprehensive CRM
application.
• SAP CRM was capable of giving Asian Paints required
360-degree view of its stakeholders.

• The new release of SAP CRM included a number of features & functions that
could help the company become more agile and efficient.
• Powered by the SAP NetWeaver technology platform, SAP business
applications like SAP CRM enable companies to take full advantage of prebuilt
enterprise services when modifying or enhancing business processes.
• Enabled sales reps to suggest relevant products or services based on specific
customer preferences or experiences.
Improving User Productivity
• The new release of SAP CRM was considerably easier for end users to learn
and master.
• With role-oriented interfaces and improved screen layouts, the software could
help increase user productivity and reduce training duties for IT personnel.
• Newer SAP CRM application would be much easier to configure and takes
much less time to add or enhance functionality and set it rolling.
