IdentIfIcatIon
•The promotion policy of the bank.
• Management negative attitude towards kartar Singh and
employee.
• And its unwanted promotion. Kartar Singh Joined Lakshmi
Bank as a clerk. In 1992 obtaining professional qualification
CAIIB he applied for promotion into officer carder but not
promoted because of low score in written exam.
• Kartar Singh rated as hard working ambitious man, he was
transfer to the DU Campus branch.
• In 1996 he attempt the second opportunity of promotion, but
because of it union activities which creates obstacle to him.
• And because of frustration he leave the job.
Question 1) Comment on the promotion poliCy of
the bank, using inputs from the above Case.
• Answer : The Bank Internal promotion policy of
employee based on the written test and interview
score.
•Passing the written exam is main criteria of
promotion.
•Interview method is wrong in the case because
rejection of employee on the based of his other
activities and interpersonal skill.
Question 2) Do you think management’s aCtion of
seleCting kartar as an offiCer after 13 year’s of
serviCe in the right DireCtion? Why? Why not?
•Answer : The Selection of Kartar Singh as an
officer is a wrong direction and decision because of
the recommendation of other employee the
management give promotion to him.
•Bank don’t give it promotion on its experience and
seniority.
• Bank know that’s Kartar Singh is hard working
employee, but his activities and interpersonal skill
creates negative image, which is wrong.
