He Calms The Storms Slides, 3/11/12
1. And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him.
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that
the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was
asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us,
Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are
you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and
rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great
calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man
is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
Matthew 8:23-27 (ESV)
2. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion.
And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher,
do you not care that we are perishing?”
Mark 4:38 (ESV)
3. It was now about the sixth hour, and there was
darkness over the whole land until the ninth
hour, while the sun's light failed. And the curtain
of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus,
calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into
your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said
this he breathed his last.
Luke 23:44-46 (ESV)
4. And all his acquaintances and the women who
had followed him from Galilee stood at a
distance watching these things.
Luke 23:49 (ESV)
5. and returning from the tomb they told all these
things to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it
was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the
mother of James and the other women with
them who told these things to the apostles, but
these words seemed to them an idle tale, and
they did not believe them.
Luke 24:9-11 (ESV)
6. That very day two of them were going to a village named
Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they
were talking with each other about all these things that
had happened. While they were talking and discussing
together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.
But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he
said to them, “What is this conversation that you are
holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood
still, looking sad. Then one of them, named Cleopas,
answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who
does not know the things that have happened there in
these days?”
7. And he said to them, “What things?” And they said
to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who
was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God
and all the people, and how our chief priests and
rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death,
and crucified him. But we had hoped that he was
the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it
is now the third day since these things happened.
Luke 24:13-21 (ESV)
8. Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not
with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told
him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them,
“Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place
my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand
into his side, I will never believe.”
Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and
Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked,
Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be
with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here,
and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in
my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
9. Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you
have seen me? Blessed are those who have not
seen and yet have believed.”
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of
the disciples, which are not written in this book; but
these are written so that you may believe that Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing
you may have life in his name.
John 20:24-31 (ESV)
