The resurrection of Jesus is the central event of Christianity. Multiple eyewitnesses saw Jesus alive after his crucifixion and death, and many of these eyewitnesses willingly died as martyrs rather than deny what they had seen. The resurrection proves that Jesus had power over death and that his message of salvation was the truth.

Jesus' Passion Through the Eyes of John_Resurrection WitnessesStephen Palm
This Easter Sermon is part of the series: Jesus' Passion Through the Eyes of John. In this sermon we focus on some of the unique elements that John brings forward, such as the Foot Race between Peter and John as they raced towards the empty tomb. We also consider how the use of female witnesses in a Jewish world that deemed them to be unreliable actually adds credence to the authenticity of the gospel accounts.

The sins of man had to be paid for and death is the penalty for sin. Jesus paid our debt. He was killed on a cross, buried, and raised from the dead by God's Holy Spirit on the third day.

Do you believe that Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead? The Bible gives testimony that Jesus predicted both his death and resurrection. We have good reason to believe.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. The resurrection of Jesus Christ
is the most established event in history.
There is more historical evidence to back up
the Resurrection of Jesus than
any other historical event.
All the disciples were eyewitnesses to this historical event.
Eleven disciples died martyrs deaths for their testimony –
that Jesus had been raised from the dead
and never once denied it under horrendous torture.
3. They nailed Jesus to a cross
and gambled to see who would get his clothes.
4. It was about nine o clock in the morning
When they nailed him to the cross
5. Then he took Jesus’ body
down from the cross,
wrapped it in the cloth,
and laid it in a tomb
that had been carved out of the rock.
7. The next evening, when the Sabbath ended,
Mary Magdalene, Salome and Mary
the mother of James
went out and purchased burial spices
to put on Jesus' body.
8. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise,
they came to the tomb.
On the way they were discussing who
would roll the stone away from the entrance to the tomb.
9. But when they arrived,
they looked up
and saw that the stone –
a very large one –
had already been rolled aside.
10. So they entered the tomb,
and there on the right sat a young man
clothed in a white robe.
11. The women were startled,
but the angel said,
"Do not be so surprised.
You are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene,
who was crucified.
13. He has been raised from the dead!
Look, this is where they laid His body.
14. Now go and give this message to His disciples,
including Peter:
Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee.
You will see Him there,
just as He told you before He died!".
15. The women fled from the tomb,
trembling and bewildered,
saying nothing to anyone
because they were too frightened to talk.
16. Peter and the other disciple
started out for the tomb.
17. They were both running,
but the other disciple outran Peter
and reached the tomb first.
18. He stooped and looked in and saw the
linen wrappings lying there,
but he didn’t go in.
19. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside.
He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there,
while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head
was folded up
and lying apart from the other wrappings.
20. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first
also went in, and he saw and believed—
for until then
they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said
Jesus must rise from the dead.
21. One of the twelve disciples,
Thomas (nicknamed the Twin),
was not with the others when Jesus came.
23. But he replied,
“I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds
in his hands,
put my fingers into them,
and place my hand into the wound in his side.”
24. Eight days later the disciples were together again,
and this time . . .
Thomas was with them.
25. The doors were locked;
but suddenly, as before,
Jesus was standing among them.
32. So when the apostles were with Jesus,
they kept asking him,
“Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel
and restore our kingdom?”
33. He replied, “The Father alone has the
authority to set those dates and times,
and they are not for you to know.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes upon you.
And you will be my witnesses,
telling people about me everywhere—in
Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”
34. After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud
while they were watching,
and they could no longer see him.
35. As they strained to see him rising into heaven,
two white-robed men suddenly stood among them.
“Men of Galilee,” they said,
“why are you standing here staring into heaven?
36. Jesus has been taken from you into heaven,
but someday he will return from heaven
in the same way you saw him go!”
37. Jesus has been taken from you into heaven,
but someday he will return from heaven in the
same way you saw him go!”
38. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is
Lord
and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
For it is by believing in your heart
that you are made right.
Romans 10:9-10
39. The Hope of the Resurrection
And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what
will happen to the believers who have died
so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life
again, we also believe that when Jesus returns,
God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living
when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who
have died.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a
commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the
trumpet call of God.
First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on
the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air.
Then we will be with the Lord forever.
So encourage each other with these words
