2. "Harana sa Pasko: Serenading the Season"
A Special Program in the Arts Christmas Recital
December 7, 2023 | AVR – 1:30-2:00 & 2:30-3:00
"Harana sa Pasko: Serenading the Season" - This theme is centered around the traditional
Filipino practice of serenading. It can feature groups performing classic and modern
Christmas carols in a 'harana' style, interspersed with love stories set during the Christmas
season.
Rationale:
"Harana sa Pasko: Serenading the Season" is a festive celebration designed to
showcase the multifaceted talents of students enrolled in the Special Program in the Arts
(SPA) under the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum. This Christmas recital is more
than just a performance; it is an embodiment of the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines,
especially highlighted during the Christmas season.
The recital is structured to provide a platform for SPA students to exhibit their skills
across various artistic domains - vocal and instrumental music, theater arts, dance arts, media
arts, creative writing, and visual arts. Each performance is carefully curated to not only
entertain but also to educate and inspire both the participants and the audience.
Vocal and instrumental segments will feature traditional and contemporary Christmas
songs, capturing the unique Filipino way of celebrating the season through music. Theater
arts students will bring to life stories that reflect the values and traditions integral to Filipino
Christmas, while dance arts performances will showcase traditional dances, illustrating the
country’s rich cultural tapestry.
Media arts students will contribute by capturing the essence of these performances
through various forms of media, ensuring that the spirit of the event is preserved and can be
shared beyond the confines of the venue. Creative writing students will have the opportunity
to express the sentiments of the season through poetry and prose, adding depth and
introspection to the celebration. Lastly, visual arts students will contribute to the aesthetic
appeal of the event through decorations and artworks that encapsulate the vibrant and
colorful nature of a Filipino Christmas.
"Harana sa Pasko: Serenading the Season" is not just a recital; it's a celebration of the
talent, creativity, and cultural richness of our young artists. It aims to foster a deeper
appreciation for the arts while also upholding and showcasing Filipino traditions and values
associated with Christmas. Through this event, we endeavor to nurture the artistic talents of
our students while instilling in them a sense of pride in their cultural heritage.

Dear Dr. Richard:
I am writing to request your approval for the upcoming Christmas recital titled "Harana sa
Pasko: Serenading the Season," scheduled to take place on December 7, 2023, in our school’s Audio-
Visual Room (AVR). The event is planned for two sessions: from 1:30-2:00 PM and 2:30-3:00 PM.
This recital is a proud presentation of our Special Program in the Arts (SPA), showcasing the
talents of our students in various artistic domains including vocals, instrumental music, theater arts,
dance arts, media arts, creative writing, and visual arts. It aligns with the Department of Education
(DepEd) curriculum and aims to nurture the artistic expression of our students.
To support the continuous development of our SPA, we propose a ticket price of 15 pesos for
the event. The proceeds will be dedicated to enhancing the resources available for our arts program.
Specifically, the funds will be used to purchase additional rondalla instruments, a piano, canvases,
paints, brushes, a dance mirror, and audio-visual equipment. These resources are vital for the holistic
development of our students in their respective artistic fields.
We believe that the "Harana sa Pasko: Serenading the Season" recital will not only provide a
platform for our students to exhibit their talents but also play a crucial role in acquiring essential
resources for their artistic education. The proposed ticket cost is a strategic approach to foster
community support for our arts program while ensuring affordability and inclusivity.
I am confident that this event will foster a deeper appreciation for the arts within our school
community and contribute significantly to the enrichment of our SPA. I am available to discuss any
aspect of this proposal and to provide further details as needed.
Your approval and support for this initiative would be greatly appreciated and would
undoubtedly motivate our students and staff involved in this project.
Thank you for considering this request. I eagerly await your positive response.
Respectfully yours, Noted by:
