Langston Hughes The Negro Artist And The Racial Mountain
Langston Hughes , The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain claimed that African Americans face
racial and cultural challenges with finding their own identity in a society mainly influenced by
Eurocentric American culture. More specifically, Hughes discussed the challenges of African
American artists in embracing their black and remaining successful. Hughes recalled a conversation
with a black poet, who stated that I want to be a poet not a Negro poet, (Hughes, 964). Hughes
interpreted his statement to mean that subconsciously he wanted to be white. He used this
conversation and others to support his beliefs about African American identity and culture. He
communicated that African Americans try to blend into the Eurocentric American culture,

Analysis Of The Poem Wha
A FRANTIC banging awoke the mare from her peaceful slumber, eliciting a great yawn as she raised
her muzzle slowly up into the air, stretching out her wings and wincing until she heard them click,
relief spreading through her body. Then looking up to the window of her own little bedroom which
was made even smaller by the clutter around the unpainted cobble walls she groaned as she saw the
betraying blackness of the night and rolled back over, murmuring, Wha s matter?
Hearing no response for a few seconds, she smiled and nestled deeper under the cover, sighing as the
warmth surrounded her body. She had no chance of returning to sleep, however, as the harsh
hammering returned, louder this time. Squeaking, she then shot up from the bed, ... Show more

Or perhaps it wasn t so hard to explain; it was summer, after all.
The stallion, however, didn t seem quite so excited, his own expression one of great urgency. Jerking
his head to his left quickly he gallopea stop and all but slamming into the mare, crushing her against
the wall and making her groan. Catching himself almost immediately he jumped away from her, his
eyes narrowing as he picked up on her suddenly hungry eyes.
Listen to me, Blue! he whispered, his voice scratchy and breathless, his ears pinned against his neck,
the left being ripped almost down to the base. There s not time to argue, but we ve gotta go!
The mare Blue frowned, cocking her head slightly as she glanced out to the corridor, then looking up
to her window where the moon shone bright in the cloudless, star lit sky. Why? What s wrong with

Cryptography Is An Indispensable Tool Of Techniques For...
ABSTRACT
Almost in every field including banking and insurance security and privacy have become the essence.
Many people prefer internet banking because of its convenience. The solution to the security issues
require the use of cryptography in which data is being encrypted and converted to cipher text and then
decrypted to original form on reaching the second party. It is an indispensable tool for secured
communication between two parties in the presence of third party. This article attempts to introduce
the various algorithms which can be successfully used to ensure the security in banks. These
algorithms include Shift algorithm, Polyalphabetic Cipher, Affine Cipher, RSA, DSA etc.
Keywords: cryptology, banking, security
MATHEMATICAL CRYPTOLOGY IN BANKING SECTOR
Cryptography is an indispensable tool of techniques for the secured communication between two
parties in the presence of third party. A cryptographic algorithm is a mathematical function for
encryption or decryption where encryption is the process of translating plain text/ data into a random
and meaningless (cipher text) data and decryption is the process of converting cipher text back into
plain text. In most of the cases, two functions are involved, one for encryption and the other for
decryption. It is basically about constructing and analyzing protocols which prevents public from
reading the private messages. It is mostly based on mathematical theory and computer science practice

Pros And Cons Of Enlightenment In The French Revolution
The common understanding taught in American schools of the French Revolution is one of a
downtrodden peasant class being inspired by the Enlightenment philosophes to rise up and overthrown
the despotic monarch. This understanding correlates with American values of freedom, anti tyranny,
and success of the underdog. By constructing such a narrative, the French Revolution is given
American values. However, as asserted by Darnton in the aforementioned quotation, the French
Revolution s spark did not begin with the teeming masses of neglected commoners. Instead,
Enlightenment thought permeated the upper echelons of society for two key reasons: cost and literacy.
Compilations of Enlightenment thoughts were distilled and included into the relatively ... Show more

The freeing of the peasants from the noble dominated social hierarchy did not include freeing women
from the entrenched patriarchy. Enlightenment thought seemingly included women under the natural
rights of man, but in reality, women were excluded and denied equality. Initially, women were seen as
equals among men, but their subservient role was reasserted and potential gains in equality were lost.
For example, American independence was popularized in order to mobilize the entire society, yet only
white male landowners were given the opportunity to participate in government and allowed the right
to vote. Not until the twentieth century did women achieve universal suffrage. The century lapse in
equality begs the question of whether more could have been done during the tumultuous revolutions of
the late eighteenth century to spur gender

Franklin D. Roosevelt insisted his vice president be Henry Wallace. This paper examines two types of

Dr Bledsoe s Office Ralph Ellison Analysis
When the narrator enters into Mr. Emerson s office, he is immediately aware of the furnishings and
decorations in the office. The narrator perceives Mr. Emerson s office like a museum , where ebony
pedestals, paintings, bronzes, and tapestries are all arranged along the room (Ellison 180). As the
narrator takes a seat in the room, he recalls the juxtaposition between the college museum and Mr.
Emerson s office where he revives memories of the few cracked relics from slavery times (Ellison
181). In Dr. Bledsoe s office, pieces such as an iron pot, an ancient bell, a set of ankle irons and links

Together, the museums from the college, trustee offices, and the woman s apartment act as an effective
method to convey the narrator s views of power and how others duped him into thinking differently
from what he believed. Often the narrator is not allowed to view the museum settings he encounters
without the preconceived ideas from others like Dr. Bledsoe and the Brotherhood, which together
impacts the narrator s thoughts on his own invisibility. The narrator s preconceived notion of power
and success is what really draws the narrator to form his observations in the museum settings. Without
these elements from the museums, portions of the narrator s narrative towards his path of
disillusionment would be incomplete. The museum setting collectively showcases the narrator s
thoughts on his perception of power and authority. Therefore, from Ellison s various influences of art
and museum settings, the narrator s museum observations reflect the perception of the struggles of
invisibility and views of disillusionment the narrator gains from authoritative

Parents And Parents Essay
The current longitudinal study shows that there is a correlation between physical health and
relationship to parents regardless of gender. However, the results for each hypothesis of this study
showed varying results. Hypothesis #1, which predicted that there will be a positive correlation
between adolescents in good physical health and the quality of the relationship with their parents
regardless of gender, was statistically significant by results of this questionnaire. The results show that
there is a correlation between the relationship (closeness) to parents and general health of adolescents.
When asked to rate general health and level of closeness to each of their parents, adolescents who

This means that the more parents are involved in deciding who their adolescent children spend time
with, the more likely that the adolescent will report having better health. There was also a positive
correlation between the curfew variable and ability to select friends, meaning that, adolescents who
were able to select their own friends were more likely to also be able to choose their own curfew time
by their parents. These results show a significance relating to the hypothesis, there was a positive
correlation between the quality of parenting methods and the general health of the adolescents. This
shows that positive parental disciplinary techniques where parents balance being actively involved in
their adolescent children s activities and habits while maintaining a level of trust in allowing them to
make some decisions on their own may positively affect their children s general health. These findings
are consistent with and relate to a finding by a previous study which found that: adolescents who
perceived that their parents knew their friends, where they went at night, how they spent their money,
what they did with their free time, and where they were most afternoons, were less likely to begin to
use drugs (Steinberg et al., 1994). Hypothesis #3, which predicted that students performing better

A Comparison of A Vendetta by Guy de Maupassant and The Red Room by H.G. Wells I am aiming to
look at the differences and similarities of two writer s methods of creating tension in their stories. The
two stories I am looking at are A Vendetta by Guy de Maupassant and The Red Room by H. G. Wells.
After I have discussed these two stories I will draw a conclusion to show what I have found. A
Vendetta is about a woman s struggle to avenge the death of her son. The writer of this story uses lots
of sounds in his efforts to create tension, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also dresses in man s clothes, this also seems strange because it makes you wonder what she is
doing and why she isn t wearing her own clothes. Also the story tells us, The old woman returned
home in the evening. That night she slept soundly. This too creates tension because you wonder how
she can sleep when she has just killed someone and you therefore feel uncomfortable. The colours
used by Guy de Maupassant in A Vendetta create tension too because colours such as black and brown
are used. These colours are dark and traditionally associated with death and evil. This creates tension
because it makes the reader feel uneasy and wonder what plan the woman will concoct and if it will be
evil. During A Vendetta information is revealed gradually. For instance you don t fully understand the
woman s plan until the end. This crates tension because it keeps the reader in suspense and wondering
what will happen. They are also not entirely sure what she is doing throughout the story. In A Vendetta
Guy de Maupassant uses words associated with loneliness such as alone and widow . This creates
tension because it makes the woman seem like a victim and vulnerable, therefore creating an
uncomfortable and uneasy atmosphere. Now I have discussed Guy de Maupassant s techniques for
creating tension I will

There is a standard 8 by 8 checkerboard made up of 64 squares. These squares can be made of other
squares within the checkerboard. How many squares of various sizes are there? Also, how many
squares can be in any sized checkerboard (e.g. 9 by 9 checkerboard). There are many steps to figure
out the problem. First, I figured out how many squares there were in the checkerboard squares which
was 64.(Green should explain how you got 64.) To find 64 I simply looked at the top of the square and
added the squares up to get 8, and I did the same exact thing to the side of the square and got 8 then I
multiplied them to get 64 squares.. Then, I counted the squares along the side and the top and bottom

halo effect and recency effect Essay
As Director of Human Resources for People, people who need people.com, I have created the
following training proposal which will include common problems that occur when managers complete
performance reviews and suggestions for supervisors on how to eliminate or reduce these problems.
The common problems I have identified when conducting my research for this training are as follows:
Ƙ The halo effect which as the name implies causes supervisors to only see the angel in an employee
and blinds them by ignoring smaller problem areas that require growth and development. (San Joaquin
County Human Resources Division, 2002) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(San Joaquin County Human Resources Division, 2002)
Ƙ The mirroring effect is when supervisors favor employees that remind them of themselves and have
difficulty assessing and valuing the differences others bring to the workplace. (San Joaquin County
Human Resources Division, 2002)
The following solutions are what I am proposing to eliminate or reduce these problems:
Ƙ On the halo effect, produce continuous documentation over the duration of the evaluation, which
will assist supervisors in writing the employee s evaluation.
Ƙ On comparing employees, write their evaluations at different times, which will give the supervisor
time to center on one employee at a time.
Ƙ For the central tendency effect, supervisors need to identify problem areas with identifiable
solutions and the leadership to resolve these problem areas. By providing information that is
constructive, the supervisor is helping the person become an improved person.
Ƙ On the pitchfork effect, supervisors need to remember that they are evaluating the employee for the
entire time frame indicated on the evaluation. Constant records of performance, helps the supervisor
stay away from focusing on a particular event.
Ƙ For the labeling effect, supervisors need to be aware of their insights and preconceived

Poverty In Poverty And Poverty
As a main theme in Hunger and Shame, child malnutrition is a serious problem that has affected many
different societies. Child malnutrition is a complicated concept that often has many causes; each
society is different and must be studied closely to fully understand the reason for such a horrific
epidemic. Focusing on the Chagga population, many factors catalyzed the epidemic including
environmental, cultural, and global. Coffee is a major cash crop of Chagga farmers (p. xi) and a large
portion of the economic profit, but what happens when drought and coffee berry disease hit the
Chagga society. Environmental problems such as these became a large problem facing many people of
the Chagga. Much of the rich farm land on Mt. Kilimanjaro inhabited coffee trees and therefore
leaving less space for individual gardens. When coffee berry disease and drought affected the
production of Tanzania s major export, people such as the Chagga were left with a food shortage,
therefore introducing another environmental problem: famine. Although families could maintain home
gardens with the small amount of land available, it rarely was enough to satisfy the whole family. Yet
Chagga farmers were not permitted to convert coffee farming land into land for personal farming.
Another large cause of sickness came from the bacteria ridden water. Women did not boil the water
upon giving it to their young. A lot of people have heard don t drink the water in Mexico . Well this
was a similar situation

One is the adequacy of the research itself. In view of the extent of the research, and the high
proportion of negative ļ¬ndings, this seems unlikely to be fruitful. I will deal with it here cursorily.
Another is the appropriateness of the research to the nature of the theory. In this respect I argue that it
is the sort of theory which is not easily amenable to crucial test, as Wahba and Bridwell accept. This
would usually be seen as a shortcoming. I here argue that, on the contrary, it is one of the qualities
which gives the theory its power. The third ground is that the theory itself can be reļ¬ned. A series of
modiļ¬cations are later proposed. The remainder of the paper works through a number of stages. The
general nature of Maslow s hierarchy is ļ¬rst examined. A the same time the adequacy of current
research methods to test it is assessed. Then follows a more detailed analysis of the theory. As a
consequence of this examination I propose a series of Maslow revis(it)ed Paper 02 5 modiļ¬cations
to the categories of needs, their relationship, and the underlying rationale for the hierarchy. Finally, I
review the agreement between the theory and other general theories which address similar issues. The
nature of Maslow s hierarchy Before the research can be assessed or the theory reviewed it is
necessary that I clarify the very nature of the theory. Brieļ¬‚y, I argue that it is essentially a taxonomy,

Heart of Darkness vs. Apocalypse Now Essay
In Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now, both Joseph Conrad and Francis Ford Coppola create
similar statements through their creations as they both centralize their views upon the effects of
environmental changes that affect the human condition. The film Apocalypse Now vaguely reflects a
similar message pursued by Conrad s novella, due to the difference in time period, place setting, and
circumstances in which the film was created. Conrad wrote his novella during British colonization,
focusing upon imperialism. Coppola s film similarly focused upon the barbaric nature of man, which
demonstrates the insanity of the Vietnam War. In Heart of Darkness, Conrad centers his main focus
upon the journey of Marlow, a sailor, who travels into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kurtz s lack of restraint and hunger for ivory consumes not only his soul but drains all of his physical
existence. Upon seeing him, Marlow states, I could see the cage of his ribs all astir, the bones of his
arm waving (126) . Conrad focuses on the physical features of Kurtz to display the madness that has
consumed him. However, though Kurtz s body is deteriorating, Kurtz s mind continues to thrive.
Conrad shows this in Marlow s shock of witnessing a flame of passion that remains in Kurtz s eyes as
he converses without signs of exhaustion (126). Conrad continues to describe Kurtz as a shadow
composed of tranquility and satisfaction. Conrad s incorporation of this detail signifies the evil and
greed that consumes Kurtz and is reflected through his physique. However, the power of Kurtz s
presence is personified through the action of his words. As the strength in his voice captures Marlow s
attention, it merely reflects his influence upon his followers. The power reflected through his voice
displayed his confidence as well as his position as a leader for the natives. Hi demeanor displays an air
of arrogance that makes others feel less equal to him. Those who follow him fear him, but also
continue to respect him. In Apocalypse Now, Coppola creates a similar, however unique parallel
structure as Willard meets Kurtz.

On Guerrilla Warfare Sparknotes
In 1937, Mao Tse Tung wrote the book, On Guerrilla Warfare, as a rational appeal for survival. Mao
wrote the piece with the Chinese military in mind as his audience. During this time, the Chinese
military was preparing for the Second Sino Japanese War. Mao accessed the challenges facing China
in a possible war was their military logistics and strategy. The dynamics and logistics of the Chinese
military versus the Japanese army were incomparable. Mao recognized the Chinese army as smaller in
size and weaker in defense. Mao concluded China is incapable of defeating the Japanese army using
conventional military tactics. The Book, On Guerrilla Warfare, is a written proposal of Mao s solution

oppressed by Japan after the war. Mao s appeal to the rational usage of guerrilla tactics was an effort
to remove the negative connotations. As an effort to dismiss the negative bias, Mao examines the

presented the example to intimate China is much like the Russian Soviets. Mao defined guerrilla

What Is Eureka
Eureka! Poe s thoughts on the universe and its relation to God
The Universe is a plot of God. Is one of the main ideas expressed throughout Eureka a Prose Poem in
which Edgar Allan Poe expresses his thoughts on the creation and purpose of the universe (Poe). As a
writer Poe has been known to be a man of the arts, a poet. Eureka is truly one of its own among Poe s
works, especially since it was his last major work before his death(. A Prose Poem he called it.
Although he was not expectant of his death, Eureka seems to be his last testament of what he believes
is the collective universe. Not surprisingly, God has the same occupation in the universe as his, God is
a writer. As a man of thought he left this earth with a final testament to the world in which he wishes
to explain the universe for all those who seek the truth (Poe Preface).Eureka is not only an explanation
of Poe s understanding of life based on his experiences; but a reassurance that all creations in the

People were not able to gain, share and discuss Poe s understanding of the universe, due to the wall of
critiques propped up by the scientific community. Ironically most of his statements were later proven
to contribute to modern day understanding of how the universe works and what purpose humans have

We can only access them with great effort; yet, some of them are entirely inaccessible. (Davis
Palladino, 1995).
Freud argued that most of our behaviour is motivated by our unconscious, but how could we know the
existence of it. Freud suggested that there are several ways to access the unconscious level. The first
one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts and feelings,
expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed that repressed
material would be emerged ultimately. The second one is by dream analysis, he opined that
unconscious wishes are often manifested in dreams, sometimes in their true forms, sometimes in
symbolic form (Website : Webref), e.g. children s wish of candies or toys would be reflected in the
content of their dreams. The last one is named as Freudian slip; he argued that an accidental action
would be expressed as the unconscious motivations (Miell, Phoenix Thomas, 2002), e.g. A man who
said Peter is a bad (black) guy!
But what materials would be repressed to the part of unconscious? Freud considered that part of our
unconscious motivations was come from biological drivers, one of these drivers is sexuality or libido
in Freud s terms. It refers any forms of body stimulation that

North Carolin The Legacy Of The English
In 1792, the state legislature had to decide where to place the state capitol. The capitol was created as
a planned capital city. As a nod to the state s early history, the capital was named Raleigh after Sir
Walter Raleigh in deference to his original plan to build a Cittie of Raleigh in his first colony. (Powell,
1989, p. 212).
The most obvious influence of English settlement in North Carolina is the legacy of the English
language, the English system of weights and measures, which ironically the English no longer use, the
system of governance and as mentioned earlier, the naming of counties and towns.
Another legacy of the English influence in North Carolina is the textile industry. Early colonists

The Jack tales originated in the British Isles and were brought to North Carolina as part of a rich oral
storytelling tradition (Chase, 2003, pp. 62 65).
There are pockets of North Carolina which hold on to peculiarities of English speech. According to
(Burke, 1971, pp. 289 300) Ocracoke is one such pocket where dialect and language still contain
English influenced speech. Part of the reason this holds true is that Ocracoke, as a barrier island
remains isolated from the rest of the North Carolina and has held onto specific turns of phrase and
pronunciation. For example, the words abreast (to the side of) comforter (for quilt) squall (for storm)
curtain (in place of blind or roller shade) and whicker (the sound a horse makes.)
The early days of farming in North Carolina over a hundred years after the first white, European
colonists had arrived was initially that of hog and cattle farming. Hogs and cattle were let lose to
forage and roam the countryside before being rounded up twice a year for slaughter. The meat was

Despotism In Julius Caesar
Cassius, As a young man he studied philosophy in Greece and was known for his opposition against

Greeks. The Ancient Greek Culture, a very unique culture, is filled with many expectations, hopes,
and fears. For instance, the Greeks were very powerful and many other empires rising they were

How Is Imagery Used In The Book Of Job
Imagery in the book of Job is used to emphasize the meaning or mood of the text. For instance, within
chapter 2 verse 8, there is an image described after Satan attacks where Job took a potsherd with
which to scrape himself, and sat among the ashes. This scene emphasizes the deep despair and
hopelessness Job is struggling to handle. Job is pictured here scraping sores off of his body with
broken pottery. To begin with, Job is inflicting pain on himself conveying that he is in such a
depressed state where he no longer can think about the physical pain as he has become numb to it.
Furthermore, the writer depicts Job sitting in ashes which was often done in cases of mourning,
portraying how Job may feel as if he has nothing else to live for, as if a part of him had died. The ...

A significant word repeated within the book of Job is just, or justice. While Job is suffering he
exclaims, I am a laughingstock to my friends; I, who called upon God and he answered me, a just and
blameless man, I am a laughingstock. (12:4) The use of the word just here poses a case for Job. Being
just is based on or behaving according to what is morally right and fair so the reader is convinced that
Job has done no wrong and does not deserve what he is enduring. Hence, God s justice is questioned
by Job and the reader while Job searches for an answer to his plight. The biggest questions Job has in
the book are: Is God just? Does God run the universe on the strict principle of justice? According to
Job, he argues that he is innocent

Comparison Of Kit Kat And Give Me A Break
Kit Kat, a product of Hershey, known for their chocolate covered wafers, and not to mention one of
the catchiest jingles of all time, have created a new commercial starring Chance The Rapper. Not only
have they collaborated to produce this recent advertisement, but also to remake their classic Give Me
A Break jingle. Both Kit Kat and Chance have made a name for themselves, yet are probably not the
best in their respective fields. However, the way this ad relies on Kit Kat s iconic jingle, a well known
rapper, and the emotional appeal makes these two the perfect pairing. The advertisement starts with
two Kit Kat pieces alongside each other, symbolizing a pause symbol or what Kit Kat would call a
break. With every commercial Kit Kat is urging their audience to consider the word break in two
meanings. One definition being obvious, they want you to break a piece of a Kit Kat bar and share it

Most people who are close to their relatives concentrate on this and without realizing they
automatically adore it, because of the family aspect it provides. Another way they sway your emotions
is by making this an amusing endorsement. The use of the homophone s wrapper and rapper only
further proves this, when Kit Kat personifies Chance The Wrapper making him say we re both Chance
The (W)rapper. Kit Kat has always had an ample sense of humor and this ad only helps to prove that.
This commercial is another colossal ad by Kit Kat, who is a major figure in their industry. Finding a
manner to incorporate their unique jingle, Chance The Rapper, and making an emotional appeal all in
a 30 second video are reasons this ad was an effective one. The only question now for Chance and Kit
Kat in terms of their career, individually or as a team is what s next? Hopefully both continue to have
great careers and end with an inspiring legacy for future companies and people to

The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 is one of the most important legislations passed in the 21st century

corporation s auditing accountability and financial fraud problems within corporations. One was bill

Jefferson brought up to Congress that all American Indians be encouraged to move voluntarily from
their lands east of the Mississippi River. For some time, many American Indians began their new
venture and voluntarily started to move. President James Monroe also agreed with Thomas Jeffersons
ideas and convinced Congress to move on with the process. Thomas Jefferson and President James

Persuasive Essay On Hunger
Elizabeth Olsen says I get way too much happiness from good food. This is not something just anyone
can feel. Going home to a meal on the table is a privilege in this economy. In just WNC, Western
North Carolina, there are kids and entire families that are not getting ends meat. This is a big problem
that we as a community need to fix, The number of undernourished human beings on the planet
increased from 777 million in 2015 to 815 million in 2016 (New York Times). Nevertheless, there are
already movements being created. One of these movements is MANNA FoodBank, whose mission is
to help and provide a meal. And others like Roadrunner, who gives backpacks of food to about 1,500
kids are also trying to stop hunger (Hunger 35).
Hunger in the U.S. has been a problem for centuries. In the early 1980s, adverse economic conditions
and efforts to limit federal spending led to a general belief that hunger was widespread in the United
States and may have been increasing. Every year food is rising in price, and every year more and more
people can t afford to have a meal on the table when they get home. According to Time Magazine [the
cost of] dried beans, has leaped an astounding 256% since December 1970, while rice has jumped
124%. People started seeing this pattern and in the 1986 s millions joined hands. This movement was
called Hands Across America. This event was to raise money for the Americans who are hungry. This

Summary Of Willa Cather s A Wagner Matinee
A Wagner Matinee, by Willa Cather is a powerful short story encompassing many themes, the Most
powerful of which, being one of sacrifice. Our main character Aunt Georgina, like many
Homesteaders in the 19th century worked tirelessly raising a family, facing countless days of
exhausting labor, and braving whatever the elements decided to throw their way. This homesteader
lifestyle and the hardships which accompanied it often meant that anyone who had strong cultural or
musical interests would have to subdue them and replace their favored sonatas and overtures, with
hard labor and mind numbing tasks. As her years of labor wore on, even the most enduring of
Georgina s passion, her love of music, was eventually forced into a sad remission. In choosing to
elope with her young lover and to pursue a homesteader life, Georgina had to sacrifice many of the
pleasures she once enjoyed. Despite the many years she faced toiling away, her passions, though
forced dormant, never ceased to exist.
It is the turn of the 19th Century a time where countless families sought to make their fortunes and
dreams come true by moving west. Our story opens up with Georgina s nephew receiving a letter that
she will be arriving the next day to attend to some family business. Upon reading the worn note in his
hands her nephew instantly pictures his aunt, describing her worn figure as at once pathetic and
grotesque even later comparing her disfigurements to explorers who have left

One of the most recognized technologic advancements in plans during world war one and two waqs
the blitzberg plan. The World War Two era was a time of change. There were many technological
advancements during this time. These advances can be categorized into three categories. They are
weapon advances, vehicle advances, and strategic advances. This technology would change the face of
war forever. The first category, weapon advances, is a very important category. Leading up to the war,
weapons were changing constantly. Weapons of World War One were out of date. They were

The second group of advances is vehicle advances. This category can be broken down into a few sub
categories. They are ground vehicles, ships, and aircraft. This category of technology was one of the
most important influences of the war. First, we will discuss ground vehicle advances. The Jeep was
invented in World War Two. It was used as basic transportation for troops. After the war, the Jeep
became more popular and was then used as a production vehicle for the public. Tanks of World War
One were very primitive and very ineffective. In World War Two, the tank was one of the most
important vehicles used. Leading up to World War Two, tanks were made more powerful, faster,
lighter, and stronger. Tank warfare was very important in World War Two. All countries involved in
the war were producing their own models of tanks. By the end of the war, the Allies had developed a
new kind of tank. It had no big guns on it. It was a troop transportation vehicle that was heavily
armored. Transportation vehicles were very important in the war. Without transportation, there is no
efficient way to move troops. All of these vehicles were very important in the history of war.
The next group of vehicles is the ships. Naval technology was very primitive prior to this time. The
radar was a breakthrough in navigation and enemy detection. However, the radar was new technology,

Religious Pluralism Essay
On July 12, 2007, for the first time in American history the Senate session that day was opened by a
prayer; unlike any other prayer, it was given by a Hindu priest. At first sight, it would seem as though
the ideals designed by the framers of the Constitution were alive and well; the pluralization of the
United States of America, the land of freedom of religion, and the right to worship without
persecution. However, the Christian right wing religious group Operation Save America entered the
Senate floor and began to heckle Rajan Zed, the Hindu priest, perpetuating that Hinduism is an
abomination , as Hindus do not worship The lord Jesus Christ . This leads us to ask the question: Is
America a land of religious pluralism, or is it a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With 77% of all evangelical leaders holding an unfavorable view of Islam, still 93% of evangelicals
agree that it is important to Welcome Muslims into the American community (Cimino, R, pg. 2).
This survey reveals that the problem with the Islam faith is not racial: The Muslim people are
welcomed, the Islam faith is not. The violence that has been perpetrated against America, whether
executed or planned, has brought to fruition religious persecution not seen since the persecution of the
Jews in W.W.II. This trust no Arab attitude has brought shame to the Constitutional intentions of
freedom of religion intended by our forefathers, and has set religious tolerance back 200 years.
Looking at media representation of Muslim Americans prior to 9 11, it shows religious diversity in
America, depicting Muslim America as just another religious community seeking to advance and
protect their interests, not unlike other Americans. After 9 11 the media portrayed representations of
threat and fear, creating boundaries between Muslims and other Americans. Such depiction transforms
the identity of Muslims and American religious pluralism (Byng, M. pg. 3). The land of pluralism has
become a land of persecution for Muslim Americans. I cannot help but wonder how the Constitutional
framers would interpret the problems of today: The holy war we face, the attempted

custodial parent (CP), Ms. Foxhill, originally opened her case for child support services in September
2014. At that time, the case was setup on the DHR s system for collection. DHR instructed the non
custodial parent (NCP) to begin making payments through the Child Support Payment Center. Shortly
thereafter on October 31, 2014, the CP closed her case with DHR. On December 18, 2014, the CP

page 2, Husband shall pay to the wife for the support and maintenance of the children the sum of
$1,323.00 per month until each child shall attain the age of nineteen years or shall marry, whichever
shall first occur. He stated this is a confusing sentence to him because it does not say pay $1,323.00 a
month until both children turn age 19. He stated he understand that this may not be the intent of what
the document should say but it clearly says until each child obtain the age of 19; does not state
anything about coming back to court to change the child support after the first child turn 19 or
anything like that. He stated it left both, he and the CP to believe that once a child turn 19, the support
should be reduced. To add to that, the NCP stated when the oldest child was 17; she went away to
school in August 2011. The NCP stated that in August 2011, the CP requested him to give half the
support to their oldest child and the other half to the CP. That continued until the oldest child turn 19
at which time he stopped paying child support directly to the oldest child;

Americans were taught in school which was not entirely true. An interesting guy Larsen was. His
ancestors witnessed the first official Thanksgiving and what emphasizes this is that his ancestors

Each village consisted of a Sachem and a tribal council. The way power was held in the two clans had
its differences. The political power floated upward to the people. In the Algonquians, the power was
held more by men. In the Iroquois, the women had the last vote for the person or group of people they
wanted to lead their clan. When it came to enforcing laws and helping each other out, the men and
women worked together. There were other Indians in the Eastern woodlands that considered the turtle,
deer, and fish their brothers. They were at one with nature, they cherished it so much. Nature was
cherished so much that when hunters went out to hunt, they left a little meat and skin as an offering to
the spirits. Now we can have a good picture of how the Wampanoags felt when they saw strange ships
coming to the shores of their homes. As a custom of theirs, they welcomed the Pilgrims with open
arms. They were generous to the new comers and they quickly grew a friendship. If there was no
friendship, the pilgrims surely wouldn t have survived. Along with the Pilgrims came their plant able

therefore the seeds weren t able to grow in the rocky soil. A man named, Tisquantum (better known as

Do School Shooters Really Cause Mass School Shootings In...
Since 2013, there have been 175 school shootings in America. That is such a horrible number to hear.
There s been so much activity on school shooting that it doesn t come as a shock when one happens.
As Obama said after the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, where a
gunman went on a rampage and murdered at least 10 people, Somehow this has become a routine. All
shooters have a motive and it has to do with their life at home, how they were treated at school, and
how their mental health is. Initially, for a school shooter to become an enemy to society they have to
be raised differently. For example, Adam Lanza, shooter who caused the horrible deaths of children at
Sandy Hook elementary, was raised by a mom who lived in a rural area in New Hampshire where
hunting and shooting guns was a regular activity there. Adam showed signs of interest to guns at an
early age and his mom would buy him guns to start collecting at age 14. At this point in time he was
diagnosed mentally ill and he started to be obsessed with violent fantasies. A main reason his mom
would buy him guns is so that they can share an interest in something together and bond. So you have
to take into consideration that what happens whilst a child is growing up and how they are raised will
impact future actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Melisman Vs. Freeman Summary
Stakeholders encase all individuals and groups who in one way or another are impacted by the
presence, successes, or failure of a business. Employees, suppliers, managers, the community,
customers, competition, the government, and stockholders are all considered, in the broadest sense, to
be stakeholders. Stockholders, unlike the rest, in addition to being stakeholders, are their own little
group. Stockholders are the owners or public and private limited companies. Companies have the right
to restrict ownership, and spread it over as few or as many individuals as they wish. Stockholders own
pieces of the company and with that have a vested interest in the financial growth of the company.
Money speaks, and in all cases, with the exception of eleemosynary companies, the owners are most
concerned with making profit. Together stakeholders and stockholders comprise all crucial groups in
business affairs. Business theories plot the two against each other, as business can only be managed to
favorably manage one of the two. Edward Freeman and Milton Friedman, two highly respected
individuals were the faces of the square off. Freeman believed that firms should center themselves on

Freeman suggested that the suppliers might extend billing periods and maintain prices. Within the

The Major Effects Of The Second Industrial Revolution
The second industrial revolution was the change of our world even though many people moved from
rural homes into cities because they can t get accepted in jobs and it started in the 1870 1944 after the
civil war because during this time, many advances in technology and factories made it easier and
quicker for farmers and manufactures to produce more goods and products to be sold.
There was also one major effect that caused the second industrial revolution which was immigration
and this had many benefits such as the beginning of new ideas, innovations, and inventions because
many people were coming from different civilization around the world with creativity to America.

As the growth of industrial development increased so did the accumulation of massive industries and
corporations . This had changed The United States of America into being urbanized instead of being a
rural area. Then many businessmen like Andrew Carnegie, John D Rockefeller, and Cornelius
Vanderbilt had big industrial tycoons which had a massive benefit for them and for their society
because they had an increase in mass production which ultimately changed the face of the United
States of America from being a rural society into being an urban society. Family relations started to
weaken during the second revolution in America and New England because with new employment
opportunities for women, men and children in New England and America, families had the ability to
become free or separate from each other, move away, or have an employment in which their gender or
age might not have otherwise allowed today. In short, the Industrial Revolution in early America
created a standard of hard work, individuality, and in some cases, an equal amount of importance
dedicated to career and family. All in all, the second industrial revolution was essentially a positive
thing because many benefits came out of it such as new ideas, innovations, and inventions. Every new
thing they had discovered led to a newer discovery. This is why we have all of the advances in

Langston Hughes The Negro Artist And The Racial Mountain Langston Hughes , The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain claimed that African Americans face racial and cultural challenges with finding their own identity in a society mainly influenced by Eurocentric American culture. More specifically, Hughes discussed the challenges of African American artists in embracing their black and remaining successful. Analysis Of The Poem Wha A FRANTIC banging awoke the mare from her peaceful slumber, eliciting a great yawn as she raised her muzzle slowly up into the air, stretching out her wings and wincing until she heard them click, relief spreading through her body. Then looking up to the window of her own little bedroom which was made even smaller by the clutter around the unpainted cobble walls she groaned as she saw the betraying blackness of the night and rolled back over, murmuring, Wha s matter? Hearing no response for a few seconds, she smiled and nestled deeper under the cover, sighing as the warmth surrounded her body. She had no chance of returning to sleep, however, as the harsh hammering returned, louder this time. Squeaking, she then shot up from the bed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Or perhaps it wasn t so hard to explain; it was summer, after all. The stallion, however, didn t seem quite so excited, his own expression one of great urgency. Jerking his head to his left quickly he gallopea stop and all but slamming into the mare, crushing her against the wall and making her groan. Catching himself almost immediately he jumped away from her, his eyes narrowing as he picked up on her suddenly hungry eyes. Listen to me, Blue! he whispered, his voice scratchy and breathless, his ears pinned against his neck, the left being ripped almost down to the base. There s not time to argue, but we ve gotta go! The mare Blue frowned, cocking her head slightly as she glanced out to the corridor, then looking up to her window where the moon shone bright in the cloudless, star lit sky. Why? What s wrong with Look, do you trust me? Well, yeah. You know I do, Rip, but If you trust me then shut up and follow my lead. We ve gotta get out of here, right now. The stallion spun around and trotted over to the doorway, displaying his saddlebags, seemingly filled with food, for the first time. Blue, however, only remained where she was, looking around her tiny room as the stallion s magic engulfed an old set of her horseshoes laying in the corner and carried them over to his side. • 7. Pros And Cons Of Enlightenment In The French Revolution The common understanding taught in American schools of the French Revolution is one of a downtrodden peasant class being inspired by the Enlightenment philosophes to rise up and overthrown the despotic monarch. This understanding correlates with American values of freedom, anti tyranny, and success of the underdog. By constructing such a narrative, the French Revolution is given American values. However, as asserted by Darnton in the aforementioned quotation, the French Revolution s spark did not begin with the teeming masses of neglected commoners. Instead, Enlightenment thought permeated the upper echelons of society for two key reasons: cost and literacy. Compilations of Enlightenment thoughts were distilled and included into the relatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The freeing of the peasants from the noble dominated social hierarchy did not include freeing women from the entrenched patriarchy. Enlightenment thought seemingly included women under the natural rights of man, but in reality, women were excluded and denied equality. Initially, women were seen as equals among men, but their subservient role was reasserted and potential gains in equality were lost. For example, American independence was popularized in order to mobilize the entire society, yet only white male landowners were given the opportunity to participate in government and allowed the right to vote. Not until the twentieth century did women achieve universal suffrage. The century lapse in equality begs the question of whether more could have been done during the tumultuous revolutions of the late eighteenth century to spur gender ... Eagleton was selected at the convention at the last minute and underwent no invasive vetting process. After Eagleton s appointment, it was discovered he underwent electroshock therapy for depression. The narrator perceives Mr. Emerson s office like a museum , where ebony pedestals, paintings, bronzes, and tapestries are all arranged along the room (Ellison 180). As the narrator takes a seat in the room, he recalls the juxtaposition between the college museum and Mr. Emerson s office where he revives memories of the few cracked relics from slavery times (Ellison 181). Often the narrator is not allowed to view the museum settings he encounters without the preconceived ideas from others like Dr. Bledsoe and the Brotherhood, which together impacts the narrator s thoughts on his own invisibility. The narrator s preconceived notion of power and success is what really draws the narrator to form his observations in the museum settings. Without these elements from the museums, portions of the narrator s narrative towards his path of disillusionment would be incomplete. These results show a significance relating to the hypothesis, there was a positive correlation between the quality of parenting methods and the general health of the adolescents. The two stories I am looking at are A Vendetta by Guy de Maupassant and The Red Room by H. G. Wells. After I have discussed these two stories I will draw a conclusion to show what I have found. This too creates tension because you wonder how she can sleep when she has just killed someone and you therefore feel uncomfortable. The colours used by Guy de Maupassant in A Vendetta create tension too because colours such as black and brown are used. These colours are dark and traditionally associated with death and evil. This creates tension because it makes the reader feel uneasy and wonder what plan the woman will concoct and if it will be evil. During A Vendetta information is revealed gradually. For instance you don t fully understand the woman s plan until the end. This crates tension because it keeps the reader in suspense and wondering what will happen. They are also not entirely sure what she is doing throughout the story. In A Vendetta Guy de Maupassant uses words associated with loneliness such as alone and widow . This creates tension because it makes the woman seem like a victim and vulnerable, therefore creating an uncomfortable and uneasy atmosphere. Ƙ On comparing employees, write their evaluations at different times, which will give the supervisor time to center on one employee at a time. Ƙ For the central tendency effect, supervisors need to identify problem areas with identifiable solutions and the leadership to resolve these problem areas. By providing information that is constructive, the supervisor is helping the person become an improved person. Ƙ On the pitchfork effect, supervisors need to remember that they are evaluating the employee for the entire time frame indicated on the evaluation. Child malnutrition is a complicated concept that often has many causes; each society is different and must be studied closely to fully understand the reason for such a horrific epidemic. Focusing on the Chagga population, many factors catalyzed the epidemic including environmental, cultural, and global. Coffee is a major cash crop of Chagga farmers (p. xi) and a large portion of the economic profit, but what happens when drought and coffee berry disease hit the Chagga society. Environmental problems such as these became a large problem facing many people of the Chagga. Much of the rich farm land on Mt. Kilimanjaro inhabited coffee trees and therefore leaving less space for individual gardens. When coffee berry disease and drought affected the production of Tanzania s major export, people such as the Chagga were left with a food shortage, therefore introducing another environmental problem: famine. Although families could maintain home gardens with the small amount of land available, it rarely was enough to satisfy the whole family. Yet Chagga farmers were not permitted to convert coffee farming land into land for personal farming. Another large cause of sickness came from the bacteria ridden water. In view of the extent of the research, and the high proportion of negative ļ¬ndings, this seems unlikely to be fruitful. I will deal with it here cursorily. In this respect I argue that it is the sort of theory which is not easily amenable to crucial test, as Wahba and Bridwell accept. This would usually be seen as a shortcoming. I here argue that, on the contrary, it is one of the qualities which gives the theory its power. The third ground is that the theory itself can be reļ¬ned. • 31. Religious Pluralism Essay On July 12, 2007, for the first time in American history the Senate session that day was opened by a prayer; unlike any other prayer, it was given by a Hindu priest. At first sight, it would seem as though the ideals designed by the framers of the Constitution were alive and well; the pluralization of the United States of America, the land of freedom of religion, and the right to worship without persecution. However, the Christian right wing religious group Operation Save America entered the Senate floor and began to heckle Rajan Zed, the Hindu priest, perpetuating that Hinduism is an abomination , as Hindus do not worship The lord Jesus Christ . This leads us to ask the question: Is America a land of religious pluralism, or is it a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With 77% of all evangelical leaders holding an unfavorable view of Islam, still 93% of evangelicals agree that it is important to Welcome Muslims into the American community (Cimino, R, pg. 2). This survey reveals that the problem with the Islam faith is not racial: The Muslim people are welcomed, the Islam faith is not. The violence that has been perpetrated against America, whether executed or planned, has brought to fruition religious persecution not seen since the persecution of the Jews in W.W.II. This trust no Arab attitude has brought shame to the Constitutional intentions of freedom of religion intended by our forefathers, and has set religious tolerance back 200 years. Looking at media representation of Muslim Americans prior to 9 11, it shows religious diversity in America, depicting Muslim America as just another religious community seeking to advance and protect their interests, not unlike other Americans. After 9 11 the media portrayed representations of threat and fear, creating boundaries between Muslims and other Americans. Such depiction transforms the identity of Muslims and American religious pluralism (Byng, M. pg. 3). The land of pluralism has become a land of persecution for Muslim Americans. I cannot help but wonder how the Constitutional framers would interpret the problems of today: The holy war we face, the attempted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shortly thereafter on October 31, 2014, the CP closed her case with DHR. On December 18, 2014, the CP reopened the child support case for collection. Van Staagen s testimony revealed that he and the CP were married in June 1992 and divorced in May 2004 that left the CP with custody of the children and him paying child support of $1,323.00. Mr. Van Staagen stated that from the date of the divorce until August 2011 he paid the $1,323.00 without ever missing a payment, completely supporting his children. Mr. Van Staagen quoted from the agreement, page 2, Husband shall pay to the wife for the support and maintenance of the children the sum of $1,323.00 per month until each child shall attain the age of nineteen years or shall marry, whichever shall first occur. He stated this is a confusing sentence to him because it does not say pay $1,323.00 a month until both children turn age 19. He stated he understand that this may not be the intent of what the document should say but it clearly says until each child obtain the age of 19; does not state anything about coming back to court to change the child support after the first child turn 19 or anything like that. He stated it left both, he and the CP to believe that once a child turn 19, the support should be reduced. To add to that, the NCP stated when the oldest child was 17; she went away to school in August 2011. The NCP stated that in August 2011, the CP requested him to give half the support to their oldest child and the other half to the CP. That continued until the oldest child turn 19 at which time he stopped paying child support directly to the oldest child; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The political power floated upward to the people. In the Algonquians, the power was held more by men. In the Iroquois, the women had the last vote for the person or group of people they wanted to lead their clan. When it came to enforcing laws and helping each other out, the men and women worked together. There were other Indians in the Eastern woodlands that considered the turtle, deer, and fish their brothers. They were at one with nature, they cherished it so much. Nature was cherished so much that when hunters went out to hunt, they left a little meat and skin as an offering to the spirits. Now we can have a good picture of how the Wampanoags felt when they saw strange ships coming to the shores of their homes. As a custom of theirs, they welcomed the Pilgrims with open arms. They were generous to the new comers and they quickly grew a friendship. If there was no friendship, the pilgrims surely wouldn t have survived. Along with the Pilgrims came their plant able seeds that were known as, wheat . The climate was not the same as where the pilgrims originated from therefore the seeds weren t able to grow in the rocky soil. • 34. Do School Shooters Really Cause Mass School Shootings In... Since 2013, there have been 175 school shootings in America. That is such a horrible number to hear. There s been so much activity on school shooting that it doesn t come as a shock when one happens. As Obama said after the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, where a gunman went on a rampage and murdered at least 10 people, Somehow this has become a routine. All shooters have a motive and it has to do with their life at home, how they were treated at school, and how their mental health is. Initially, for a school shooter to become an enemy to society they have to be raised differently. For example, Adam Lanza, shooter who caused the horrible deaths of children at Sandy Hook elementary, was raised by a mom who lived in a rural area in New Hampshire where hunting and shooting guns was a regular activity there. Adam showed signs of interest to guns at an early age and his mom would buy him guns to start collecting at age 14. At this point in time he was diagnosed mentally ill and he started to be obsessed with violent fantasies. A main reason his mom would buy him guns is so that they can share an interest in something together and bond. So you have to take into consideration that what happens whilst a child is growing up and how they are raised will impact future actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only do Jose and Adam have mental disorders, a majority of school shooters have signs of mental disorders. It s inevitable to avoid school shootings unless there is a change of gun laws but that is up to the government to figure out. Unfortunately school shootings will continue to happen and there has to be a cure for the forthcoming future to carry out the safety of kids and teachers around the ... • 35. Melisman Vs. Freeman Summary Stakeholders encase all individuals and groups who in one way or another are impacted by the presence, successes, or failure of a business. Employees, suppliers, managers, the community, customers, competition, the government, and stockholders are all considered, in the broadest sense, to be stakeholders. Stockholders, unlike the rest, in addition to being stakeholders, are their own little group. Stockholders are the owners or public and private limited companies. Companies have the right to restrict ownership, and spread it over as few or as many individuals as they wish. Stockholders own pieces of the company and with that have a vested interest in the financial growth of the company. Money speaks, and in all cases, with the exception of eleemosynary companies, the owners are most concerned with making profit. Together stakeholders and stockholders comprise all crucial groups in business affairs. Business theories plot the two against each other, as business can only be managed to favorably manage one of the two. Edward Freeman and Milton Friedman, two highly respected individuals were the faces of the square off. Freeman believed that firms should center themselves on ... Freeman firmly believes in what goes around comes around; much of his philosophy is based upon the ideology that relationships run circular. He specified that if a firm was good to their supplier than the supplier would be good to the firm; if the firm were to run into financial trouble, Freeman suggested that the suppliers might extend billing periods and maintain prices. Within the same idea, Freeman also pointed out that the same was true with customer service. As the growth of industrial development increased so did the accumulation of massive industries and corporations . This had changed The United States of America into being urbanized instead of being a rural area. Then many businessmen like Andrew Carnegie, John D Rockefeller, and Cornelius Vanderbilt had big industrial tycoons which had a massive benefit for them and for their society because they had an increase in mass production which ultimately changed the face of the United States of America from being a rural society into being an urban society. Family relations started to weaken during the second revolution in America and New England because with new employment opportunities for women, men and children in New England and America, families had the ability to become free or separate from each other, move away, or have an employment in which their gender or age might not have otherwise allowed today. In short, the Industrial Revolution in early America created a standard of hard work, individuality, and in some cases, an equal amount of importance dedicated to career and family. All in all, the second industrial revolution was essentially a positive thing because many benefits came out of it such as new ideas, innovations, and inventions.
