High blood pressure, also known as the silent killer, is the leading cause of death in South Africa. It puts strain on the heart and contributes to hardening of the arteries. Some common causes of high blood pressure include age, family history, obesity, physical inactivity, smoking, excessive alcohol intake, high salt diet, stress, diabetes, and certain medications. To help avoid high blood pressure, one should change their lifestyle by eating more raw foods, drinking more water, exercising daily, spending time in the sun, and avoiding causes such as smoking, excessive drinking, and an unhealthy diet.
