Hawkeye is a performance monitoring tool for data centers. It analyzes metrics like throughput, latency, capacity planning, power consumption, and more at the second's time window to detect over or under performance. Hawkeye works by sniffing each TCP/IP packet and measuring latency by counting packets. It generates alerts when a monitor's throughput is outside historical norms. The tool ingests 5TB of data per day from a 10 node Amazon EC2 cluster and uses the data to help optimize and balance workloads.
