4. HISTORY
Egyptians had discovered the art of socks making
with cushioned feet. When the Pharos were buried
in the pyramids, food, gold to socks were buried
along believing about the after life

century : socks became stockinet and very
popular in Europe
In 15th
century – hosiery was trend
1598: William Lees invention of knitting machine
made a huge remark in the making of hosiery
In 18th
century tights were invented and worn
inside dresses. Garters were started to be in trend.
Silk, cotton and wool were used
In 1940: post world war II trend for nylon
stocking grew:
Cotton and silk was replaced by nylon
