This document presents the results of a study examining the hematological and biochemical profiles of cattle from commercial farms in Gorkha, Nepal. Blood and fecal samples were collected from 45 cattle and analyzed. The hematological values were largely within normal ranges, except platelets were slightly low. Biochemically, blood sugar and calcium levels were lower than normal references, indicating potential hypoglycemia and hypocalcemia. The conclusion recommends nutritional interventions to normalize blood sugar and calcium for improved cattle health.

2. Introduction:
 Cattle is one of the important part of national
economy.
 Dairy cattle is growing enterprise in Nepal
 Dairy sector alone contributes to about 8% of
national GDP.
 Reproductive problems- Abortion and infertility and
poor productive performances are the major
hindrances for the profitability of dairy sector in
Nepal.

3. Rationale
 Blood constituents can provide valuable information about
the general health of an animal (Kaneko 1997).
 Can be used for evaluating the health status, stress and
welfare status of the animal (Mc Dowell 1992; Opera et al
2006; Kaneko 1997).
 Hematological profile ----- very important in evaluation of
the health status of animals and clinical interpretation of
laboratory data, is a prerequisite for diagnosis of several
patho-physiological and infectious disorders in cattle (
Kaneko 1997; Radostitis et al 2006; Sripad et al 2014).
 Keeping these in view, present study was undertaken at the
Commercial cattle farms of Gorkha, Nepal.

4. Methods
 Commercial cattle farms of Gorkha district was taken
purposively.
 A total of 45 animals were selected randomly and from each
animal 5 ml of blood, and about 15 gram of fecal samples were
taken and processed following standard procedures.
 The samples were then taken to laboratory for the hematological
and biochemical analysis and parasitological examination
respectively.
 The obtained values were then entered in MS excel 2007 and
expressed as Mean±SE.

7. Conclusion:
 Though the other hematological and biochemical
values were normal, blood sugar and Calcium level
were low. Thus, nutritional intervention to normalize
the blood calcium and sugar level is strongly
recommended.
