This document provides guidance on resolving conflicts using a technique called double loop learning. Double loop learning involves having both parties in a conflict discuss (1) what happened, (2) how it impacted them, and (3) why they think the other party acted that way, considering multiple potential reasons without judgment. It also recommends maintaining a positive outlook, acknowledging perceptions may differ from intentions, and allowing time for reflection before further discussion in order to prime participants for a healthy resolution of the underlying issues. The process does not itself resolve the conflict but orients the discussion to do so constructively.
