5. 1952.- the ration books are abolished thanks to the Little improvement of the
Spanish economy and the crops
6. 1953.- Spain and USA signed a treaty of friendship and collaboration. This treaty involved for the Franco,s
Spain an international recognition. Spain received economic and military help but in return it had to cede
to USA some estrategic spaces to install there military American bases.
7. 1954: It is reached the GDP per capita
previous to the Spanish Civil War 15 years later of its end

1959.- Plan of Stabilization. A set of economic rules liberalized the Spanish economy- The
results were possitive. Spain grew quickly during 13 years (1960-1973)

17. 1973.- Carrero Blanco, the closest Franco´s coworker and his “heir”, was killed by the terrorist
organization ETA
18. 1975.- Last executions of the Francoism
They were three members of FRAP and two members of ETA
19. 1975.- The Green March, a great march through the Sahara desert
organized by the Moroccan government, claimed for the transfer of the
Spanish Sahara to Morocco. Morocco got its aim.
20. 1975.- Franco died. The dictatorship began to collapse and the
transition to a democracy started its first steps.
22. 1976.- Adolfo Suárez, a politician from the dictatorship but commited with
democracy was appointed as prime minister by the king Juan Carlos I
23. 1977.- The leftist political parties (included the communist one) were
legalized to participate in the first democratic election after the Civil War
24. 1978.- The new democratic constitution was passed. Spain was
formed by 17 autonomous regions
26. 1982. Spain joined NATO. A referemdum done in 1986 reasserts its continuance.
