THREE INITIAL
IDEASBy Hannah Mortiboys
FIRST INITIAL IDEA: HISTORICAL
My first initial idea was
based around the historical
context of Greenwich. For
instance looking at what
people used to wear at these
locations i.e. the Royal
Naval College, the hospital -
etc.
I came up with a mind map of pictures which
could relate to this idea, including pictures from
Alexander McQueens collections, photographs
of Trinity Buoy Wharf and images of what was
worn during after dates.
Coming up with two boards presenting my fashion collection
and where the catwalk would be held and what it would look
like. Including material samples and diagrams.
SECOND INITIAL IDEA: ARCHITECTURE
My second initial idea was taking
inspiration from the architecture of
both locations and incorporating this
into my fashion collection and the
design of the catwalk.
By looking at the old and
new architecture i can really
contrast the two, including
the surface designs, the
colours and the geometric
and symmetric shapes.
Contrasting the different colours from the architecture
THIRD INITIAL IDEA: MODEL
My third initial idea was to produce a three
dimensional model of the catwalk - this could be
created out of various materials to give a
realistic look. For the collection I would work on
the stand with calico to create the desired
shape, this then would be drawn and material
samples would be considered.
Theme: Basing the ‘old and new
contrasted collection around
details of both locations in Greenwich.
Including the different colours,
shapes, buildings and architecture.
FINAL IDEA: IDEA
TWO➤ I am going to choose idea two
as my final deign idea. I feel as
if working with the different
architecture of the two
locations could produce some
new and innovative ideas that
can relate to my collections
theme of ‘Old and New
Contrasted’.
