The history of the car is very rich and it
can be divided into a number of eras, based on
the development of means.

- In 1886 the first petrol or gasoline powered car

Steam, combustion, and electrical cars
had all been attempted by the mid 1800's.

a battery did not exist that would allow a car to
move with much speed or over a long distance.

of a boiler explosion also kept the steam engine

24. In 1896 Henry Ford built
the first American
petrol-power car in Detroit.
He called it the Quadricycle
because it had four bicycle.
He also produced the
first cheap car there,
the Model T Ford.
25. In the same year, William Durrant found General
Motors, and Detroit became the Motor City of
America.
26. In Europe, people copied Henry Ford and small cheap
cars became very popular
