• Conclusion
• A Glimpse of the Project
3. INTRODUCTION
• Monitoring heart rate is very
important as it determines the
condition of the heart.
• The most precise way is
using an Electrocardiography
• Using Heartbeat Sensor is
very easy.
• The heartbeat is measured in
bpm(Beats per Minute).
4. WHY THIS PROJECT ?
• Used as an inexpensive alternative to expensive Heart Rate Monitors.
• It would be helpful for people to monitor their heart rate.
• Continuous monitoring and future diagnosis can be performed.
• More than a single patient at different places can be monitored.
• To know the Basics.
5. COMPONENTS USED
Heart Beat Monitoring
System
Arduino UNO
Heart Beat
Sensor
10K
Potentiometer
16*2 LCD
Display
Jumper Wires
Bread Board
6. PRINCIPLE OF HEART
BEAT SENSOR
Photo plethysmograph - changes in the volume of
blood in is measured by the changes in the intensity
of the light passing through organ.
IR LED and the Photo Detector like a Photo Diode.
In a Trans missive Sensor, the light source and the
detector are place facing each other and the finger
of the person must be placed in between the
transmitter and receiver.
Reflective Sensor, on the other hand, has the light
source and the detector adjacent to each other and
the finger of the person must be placed in front of
the sensor.
7. WORKING OF HEART
BEAT SENSOR
Consists of a sensor and a control circuit.
The Control Circuit help in connecting the signal to a
Microcontroller.
Heartbeat sensor, which works by detecting the
pulses.
Every heartbeat will alter the amount of blood in the
finger and the light from the IR LED passing through
the finger and thus detected by the Photo Diode will
also vary.
Op-Amp with an amplification factor of 1001.
Op - Amps triggers a transistor, from which, the signal
is given to a Microcontroller like Arduino.
10. APPLICATION
Instantaneous monitoring becomes very important in
case if someone having heart related disease.
Heart’s health can be monitored
instantaneous
Proper preventions can be taken to avoid life threatening
circumstances if problem is detected at its initial stage.
Can be fruitful in life saving
A health monitoring system containing other sub systems like temperature
monitoring, water level monitoring, diabetes monitoring (using saliva), etc. can
contain heart monitoring system as well.
Can be a part of fully
health monitoring
system
11. CONCLUSION
11
• Finally, this project achieved a lot of its goals.
• The project implemented a low cost, low power.
• Lists of accomplishments include portability, reliability and analog to
digital conversion and also the system is easily accessible.
