MAT Korea Sales Order Solution
I extended a mass sales order change solution to Korea in response to shipment schedules
provided by customer.
This solution saves effort and allowed sales operation from Purchase Requisitions used before,
to proper sales order to capture proper customer demand in APO SNP.
Besides these projects, I was also responsible for Level 3 operational support of EMERALD production
system as part of Application Owner team.
Project:- Dynamic ATP Implementation for Merck Japan (March 2014-Dec 2014)
The project objective was to establish Dynamic ATP process for Merck Japan sales organization. Scope of
the project involved changing static ATP process based only on physical stock, to dynamic ATP based on
MRP elements such as process orders and purchase orders. This enables business to provide reliable
order confirmation to customer within 48 hours. This had been a long term target of Merck Supply chain
management.
As the sole resource assigned to the project, I was responsible for solution proposal, design and
delivery.
I implemented significant changes to all areas of sales, related to order confirmation and
shipment, to perform batch determination at delivery instead of sales order.
Apart from Dynamic ATP checking groups, new outputs for order confirmation and packing list
were created.
New storage locations, additional lead time within export route codes, extension to batch
determination user exit and new batch search criteria were introduced to support this customer
facing business process change.
Project:- EDI Implementation for Performance Materials (April 2013 – Feb 2014)
Goal of the project was to Implement EDI connection for Internal order procurement and supply
between four Asian (China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan), Germany and US subsidiaries of Merck. Scope of
the project included buying and selling functionalities for Performance Materials division. Product
portfolio of several thousand materials and 72 unique linkages were established providing significant
cost benefits to the organization.
As the sole resource for this project, I was responsible for requirement analysis, solution
proposal and prototyping, technical configuration, development, unit testing, acceptance-
testing support and co-ordination, training, deployment and hand over to support team.
For Procurement, a mixture of ALE and EDI functions were used to send and receive purchase
related information. I built a uniform extraction logic for all buying countries, through custom

tables, for mapping data relevant for each buyer/vendor combination. This solution has since
been used to introduce multiple countries and product lines to EDI with only table data and
partner profile mapping.
For Supply, I enabled the EMERALD system as an EDI supplier. Buyers include countries hosted
within EMERALD (Self connection), as well as Germany and USA which are hosted in external
SAP instances. Sales order creation from inbound IDOC, outbound Order Confirmation,
Advanced Shipment Notification and Invoice for selling countries were all introduced to provide
a complete procurement solution.
