2. History of Electric Vehicles
• 1834 – EV (tricycle) is made with non rechargeable battery by Thomas
Davenport.
• 1874 – David Salomons created EV with rechargeable battery as Lead-acid
battery was invented.
• 1886 – Frank Sprague built electric trolly for the first time.
• 1899 – 110Km/hr recorded by an EV (Jamais contenent).
3. • 1900 – World record of 180mile per charge is realized.
• 1900 – By this time multiple companies as shown below were manufacturing EV
across USA, England, France e.t.c.
• 1900 – EV and ICEV shared a portion of 38% and 22% respectively of total 4200
vehicle sold in USA that year.
• 1912 – In USA 34,000 EVs were registered and in use.
After all this development, 1930 onwards the number of EVs drastically
declined and disappeared quickly.
