Hootsuite is a tool
designed to help
professionals manage
multiple social media
accounts .

It manages social media
accounts from 1 login.
Automated content
monitoring and posting.
Measures social media
performance with analytics.

Start by signing up for a
Hootsuite account in:
https://hootsuite.com/

1. Create a Hootsuite
Account

Scroll to “Plans” and choose
“Free”.

Click on “Free”.

These are the features you
get with the free version.

Click on “Get Started – Free”.

A “Sign Up” box will appear
which will require info.

Fill-in the required info and
click “Account”.

This will appear indicating that
you have created your
account.

You will also receive a notification
in your e-mail confirming your
registration.

This confirms that you have
accomplished step 1 or that your
account has been created.

2. Connect your
Social Networks

Second step is to “Add Social
Networks”

Let’s start by adding “Facebook.
Click on “Facebook”.

A pop-up box will ask that you
type in email and password.

Fill-in the required info.

Click “Log-in”.

This box will appear. Click
“Continue”.

Another box will appear. You
have the option to change
settings.

Scroll down and click “Okay”.

A new pop-up box will appear.
Click “OK”.

You have the option to
“Choose what you allow” by
clicking on this.

These are the options once you
click on “Choose what you
allow”.

Or you may choose to allow it
“Default” settings and just click
on “Okay”.

It will be indicated that you have
“Added” your FB account.

Now let’s add a “Twitter”
account. Click on “Twitter”.

A pop-up will appear asking for
your Twitter “User name” and
“Password”.

Type in your “User name” and
“Password”.

Click “Authorize app”.

At this point, it will be indicated
that you have added a Facebook
and Twitter account.

Click “Continue” if you no longer
wish to add other accounts..

If otherwise, keep on
adding other social media
accounts as you want.

Click “Continue” after you
have added all accounts you
want.

A new pop-up will appear.
Click “Done adding social
networks”

Your Hootsuite “dashboard”
will open.

On left side of dashboard are
the menu for the commands

On the lower right is a guide
to Hootsuite.

How to add more social
media accounts to
Hootsuite.

Click “Streams” icon, here you
will find “+Add Social
Network”.

Click the “+Add social
network”.

Let’s say that we would like to
add an “Instagram Account”.

Click “Connect with
Instagram”.

A pop-up for accessing
Instagram will appear.

Fill-in with your username
and password and click “Log-
in”.

A pop-up for authorization will
appear, click “Authorize”.

A pop-up will appear and ask
you to “Set publishing now”.

A pop-up ask you to type the
phone number in your mobile
device to send the link to
Hootsuite app.

Click “Next Step”.

We’ve now successfully
added Instagram to
Hootsuite! Click “Done”.

Click “Ok, Got it” on this
notification.

Click “Log in”.

Hootsuite will ask for
permission to connect with
Instagram. Click “Connect”.

It will prompt “Success”.

Check your mobile app
for a message with a link
from Hootsuite.

Press on the link on the sms
message.

Press “Open URL”.

Press “Internet”.

Press “Continue”.

Hootsuite app will launch.
Press “Skip” billing or credit
card.

Press “Accept”.

Press “Install”.

Installing…

When installing finishes.
Press “Open”.

Sign in using Hootsuite details.

Click “Sign in”.

You will get this “Welcome to
Hootsuite”.

Let’s say for example that
you have posted on
AutoSchedule to
Instagram.

It is different in Instagram.
Push notifications happen
first then you will
manually post the
AutoScheduled message
from Hootsuite.

When the assigned time
comes, open Hootsuite in
mobile phone.

On Hootsuite mobile app,
press on “Notifications”.

Press “Open in Instagram”.

This message will appear.
Click “Yes, I am!”.

This notice will appear.

Your post will open in
Instagram.

Crop, choose filters.

You may tag people, add a
location.

As instructed, long press on
“Write Caption” to paste the
caption

then click “Check sign”.

Your post from Hootsuite is
now posted in Instagram.

You may connect up to 3
social media accounts for
the “free version” and up
to 100 accounts for the
Pro version Hootsuite.

3. Start Creating or
Publishing a Post to
Your Social Media

On Dashboard, select
“Publisher”.

Add the profiles you wish to
post from. It could be more
than one.

Place cursor to this area for
the compose box to appear,

Compose your message or
post inside this box.

For example, we want to post
a picture quote. Click
“Attachment icon”.

Attach a picture quote from
your files.

You have the option to
save as “Draft”,

to add a “Location”,

to Change “Privacy Options”,

Or to “Schedule” a post in
advance.

If “Schedule in Advance” is
clicked, options for date and time
will appear.

If “AutoSchedule” is turned ON,
this will enable Hootsuite to post
the message at the best time
where it will be seen by many.

You may also save it as a
“Draft”.

Prior to sending, we can see that
the post will be sent from FB and
Twitter.

For this example, click
“Send Now”.

4. Setting Up Tabs
and Streams.

“Tabs” and “Streams”
enable us to monitor our
posts.

On dashboard, select
“Streams”.

Click “Add Stream”.

A drop-down menu of options on
what kind of stream will appear.

In This sample, Twitter
profile is selected.

You may choose to create
more than 1 stream for a
social media profile.

If “Messages” and “My Tweest”
are selected, this is how the
streams will appear.

To add another stream, click
“Add Stream”.

Select “Facebook Profile” and
choose “Timeline”.

The result, will be this
“Facebook Timeline Stream”.

On dashboard, all streams will
appear side by side.

How to “refresh” tabs and
streams.

While on publish, click the
arrow down of “Tab”.

Options for “Auto Refresh”
will appear. Choose from
any of these.

There is also a “Manual
Refresh” option on the upper
left of the “Stream”.

If checked in Facebook
profile, this post appears.

In Twitter profile, this tweet
appears.

5. Scheduling Posts

How to set a post on
“Schedule”.

Create a Message or post
here.

Click “Scheduling” icon.

Options for date and time will
appear. Choose.

Select the profile from which you
would like to post. Click
“Schedule”.

Your post will appear on
“Scheduled”.

How to set a post for
“Auto Schedule”.

Create a message. Look for
“AutoSchedule”.

Shift AutoSchedule to “On”.

Click “AutoSchedule” button.

It will appear on Scheduled
like this with a time auto-
generated for posting.

If you click on Past
Scheduled.

It will look like this. If you click
on the auto scheduled posts.

It will open and have the
options for “Delete” and
“Edit”.

Once the assigned time
for posting has lapsed.
The posts will appear on
the streams.

Here is what it looks like.

6. Using Hootlet.

The charm of Hootlet lies in
it’s ability to let you create a
post directly from another
site complete with title, link,
and options for schedule.

Look for Hootlet on “Tools”.
Click “Install Extension”.

A pop-up box will open. Click
“Get Hootlet Now”.

When a new pop-up opens,
click “Add extension”.

Hootlet download will open
from Chrome.

Click “ Add to Chrome”.

A pop-up box will open. Click
“Add extension”.

This signals that it is
downloading.

Notification that Hootlet
chrome extension has been
installed.

If you check on the upper
right of chrome. The owl
icon for Hootsuite appears.

Let’s say, you want to post
this article.

Click on the owl icon in
chrome.

A pop-up with the article’s
title and link will appear.

You can add text, and choose
the profiles.

For this example, click
“AutoSchedule”.

If we wish to post for
Instagram, we have to attach
an image.

To attach an image, click “+”
button.

Click paperclip icon.

Then click “choose files to
upload”.

Once the image has been
uploaded.

Click “AutoSchedule”

AutoSchedule will let
Hootsuite post the
message at the best time
possible.

To check if the post has been
logged, click “Publisher”.

Click “Past Scheduled”.

And here it is.

You can click on it one by one
to check.

You have the choice to
“Delete” the post.

You also have the choice to
“Edit” the post.

Congratulations for getting
this far! You are now a 1
person social media
management center.
