Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness,
and preach the baptism of repentance for the

The first step of obedience is elementary and
rewarded with the recognition of God’s
approval.

Matt 4:1
1) Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the
wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
In our text it is the Spirit that leads and guides
the Son of Man into the Devils desert.

4. God does not do things the way man thinks he
should.
When he freed Israel from Egypt, he led them
the long way through the wilderness.
Gods’ way is in the red sea, and through the
furnace of affliction.
Ezek 3:10 Moreover he said unto me, Son
of man,
all my words that I shall speak unto thee
receive in thine heart, and hear with thine
ears.
Ezek 3:12 Then the spirit took me up, and I
heard behind me a voice of a great rushing,
saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD
from his place.

5. Ezek 3:14-15 14 So the spirit lifted me
up, and took me away, and I went in
bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the
hand of the LORD was strong upon me.
15 Then I came to them of the captivity at

and I sat where they sat, and remained there
astonished among them seven days.
Jesus ministry has this same purpose,
he comes to those held captive and
leads captivity captive. But in Mathew
4 that is still 3 ½ years off.

8) Though he were a Son, yet learned he
obedience by the things which he suffered;

2) Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in
those days he did eat nothing: and when they
were ended, he afterward hungered.

6. The testing is the training. You don’t
workout because you are strong, that is what
makes you strong.

7. Matt 4:3
3) And when the tempter came to him, he said,
If thou be the Son of God, command that these
stones be made bread.
He will do this for Israel in the Tribulation,
but this is not the time for that.
Exod 16:15 And when the children of
Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is
manna: for they wist not what it was. And
Moses said unto them, This is the bread
which the LORD hath given you to eat.
Ps 74:14-16 14 Thou brakest the heads of

Time= perceived enemy of pleasure and
productivity.
We need to place more importance on “every
word of God” than every second of the clock.
To God your time is wasted unless He is
directing it. God has a buyback program for
wasted hours.
Eph 5:16-17
16 Redeeming the time, because the days
are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but
understanding what the will of the Lord
is.

that are without, redeeming the time.

The only way to qualify for proper time
management is “Every Word of God”.
