Solar Power Plant
Solar power plant is based on the conversion of
sunlight into electricity either directly using
photovoltaics(PV).
Photovoltaics converts light into electric current
using the photoelectric effect.
Photovoltaic Cell
A photovoltaic cell (PV cell) is a specialized semiconductor diode that
converts visible light into direct current (DC).
Some PV cells can also convert infrared (IR) or ultraviolet (UV)
radiation into DC electricity.

energy by means of solar cells =

• Photovoltaic panel consists of a
group of solar cells
• Solar cells are predominantly made
from silicon, a semiconductor
Converting Solar Energy
(Light) into Electricity
• PV panels consist of semiconductors
• PV cells have two types of
semiconductors: one positively charged
and one negatively charged
• When light shines on the
semiconductor, the electric field across
the junction between these two layers
causes an electric current
• The greater the intensity of light, the
greater the flow of electricity.

Components of Solar PV System
Solar PV system includes different components that should be
selected according to system type, site location & applications. The
major components for solar PV system are
1. Solar PV Module.
2. String
3. Combiner box
4. Inverter
5. Transformer
6. Battery
7. Control panel
Solar PV Modules
Solar PV modules are main
work that converts sunlight
directly into direct current
electricity.
Total 32085 PV modules are
used by ASTRONERGY
Company & each PV
module rating 310W.
String:
Selecting the correct string size is
one of the most important aspects of
PV system design. A string is multiple
solar modules connected together and
the number of modules in that string
is its size. Systems with strings that
are too small will sacrifice efficiency.
Over sizing strings can damage
inverters, void equipment warranties,
and violate the electrical code.
Strings In Series :
Series connections will increase the voltage of the
string while keeping the current constant.
String In Parallel:
Parallel connections will increase the current of
the string while the voltage remains constant.
String Combiner Box:
It is a string combiner box which
consist 16 way string, 6sq mm
copper cable separate 15 amp
fuse, to 240sq mm aluminium
cable for safety purpose .
And also its good for
maintenance easy to find fault
Inverter :
Inverter is required to converts the
DC output of PV panels into a clean
AC electricity for connection to
utility grid . Many modules in series
& parallel strings are connected to
the inverter.
Total 15 Inverter are used by
SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC Company
& each inverter rating 680KVA.
Transformer :
It is an electrical machine which works
on the principle of electromagnetic
induction. It transfers electric power
from one electric circuit to other with
the help magnetic path (flux) on
constant frequency but equal or
different current voltages.
Total 4 Transformers are used by
RAYCHEM RPG Company & each
Transformer rating one transfomer is
2.1 MVA & other 3 tarnsfomer rating is
2.8 MVA.
HT Panel :
It is a HT panel of all inverter room
which maintain the voltage and also its
show the parameter of plants, also we
can shut down plant and restart from
the HT panel .
Total 5 HT Panels are used by ABB
TECHNOCRAFTS Company & each
HT Panel rating 33KV
Battery :
Electrical storage batteries are
commonly used in PV system. A
device that stores electrical energy
(chemical energy to electrical energy
and vice-versa)
Total 20+2 batteries are used by
AMRON QUANTA & EXIDE
POWERSAFE & Each batteries rating
12v/100AH & 12V/200Ah.
Main Control Room:
It is a main control room which
control the plant by help of scada
system.
It have 3 no. of inverter and
transformer and HT panel .

  • 6. Solar Power Plant Solar power plant is based on the conversion of sunlight into electricity either directly using photovoltaics(PV). Photovoltaics converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.

The major components for solar PV system are 1. Solar PV Module. 2. String 3. Combiner box 4. Inverter 5. Transformer 6. Battery 7. Control panel
  • 16. Solar PV Modules Solar PV modules are main work that converts sunlight directly into direct current electricity. Total 32085 PV modules are used by ASTRONERGY Company & each PV module rating 310W.
  • 17. String: Selecting the correct string size is one of the most important aspects of PV system design. A string is multiple solar modules connected together and the number of modules in that string is its size. Systems with strings that are too small will sacrifice efficiency. Over sizing strings can damage inverters, void equipment warranties, and violate the electrical code.
  • 18. Strings In Series : Series connections will increase the voltage of the string while keeping the current constant.
  • 19. String In Parallel: Parallel connections will increase the current of the string while the voltage remains constant.
  • 20. String Combiner Box: It is a string combiner box which consist 16 way string, 6sq mm copper cable separate 15 amp fuse, to 240sq mm aluminium cable for safety purpose . And also its good for maintenance easy to find fault
  • 21. Inverter : Inverter is required to converts the DC output of PV panels into a clean AC electricity for connection to utility grid . Many modules in series & parallel strings are connected to the inverter. Total 15 Inverter are used by SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC Company & each inverter rating 680KVA.
  • 22. Transformer : It is an electrical machine which works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. It transfers electric power from one electric circuit to other with the help magnetic path (flux) on constant frequency but equal or different current voltages. Total 4 Transformers are used by RAYCHEM RPG Company & each Transformer rating one transfomer is 2.1 MVA & other 3 tarnsfomer rating is 2.8 MVA.
  • 23. HT Panel : It is a HT panel of all inverter room which maintain the voltage and also its show the parameter of plants, also we can shut down plant and restart from the HT panel . Total 5 HT Panels are used by ABB TECHNOCRAFTS Company & each HT Panel rating 33KV
  • 24. Battery : Electrical storage batteries are commonly used in PV system. A device that stores electrical energy (chemical energy to electrical energy and vice-versa) Total 20+2 batteries are used by AMRON QUANTA & EXIDE POWERSAFE & Each batteries rating 12v/100AH & 12V/200Ah.
  • 25. Main Control Room: It is a main control room which control the plant by help of scada system. It have 3 no. of inverter and transformer and HT panel .
